ummm... i went to the exact coordinates and dug down to bedrock, nothing there... what? 66.27.208.236 00:50, 15 June 2019 (UTC)

The chest is sometimes off a bit. Try digging around the place and it should be there under the sand. – Nixinova Nixinova sig1 Nixinova sig2 01:35, 15 June 2019 (UTC)
Three treasure maps in a row now, dug out 6 blocks in every direction, and on the first two dug all the way down to bedrock. Nothing :( --Realweregamer (talk) 03:41, 20 November 2020 (UTC)
@Realweregamer: I suggest you switch to creative mode and use the "/locate buried treasure" command to check the coordinates. I don't know of you're playing Java or Bedrock, but in Bedrock /locate has always been spot-on for buried treasure (it seems to have problems with other things like ruined portals). If you see a discrepancy between the map and what /locate says, report it on the bug tracker. Amatulic (talk) 11:35, 20 November 2020 (UTC)

(water logged buried treasure)[]

just dug up one underwater, F3 says is not waterlogged.

4 stacks of diamonds[]

I get 4 stacks of diamonds in a buried treasure (4 single diamonds), when in the table is a maximum of 3 stacks of diamonds to get.
Seed in what I get 4 stacks of diamonds: 3895961843548414060 (generated in 1.16.3).

@Ksawi999: Thanks for that picture. I changed the table heading to 1-4. It took me a while to figure out that I had to edit the page Module:LootChest to fix that number. Amatulic (talk) 02:13, 21 November 2020 (UTC)

Buried treasure not at 9x9 co-ordinates[]

I tried going to X and Z coordinates 9,9 and there is no treasure there. I verified this using chunkbase(seed): -1915135521890135152 Legolas Elf (talk) 13:52, 5 June 2021 (UTC)

It's at coordinate 9,9 on that chunk, not world coordinates. I verified that with your seed.
For example, with your seed there's buried treasure at coordinate 105,953. To get the x,y coordinate on the chunk, divide each number by 16 and get the remainder. 105/16 = 6 with remainder 9. And 953/16 = 59 with remainder 9. Therefore the treasure is at coordinate 9,9 on that chunk.
For negative numbers coordinates, you need to subtract the remainder from 16 to get the chunk coordinate. So for the buried treasure at -1287,-247, you get a remainder of -7 for both coordinates, and 16-7=9, so the chunk coordinates are still 9,9 on that chunk.
Therefore, if you know the chunk boundaries for a buried treasure, the treasure is always 9 east and 9 south from the northwest corner of the chunk. Amatulic (talk) 14:14, 5 June 2021 (UTC)
I also verified that this is Java Edition only. In Bedrock Edition, the chunk coordinates for buried treasure are always 8,8. Amatulic (talk) 14:20, 5 June 2021 (UTC)
Ah thanks for the clarification! I have edited the main page to bold "chunk". Hope that's fine.Legolas Elf (talk) 17:57, 5 June 2021 (UTC)
You're welcome, and I apologize for my accidental revert just now. I tried to click "thank" on the diff of your edit to thank you, and my aim missed and my finger clicked on "rollback" instead, which reverted you. I just reverted myself. Amatulic (talk) 18:06, 5 June 2021 (UTC)

More than one treasure per save?[]

On the Xbox 360, every single buried treasure map I find is 4 or 5 and they turn into treasure map 5 the moment they enter my inventory. Is it not possible to find more than one treasure in a 360 save? Korra II Royal (talk) 22:55, 9 May 2022 (UTC)

I have no idea what you mean by "4 or 5" - that doesn't correspond to any information in this article, as far as I can tell. If there is information missing from this article, please suggest how to include it.
Buried treasure exists all over the place. You can verify this by entering your seed into chunkbase and viewing the map. Amatulic (talk) 00:42, 10 May 2022 (UTC)
