About

Minecraft Pocket and Console Editions are being joined in a cross platform "Minecraft". The entire wiki needs to be changed, to make way for the new names. The Minecraft editions will be:

Minecraft Java edition for the computer
Minecraft Console edition for Xbox 360, PlayStation, and Wii U
- Bear in mind that, according to SuperGeniusZeb, the original Xbox One and Nintendo Switch editions will still be updated by 4J Studios, so keep that in mind when updating the pages.
Minecraft Bedrock(?) edition for Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Windows 10, mobile, VR, Apple TV. Although not explicitly stated it is assumed Fire OS and Fire TV will also receive cross play.

The current consensus is to reformat basically the entire wiki to properly state which information belongs to which edition, without prioritizing any edition (up until now the Java edition was considered the main edition and any other editions have been treated as exceptions).

Let's lay out the scope of work, and put a good amount of thought into it, before starting.

What version articles to rename

Identify what templates need to be reconfigured (such as {{version link}}), so links don't break

What articles need a major reorientation

Make a single top-of-page template that identifies editions

In the way that {{desktop}}, {{pocket}}, {{education}} and {{console}} have been doing

Template:Exclusive
- Change pages in categories Category:Computer Edition only, Category:Console Edition only & Category:Education Edition only from {{desktop}} etc to {{exclusive}}

Establish a standard order of editions

This affects pages as well as templates like {{history}} (see Template talk:History#Minecraft mess)

Create a sub-project system

So all pages are worked on, seen and marked complete (like how they did it on on the Rewrite for Styleproject)

Verifying edition-specific features

Might want a separate sub-project system for managing this (like how they did it on on the Rewrite for Style project)
- Think about how best to organize the work
- Perhaps categories like Category:Correct in Java Edition, Category:Correct in Bedrock Editions, Category:Correct in Console Edition?
There are some categories show use of the {{only}} tag, which would highlight some things to look at, but it would be best to be comprehensive about it, hitting all pages and testing lots of things.
