Style guide issue in the TU32/CU20/PS 1.23 section

Hi Mrchill519, referring to these edits, could you describe what about it goes against the style guide? – Sealbudsman talk/contr 18:13, 9 February 2016 (UTC)

1.9.1

IT IS OUT. ROBINHOODN64 (talk) 14:39, 30 March 2016 (UTC)

1.10

This page references Pocket Edition, but not Computer Edition. However, the two editions use the same system (each version having its own page). Should we add the Computer Edition? The BlobsPaper 02:37, 9 June 2016 (UTC)

I'm sorry. Where are you getting this from, because there totally is a computer edition disambig at the top of that page. -BDJP (t|c) 03:34, 9 June 2016 (UTC)
Nope, got to agree with The Blobs. There isnt a computer edition. At least not for me. There always was one, but its gone. All i see is 1) Console, 2) Pocket, 3) References. :( --213.196.219.156 20:23, 9 June 2016 (UTC)
There is no upcoming update with enough sources to add to planned versions, 1.10 was just released and nothing has been announced since then. KnightMiner t/c 23:51, 9 June 2016 (UTC)
Wouldnt it be nice to write just that? I think leaving out the headline is confusing. Like something is wrong or missing. And not like "there is not information, therefore its left out". --195.14.222.222 13:42, 20 June 2016 (UTC)
If there was it would just be an empty section, so maybe I could instead tweak the header section to specifically state all versions are here. KnightMiner t/c 21:52, 20 June 2016 (UTC)

Solution for future versions

Maybe we should have something like "0.16.0 is an update released on September 21, 2016" until the update has been out for a week. If you have another idea, please state it. The BlobsPaper 14:51, 15 July 2016 (UTC)

Once an update is released it is no longer planned though. This page is solely to direct the users to the relevant update article.
Basically, users shouldn't be coming to this article for information on 0.16.0, they should come here to see if any updates are planned. They should already know the update number if they come here looking for the update, so it is not that hard for them to find the proper article (we even have a search bar if needed). PE 1.0

Why is this not it's own page? There is even a beta for it. -PancakeMan77 (talk) 03:04, 12 November 2016 (UTC)

Yeah, you guys should start a page at Pocket Edition 1.0, as well as a page at Pocket Edition 0.17.0.1 which is the current beta for 1.0. – Sealbudsman talk/contr 13:54, 12 November 2016 (UTC)

Pocket Edition 1.0

Shouldn't the version have its own page like the other versions? It seems like the version has enough information to start a page. We would start by just calling it Pocket Edition 1.0, since we don't know whether it's beta or something else. Any objections/concerns? The BlobsPaper 05:27, 12 November 2016 (UTC)

Version names

I notice that the version headers include the name. For example, the header for Pocket Edition 1.0 is "1.0 (Ender update)". Personally, I would like them to be removed, as the name of the version is already in the description. What do other users think? The BlobsPaper 04:03, 8 December 2016 (UTC)

Agree. It's much more concise to have just the version number. Also, links to specific articles, like {{main|Pocket Edition 1.0}}, are usually directly underneath the heading with their respective name(s), e.g. The Holiday Update for Console Edition. Maethoredhel (tc) 05:09, 8 December 2016 (UTC)

Console edition formatting

The additions and changes are combined, unlike in the PC and Pocket editions. We should separate them. The BlobsPaper 19:13, 16 December 2016 (UTC)

PE 1.1: What counts as Confirmation?

SamGamgee55, I noticed you reverted MCPE 1.1 as being an unconfirmed update, but in @jeb_'s tweet, he mentions a new block coming in both MCPC 1.12 and MCPE 1.1; does that not count as confirmation? It may not be an explicit confirmation, but it's still a notable mention that an update is coming. Jocopa3 (talk) 18:18, 27 January 2017 (UTC)

The source says that it is a work in progress for Pocket Edition 1.1, which means that they are working on the update. However, HelenAngel may know more. The BlobsPaper 20:04, 27 January 2017 (UTC)

I reverted the edit because speculation would then flood the page.--SamGamgee55 (talk) 00:46, 28 January 2017 (UTC)SamGamgee55

We don't really get that much speculation, do we? No more than one or two edits here and there? Even though it's been pretty common in the past for us to take only a single mention as sufficient to put a version on this page.. – Sealbudsman talk/contr 01:44, 28 January 2017 (UTC)
Speculation is usually posted by anonymous users. Since this page is semi protected, it is much less likely to receive speculation. The BlobsPaper 01:48, 28 January 2017 (UTC)

Didn't know that this page was semi-protected so thank you for notifying me. Speaking of protected pages, why isn't the 1.12 page protected? There is literally at least one speculation edit per day on that page.--SamGamgee55 (talk) 06:56, 28 January 2017 (UTC)

Looking at the page history, speculation seems to be decreasing. It might be more common when there is less real information and people are posting what they want to have in the version. The BlobsPaper 15:27, 28 January 2017 (UTC)

True... Thanks for pointing that out, I guess we can close this discussion.--SamGamgee55 (talk) 18:19, 28 January 2017 (UTC)SamGamgee55

I can confirm that there will be a 1.1 update like Jens said. However, what will be IN that update is all up in the air right now because we're still trying to get 1.0.3 out the door & then 1.0.4 - both will be really focused on bug fixes but of course we'll toss in a feature if we can get it to work properly. That's the key there- if we can get it to work. :) I wouldn't put too much stock yet in what may or may not be in that update simply because anything could break that could push a feature out (stained glass is a great example of this). --HelenAngel (talk) 21:13, 2 February 2017 (UTC)

Confused about bugs

Blobs2 said that they should be written verbatim from the bug tracker, but majr and itplantseed said otherwise. Who is right? Childerboyz (talk) 20:41, 19 February 2017 (UTC) Childerboyz (talk) 20:41, 19 February 2017 (UTC)

In this section of the style guide it says "The titles from the bug tracker issues may be freely edited to comply with the style guide" along with some other things. That would include fixing grammar, capitalization, spelling, accuracy, formatting and so on. – Sealbudsman talk/contr 23:19, 19 February 2017 (UTC)

Console Edition Mess

Gosh, that section is a mess. Why don't we just take out the subtitle saying TU X/CU X/PS4 X/PS3 X/Wii U X/NS X and just leave that blank or Next Update. That will fix us constantly changing the title, and make it less confusing. – NixinovaGrid Book and Quill Grid Diamond Pickaxe Grid Map • 19:51, 2 June 2017 (UTC)

Computer java edition name

There's been 2 edits lately regarding the "official" name of the computer java edition. A source was asked for calling it "Java Edition", which is https://minecraft.net/nl-nl/article/world-color-released. I'm not advocating for any name, just providing a source. --Pepijn (talk) 23:15, 11 June 2017 (UTC)

While the computer edition is sometimes called the Java edition, readers will generally think about the platform rather than the programming method. The BlobsPaper 03:31, 12 June 2017 (UTC)

Better Together Update

I have a couple questions about the Better Together Update... Will this be released as a separate update from 1.13 and PE 1.2? And will pocket edition and console edition get all the features they don't have so that cross-platform play can work? –Preceding unsigned comment was added by 75.60.247.50 (talk) at 10:42, 12 June 2017 (UTC). PE will be ported to Xbox one and the Nintendo switch, just like it's been ported to Windows 10 and gear vr and other things in the past. 4j studios won't be developing Minecraft on those consoles. The other console editions aren't part of this update, nor is the Java edition. I'm not 100% sure but I'm assuming when they say Update, they're referring to 1.2. – Sealbudsman talk/contr 13:10, 12 June 2017 (UTC)

I've also heard a lot more than is mentioned in the little section for it on the page, like that it's to be released in August... should this be changed? - 75.60.247.50 02:41, 13 June 2017 (UTC)

4K Update

What is the 4K Update? Is it the computer version of Better Together? - 75.60.247.50 02:30, 14 June 2017 (UTC)

It is an update for Bedrock that will add new graphics options. – Nixinova Grid Book and Quill Grid Diamond Pickaxe Grid Map 04:37, 5 August 2017 (UTC)

TU54/CU44/PS 1.52/Wii U Patch 24/NS Patch 4

Shouldn't TU54/CU44/PS 1.52/Wii U Patch 24/NS Patch 4 get an official page? Because the list of features is getting kinda big, and the page is kind of cluttered. Could someone fix that? –Preceding unsigned comment was added by 75.60.247.50 (talk) at 3:26, 16 June 2017 (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

Per the notability guidelines, version articles do not get an article until they have a significant source to their existence, it is my understanding that most of the information there is just planned for the "next update" and not those specific versions. In addition, the list is still pretty small in my opinion, and console edition versions do not get their own articles due to the awkwardness of each update having 5 names. KnightMiner t/c 03:59, 16 June 2017 (UTC)

Oh, I see! I forgot that Console edition doesn't generally get a page, and I see what you mean about it not being very big... thanks! - 75.60.247.50 22:30, 16 June 2017 (UTC)

1.14

@Beans1512: How can one obscure piece of information mean that 1.14 should be in here? It doesn't have major sources for development and was only mentioned once as an afterthought by Dinnerbone. – Nixinova Grid Book and Quill Grid Diamond Pickaxe Grid Map 04:30, 5 August 2017 (UTC)

I removed the mention because the reference only says that it might be 1.14. The BlobsPaper 15:20, 10 August 2017 (UTC)
