October 2011

I think that this page ought to be deleted, as it covers very little content not mentioned in the Mobs article, and none that isn't covered elsewhere in the wiki. dlgn

I think that there should be more example tactics by real players.– Unsigned comment added by 184.53.16.68 (talk) at 04:24, 19 March 2021 (UTC). Sign comments with ~~~~

this page is incomplete at the moment, and it is supposed to put information about fighting mobs in one easy place, not spread throughout the wiki on 22(?) different pages. that makes it easier to find this info. -El_Barto_227, The Half-Creeper! 02:57, 12 October 2011 (UTC)

Agreed. We need a collection of tactics for fighting. Maybe should be moved to Tutorials/Combat? --HexZyle 04:26, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
i agree to moving the page, combat sounds better than the one i used El_Barto_227, The Half-Creeper! 04:34, 27 October 2011 (UTC)

Needs updating

Since 1.8, new hostile mobs have been added. 96.243.187.151 16:32, 17 November 2011 (UTC)

I see info on all the new hostile mobs from endermen to blazes

Fishing rod

The fishing rod is an easy way to get rid of mobs with having all drops. What you do is build a tall column of material and stand on it. Now, hook a mob with the fishing rod. now pull up. the mob will be launched towards you. When it comes down, it will most likely take fall damage. Against enderman, build a cieling for a two block high space. For spiders, build a second layer on the second row so spiders can't clomb up. ----TexasMike10

Attack-Blocking technique

If you want to kill mobs without dying, simply stand still and button-mash attack and block at the same time. This means that you can attack and block together, and have a higher chance of not dying.

Also helps for PVP. PrinceCooshie101 03:25, 19 June 2013 (UTC)

Creeper distance - Distance is not based on actual blocks between you and creeper?

"Please note that you may think that you are two blocks away in the game, but actually you may be closer, depending on your graphics or perspective (e.g. looking up vs. looking straight ahead)."

I have never heard of this! Are they implying that my actual location is based on camera placement, not player placement? Please give a link so I can learn what is being mentioned here. (and add it to the article - that would be nice) Thanks! 50.181.85.8 20:19, 28 February 2014 (UTC)

Old time-sensitive phrasing

Tutorials/Combat#Lava_bucket
"This method is also able to ignite enemy TNT at a distance in the upcoming version 1.4 when not equipped with a flame bow.
Tutorials/Combat#Cactus
"Those are effective against Creeper, however due to the new 1.2 update they might avoid it."

Can someone verify these, and then remove the time-sensitive phrasing? --98.114.238.150 16:07, 11 June 2014 (UTC)

Testing combat techniques

All the combat techniques even the most risky ones can be tested on new mod MC Combat Training. In it you have no damage. The damage is just reported to you so you can try again and again until you are fit to fight.

Remove tamable mobs

The section "tamable mobs" does not seem to be necessary; after all, this is a tutorial on combat, and not a tutorial on how to tame mobs. I agree the "wolves" sub-section should be kept in, because they can be hard to fight, but they could just be moved to the section "neutral mobs". As for ocelots and horses, because they are defenseless, combating them is not any more difficult than combating passive mobs, which are not mentioned in the article. Would it be okay if I deleted the section "tamable mobs"? --02:47, 2 December 2017 (UTC)Madminecrafter12

It has been done - I have removed the section "Tamable mobs" and moved the sub-section "Wolves" to "Neutral mobs." Please debate here if there are any objections.--Madminecrafter12 (talk) 16:34, 26 December 2017 (UTC)

End Crystal Combat

Since you are talking about tnt and other utility combat options, why not include the highest level of weaponry (required in anarchy servers or other things like that) which is end crystal? Just an idea.
