This page is intended to list tasks that are requested to be done on this wiki, and eventually have a good overview of things that still need to be done. You can create a new task by using the /task template.

You may assign yourself to tasks at any time; only assign others if you see them actively working on them.

For these tasks a lot of pages need to be edited in a repetitive manner. Where needed, use MCW:Quick reference page as a page guide.

I'm not experienced in using the "insource" search method. In those cases where it's not feasible to use it, this kind of tasks might need all pages to manually be checked in a predetermined order (for at least some managability). But in this case you might be able to decrease to total count down to just those that are using any of the mentioned templates (use whatlinkshere), if you can't search for related pages. – Jack McKalling [ Grid Book and Quill Grid Diamond Pickaxe ] 13:43, 20 May 2019 (UTC)

Maybe a bot could aggregate all interwiki links from our mainspace, dump them on a test page on the actual interwiki they point to, and convert them into actual local links. Then you can easily see if they become red. But that's only part of the problem, they also could be checked for relevance (like do they still link to the correct page). I don't know how to do this or if it's possible. This task has become part of a new project: MCW:VC, which is about cleaning up version articles. The instructions of the project regarding this task has assumed consensus from the discussion, so no need to wait anymore. I updated the task description appropriately. Some progress has already been tracked, but there is a huge amount of pages that still need to be processed and tracked. For the 300px sprites, download blender, download the file on the mcw:renders page, select the block side texture from under image→source, click render→image, then image→save as image. – Nixinova Nixinova sig image 1 Nixinova sig image 2 02:10, 21 January 2019 (UTC)

Templates

I'm not sure if I agree with this task; on some templates like Template:Mojangsta notice it would be useful to display the template so users can see what it looks like before using it. Though if we consistently showed the template output in the documentation, it might be fine. –Sonicwave talk 02:26, 23 April 2020 (UTC)

Could you or someone also please add documentation for it? I'd like the doc to specify that only releases may be added to the nav box that have been processed into the guide. This makes those links also double for "what version was this last updated for". All done. See #wiki of the Minecraft Wiki and this GitHub repository for the code that it uses. On the topic of implementation - the module indeed passes JSON to the JS upon receiving an API call with a function specifically made for the job. Instead of putting the data on the page itself, it is stored inside the script itself, whereafter the script generates the documentation out of it. Classes, headings and the like behave like usual, it's just the back-end which is different. A compromise I did have to make, however, is that it is now no longer possible to disable the sprite editor without disabling the script which creates the documentation as well. The rationale I used for that is that you don't have to use it even if it's loaded. —DarkShadowTNT (t ♦ c) 02:34, 21 January 2020 (UTC)

"Add universal categorization for tasks (in the form of headings) that would help find tasks by type or some other criteria" Isn't the current way this page is divided into headings fine already?
"Eventually move this page, when its purpose gets wiki-wide and this page is more properly formatted, to mcw:Pending tasks" suggested on the talk page now.
"Improve the heading text... a lot, it really needs to be extended, and more professional" This may actually happen once the page is moved, I'm not good at this. FVbico (talk) 07:47, 20 May 2019 (UTC)
