Blast Resistance

Can someone recheck the blast resistance post 1.0? I'm seeing small holes appearing in the wake of ghast blasts on an SMP server. Maloncanth 03:24, 29 November 2011 (UTC)

Wait, what?

Um... Where exactly are we seeing "Netherrack Bricks" in this image? Can someone post a pic?

  • I've asked myself same question, thought i was blind and others can see there that block.
    • Its right in the middle, to the right of the lava flow and above the swatch of fire.Eligitine 21:13, 16 September 2011 (UTC)
      • I don't see it... Perhaps post a zoomed-in picture? ~~prisma90
      • The picture is centered on it. Click the full-sized image. There's a tower-like object made out of bricks.

There is only one new block in this image

Then differences in color between the brick blocks are caused by Minecraft's new colored lighting, which can look strange when an image is brightened. They are not separate blocks. Verhalthur (talk)(contribs) 15:28, 17 September 2011 (UTC)

Are you blind? Look at the textures on the tower! That is NOT normal Netherrack. --Technoman7 16:23, 17 September 2011 (UTC)
Not Netherrack, but the change between Netherrack Bricks and the so called Soulsand Bricks. --31.151.146.87 16:28, 17 September 2011 (UTC)
Note the section title: "There is only one new block in the image. There is no Soul Sand brick. The differences in color on the tower stem from the colored lighting, not variation in block type. Verhalthur (talk)(contribs) 19:58, 17 September 2011 (UTC)
Oh. I see what you mean now. Sorry about that. --Technoman7 17:27, 19 September 2011 (UTC)

New netherrack textures?

Doesn't it look like, if you look closely on the picture, that the (original) netherrack changes colour throughout the picture (like that grass changes according to biome)? FracqGrenade | talk contribs 23:13, 17 September 2011 (UTC)

That's the lighting from the lava hitting the Netherrack, not a biome change.--CDi-Fails 02:30, 18 September 2011 (UTC)

Aquaducks?

The "tower" looks more like a Roman style aquaduck. user:tygor97

What exactly is an "Aquaduck"? I think you made a typo. SpaghettiGuy3 22:02, 18 September 2011 (UTC)

I believe the structure is a ruined bridge, not an aqueduct. Or an underwater pond bird... Verhalthur (talk)(contribs) 22:07, 18 September 2011 (UTC)
Aqueducts" use water. The nether has no water, so that thought is very doubtful. They're just walkways.

Citation May Be Needed

I don't think it's a known fact yet that the Netherrack Brick is set to be in 1.9. I certainly believe it, but sadly, I fear it is speculation. I think a citation is needed. SpaghettiGuy3 22:27, 18 September 2011 (UTC)

You are quite right. Also, the fact that the nether wasn't mentioned at all was criminal! Anyway, fixed both of those problems. Verhalthur (talk)(contribs) 22:29, 18 September 2011 (UTC)
Much better. SpaghettiGuy3 23:24, 18 September 2011 (UTC)
If 1.9 is in development now, then why wouldn't the Nether Update be included in it? If I like mustard on hot dogs, and I'm making a hot dog, you bet your ass I'll put mustard on it.--CDi-Fails 11:45, 19 September 2011 (UTC)
It may seem like a connection that pretty much everyone can easily make but if there is any chance that Jeb is making the features for another update, we can't officially say it will be included in 1.9 until he says it will. Verhalthur (talk)(contribs) 13:57, 19 September 2011 (UTC)

Name Change needed

The 1.9 prerelease confirms that this block is "Nether Brick" not "Netherrack Brick". Can someone make the appropriate change? I'm unsure how to. Jivjov 15:13, 22 September 2011 (UTC)

The move page option is buried in the dropdown to the left of the search box. —KPReid 11:36, 23 September 2011 (UTC)

Tool to harvest this block

Hey people, I believe that nether brick can only be harvested by using pickaxes. It takes about the same amount of time to mine stone bricks as it doe with nether bricks with a pickaxe. MrLeonov 07:43, 28 September 2011 (UTC)

Can't craft/smelt

Hey, shouldn't we add that you cannot obtain this block in any way besides inventory editing and actually mining it up? Because I think a bunch of people will come here, read the article, and then try to craft it out of netherrack, or smelt it to get these bricks. We should add it in trivia or something. Hlast 12:45, 10 October 2011 (UTC)

Done. --HexZyle 14:14, 10 October 2011 (UTC)

Can harvest block?

I am able to harvest Nether Bricks by using a regular iron pick, without any mods. Using 1.9 pre 4. I assume this is a new feature since pre4; It's my first time in a nether fortress. 62.212.129.56 14:38, 15 October 2011 (UTC)

Nether fortressess were added in Pre-release 1 and Nether Bricks can be harvested with a stone pick (or maybe wood but i havent tried yet --HexZyle 18:41, 15 October 2011 (UTC)

Mods in Trivia

I noticed that the trivia section says something about using single player commands and fly mod to see a glitch. However, this doesn't feel like the place to discuss glitches that occur because of mods. Should it be removed? EDIT: Hehe, forgot to sign my post. TheBloking 23:08, 28 March 2012 (UTC)

i can't find a fortress!!!???

can somebody tell me how to find a fortress?

They only apear after beta 1.9 prerealease 1. Go to newer chunks. 74.73.15.166 21:27, 7 December 2012 (UTC)

Crafting Suggestion

I have a suggestion on how to craft nether bricks: With an obsidian furnace. You place 8 blocks of obsidian in a square on the crafting table, which allows you to create an obsidian furnace. Obsidian furnaces can burn regular fuel. However, if a blaze rod is used as the fuel the furnace can melt down netherrack into nether bricks for use! 216.168.120.155 01:21, 20 August 2012 (UTC)

New crafting and it's possible origin.

Well, some time ago Jeb tweeted about how to craft netherbricks, and this guy gave him a suggestion that is EXACTLY the same way that Jeb has implemented in the new snapshot. Here's the answer and Jeb's tweet: https://twitter.com/FerreVI/status/273811911504691201 Don't worry about the privacy stuff, I've talked to the guy and he gave me his permission to share this, (and he feels kind of proud). Should we mention it in this page (and Nether Brick page)? --83.45.243.147 20:40, 3 January 2013 (UTC)

Not without a comment from Jeb (or dinnerbone or another Mojangsta) that says that's what they used for the ultimate mechanic; otherwise it's just speculation. ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 22:47, 3 January 2013 (UTC)
