minecraft wii u edition

i was wondering since i havent played minecraft on my wii u in quite a while i wanted to ask you if there is any new items or anything else new on there if there is could you please tell me what they are--64.188.224.244 18:08, 3 July 2018 (UTC)Harlan Bowman p.s i come to you to ask questions because you are the most helpful :)

I tried adding some info, and got blocked because it was automatically determined as "Harmful"

Hey, man! So I was browsing the Wiki when I saw that the languages page needed editing. Specifically the Shakespearean English. So I added some info, and with a reference link as proof that this info is correct. Since the exact origins of Shakespear's English aren't very well known by most. However, for some reason, the wiki blocked me from adding this change. Said it automatically determined that my edit was harmful. Now, it says it's because I'm a new user ( really am ) trying to add a link. Here is what it said

"Your action has been automatically identified as harmful, and therefore disallowed. A brief description of the matched abuse rule for your action is: Global AF - New user adding link at end or in heading If you believe your edit was constructive, please post a message on the admin noticeboard or notify an admin directly."

So... Mind helping me with this? The info is pretty juicy and constructive in my opinion...

Thanks.–Preceding unsigned comment was added by Xxshadow reperxx (talkcontribs) at 11 July 2018 (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

Hi Xxshadow reperxx, thank you for letting me know! Your edit was caught in something called the abuse filter - which is a filter that prevents bad edits, such as spam, but it occasionally hits false positives as well. As for this filter in specific, I've seen it hit a lot of false positives - however, it's is a global abuse filter rule, meaning that the local admins can't do anything about it except notify global admins. The good thing is that all admins are able to access edits that were caught in the abuse filter, so I am going to take a look at the edit you tried to make add it to the article. Also, once you've made 10 edits, you shouldn't have a problem with most of the abuse filters anymore. :)-- Madminecrafter12Orange Glazed TerracottaTalk to meLight Blue Glazed Terracotta 12:47, 11 July 2018 (UTC)

Alright! Just saw the page, and the info I intended to add was there! Thanks alot, man! --Xxshadow reperxx (talk) 13:33, 11 July 2018 (UTC)

Oh yes, I've added that back to the page - I was going to let you know, but I got a bit busy with other stuff on MCW. No problem!-- Madminecrafter12Orange Glazed TerracottaTalk to meLight Blue Glazed Terracotta 13:34, 11 July 2018 (UTC)

Good to know there are active, and helpful people like you on the community. It was nice meeting you. Until the next odd error I encounter, I guess!--Xxshadow reperxx (talk) 15:13, 11 July 2018 (UTC)

Thanks - I'm happy to be able to help you with this! Just be sure to let me know if you need me for anything else - whether it's showing you around the wiki or helping you with another edit that got caught in the AF. :)-- Madminecrafter12Orange Glazed TerracottaTalk to meLight Blue Glazed Terracotta 15:17, 11 July 2018 (UTC)

I'll be sure to do so if need be ;). --Xxshadow reperxx (talk) 17:48, 11 July 2018 (UTC)

Hi there. I wanted to let you know that my 7 year old son made the edits (using my twitch account) and we've talked about being sure information is correct before changing things. OLD Minecraft launcher will NOT update to a new minecraft launcher

I have tried updating the mine craft launcher. It didn't work. Did I do it wrong? What should i do next? --24.20.164.152 17:05, 24 July 2018 (UTC)

Are you on Java Edition? If so, then 1.12.2 should update to 1.13 automatically. When clicking the current game version option in the launcher (the default), it should be 1.13. I apologize, I'm not an expert on this topic, particularly for other editions besides Java - you'll probably find better help on the Minecraft Forums. There's a link to the forums on the sidebar. :)-- Madminecrafter12Orange Glazed TerracottaTalk to meLight Blue Glazed Terracotta 21:34, 24 July 2018 (UTC)

Donkeys, Mules, and Llamas.

On the Nintendo switch version of Minecraft, you cannot put chests into mules, donkeys, or llama. I’ve looked it up, I’ve tried, I’ve killed many of them trying even. I’ve tried every button, and while crouching as well. I’m sure it’s a glitch with the game, could this be addressed next update? –Preceding unsigned comment was added by 73.3.122.117 (talk) at 01:05, 26 July 2018‎ (UTC). That is strange - it must be a bug. Do note that I'm not a Minecraft dev or anything of that sort, so I can't really fix the problem directly. However, you can easily create an account on the Bug Tracker and report the issue there! You would report it as a Bedrock Edition bug, as the Nintendo Switch version is part of BE. Additionally, there are also the Minecraft Forums where you can discuss Minecraft-related topics. Hope this helps!-- Madminecrafter12Orange Glazed TerracottaTalk to meLight Blue Glazed Terracotta 01:12, 26 July 2018 (UTC)

Hey, its (formerly) twh_minecrafter, the noob constantly needing help in May. I no longer am on the wiki and am not using my profile. I guess a late goodbye, and thanks for all the help back then. I'm sorry that you're leaving - it was great having you here. Is there a specific reason why you're leaving? Of course, you don't have to tell me if you don't want to. =) Thanks for the congrats.-- Madminecrafter12Orange Glazed TerracottaTalk to meLight Blue Glazed Terracotta 01:33, 1 August 2018 (UTC)

CREEPER INFO NEW

I discovered that if you use a potion or tipped arrow on a creeper, when the creeper explodes, it will have the effect used on it linger like a lingering potion. this is in java edition 1.13 version.–Preceding unsigned comment was added by 73.72.221.37 (talk) at 9 August 2018 (UTC). True! That was added in 1.11, it's on the Creeper page under Behavior. That must have been a fun discovery! – Sealbudsman talk | contribs 22:26, 9 August 2018 (UTC)

Items are "dropped" blocks or items (non-block resources) that appear in the world, rather than being in the inventory of a player or block entity; they are a type of entity.

Appearance
Items have two possible appearances, generally corresponding to whether the item appears as a 3D or 2D shape in a player's inventory screens. 3D items appear as their 3D shape, miniaturized to about 1 scale, while 2D items appear as 1 scale with all the pixels extruded into a cube. Both types slowly rotate and bob up and down; this is merely a visual effect, the item itself does not actually rotate or bob up and down.

Item entities that represent a stack of more than one item appear as several items stuck together. Stacks of 1 appear as one item, 2-16 as two items, 17–32 as three, 33-48 as four, and 49+ as five.

The rotation rate of the item is approximately 2.87675 degrees per tick, or 57.595 degrees per second.

Behavior
Item entities come from many sources. Some common ones are:
* The death of a mob or player.
* A block that is mined by a player, destroyed by an explosion, or washed away by water.
* An inventory item tossed by pressing the drop item key (default Q on PC, dpad-down on Xbox, down/dpad-down on Nintendo Switch, dpad-down on PlayStation) or dragging a stack outside of an inventory window.
** In the mobile versions of be, items in the hotbar can be dropped by pressing on the item's slot. The entire stack is dropped.
* A container (other than an ender chest or a shulker box) that is destroyed while holding items inside.

The player may be thought of as having an "item pickup" box that surrounds their hitbox. This pickup box extends 1 additional block to the horizontal sides, and 0.5 additional blocks up and down. Any item whose hitbox intersects with the pickup box can be picked up. The pickup box is inclusive on the horizontal sides (distance less than or equal to 1 will count), and exclusive on the vertical sides (distance less than 0.5 will count, but not equal). When the player's hitbox size changes, such as when crouchingjava or sleeping, the pickup box size changes with it.

Once an item entity's hitbox overlaps with the player's pickup box, it can transfer its items. As many items as can fit in the player inventory, excluding the armor slots and the off-hand slot, are transferred. If any item is transferred, a "plopping" sound is played. If all items are transferred, the items appear to move into the center of the player. The item entity never physically moves, however, which means it can appear to go through lava and blocks in its path. This can happen through blocks that are thinner than a full block, but also through the shared edge of two full blocks. Unlike experience orbs, multiple item entities can be picked up simultaneously. Dropped items have a delay of 10 ticks (half a second) between appearing and being able to be picked up, or 40 ticks (2 seconds) if thrown by a player, dolphin, or fox.

When two stackable items of the same type come within 3/4 of a block of each other, they merge into a single stack if the resulting stack size does not exceed that item's maximum stack size.

Items do not collide with other entities(except boats) and are only moved or stopped by blocks.

Like other entities, items can be pushed by flowing water and bubble columns, pushed by a piston, launched by a moving slime block, stuck to a honey block, or caught in a cobweb. Items move at faster speeds if ice is placed under the flowing water. When in still water, items float slowly up to the surface.

Items can be reared by fishing rods, costing 3 durability.je

If an item is within a solid block, then it flies out one of the unobstructed sides, or out of the top of the block if surrounded by solid blocks on all sides. It does this even if the space below is unoccupied; therefore, it is possible to recover an item dropped by breaking a hole in a floor by quickly placing another block there.

Items visually disappear when the player is about 16 blocks away from them, and reappear when they get closer. This distance can be adjusted by the "Entity Distance" slider in video settings.

Unlike most entities, items cannot be spectated in Spectator mode without use of the spectate command.

Damage
Items cannot be attacked by players or mobs; attempting to do so simply hits through them. However, they take damage and disappear from environmental or block-based damage such as explosions, fire, lava, and contact with cacti. Items have essentially no health, so they are destroyed by the slightest damage, though if set on fire they may remain for a few seconds before disappearing. Nether stars are immune to explosions, and netherite-based items and tools are immune to fire and float on top of lava. Also, some blocks that normally damage mobs, such as magma blocks, campfires, sweet berry bushes, wither roses and powder snow, do not damage items.

Despawning
Items despawn after 6000 game ticks (5 minutes) of being in a loaded, entity-ticking chunk; this is affected by the player's simulation distance. If two item stacks merge, the timer is set to the item that has more time remaining. The 5-minute timer is paused when the chunk is unloaded or no longer processing entities. Nether stars do not despawnbedrock.

Items that fall into the void immediately despawn when they fall below Y=-128 in the Overworld, or Y=-64 in the Nether and the End.

Natural generation
Copper horns were found in pillager outpost chests.

Usage
Copper horns were used to play sounds. They took one second to use and had a four second cooldown. There were ten variations of copper horns, and each of them played three different sounds: when looking up, crouching, or neither of those. In total, there were thirty different sounds that could be played using copper horns. The sound a copper horn plays based on multiple conditions, which are in order as follows:
* If crouching, the bass tune was played.
* Else, if looking up (by 45 degrees), the harmony tune was played.
* Else, the melody tune was played.

Sounds
Sound names in the item tooltip are created using the harmony, melody, and bass sounds in that order.

Trivia
* Copper horns were removed from the game as they didn't live up to the developers' design goals, and as such are no longer supported.
* This is the first item in be to have been completely removed instead of just made unobtainable. This is likely due to the fact it never made it out of experimental gameplay.
** If a world that contained this item is loaded into a newer version, the horn will disappear upon loading.

{{Item

Chorus fruit is a food item native to the End that can be eaten, or smelted into popped chorus fruit. It can be eaten even when the hunger bar is full, and eating it may teleport the player up to 8 blocks in any direction.

Obtaining
Tutorials/Chorus fruit farming

Chorus fruit can be obtained by breaking chorus plant blocks. Each block of chorus plant has a 50% chance to drop a chorus fruit. This is not affected by Fortune.

Usage
To eat chorus fruit, press and hold use while it is selected in the hotbar. Eating one restores 4 hunger and 2.4 hunger saturation.

Unlike most foods, chorus fruits can be eaten even when the player has a full hunger bar.

The player may also be teleported: up to 16 attempts are made to choose a random destination within ±8 on all three axes in the same manner as enderman teleportation, with the exception that the player may teleport into an area only 2 blocks high, or one block tall if the player is crawling. The player does not land in the average centroid of the block, but rather to any position within an 8-block range. The player will be teleported directly down to the ground regardless of the height it was used at if the player is too far from a valid destination.

The chorus fruit, unlike an ender pearl, can teleport the player through solid blocks. The algorithm tries to avoid fluids; the player cannot teleport into a space occupied by water or lava. However, the player can be teleported onto dangerous blocks such as fire, cacti and magma blocks.

If a teleport succeeds, a sound similar to an enderman teleporting plays originating from the teleportation origin location. Chorus fruit has a cooldown of 1 second before being able to be used again. The cooldown is represented by a white overlay on the chorus fruit in the hotbar. The cooldown is applied to all chorus fruits items, including those in the player's inventory and containers.

Eating chorus fruit may teleport the player into areas protected by bedrock, barrier blocks, or other blocks that are otherwise unbreakable in Survival mode. However, it cannot teleport the player onto the Nether roof.

Chorus fruit is completely non-functional above the nether roof.

Foxes can also eat chorus fruit and the teleportation effect works the same as with players.

Redstone is now used to craft compasses.
v1.2.0Tropical fish also have assigned names that can be seen after capture. In Java Edition, the smaller text under the item name is displayed showing the fish name, similar to the text that displays enchantments under enchanted items. In Bedrock Edition, the item name is displayed showing "Bucket of <fish name>". Their colors are mostly named according to the colored block names, though with a few exceptions:
 • White
 • Silver
 • Gray
 • Black
 • Brown
 • Red
 • Orange
 • Yellow
 • Lime
 • Green
 • Teal
 • Sky
 • Blue
 • Plum
 • Magenta
 • Rose

The base color comes first, and if the pattern color is different, it comes after that. Lastly, the fish bucket is given a name according to the shape and pattern of the fish:

Flopper Glitter Betty
Stripey Blockfish Clayfish
Tropical Fish Patterns
Kob Snooper Brinely
SunStreak Dasher Spotty

Some tropical fish don't follow the normal naming system, and instead, reference real-life fish species. Apart from these names, these types of fish aren't different from regular tropical fish in terms of design or behavior.

These varieties are:

Name Type
Anemone Orange-Gray Stripey
Black Tang Gray Flopper
Blue Dory ‌[Bedrock Edition only] Gray-Sky SunStreak

Hey Spiralio; absolutely, done. Honestly, I don't really like that edit filter; it basically restricts creation of new pages to only experienced users unless many different conditions are met; we might as well just formally disallow new users from creating pages altogether. Anyways, yeah, I've created it and given you the attribution. Disruptive editing on Tutorials/Defeating the ender dragon

User:205.174.240.232 has again reverted the section titles in this article, violating the style guide. I'd like to point out that this IP address belongs to an elementary school district in Cupertino, CA (per WHOIS). I am convinced this is the same person as User:162.234.248.192 for many reasons:

 • The latter IP is owned by AT&T, an ISP that serves the west coast, which is compatible with the theory that 162 lives near Cupertino
 • The timing of 162's edits coincide with mornings and evenings in California, and would be outside of elementary school hours
 • There is never any overlap in time of editing between these two IPs
 • They make identical edits and have recently focused exclusively on this article
 • They have the same editing style of tons of rapid mini-edits at a time
 • They both have ignored every attempt to communicate

I'm also convinced that 162.234.248.192 is the same person as User:TheFirePhoenix, based on comments on the latter's talk page and blocks performed by Orthotope at the end of August/beginning of September. TheFirePhoenix took a month-long break but has suddenly resumed today, editing (only) this article immediately following 205's edits. They also do not respond to communication attempts.

I feel like we've given this user ample time to notice and respond to our requests for communication, especially since on the rare occasions that they provide an edit summary, it seems to be a rebuttal of one of ours. This is been going on for 6 weeks; how much longer? – Auldrick (talk · contribs) 17:05, 25 October 2018 (UTC)

I forgot to mention that 205.174.240.232 (talkcontribslogsblock log) began editing at exactly the time of Orthotope's blocks. – Auldrick (talk · contribs) 17:29, 25 October 2018 (UTC)

Thank you Auldrick. I agree that the two IPs and account are no doubt the same, even just solely based off of behavioral evidence. I've issued 205.174.240.232 a final warning; I don't typically like to block good-faith contributors, particularly when they make many constructive contributions, but this user is refusing to communicate and a block is likely the only way to get them to stop. It's not so much the actual edits that are concerning as the fact that they are not willing to discuss the issue at all and just keep making the edit, edit warring. I've initially thought that blocking for a few hours or a day would suffice, but seeing as how 205 was already blocked for 1 day for edit warring and inserting outdated information, 162 was already blocked for a day for unexplained removal of content, and how TheFirePhoenix was already blocked for a day for removal of content, I would probably block for at least 3 days if any of the 3 IPs/accounts continue, as I believe that long of a block would be necessary to prevent disruption.-- Madminecrafter12Orange Glazed TerracottaTalk to meLight Blue Glazed Terracotta 18:25, 25 October 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for blocking them so quickly. BTW, I reverted 2 edits before I saw that the second one wasn't blatant vandalism/violation. I would have reverted it anyway, eventually, but I would have left an explanation. Sorry for not double checking first. – Auldrick (talk · contribs) 20:57, 25 October 2018 (UTC)
No problem. I'll block the other IP or the account for 3 days if either of them starts editing, but they haven't yet, so for now I'm not going to worry about that. As I mentioned, I hate blocking good-faith contributors, but this one would not stop edit warring and refused to communicate with other editors; competence is required when editing wikis. I wouldn't worry about the fact that you accidentally didn't leave an explanation; mistakes happen, and in this case, the IP was repeating the exact same edits that they made before which you did leave an explanation as to why they were inappropriate, so an explanation probably wouldn't have been that useful by this point.-- Madminecrafter12Orange Glazed TerracottaTalk to meLight Blue Glazed Terracotta 21:03, 25 October 2018 (UTC)
@Auldrick: I've blocked 162.234.248.192 for 3 days, as they've started editing again, including making the same edits changing section headings to title case.-- Madminecrafter12Orange Glazed TerracottaTalk to meLight Blue Glazed Terracotta 18:32, 28 October 2018 (UTC)

In addition, there are a number of other tasks you can do; including patrolling Special:RecentChanges and reverting vandalism using the undo button, updating new articles when new snapshots come out, creating new tutorials, going to a random page and seeing what you can improve on it, participating in discussions listed at the MCW:Community portal or its talk page... there's a lot you can do. Feel free to let me know if you have any questions or need any help.-- Madminecrafter12Orange Glazed TerracottaTalk to meLight Blue Glazed Terracotta 15:04, 9 November 2018 (UTC)

How Do you patrol a page?

I do not know how to patrol a page, can you teach me? Talk to me MinecraftfixerSponge

@Minecraftfixer: Do you mean to formally mark an edit as patrolled? If so, then you'll need to have either the patroller right or adminstrator right, which are only given to trusted and experienced users. Marking an edit as patrolled essentially means that a patroller has looked it over and any major issues (e.g. vandalism, false information, major grammatical errors) have been fixed. Any one can patrol Special:NewPages, though, and Special:RecentChanges, and make constructive edits to the pages there. Do you mean something else?-- Madminecrafter12Orange Glazed TerracottaTalk to meLight Blue Glazed Terracotta 16:17, 25 November 2018 (UTC)

I happened to see this just now. I had been wondering about this myself, after hunting around for how to do it. On the English Wikipedia, I believe any editor has the patroller right by default, and there is an option for experienced editors to mark all their edits as 'autopatrolled'. I didn't realize it works differently here. Thanks for the explanation. ~ Amatulic (talk) 18:02, 7 February 2019 (UTC)
@Amatulic: Actually, on the English Wikipedia, only new page reviewers can patrol (over there the more common term is "review"). The patrol/review feature was previously available to all autoconfirmed users, but after a discussion somewhere in 2016 I believe, the group new page reviewer (called "patroller" technically) was created for this purpose and the ability for any autoconfirmed user to patrol was removed. Also, on Wikipedia, only new pages are patrolled, while here all recent edits are. WP:NPR has more information.--Madminecrafter12 (Talk to me | View what I've done) 18:12, 7 February 2019 (UTC)
Also, Amatulic, if you'd like to have the patroller right I can ask a bureaucrat to give it to you. We do need more patrollers, and you are experienced on the Minecraft Wiki, have a need for the right, and have admin rights on Wikipedia, so I doubt there would be any issue with granting it. You might find it helpful to read this. Let me know if you have any questions.--Madminecrafter12 (Talk to me | View what I've done) 18:16, 7 February 2019 (UTC)
Well, live and learn. I've been an admin on en-Wiki since 2010 and I missed that 2016 WP:NPR page. I did notice the list of user rights has grown but didn't notice what had changed. I've often granted users other rights (mostly rollback and pending changes reviewer) but never new page patroller.
Thanks, I just read read Minecraft Wiki:Patrollers. Looks like patrol and rollback rolled into one. I confess I don't understand the need to patrol every single edit rather than pages (such a thing wouldn't scale on Wikipedia). But I'm happy to have the patroller right if I can help out. ~ Amatulic (talk) 05:00, 8 February 2019 (UTC)
@Amatulic: Patrolling edits is helpful because it helps make sure vandalism and false information do not slip through cracks, although the backlog of unpatrolled edits is giant so it's not doing too much good right now (also, the patrol limit expires after 90 days I think). To be a bit pedantic, we don't patrol every single edit, many users have autopatrol, which works similar to how the same right is on Wikipedia.
Such a thing would be extremely impractical on Wikipedia, because if I'm doing my math correctly and remember correctly the year both MCW and WP were created, about 51,600,000 edits are made to Wikipedia every year, while it's only about 107,761 per year over here. That's about a 500x difference!
Anyways, since you would like to help out and as I said above, I don't see any issues with granting the patroller right, I'm pinging Dinoguy1000 as the most active bureaucrat to see if they would be okay with giving it to you.--Madminecrafter12 (Talk to me | View what I've done) 14:22, 8 February 2019 (UTC)
Thanks, I see my user rights have changed.
As far as I can tell, unpatrolled edits are indicated only on the recent changes page and in diffs. Anywhere else?
Is there any point in patrolling anything but the most recent edit to a page? I see some articles with unpatrolled (yet constructive) edits but other edits have happened since; I could mark the old ones as patrolled but I don't see the benefit. And just to see how it works, I patrolled a bunch of edits a user made to one of his own subpages, but again, if it's in the user's own space, is there a need to patrol those? ~ Amatulic (talk) 23:09, 9 February 2019 (UTC)

By default, unpatrolled edits are only indicated on the recent changes page, but due to a gadget that is on by default for patrollers (so you have it) they are indicated on history, diff, and revision pages. Currently, there is no way to view the patrol status anywhere else.

Patrolling is used to check individual edits, not the current state of a page, so if constructive edits are unpatrolled on a page but recent edits have been made after them, it makes sense to go ahead and mark them as patrolled. I think the only reason why patrolling the userspace would be useful is to not have the recent changes feed cluttered with userspace edits, as userspace vandalism that is so severe it needs removing/deletion does not occur often. We may should look into somehow removing the patrol status/option for userspace pages, but that may be more trouble than it's worth.--Madminecrafter12 (Talk to me | View what I've done) 23:24, 9 February 2019 (UTC)

Looking through the recent changes, it occurs to me that some patrolling workload could be eliminated if an admin or two performed a monthly sampling of the edits needing patrolling to find constructive, active users who keep showing up, and give them the 'autopatrolled' right without making them patrollers. I keep finding a few of the same usernames (xBakedPotatox and BSkyWcloud come to mind) who strike me as being safe to make autopatrolled. There isn't much point in patrolling the edits of users who are known to be constructive. Usernames that gamepedia tags with "PRO" are likely also safe, but I don't know if it's technically possible to link that tag with a user right. ~ Amatulic (talk) 22:59, 10 February 2019 (UTC)
@Amatulic: Thanks. Now that autopatrol can be granted by admins (as opposed to just bureaucrats, as it was just a few weeks ago I believe), I do think I will do regular checks of recent changes and see if anybody always makes constructive, mostly error-free edits and is a regular on MCW. I did such a check a few days ago, and ironically, I noticed that BSkyWcould, Xbaked potatox, and one or two other users, could probably be safe to grant autopatrol. I kept meaning to do a quick check of their contribs just to ensure that it would be okay to grant, but I've gotten busy with other stuff. Will check and give an update in a minute.--Madminecrafter12 (Talk to me | View what I've done) 23:40, 10 February 2019 (UTC)
I've now granted autopatrol status to the two users you mentioned (I had a few concerns about BSkyWcould, such as not signing talk page posts, but nothing major that would prevent me from granting), as well as to Jjlrjjlr, another user who I've been thinking about giving autopatrol for a while now. Let me know if there are any other users you can think of.--Madminecrafter12 (Talk to me | View what I've done) 23:51, 10 February 2019 (UTC)
Here are a couple of others for consideration: ImakerB (talkcontribslogsblock log) and User-100221518 (talkcontribslogsblock log). They're both pretty active and appear to be making improvements. ~ Amatulic (talk) 05:21, 11 February 2019 (UTC)
Oppose ImakerB, their edits always need grammatical fixes. I also vaguely remember one of the User-s having issues with their edits but I can't remember which one (why are they obfuscated in the first place?). – Nixinova Nixinova sig image 1 Nixinova sig image 2 05:34, 11 February 2019 (UTC)
Nixinova: some usernames were obfuscated when gamepedia moved to Fandom, and those users who did not give consent to the move of their account data, got their username randomized. There is a rename option but I see some people are choosing not to use it.
Amatulic: I just wanted to mention just in case, to be careful when patrolling constructive edits in the mainspace when they add or modify information about the game. An edit might not always appear to be vandalism, but false information is easily hidden in an edit that changes content. If you don't know whether a certain statement is true or not, you can use the MCW:Patroller requests page, otherwise please help making sure edits are not injecting false or misleading information. – Jack McKalling [ Book and Quill Diamond Pickaxe ] 12:24, 11 February 2019 (UTC)
I'm not sure about giving ImakerB autopatrol; they do make constructive edits, but as Nix pointed out, they always need grammatical fixes. Of course, you don't have to have perfect grammar to be autopatrol, but it's hard to understand what Imaker is trying to say in many of their edits. I don't know 100221518 very well so I won't make a hasty decision about them, but after taking a glance at their contribs some of their edits do need checking and I think it would probably be better to have them get a bit more experience on the MCW before having their edits autopatrolled.--Madminecrafter12 (Talk to me | View what I've done) 14:43, 11 February 2019 (UTC)
When I recommended ImakerB, most of the edits I saw were minor updates to history versions; that was the bulk of the changes I had seen at the time. I hadn't looked at the user's prose, which I agree is full of grammar errors. Possibly English isn't the user's first language. Since then I have corrected grammar in edits I've patrolled. @Jack McKalling: Generally I check or rely on my knowledge in the case of changes to game information. Sometimes I learn something surprising, like you can now tie a lead to a skeleton horse and lead it around (a change by an anonymous IP) which I checked in creative mode and sure enough it worked. So I marked that patrolled. That said, I will probably make mistakes. ~ Amatulic (talk) 01:47, 13 February 2019 (UTC)

How to create a template

I don't know, can you tell me?–Preceding unsigned comment was added by Minecraftfixer (talkcontribs) at 16:48, 25 November 2018 (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

@Minecraftfixer: To create a whole new template, go to Template:TEMPLATENAMEHERE and write the text in there. Template syntax can be quite complicated, particularly with parameters and parser functions; I can try to teach you some of it if you want. Once you've created it, you can add TEMPLATENAMEHERE to any page and it will transclude the template onto that page. To modify the text of an award template, write Your text here wherever you want the award to appear. I hope this helps you out a bit; let me know if you need help with anything in specific.-- Madminecrafter12Orange Glazed TerracottaTalk to meLight Blue Glazed Terracotta 17:06, 25 November 2018 (UTC)

Minecraftfixer, yes it appears as a broken link, but that's because I'm just showing that any template is just like a normal page but with the Template: prefix; TEMPLATENAMEHERE should be substituted with the template name. For example, if you wanted to create a template called "Stuff," you would create it as Template:Stuff. Any page or template that hasn't been created will always show up as a dead link. :-)-- Madminecrafter12Orange Glazed TerracottaTalk to meLight Blue Glazed Terracotta 01:18, 26 November 2018 (UTC)

How do you edit a template?

--Andrew36903690 (talk) 00:27, 28 November 2018 (UTC)

@Andrew36903690: To edit a template, go to "Template:[TemplateName]." For example, if you want to go to the Official resources template which appears as official resources in the wiki-code, enter "Template:Official resources" in the search box. To actually edit it, just click "edit" or "edit source" - which one appears depends on what you've set your preferences to and save changes once you've done everything needed. However, it's important to know that editing a template is quite different than editing an article, as generally there is a lot of coding involved that looks different within the source editor than it does when displayed as a saved page. I'm going to refer partially to the advice Auldrick kindly gave me at User talk:Madminecrafter12/Archive 1#About editing templates while I was still a newcomer. Although a lot of the advice is specific to the {[tl|tutorials}} template and has some other information that is not relevant for this particular scenario, it does contain a lot of helpful advice when editing templates; specifically "There's a difference in how templates are presented when you're viewing and editing them. When you're viewing them (like you would an article), what you see should be documentation on how the template is used, but when you hit the Edit button you'll see the actual content of the template instead. The content is what gets included in the pages that call the template." I hope this gets you off to a good start and if there's a specific template you need help editing I'd be happy to try to help you out with that in particular; the world of templates is very large and diverse!-- Madminecrafter12Orange Glazed TerracottaTalk to meLight Blue Glazed Terracotta 04:14, 28 November 2018 (UTC)

Of course Minecraftfixer; I never hold grudges on this wiki, I just try to do what's best for the encyclopedia. Visual editor works only on articles and on userpages; it won't work on this page because it's a user talk page. What exactly you need to do depends on what you have in your preferences. When you go to an article such as Creative, do you see an edit button AND an edit source button, or just an edit button? Once you tell me, I can let you know the next thing to do to go into the visual editor.-- Madminecrafter12Orange Glazed TerracottaTalk to meLight Blue Glazed Terracotta 17:14, 25 November 2018 (UTC)

Thanks, Minecraftfixer. What happens when you click the normal "edit" button instead of the "edit source" button? If you do that, then the visual editor should be what shows up, as long as you do in fact have both buttons. If the source editor somehow shows up instead, go to the top-right corner of the editing toolbar area, click the pencil icon, and select the "visual editing" option with the eye rather than the "source editing" option with the brackets. I hope this helps you out a bit.-- Madminecrafter12Orange Glazed TerracottaTalk to meLight Blue Glazed Terracotta 01:20, 26 November 2018 (UTC)

Superinbox administration

May I please be an admin? --Superinbox (talk) 19:04, 7 December 2018 (UTC)

Hey Superinbox; while you enthusiasm is appreciated, we unfortunately can't just make anyone an admin. We generally like to see hundreds of edits, preferably thousands, proving that someone is primarily here to contribute to helping this encyclopedia grow and solid evidence that they know when the admin tools should be used, as well as many months of experience. If you want to be an admin, my best advice would be to put that thought aside and instead try to help the Minecraft Wiki as much as possible and only even think about whether adminship is something you and the community want until you have a lot of experience and a solid need for the admin tools. Most work done on the Minecraft Wiki does not need admin rights to complete. If you're looking for ways to help, MCW:How to help and MCW:Projects would be great places to start; you can also patrol Special:RecentChanges to see a feed of all the edits that have recently been made to the wiki in real time. I hope this helps get you off to a good start and feel free to let me know if you have any questions.-- Madminecrafter12Orange Glazed TerracottaTalk to meLight Blue Glazed Terracotta 19:14, 7 December 2018 (UTC)

Conduits tutorial

I thought Tutorials/Conduits contained significantly more information than what is included in the Conduits page. That's why I had asked the author of that tutorial to create it: I wanted to know what sort of preparation is required to obtain a conduit. Was there a deletion discussion? ~ Amatulic (talk) 20:21, 29 December 2018 (UTC)

@Amatulic: Thanks for leaving me a message here; I'd be happy to explain.
I looked carefully at the article before deleting it to make sure there wasn't any significant information not included on the Conduit page, and there was not any. The tutorial page contained a lead section, a short Structure section, and a short Effect section. The Structure section contained a little bit of information of what blocks are needed to build the conduit and how far the range of the effect extends, as well a schematic with a caption directly copied from the Conduit page; nothing at all that isn't mentioned in more detail on the Conduit page. The Effect section described what the Conduit Power effect does, which is repeated both on the Conduit page and the Status effect page. It is true that the Effect section contained a single half of a sentence that was not repeated on the Conduit page: "this allows the conduit to be used in AFK (away from keyboard) mob farms." But I consider that a very minor thing and certainly not a case where a whole new page should be created just for that; the tutorial seemed to be more of a summary of the Conduit page rather than an expansion of it adding actual tutorial information. I could email the full text to you if you'd like.
No, there wasn't any deletion discussion. The vast majority of deletions on MCW are done without any discussion; unlike Wikipedia, we often delete pages without discussion or delay without meeting any certain very strict criteria (although on Wikipedia this particular one may could've gotten away with an A10). Where did you ask the author to create it? I didn't know that there was any kind of discussion about this before this was created or I would have taken a look before deleting; apologies for that. All this being said, if you still think the tutorial is useful, I'm fine with restoring it or another admin doing so; I generally don't care if my deletions are restored as long as there is a reason for it. I hope this answers your question a bit.-- Madminecrafter12Orange Glazed TerracottaTalk to meLight Blue Glazed Terracotta 22:27, 29 December 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for the explanation.
I had asked the author of that tutorial to created it because it wasn't clear to me at the time what one has to do to create a conduit. My request is on his talk page: User talk:Gregatron6000.
Emailing the source isn't necessary, but thanks for offering. My interest in obtaining conduits had more to do with how I can do underwater operations in Minecraft without potions; the tutorials here seem to emphasize the Java edition, but I play Bedrock, and due to waterlogging everything in Bedrock, the Java edition underwater techniques don't work. For several years now, Bedrock has had more new installations than Java, to the point where it's likely the largest installed base by now. ~ Amatulic (talk) 22:49, 30 December 2018 (UTC)
Amatulic No problem. One note though, according to the deleted history, Gregatron6000 was not actually the author of the page; in fact, he did not make any edits to the page.-- Madminecrafter12Orange Glazed TerracottaTalk to meLight Blue Glazed Terracotta 22:57, 30 December 2018 (UTC)
Amatulic, oh, wait... it looks like Gregatron created a separate tutorial called Tutorials/Acquiring a conduit which still exists, containing a lot of useful info not mentioned on the Conduit page.-- Madminecrafter12Orange Glazed TerracottaTalk to meLight Blue Glazed Terracotta 22:59, 30 December 2018 (UTC)
I see. In that case I must have been confused. I had noticed your deletion of the conduit tutorial and thought it was the one about acquiring. I've grown accustomed to the ability to look at deleted history as an admin on Wikipedia, but I can't do that here. I should have thought to check Gregatron6000's contributions, then I would have noticed the tutorial I had in mind still exists. ~ Amatulic (talk) 03:19, 31 December 2018 (UTC)
The confusion is completely understandable considering the title of the tutorial page that I deleted; it's certainly not your fault just because you didn't check the contribs. I think knowing this clears things up a lot for both of us! I've had a similar problem regarding the whole deleted history thing the other way around; there have been several times I've been dealing with LTAs on Wikipedia and I try to find the block button, but of course it's not there.-- Madminecrafter12Orange Glazed TerracottaTalk to meLight Blue Glazed Terracotta 03:32, 31 December 2018 (UTC)

Global AF Blocking a New Page On ModJam Created By Me

Hi! I was trying to contribute to the Minecraft Wiki by creating a new page on the Minecraft ModJam events (title: ModJam) (I can't insert a link to it as it hasn't been generated yet because of the probelm) and the Global AF disallowed my action. Please let me know if it was because of me or if it's just a temporary issue. Thank you in advance! --GIBBI02 (talk) 20:41, 4 January 2019 (UTC)

As a guess, possibly MCW:NOTABILITY requires that articles related to mods be put in a subpage of Mods? ~ Amatulic (talk) 20:51, 4 January 2019 (UTC)
Sorry for the new post, I wasn't able to reply to the previous one.
I've tried changing the category of my page to Mods, but Global AF still rejected it. Description: Large spam pages.
Could you please check on this to make sure it's not my fault? What can I change in order to submit my page? Thanks for replying in advance. --GIBBI02 (talk) 21:30, 4 January 2019 (UTC)
You can reply by using double colons. Just click the edit link of the section and manually format your text this way. I did it for you as an example. – Jack McKalling [ Talk Contrib ] 21:43, 4 January 2019 (UTC)
@GIBBI02: I didn't mean put it in the mods category, but make it a sub-page, like ModJam events. No idea if that will work. Try creating it in your sandbox first and then moving it. I always advise against working on drafts in a public article space. ~ Amatulic (talk) 23:25, 4 January 2019 (UTC)
@Amatulic: Oh, I see. Well, I tried creating a subpage for it under Mods. The previous error message (Large spam pages) is now gone, but an automated filter still disallowed it because I'm a new user. I believe my edit is constructive, so I don't see any problem with it. What else can I do for it to work? --GIBBI02 (talk) 11:49, 5 January 2019 (UTC)
Hi GIBBI02 and Amatulic; although Mod pages should be placed under a subpage of Mods, that's not the reason your (GIBBI) edit did not go through. It was a false positive from a filter which disallows the creation of any page by a newer user unless they meet very strict conditions; it was not your fault. I personally do not like that filter because it has so many false positives and makes it very difficult for a new user to create a page, but it also catches a ton of junk. Regardless, since this was a false positive, likely notable due to being hosted by a Minecraft dev, and is clearly not a hoax based on a Google search, I've created the page. Since this an event that just happens to involve mods rather than a page about mods, I haven't added the Mods prefix, although I'd be happy to move it should others disagree with the current title. If this happens again, yeah, usually the best you can do is let me or another admin know directly, just like you did now, or post at the admin noticeboard. Thanks for helping improve the Minecraft Wiki by expanding it with new content, GIBBI02!-- Madminecrafter12Orange Glazed TerracottaTalk to meLight Blue Glazed Terracotta 13:51, 5 January 2019 (UTC)
Argh, so used to my Wikipedia ways, repinging Amatulic, this time using the correct template.-- Madminecrafter12Orange Glazed TerracottaTalk to meLight Blue Glazed Terracotta 13:53, 5 January 2019 (UTC)
Thanks for the explanation. @GIBBI02: one advantage to working on drafts in your sandbox first, is it lets you accumulate edits in your contribution history to the point where you become trusted enough by the system for new page creations and moves. I'm not sure what the criteria are here, but on Wikipedia your account needs at least 4 days and 10 edits under your belt before you're allowed to create or move a page. ~ Amatulic (talk) 23:48, 5 January 2019 (UTC)
Technically, on Gamepedia even unregistered users are able to create content pages, and registering automatically grants the autoconfirmed user right. This wiki in particular has some edit filters that disallow certain actions such as creating most pages, but they tend to loosen up once you get 5-10 edits. There are also Gamepedia global filters that local admins don't have access to view, but I imagine they should also loosen up after a similar amount of edits. –Sonicwave talk 00:24, 6 January 2019 (UTC)

Don't abuse your powers

Please reduce the length of your latest IP block. A measly 3 edits does not warrant a 1-week block. MarcelTheHippie (talkcontribslogs) 15:50, 9 January 2019 (UTC)

Better idea. Don’t tell admins how they should use their powers. Plus, last I checked, the block was three days, not a week. -BDJP (t|c) 15:53, 9 January 2019 (UTC)
They mean https://minecraft.gamepedia.com/User:205.222.3.225, which is blocked for a week. FVbico (talk) 15:54, 9 January 2019 (UTC)
Hi MarcelTheHippie; I appreciate your concerns, but I disagree with your synthesis. Their edits were blatant vandalism, and if you look at the abuse log, you can actually see more edits they tried to do but were stopped. A week is actually a quite short time and they can appeal the block on their talk page anytime. I'm actually more lenient than many when it comes to blocking; on most Gamepedia wikis I've seen, if an IP vandalizes one time they're blocked for 2 weeks. I think the block length is reasonable and I don't see much point in shortening it. Cheers, -- Madminecrafter12Orange Glazed TerracottaTalk to meLight Blue Glazed Terracotta 15:57, 9 January 2019 (UTC)
MarcelTheHippie I agree a week is lenient for blatant vandalism, especially if the IP address is a residential DHCP address from an ISP or school. Over on the English Wikipedia, a registered user whose first 3 edits are blatant vandalism typically earns a permanent block. If an IP address is identified as coming from a school, it can be blocked up to 3 years. One week for the first block on a school IP address isn't unreasonable.
In the case of 205.222.3.225, it's assigned to Montgomery County Public Schools in Maryland, and it is currently blocked for 1 year on the English Wikipedia. Blocking it here for a week to start with is fine. When the block lifts, the vandalism will likely continue. ~ Amatulic (talk) 17:49, 9 January 2019 (UTC)

My Page!

Hello, I want to post a new page with a new way of redstone. It is called a Toggleable Redstone Clock and it was detected as "unwanted page". what do i do? Ianthegreat144 (talk) 22:54, 18 January 2019 (UTC)

Hi Ianthegreat144; sorry that happened, you got caught in an abuse filter meant to catch pages that are spam, vandalism etc. but often hits false positives, like your creation. That being said, I'm not sure your creation needs a separate article. We already have the page Clock circuit. If your design or a similar one isn't mentioned there, I'd suggest adding a section for it there. If you'd like to use the image there, I can restore it for you. Let me know if you need any further help.-- Madminecrafter12Orange Glazed TerracottaTalk to meLight Blue Glazed Terracotta 23:06, 18 January 2019 (UTC)
Ianthegreat144: if that subject you want to create a article for isn't mentioned on the page Madminecrafter displayed above, you can add it to one of the Redstone subpagea of Tutorials. – Nixinova Nixinova sig image 1 Nixinova sig image 2 02:34, 19 January 2019 (UTC)

Auto-patrol candidates

Another: iFk13rAR6E0= - mostly gnomish maintenance edits related to German interwiki links; the few substantive changes have been constructive. Fairly new editor though (since December), so may bear watching a bit. ~ Amatulic (talk) 23:02, 15 February 2019 (UTC)

@Amatulic: Thanks,  Done. They are a bit on the new side here, but none of the hundred edits they have made would require patrolling (it's a fairly wide variety of edits as well, not just interwiki links), so I don't see a reason not to grant this.--Madminecrafter12 (Talk to me | View what I've done) 23:09, 15 February 2019 (UTC)
Also I patrolled a couple of edits by ThePenguinMan today. That user has been around for 3 years, not much activity, but makes constructive edits, looking at the contribution history. ~ Amatulic (talk) 17:03, 1 March 2019 (UTC)
I'm not necessarily opposed to ThePenguinMan gaining autopatrol, but they have made very few edits and after taking a look at their contributions I'm seeing a few errors that would likely be picked up by patrollers, that would easily be fixed by a bit more experience. They're minor, yes, but without much of a contribution history to look at I'm not sure if I'd be comfortable with giving them autopatrol just yet, but have no objections to another admin doing so.--Madminecrafter12 (Talk to me | View what I've done) 21:06, 1 March 2019 (UTC)
I mentioned that user as someone to keep an eye on, a long-term editor but with few edits.
There's another one (just the opposite), Noeuahi (talkcontribslogsblock log), who has been here only a few months but has many edits, appears to contribute every day, and so far as I've seen, the contributions look good. ~ Amatulic (talk) 23:39, 3 March 2019 (UTC)
Thanks, I'll take a look.--Madminecrafter12 (Talk to me | View what I've done) 23:49, 3 March 2019 (UTC)
Have a look at Capopanzone (talkcontribslogsblock log) also. Been here 5 years, makes a small number of constructive edits each week. ~ Amatulic (talk) 00:51, 4 March 2019 (UTC)

About Trader Llama NBT Data

I initially intended to create a new data page Llama/ED2 and templates for trader llama. You have optimized it to one extra entry in Llama/ED, but that despawn delay counter is only present on trader llamas (does not exist on regular llamas). How should we handle this case? Liachmodded (talk) 23:04, 15 February 2019 (UTC)

Hi Liachmodded, thanks for leaving me a message here. Two EDs doesn't seem necessary, especially with the second one mostly repeating the whole first, which is why I fulfilled the deletion request by another user, as there's just one data property trader llamas have exclusive to them and everything else is shared with llamas (and of course the two mobs are on the same page). The /ED page does say "A timer for trader llamas to despawn", so it mentions fairly clearly that that data property is exclusive to trader llamas, but it's possible that a reader may miss that. Maybe we could have the DespawnDelay section titled DespawnDelay (trader llamas only) instead or something? Or add (trader llamas only) at the end of it? Another option is we could restore the ED2 page, but have it only contain the one data property exclusive to trader llamas in particular, edit Llama/ED so that it does not contain that property, and on the article simply have, after the transclusion of Llama/ED, "In addition to having all of the above data properties, trader llamas also have the following:" (I don't know much about data value terminology :)). I'm certainly open to suggestions. Pinging FVbico as the user who originally requested deletion of the page. Cheers, --Madminecrafter12 (Talk to me | View what I've done) 23:18, 15 February 2019 (UTC)
Just to add on to that, the fish_(mob)/ED page lists NBT for 4 different mobs even, so I see now problem with 1 extra field that quite clearly mentions it only applies to one of them. FVbico (talk) 23:24, 15 February 2019 (UTC)
Thanks so much for your response FVbico! Will add a note that the field is only present int minecraft:trader_llama. Liachmodded (talk) 05:38, 17 February 2019 (UTC)

Hello there

I know I broke the rules of the Herobrine talk page but I just had to post it you know? All I put there was true, though I don't mind it being deleted. I am curious about what you thought of it though. If you read it anyway.Somethingoriginai (talk) 00:52, 4 March 2019 (UTC)

@Somethingoriginai: I really don't know the exact circumstances behind this "Herobrine" appearance of yours but I can tell you that Herobrine is definitely not real. Further discussion is not going to make me change my mind. There are various ways to improve the Minecraft Wiki if you'd like, however, see MCW:How to help, but this is the end of the Herobrine discussion.--Madminecrafter12 (Talk to me | View what I've done) 00:53, 4 March 2019 (UTC)
I have no Idea how to reply so I'll just put it here. Thanks for responding. I'm not trying to change any minds, just tryna put out a genuine happening. I honestly have no clue how it happened myself, but thanks! Somethingoriginai (talk) 00:58, 4 March 2019 (UTC)

Thanks dear MadMinecrafter12

Hi. I would like to thank you for your tireless work as a bureaucrat and administrator. You always conduct yourself with respect, intelligence and kindness. I wish you all the best :3 'u'

One day I'll be able to be as skilled as you ^^.

Yesterday (19/03/2019) there was the meeting of the president of Brazil and the United States, who secondly claimed that we are the largest western democracies in America. This brought me to mind as the people of your country are made aware, you have also been a wonderful person. Even with the dangers of the internet, if we know how to use it efficiently and wisely, we can have the opportunity to meet great friends.Iludido (talk) 20:27, 20 March 2019 (UTC)

Thank you very much for the kind message, Iludido. I hope that you keep up your good work here as well; you've been making some very useful contribs content-wise, which is much appreciated.--Madminecrafter12 (Talk to me | View what I've done) 20:58, 20 March 2019 (UTC)

Reception

You're one of the favorite people I met here. With wise edits, I'm happy to see you with many positions as the guardian wiki in the Gamepedia help wiki.

I definitely need to learn more about editing with you. Then keep going with your gorgeous, glaring work. Moreover, I liked your dog and bear pictures! 💜💝

Bonus: a good music to you hear I used an other link to prevent spam filters...:3–Preceding unsigned comment was added by Marinah (talkcontribs) at 1:07, 20 April 2019 (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

I tried to make and save a page, but this application wouldn't let me. Could you help?

This problem occurred to me this morning when I tried to make a page on why Herobrine is fake. It told me my page may be unwanted and I was not trusted as a new user. It also told me to talk to an administrator and Madminecrafter12 was on the list, so I tried you out. Could you please help me and my problem? –Preceding unsigned comment was added by Loopteyloopz (talkcontribs) at 13:07, 29 April 2019‎ (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

Hi Loopteyloopz, thank you for reaching out. Your edit was caught in an abuse filter which is designed to prevent the creation of new pages that are vandalism and spam, but often hits false positives. Your creation was obviously not vandalism or spam, so I'm sorry for the inconvenience of not being able to save your edit. I personally would support loosening a bit the filter you were caught in, because it has a large number of false positives, making it very difficult for any new user to create a new article.
Now, as for the actual page. Again, it was obviously not vandalism or spam, and I'm happy that you're wanting to encourage people that Herobrine is not real; however, I do not think the page is necessary. We already have the Herobrine page, which is meant to cover the origin of Herobrine and that he is not real; the page you tried to create did not contain any more info about why Herobrine is fake than the Herobrine page already does. If you know of more information that could be added about Herobrine, you are more than welcome to add it to that page. Do note that this is an encyclopedia, so phrases (quoted from the page you tried to create) such as "You may or may not believe in the myth of Herobrine" and "That is all" are generally not considered relevant.
I hope this helps clarify things and please let me know if you have any questions! Cheers, --Madminecrafter12 (Talk to me | View what I've done) 13:38, 29 April 2019 (UTC)
