Mob yo-yo[]

On the mechanisms tutorial, there's a section called "mob yo-yo" that doesn't have anything to do with redstone. The section is:
"

This works with any mob that you can place a lead on.

Simply place a lead on a mob and attach it to a High-up Fence post, the mob will dangle and bounce on the lead. If you place the fence post too close to the ground the mob will die from fall damage. Even if you don't, if the mob bounces, it will die when it touches a solid block unless it lands in water.

I think it should be removed. 173.73.154.139 13:44, 26 May 2014 (UTC)

I am creating a page on different methods to harvest dragon eggs, and the "Unwanted/New User" notice popped up. I am relatively new to wiki pages, and feel this would be a contribution as the Dragon egg page only briefly mentions it. What can I do?

There probably isn't really much of a need for it to have a separate page, add any extra information to the Dragon Egg page itself instead. User:GoandgooTalk

1.7.10-pre3 is the newest, but it's not the latest, as it a pre-release for 1.7 instead of 1.8. I don't think we have a place to put a second development version for the PC edition, since it only comes along rarely. --User:KnightMiner (t|c) 13:55, 11 June 2014 (UTC)

pdf as image[]

I have asked this question in the german wiki already, but maybe you have some ideas. I created a pdf version of the brewing chart which is smaller, contains scalable vector graphics and might be easier to translate. You can find it on my "user wiki" site. Unfortunately I can't include it as a "normal" image as described in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Picture_tutorial#DjVu_and_PDF_files by using the optional "page" parameter. That's why I still prefer the pixel-based-png-version. Do you see any reason why this pdf is not shown as image on this wiki, and/or can you request support of this pdf-view-feature the wikipedia provides? Otherwise I'm going to remove this pdf again to prevent synchronization of multiple files with same content. Endernose (talk) 10:02, 1 September 2014 (UTC)

Why would you want to use a pdf?? Just use SVG. MajrTalk
Contribs
⎜ 11:53, 1 September 2014 (UTC)
Because of the editability (translatability) of the contained texts. Also there are some pixel graphics within the image but SVG is for vector graphics only as far as I know. The pdf contains both. Endernose (talk) 12:42, 1 September 2014 (UTC)
Just tried to save as SVG: it works with embedded bitmap images and texts are stored as plaintexts within the file. I can change them with a texteditor. But file size is larger than PNG (SVG:672KB, PNG:380KB, PDF:94KB). So I still prefer PDF-support but SVG might be an option. Endernose (talk) 17:19, 1 September 2014 (UTC)
Most programs generate bloated SVGs with a lot of unnecessary data. Try running it through SVG Optimiser or SVG Cleaner and see if that makes the file size more reasonable. -- Orthotopetalk 20:01, 1 September 2014 (UTC)
The filesize doesn't matter because it's rasterized anyway. MajrTalk
Contribs
⎜ 22:55, 1 September 2014 (UTC)
I made a comparison of the PNG and SVG at my user site. As you can see for small resolutions (width=500) the font looks different and some texts are overflowing the boxes. On higher resolution (width=1100) svg-texts are not leaving their boxes and images look quite equal. I probably have to play with different fonts and improve the layout, but I don't want to do that right now and I don't like this rendering behavior in this case. I never noticed something similar in PDF-documents so far. So I still would prefer PDF, is there any chance? Otherwise thanks for you help. Endernose (talk) 06:26, 2 September 2014 (UTC)
I would rather avoid PDF. SVGs are easier to edit, which is pretty important for a wiki. And the extension that wikipedia uses rasterizes to a low quality JPEG, which would be useless for that image. MajrTalk

It should only not work on the preferences page. Even user CSS/JS aren't loaded on the preferences page. MajrTalk

I cannot submit edits to Banner page (like changing that Koinobori link). When I click "Save page", it hangs for some time, then it fails.

The page has too many images. {{Inventory slot}} will be changed to use a spritesheet sometime in the future, but I need to finish some things before that is practical. MajrTalk

Just an idea: Maybe create a separate page for gallery (Banner/Gallery), and import it into the main page with {{LoadPage}}? User:Naista200216px 16px 08:27, 4 October 2014 (UTC)
It appears like it fails to load the page into the browser after submitting, as the link is actually changed. User:Naista200216px 16px 08:33, 4 October 2014 (UTC)
There's a few problems with that. One: the recipes would take longer to load than they do now, as {{loadPage}} doesn't get any parser cache (although it would significantly speed up the page itself); two: the recipes are used in the {{crafting usage}} and Module:Recipe list systems, moving them to a subpage would break that as the categories those systems need are only added on root pages (to stop translations and user pages causing clutter).
The edit goes through, it's just the slow parsing page combined with the generally slow time it takes to save edits that causes the page to hit the 30 second time limit and stop loading. MajrTalk

Can't login on Chrome?[]

Can't login?[]

I cannot seem to login to this wiki on Google Chrome. I can login on www.gamepedia.com just fine, but when I go to this wiki, it counts me as not logged in anymore. Attempting to login results in the login page reloading, and no error message displays. I deleted all Curse and Gamepedia cookies, and got the same result. I assume it's a login server issue. Is this a known problem? If so, when will it be fixed?

P.S.: On Internet Explorer, it says Incorrect Password, but when I click Back to go back to the Main Page, it counts me as logged in. Weird. Cr33p3ra55a551n (talk) 12:49, 12 October 2014 (UTC)

Trouble with editing some items[]

Hello Admins, I seem to be having trouble editing any of the achievement sections, as it is in category form. The information displayed is incorrect, as the PS4 and One editions of Minecraft have an updated achievement list, meaning the platform restrictions being labelled as PC only is no longer true. My problem is I see no way in which it can be edited. I am a regular on Wikia, but not on official wikis, so any response would be helpful, if not, just get somebody to edit them (who knows what they are doing of course) LazarouDave (talk) 20:47, 15 October 2014 (UTC)

Even if this has been fixed in MediaWiki (as your comment about Wikipedia suggests), for the fix to apply here Curse will have to upgrade all the wikis again, something I'd wager they're loathe to do so soon after the last upgrade (the fix is live on Wikipedia because the Wikimedia Foundation runs bleeding-edge versions of MediaWiki on WMF wikis, including Wikipedia, so it would have received the fix very soon after the devs made it). For now, your options are limited to either putting up with an incorrect time or changing the time offset in your preferences. No update to MediaWiki is necessary. MediaWiki uses the tz database, so all Curse would need to do is update their tzdata available to PHP. Anomie x (talk) 18:06, 26 October 2014 (UTC)

I don't know; a Curse representative is the only one who could answer that. Move mushrooms over redirect with edit history[]

The article Mushrooms is against the style guide, as it is in a plural case, so it really should be moved to Mushroom. I cannot move it there though, because Mushroom currently redirects to Mushroom (disambiguation). User:KnightMiner (talk) 02:56, 28 October 2014 (UTC)

I've moved Mushrooms to Mushroom, but whenever I try and move Talk:Mushrooms to Talk:Mushroom (over the existing talk page), I get a curse timeout error. Not sure what's causing it or how to fix it, but I've tried multiple times now on various devices. User:GoandgooTalk

I'm Not a New User and I want to Post a Wiki Page for my New Custom Software![]

I have been working on a new Minecraft Classic Custom Server Software and I attempted to created a new wiki page today for that software. While I've been able to edit the Custom Servers page for my software and get it in there and all that fun stuff, I have not been able to make my own page for it! I got this error: "An automated filter has detected that you are attempting to create a possibly unwanted page. As a new user, your action has been disallowed. If you believe your edit was constructive, please post a message on the admin noticeboard or notify an admin directly."

I am not a new user. I have been around for a few years on the Minecraft Wiki. I just changed my password today. Alexpotter96 (talk) 12:51, 28 October 2014 (UTC)
