the bug list

@‎BDJP007301: good afternoon.

The reason we have those sections is so that people can tell how old bugs are. I don't think the current order clearly communicates that.

Some of the bugs are confusingly filed, too. Most bugs listed under 'From released versions before 1.8.1' together with all those in 'From the 1.8 development versions' are bugs that (for a person not playing snapshots) would have appeared first in release 1.8. That's why I created the category 'From release 1.8'.

The remaining bugs were the 'older' bugs, which players would remember from 1.7.10 and older. That's why I named it 'From released versions before 1.8'.

What the names are I don't care so much. And I recognize that we haven't had an established order of sections within release-version pages, so I understand this kind of departs from what we usually do in the snapshot pages. But, I don't think the current arrangement clearly communicates the age of the bugs.

I agree that it makes sense to sort out bugs a bit as to around major versions. Such as versions 1.7.7-1.7.10 were mostly to fix bugs from 1.7.6, and know whether the bug was a major problem from the 1.7 updates or it was a long time favorite fixed would be helpful.
As for an official standard, would it make sense to add a version page style guide, possible as a subpage of the main style guide? It would be a better place to discuss official format, plus have it stated somewhere.
