This page is for collaboratively verifying changes that others have made on the wiki. Both admins and patrollers have the ability to mark pages and edits as patrolled as a way of verifying an edit. By extension, they can also mark edits to confirm the validness of the information added by them, but sometimes they cannot themselves. Using this page one can request help with patrolling an edit for a specified reason, so others can take over and/or help.
By sharing unpatrolled edits on this page, and helping each other communicate back what you know and find, it is easier to spot and deal with false information, misinformation and sneaky vandalism. This also helps to share verified information as a backlog of facts.
How does this work
- A patroller or administrator posts a
{{/request|?|Question?|diffs=123456}}
(click link for documentation) on this page, asking for the verification of a single piece of factual information with a link to each related unpatrollable edit. These requests are sorted by the page the edits relate to, under a linked header. - Another trusted editor (might be a patroller or a non-patroller) answers the request by providing sourced information to contribute to verifying the unpatrollable edits. This may require play-testing or fact-checking, just recalling from memory is not useful.
- If full verification requires additional work/replies, the request is marked as "wip" for the progress icon, to show it isn't finished yet. Repeat point 2
- When enough information is gathered to fully verify the edits of the request, a patrolling user may mark the related edits as patrolled and then mark the request as "done" for the checkmark icon. This may be the user who originally posted the request, or another patrolling user.
Confirming/patrolling edits
In this section, all (questionable) edits are listed that cannot be patrolled yet until someone can confirm their correctness. Please reply to each individual list item as if it were a talk page, to explain/confirm/debunk whether the related edit(s) is/are correct or not. This may require play-testing, research or some other reliable source.

Chicken
Can chickens spawn in the Nether? References MCBug:41929 but Mojira is not loading. Diffs: 1314531
- Mojira is loading for me. The bug is closed by Nathan Adams as Works as Intended. He states chickens in the Nether are the result of chicken jockeys losing their rider (the previous conversation seems to imply the rider and the mount have separate and different despawning conditions). --AttemptToCallNil (report bug, view backtrace) 09:23, 1 February 2019 (UTC)

Coral
Does coral now drop itself only with the Silk Touch enchantent in Bedrock, like also in Java Edition? Diffs: 1250410 • 1250411
- Doesn't seem to drop at all, whatever you try. -Pepijn (talk) 09:58, 5 September 2018 (UTC)
- So how do you suggest to fix these edits? I'm really confused. It appears they're sying that it does drop, but requires Silk Touch, just like how it works in Java. So you're sure that is false for corals in Bedrock Edition, in that it drops nothing even with the enchantment? – Jack McKalling [ ] 08:27, 15 October 2018 (UTC)
Dolphin
Can dolphins (still) ride in boats in Java as well as Bedrock edition? Diffs: 1218233 • 1219710
- I tested in 1.13 and it doesn't look like they can. Might need some more thorough testing, though.-- Madminecrafter12Talk to me 14:04, 10 August 2018 (UTC)
- It was a bug in Java Edition, has been fixed. -Pepijn (talk) 09:54, 5 September 2018 (UTC)
- So I understand they indeed cannot ride boats in Bedrock edition, because it wasn't intended behaviour in the first place. All right, then the edits are partially correct, and the incorrect part of this has already been fixed. I can mark this request as done. – Jack McKalling [ ] 08:34, 15 October 2018 (UTC)

- Fully checked: Naturally spawning drowned in rivers can spawn at any height level, in oceans can only spawn at least 6 blocks below the ocean level. Lê Duy Quang (Make some words | Contributions) at 10h15:08 | 26/9/2019 (UTC)

Emerald Ore
Does emerald ore continue to stay generated in mountains, even if the world is customized? Diffs: 1239275
- Yes, the generation of emerald ore is based on the biome, with customized, mountains still generate emerald ore; however, that line makes it sound like “there’ll always be more emerald ore than dismond ore in mountains”, which won’t be true when diamond ore chances are incremented.

End Portal Frame
Do end portal frame blocks transmit redstone power, or can a comparator only produce a signal from the block due to the filled-state of the portal frame? Diffs: 1255028
- I tested this myself already, and at least in JE 1.12.2 comparators are only able to pick up the filled-state of the block, not a redstone signal that runs into the block. Neither weak nor strongly powering the portal frame outputs any signal. There is still the possibility that some other edition does allow redstone powering the portal frame however, this needs to be tested. – Jack McKalling [ ] 21:34, 16 October 2018 (UTC)

Java Edition 1.13
Can players jump across a gap of 6 blocks when sprinting under the Slow Falling status effect? Diffs: 1246675
- Looks like Pokechu22 already patrolled the edit without reverting. - Unable to reproduce (around 30 times). Reverting edit, and going to clarify that 6 block gap is only possible when starting point is 1 block higher, as this is the only way I could get it to work. Even if an extreme pixel-perfect performance would result in a 6-block gap in a flat scenario, this will not be useful to anyone. – Jack McKalling [ ] 20:46, 5 November 2018 (UTC)

Are these new GUI resolution values accurate? Diffs: 1249355 • 1249368
- The first three are indeed called 1, 2 and 3 now, but I don't have a big enough monitor to test the bigger values right now. – Jack McKalling [ ] 22:44, 17 December 2018 (UTC)
- For me it allows a gui scale of 4 when I have a maximized window, if it's the normal startup size for me, it goes up to 2, so it seems accurate. FVbico (talk) 11:45, 17 January 2019 (UTC)

Java Edition 1.14
Are there going to be 9 or 10 new cat skins for Java Edition 1.14, seeing there might be 10 already in Bedrock edition? Diffs: 1265906 • 1265927 • 1265933
- 8, as there's 13 files now, one is the ocelot, and red, black (tuxedo) and siamese already existed before, and then there's the new collar texture. So both were wrong, and it seems it's already corrected and patrolled. FVbico (talk) 11:50, 17 January 2019 (UTC)
Kelp
If a kelp stalk part is broken, does it break only all parts above it? And secondly, does it have a growth height limit of 24 blocks? Diffs: 1246816
- 1. Only blocks above break, the one below the hit one will turn to
kelp
instead ofkelp_plant
. FVbico 20:22, 30 July 2018 (UTC)- I can confirm that. It also seems the 24 value is accurate, but not in the context of the edit. The current mechanic on the page is correct however, so no change is needed. Kelp can naturally only grow an age of 0–24 in the talk, with the top +1, which is 26 blocks total. – Jack McKalling [ ] 01:05, 18 December 2018 (UTC)
Does placing kelp in downward flowing water turn it into a source block? Diffs: 1247127
- Can only be placed in source blocks last time I checked. FVbico 20:22, 30 July 2018 (UTC)
- FVbico is correct for JE, based on my checking, so I've updated the article accordingly. However, it will need to be tested in BE before the edit can be patrolled.-- Madminecrafter12Talk to me 23:41, 30 July 2018 (UTC)
- Actually, the edit was correct. Or at least by now in 18w50a. You can't place kelp in flowing water. But you can place kelp in a downward flowing non-source water column and it will turn its block space into a water source. So I'm going to modify it to make this clearer. Going to finish this request now that it wasn't actually incorrect to begin with - just misinterpreted. – Jack McKalling [ ] 23:42, 17 December 2018 (UTC)

Leaves
Can leaves really make observers pulse? Diffs: 1245136
- The wording is VERY arbitrary. They can make observers pulse, but only if the distance block state changes (the nearest log/wood is (re)moved), so I'm removing this line, as it's still a block state change, and not actually random pulsing. FVbico (talk) 20:54, 6 November 2018 (UTC)
Panda
Do playful baby pandas have different movement logic than others, such as falling off cliffs and wandering into water? Diffs: 1303934
- Nope, wrong. Although baby pandas temporarily "loose" movement logic as they roll over, such as rolling off a cliff, they don't deliberately walk off of it, even if they follow your bamboo. This is very likely intended, the same thing also applies to hopping bunnies. Wandering into water works exactly the same, if they roll they can (unintentionally) fall into it, but never intentionally move into it. Making them follow you with bamboo will not prevent them walking into water however, it's not like they can't swim. So baby pandas behave exactly the same as any other from these findings. Reverting. – Jack McKalling [ ] 09:47, 22 January 2019 (UTC)
Do lazy pandas ignore all entities and players? Diffs: 1304542
- No, again this is false information. Lazy pandas lying on their back will not follow you if you hold bamboo. They will follow you if they're walking, and even when they're not, they're still looking at you as you move, so "ignoring" is just misleading. Tested in 19w03c, reverting. – Jack McKalling [ ] 10:09, 22 January 2019 (UTC)

Turtle

- They are **not** called sea turtle in bedrock, you can check this with the say command. (Just for those thinking that was wrong to begin with) FVbico (talk) 21:22, 11 September 2018 (UTC)
- Okay, closing this topic now. The editor claimed the mob ID in LCE was "turtle" anyway, so they're just "turtles" in all editions. Any other item or block in game referencing "sea turtle" is just using a different name than the actual mob itself, eventhough the mob technically is indeed a "sea" turtle. Marking edit as patrolled and request as done. For future reference, best solution would be if turtles were renamed as sea turtles in the game, but that's up to Mojang. – Jack McKalling [ ] 18:38, 15 October 2018 (UTC)

- The smooth transition was added in 18w07a as I tested. - Magiczocker (talk) 20:06, 6 August 2019 (UTC)
Village
Were zombie villages actually removed at some point in Java Edition, due to there not being any structure files for them? Diffs: 1306962
- Have been re-added in 19w0?a. – Nixinova 06:09, 1 February 2019 (UTC)
- The zombie village structures desert and taiga were added in 19w04a and plains, savanna and snowy were added in 19w07a. The structures are located at

Villager
Is the green robed nitwit villager really Java edition only, and does not appear in Bedrock? Diffs: 1250680
- If it really is, this statement should also be moved out of trivia, and marked as
{{only|JE}}
or similar, in the content. – Jack McKalling [ ] 09:55, 9 August 2018 (UTC)- Apparently they were added in Bedrock Edition beta 1.10.0.3. – Nixinova 06:08, 1 February 2019 (UTC)
What do the last 2 edits to the page even mean and are they accurate? Diffs: 1291364 • 1291365
- I can't figure out what is meant. You could remove both for illegible reasons. – Jack McKalling [ ] 15:31, 5 December 2018 (UTC)
- Done; I've just reverted it. It's worth noting that the user (IP) has made a number of other edits to pages that are blatant or subtle vandalism and I'm about ready to block them if they continue vandalizing after the warning I gave them. I think they're the same subtle disruptive editor that we had many times before.-- Madminecrafter12Talk to me 15:35, 5 December 2018 (UTC)
Vines
Can an axe collect vines when it has the Silk Touch enchantment? Diffs: 1261368
- Not in JE. Will have to have someone else test BE.-- Madminecrafter12Talk to me 18:51, 14 December 2018 (UTC)
Wandering trader
Spawn rates of the wandering trader. According to AntVenom this information is somehow wrong. Diffs: 1313560
- Regarding what this previously said ("urgent" and "and he’s dissing us for it"), we shouldn’t care about that, the wiki is full of mis-information, just look at this whole page. If he’s attacking the wiki because it’s wrong, block it out by saying he should then correct it rather than badmouth us.
- We can’t have everything right, especially for new content, it’s only been out for less than 2 days, and we’re not the developers. FVbico (talk) 08:33, 1 February 2019 (UTC)
Water
Is water now -1
transparent to light? Diffs: 1246615
- I'm certain water was indeed changed in respect to light in 1.13, and I remember the value "2", but I'm just not certain of the exact value used in this edit. – Jack McKalling [ ] 23:36, 11 October 2018 (UTC)
- It's indeed -1 now, and the edit seems to be patrolled already. FVbico (talk) 20:49, 5 November 2018 (UTC)
Does water in Mushroom Islands/Fields biomes in LCE (how are they called in LCE?) have a purple colour, different from JE/BE? Diffs: 1266442
- No, it's dark grey(ish). --Giorgosarv18 (talk/contribs) 13:16, 13 October 2018 (UTC)
- Could you provide a source about that information? This page requires trusted sources, and you're not in the (auto)patroller usergroup yet. An image would be helpful. – Jack McKalling [ ] 18:52, 15 October 2018 (UTC)
- I'm not saying you need to be a patroller to be able to contribute, that'd be a misinterpretation of the edit warning at the top. I mean, this page needs proof for all statements for it to be effective, as we're already trying to verify information with this page. And if no sources are provided, any posted message here would need additional verification (which is overhead work). People in the (auto)patroller usergroup are already trusted by management and that changes things only slightly for them. – Jack McKalling [ ] 13:41, 7 November 2018 (UTC)
- Water in mushroom biomes is greyish purple. – Nixinova 21:16, 23 May 2019 (UTC)
Wheat Seeds
What is the name of this item in Legacy Console editions, wheat seeds or just seeds? Diffs: 1257557
- "Seeds". – Nixinova 06:20, 1 February 2019 (UTC)
Wood
Was it Pocket Edition 1.0 build 1, now Pocket Edition alpha 0.17.0.1, where bark was added to BE placeable via setblock command? Diffs: 1245267
Woodland mansion
Do pillagers and illager beasts spawn in woodland mansions? Diffs: 1292534
- Comment The Pillager and Illager Beast pages were also changed to state that they spawn in mansions (Special:Diff/1292539 and Special:Diff/1292545), but these edits were marked as patrolled. I reversed this change on the Woodland mansion page since I haven't been able to find any pillagers or illager beasts in 5 different mansions (in different worlds), and this change wasn't listed in the minecraft.net article or reported on the bug tracker; but I wanted to make sure in case I'm just getting unlucky. –Sonicwave talk 08:21, 18 December 2018 (UTC)
- Just to clarify there, Dinoguy1000 patrolled that first edit, but he did not verify the information. I've discussed this with him on discord, and he is willing to adjust his patrolling in case we get consensus on how we should use the feature. – Jack McKalling [ ] 09:03, 1 February 2019 (UTC)
- Someone seems to have removed it with the statement "false information", I’m not sure if this should be kept open then, but... FVbico (talk) 08:52, 1 February 2019 (UTC)
