I just hope this isn't food

This better be fertilizer or something, because if its food, that would be plain disgusting, and partially cannibalistic.

Maybe it's used as a poison? --Trollrilla 09:58, 28 August 2011 (UTC)
How about as like some sort of bait for mobs, passive or hostile?
DrKlozer 03:40, 29 August 2011 (UTC)
And the speculation begins -.- --HexZyle 07:37, 29 August 2011 (UTC)
I just assume that because blue spiders are able to poison, the player can do something like that too. But, as HexZyle said, it's just a speculation and we should only add what has been confirmed to the page. --Trollrilla 09:38, 29 August 2011 (UTC)
And I'd especially love to add there is absolutely no proof of blue spiders existing. TK | TheKax | Talk 14:20, 29 August 2011 (UTC)

You know how jeb said he liked the idea of being able to summon boss mobs like in terraria ? This MIGHT be used to create a lure for a boss ? possibly something like the giant ? Offcourse only speculation ;) [User:Henryuuki]

What it does according to a nonreliable source

The currently nonreliable source being debated about on Talk:Cave Spider provided a low definition screenshot of a green food bar and said that eating Rotten Flesh makes the food bar turn green and rapidly decrease as if the character is vomiting. Now, the source is not wiki-reliable yet, so don't add this to the page, but I would expect that feature in 1.8, considering the man was a part of the Mojang PAX booth, if the accounts by other people at PAX are true. Verhalthur (talk)(contribs) 14:42, 29 August 2011 (UTC)

So you are basically saying that eating rotten flesh will turn your hunger bar green and deplete it, which someone must have mistaken for being poisoned by a spider? (This does seem likely, but I'm also wondering if the reverse is true)--HexZyle 14:55, 29 August 2011 (UTC)
I don't think that was the image mistaken for a blue spider, but I'm not sure. Here is the image. Verhalthur (talk)(contribs) 15:00, 29 August 2011 (UTC)
Well then that proves it. Rotten flesh depletes your hunger bar, while poison claims to deplete your health. This disproves the fact that anyone saw someone being poisoned. I, personally, have now gone from unbiased, to against the blue spiders. --HexZyle 15:37, 29 August 2011 (UTC)

Wolves, what?

What does the last paragraph mean? It's poorly-written, so I can't understand what the person means about wasting food.

Poison + Rotten Flesh

I think that while i was poisoned [from eating rotten flesh] I just got 2x as much full from eating another piece of rotten flesh. I'm going to go test this again, but I wanting someone else to look into it too please. --DwarfWoot 17:16, 10 September 2011 (UTC)

Dropped by creepers?

This is the only place that says that creepers drop rotten flesh. It doesn't say anything about it on the creeper page and this is the first i've heard of it. I've gotten the chance to kill quite a few creepers so far in the 1.8 Pre-release, and none of them have dropped rotten flesh, just plenty of gun powder. I'd take this out, but it's cited so that makes me doubt myself. Can someone confirm this? --Deanm 15:56, 11 September 2011 (UTC)

Easy way to fix: 1) Check the references/citations. 2) Edit and fix yourself. btw someone already took it out. but if you just trust the citations and don't check them out yourself, then that's not efficient/proper editing, just saying - Asterick6 08:05, 23 September 2011 (UTC)

Poison?

At about the second sentence in the article, it suddenly begins to talk about poison without saying anything about what poison has to do with rotten flesh. It just jumps topics, like the person editing the page forgot that they were editing the rotten flesh page and began to explain the factor of poison in the game. Does eating rotten flesh cause poison or not? If so, then somebody forgot how to use transitions. Zorakirby 01:37, 15 September 2011 (UTC)

1.0 Update?

When it refers to the 'massive 1.0 update' I think it's meant to say 2.0 update as 1.0 came out a LONG time ago.

it was just someone speculating about the full Minecraft 1.0 release, which happens 11th November. However, the release is after a months worth of bug fixes and no adding of new content, so that fact date can't be true. Removed. --HexZyle 18:47, 14 October 2011 (UTC)

Illogical?

If you ate a zombies flesh considering they are a virus(all things considered)and the fact that feeding it to npcs infects them wouldn't eating it infect you letting the zombie win?Desacobose 13:44, 17 October 2011 (UTC)

We don't know for sure that these zombies are the result of a virus (they could be caused by any number of things), but the whole "infection/contagion" thing could be supported by the fact that eating the rotten flesh causes increased hunger, which could be considered a sort of zombie-transformation symptom. Then again, it's only temporary as long as you don't keep eating rotten flesh, and there's no "full transformation" of any sort, so this is doubtful. Also, only eating the flesh of a Zombie causes the hunger poisoning, and not being bitten, like other "contagious" zombies are known to spread by, so the poisoning could just be from eating dead germ-infested flesh, which isn't necessarily caused by said flesh having come from a Zombie. Rotten flesh kills?

Does anyone have any proof that "eating enough rotten flesh will kill you", or is that just someone's wishful thinking? 178.148.254.160 23:58, 15 December 2011 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure that's wishful thinking (though I haven't tested it myself), but you could in theory starve to death if you neglected to eat while under the effects of the poisoning.

...on difficulties that allow that to happen, anyway. Cobalt32 00:07, 26 January 2012 (UTC)

Rotten Flesh can have a use

Rotten flesh serves various purposes but maybe in a later update there will maybe be crafting, or adding to rotten flesh.

Diamondcraft 03:22, 1 February 2012 (UTC)

Really? Crafting for rotten flesh? What, do we put it in the furnace until it becomes a porkchop? It's only purpose is to feed dogs or n00bs with no food.
