Irregular Spawn Egg Behavior[]

I right clicked a sheep spawn egg but it gave me zombie instead.

Page issue?[]

There seems to be an issue with this page's quote, can someone please fix it? -75.179.18.235 00:13, 20 May 2016 (UTC)

Can you take a screenshot of what you see? The quote looks fine from here. – Sealbudsman talk/contr 01:10, 20 May 2016 (UTC)

CE Eggs[]

CrustySaturn23, you listed Blaze, Cave Spider, Ghast and Magma Cube eggs for Console Edition. Can you, or anybody who plays console, let us know what update these were added? – Sealbudsman talk/contr 01:10, 20 May 2016 (UTC)

I don't play console, so I decided to check the version history. It appears every single spawn egg of the mobs listed were added in TU9. -BDJP (t|c) 09:08, 20 May 2016 (UTC)
Oh good, thanks for pointing me in that direction; just found an Xbox 360 video, showing TU9 spawn eggs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_aWCSOltPvk#t=2m25s and it shows those four, plus the squid, which is literally all the 1.1 spawn eggs, as you said. – Sealbudsman talk/contr 17:16, 20 May 2016 (UTC)

Old spawn eggs[]

Can someone find and upload individual images of the 11w49a spawn eggs for use in the History section? - MinecraftPhotos4U (talk) 09:37, 4 September 2016 (UTC)

Well I have the images now, but can someone add them to Template:InvSprite? - MinecraftPhotos4U (talk) 12:21, 4 September 2016 (UTC)
It's not protected, you can do it yourself. Just open the sprite editor, and drag the images into the outdated section. MajrTalk

can't do that. My computer isn't connected to the Internet yet and I don't know any ways to edit the file on mobile without irreversibly turning it into a jpg. - MinecraftPhotos4U (talk) 12:42, 4 September 2016 (UTC)
The sprite editor kind of works on phones. The interface isn't optimal, but it should work unless your browser is too old. MajrTalk

Pocket Edition Spawn Egg changes in 0.16.0[]

As of 0.16.0, Spawn Eggs in Pocket Edition can spawn more than just mobs. Spawn eggs obtained using the /give command can also spawn the following entities:

Entity Name Id
ItemEntity 64
PrimedTnt 65
ExperiencePotion 68
ExperienceOrb 69
FishingHook 77
Arrow 80
Snowball 81
ThrownEgg 82
Minecart 84
LargeFireball 85
ThrownPotion 86
LeashFenceKnotEntity 88
WitherSkull 89
Boat 90
LightningBolt 93
SmallFireball 94
MinecartHopper 96
MinecartTNT 97
MinecartChest 98

To obtain these eggs, use the command:

/give playername spawn_egg 1 id

Also, the Player (Id 63) and WitherBoss (Id 52) spawn eggs are technically valid, but don't spawn anything when used because of a lack of data when spawning.

However, I don't know where to place this info on the page; what would be a good section, and should the table be formatted to match the existing list? Jocopa3 (talk) 02:53, 27 October 2016 (UTC)

Thanks! I'd forgotten to grab a few of those new mob entity IDs as well, so I filled those in as well ... – Sealbudsman talk/contr 05:42, 28 October 2016 (UTC)

Using spawn eggs on any side of a block[]

The article said that you use spawn eggs on the surface of a block, however they can also be used on any of the other sides, including the bottom, spawning mobs successfully. This is at least true in PE, I don't know about PC version. JackAlpha26 (talk) 16:14, 17 February 2017 (UTC)

Well, the term "surface" already means any surface, not "the top" -- but if it's unclear, yeah, it could be changed – Sealbudsman talk/contr 16:37, 17 February 2017 (UTC)

Phantom and Turtle InvSprite unavailable[]

These two spawn eggs are using Grid_Spawn_Phantom.png and Grid_Spawn_Turtle.png. a20001017Talk 05:02, 25 March 2018 (UTC)

Yes it did change, see Cat again. --Giorgosarv18 (talk/contribs) 09:21, 26 October 2018 (UTC)

"The Mask" Spawn Egg?[]

The is a new spawn egg? 180.190.51.222 11:12, 4 December 2018 (UTC)

It’s from the bedrock beta, appearently. FVbico (talk) 11:25, 4 December 2018 (UTC)
How to get it? 180.190.51.222 13:36, 5 December 2018 (UTC)
From the creative inventory maybe? HaydenBobMutthew (talk, contribs) 13:38, 5 December 2018 (UTC)
I think is wrong....what effect? 180.190.51.222 13:41, 5 December 2018 (UTC)
mask spawn egg is from the game files and you cannot spawn mask egg Onute (talk) 16:06, 27 May 2019 (UTC)
Hi, I'm the dev who made and added that texture. The mask texture isn't for any one mob; it's for data-driven entities. In add-ons, you can specify custom spawn egg colors for entities, and the mask texture is used to apply those two colors. In the texture, the red channel is the base spawn egg texture, while the green channel is the spawn egg spots/overlay texture. In shaders, we apply the base egg color to the red channel, and the spots/overlay color to the green channel to give the correct appearance. If you see the mask texture at all in-game, then there's a bug somewhere that's not applying the two egg colors correctly. --Jocopa3 (talk) 21:39, 3 October 2019 (UTC)

secret spawn eggs[]

If you want to spawn eggs in MCBE, you need a Blocktopograph. Then change player's inventory id, change the spawn egg name is exist. Go back the game and spawn the egg, it should work. Onute (talk) 16:05, 27 May 2019 (UTC)

Alphabetical in Creative[]

In Bedrock, it doesn't actually seem that the eggs are sorted alphabetically. Now, for me, the Bug Tracker servers are down, so I can't check to see if it's been reported yet. The order as of 1.14.30 is: Chicken, Bee, Cow, Pig, Sheep, Wolf, Polar Bear, Ocelot, Cat, Mooshroom, Bat, Parrot, Rabbit, Llama, Horse, Donkey, Mule, Skeleton Horse, Zombie Horse, Tropical Fish, Cod, Pufferfish, Salmon, Dolphin, Turtle, Panda, Fox,Creeper, Enderman, Silverfish, Skeleton, Wither Skeleton, Stray, Slime, Spider, Zombie, Zombie Pigman, Husk, Drowned, Squid, Cave Spider, Witch, Guardian, Elder Guardian, Endermite, Magma Cube, Ghast, Blaze, Shulker, Vindicator, Evoker, Vex, Villager, Wandering Trader, Zombie Villager, Phantom, Pillager, Ravager. -FezEmerald (T|C) 15:16, 21 February 2020 (UTC)

-Alright, I'm reporting it now. -FezEmerald (T|C) 04:08, 25 February 2020 (UTC)

Files in History section[]

Unlike all pages, here, sprites are used in the History section. Can someone render these files? --dr03ramos Piston (talk) Admin wiki[pt] 10:30, 23 April 2020 (UTC)

Golden?[]

What is that question mark thing that says Iron golden spawn egg? 111.88.15.200 11:02, 11 June 2020 (UTC)

I removed it now. Don't know what the user was referring to, who added that. Maybe vandalism. ---- Elite hog (talk) 11:14, 11 June 2020 (UTC)

Warden Spawn Egg[]

The 1.17 update (Caves & Cliffs) will add the Warden. There is a spawn egg shown in a picture shown by @kingbdogz on Twitter, showing a spawn egg for the Warden. Should this be here? --Universespy (talk) 14:32, 13 October 2020 (UTC) Screenshot 2020-10-13 at 4.22.09 pm

  • Sorry for bad quality image*
Per MCW:FUTURE, no, not until it appeared in snapshots/betas. Dhranios (talk) 15:36, 13 October 2020 (UTC)
