Spam filter blacklist

0x10^c wiki redirect (moved out of archive because its sill a problem)

When the 0x10^c was shutdown it for some reason started redirecting to 0x10c Wiki.--User:007a83 ^{User talk:007a83 | Special:Contributions/007a83} 06:23, 22 September 2013 (UTC)

More accurately, 0x10c.gamepedia.com is being forwarded to minecraft.gamepedia.com, which definitely shouldn't be happening. Nothing we can do here, Curse will have to sort it out next week. -- Orthotope^talk 06:43, 22 September 2013 (UTC)

Used files marked as unused

When multiple files are linked through semicolons (for example in grids), only the first file is displayed as used.

Example: :File:White_Wool.png and :File:Orange_Wool.png are both used in Template:Block in the article Wool, but only the White Wool is displayed as used. (White Wool links/Orange Wool links)

The animation images are added and shown with JavaScript, so the images aren't "used" according to the wiki. When Curse updates to MediaWiki 1.21 (probably in a few months), we'll have lua and a lua version of the grid template which will create all the images, and JavaScript will just show them, so everything will work normally. –Matt ᐸ Talk

Filters

I feel I have been wrongfully blocked from speaking on the Talk page of Redstone. It says a unwanted word was found in my edit, but I don't cuss. I am a new user, Could that play a part?--DJDoseMinecraft (talk) 20:27, 29 September 2013 (UTC)

The filter blocks a variety of unwanted text, not just obscenities. In particular, it's used to prevent Herobrine-related spam on pages unrelated to the Herobrine article. -- Orthotope^talk 07:47, 30 September 2013 (UTC)

I get an error saying "An automated filter has detected external links in your edit." when trying to add a section to the Talk Memory Circuit page. But its plain text, no wikitext, nothing interesting at all! What is this filter complaining about? MilkmanGB (talk) 06:10, 9 October 2013 (UTC)

Strange; I see no reason for your edits to have triggered the filter. Tried testing it against the filter, and it even says they don't match. A workaround would be to make a few edits to other pages; after you've made several successful edits, the filters no longer apply. -- Orthotope^talk 07:15, 9 October 2013 (UTC)

Are you editing the whole page or just a section? (i.e. does the content posted back contain other's external links?)

I got that too. I wasn't even trying to add a section, just adding to something under a header in the Slime talk page. I have added sections to other things, and this is the only time I got the message. It didn't have any links in it, unless a picture counts. (And I wasn't adding the picture, it was already there). Still having left-sidebar stuff encroaching on page.

Even with the social-disease buttons disabled, now the Gamepedia givaway and Infinite Crisis notices are doing the same thing. What's more, so is the "Minecraft Wiki" logo at the top, and that usually covers half the first button on the top. On consideration, "well, you changed your text size" is not really an answer -- dealing with that is part of webpage design, and the Wiki should be able to handle folks who don't want tiny print. --MentalMouse42 (talk) 13:05, 30 September 2013 (UTC)

Now most of the page content (all but header and the left sidebar itself) is getting forced below the offending buttons, making a huge gap. This is actually worse -- at first I thought the Wiki was broken, until I thought to scroll down.

Excuse me, but exactly how is that supposed to work? My common.css has all code commented out, and changing the text size would not (and never previously has) cause a major change in page layout like that. I am using a standard browser, namely Firefox, updated to the Ubuntu standard. And I am having no such problems with any other page I visit. At this point I've got scripts completely enabled and AdBlock disabled (not that either of them has caused problems on that level before). So, exactly what in "my text settings" is causing all text content to be forced below the left sidebar? And just to make my previous statement more explicit, if a web page's formatting breaks whenever a viewer changes their text size, then that page's design is broken. The buttons and logo overlapping contents were "a little broken", though worse for actually blocking links. This new problem trades some of that minor breakage (the logo still covers some pages' corner links) for a serious presentation failure. --MentalMouse42 (talk) 20:57, 2 October 2013 (UTC)

MentalMouse, you are the ONLY one that sees the mainpage this way. No one on our wiki team, or our dev team have been able to replicate the issue, I don't see anyone else on the wiki saying they are having this issue. The images used for the contests are 140px wide, the logo is 160px wide. FOR EVERYONE. We aren't somehow singling you out for special treatment. Looking at your screenshot I can see that for whatever reason, your content area is moved over (your links all go underneath it, while the images go above it). Since you have nothing in your personal css that is causing this, and there is nothing in the global css that is causing this (since absolutely no one else sees it) the ONLY conclusion I can draw is that you have made some change in your browser, or your display settings to change this on your machine only. You know how MediaWiki handles images, you know how it handles text. We don't have the luxury to make this do whatever we want like a standard website, we have to work within MediaWiki parameters. We also don't have the luxury of enough dev time to figure out exactly where you are breaking. Until this "problem" affects more than just you, I have to call it tabled. I cannot replicate this at all. I've tried changing DPI settings, overriding the font size and using zoom and none of them cause this to happen. In all cases there are no overlaps (overriding the font size doesn't scale up the images though, so they look too small, but that's the complete opposite of what you're seeing), so this is definitely some browser addon/setting or OS setting you've got that is causing this. I suspect you've got something that scales up images independently of the font size. Try setting firefox to safe mode and see if this still happens. –Matt ᐸ Talk

I am indeed back to the overlapping without the pushdown, and thanks for trying Wynthyst. If nobody else is seeing this, I don't know what to think, but I'll look around my browser options. I am not doing anything odd with plugins (at least not odder than NoScript, which has been apparently exonerated by experiments). I'm using 10 point fonts, 12 for monospace, with a minimum of 9 and default fonts of Century Schoolbook L, DejaVu Sans, and "monospace" (which I believe are all Firefox defaults). Sound clips claimed to be not supported

On the Villager page, each of the sound clips in the infobox gives the following message:

 Sorry, your browser either has JavaScript disabled or does not have any supported player.
 You can download the clip or download a player to play the clip in your browser.

This message remains even if I tell NoScript to enable all the (many) domains wanting to serve scripts here. (As an aside, when I enabled googleadservices, the first thing I saw was a beer ad. Not child-friendly, at leastt by US standards.) Clicking through gets to a page which says I need OGG support, which is built into Firefox -- which I'm using. And I've certainly played OGG files on other sites, nor have I seen that message here before. --MentalMouse42 (talk) 00:02, 2 October 2013 (UTC)

unnecessary panel divider + header

In the german wiki there is a panel divider and the header "Navigation" in the sidebar at the top (above "Hauptseite") which immediatly disappears when you have scripts enabled. If you disable scripts (for example with ScriptSafe in Chrome) this two things stay. I figured out that this doesn't happen in the english wiki. I would like to reference a web-based tool in the Stronghold page

I was trying to add this bit to the Stronghold page:

but since it's an external link and all my previous contributions have been to non-minecraft Curse wikis, this one considers me too much of a noob to let me add it. Because it confused one person already: I know how to put a square bracket on the beginning to make it an external hyperlink. The wiki just rejects my edit when I try to save text that includes an external hyperlink (even if the text originally had that hyperlink). I added the link under External Links. Once you have made the required number of edits successfully without adding any external links, that filter will stop blocking your edits. Ad redirecting me

I don't know what it is, but 3 times in the last 10 minutes I have been randomly redirected to mysearch-engine.com without being asked and without me clicking on anything. Video embedding in Hay Bale has somehow been subverted.

Hay Bale/video shows the correct video, and the section of "Hay Bale" correctly reads just "{{/video}}", but the "Hay Bale" page itself instead shows a black box with a message "Play - Pirates: Tides of Fortune". What type of video plugin does this Wiki use? Either the extension itself does this or a script found in the footer of the page (before body is closed) is responsible for this. There is a script linked to mash.network.coull.com/getaffiliatorjs which seems to do this. Finally found out, that the ads script from Coull is creating these suspicious links. I added a filter rule to my block list and the links are gone. They were not only on the Hay Bale page, but on all pages that include videos. --StarWolf3000 (talk) 12:01, 22 October 2013 (UTC)

I'm using Chrome and the 4 different ways the internet says to clear the cache (Ctrl + F5 , F5 , Ctrl+⇧ Shift+R and Controls > Tools > Clear browsing data) did not work. Even running AdBlock just leaves a big empty gap. 19px Lennbot 19px (talk - contributions) 12:03, 20 October 2013 (UTC)

The Section Of PvP Regarding Enchantments (7)

All of the content listed there can be found on the Enchantment page. Since I already put a link to that, I believe that section 7 is redundant, while also being much less detailed then the actual Enchantment page. Even the comments regarding utilization are located elsewhere in the PvP page or are easily inferred, excluding

"Even though falling from a distance that would usually hurt you gets completely nullified by the Boots, it will still make the sound of bones cracking, and alerting those nearby to your presence," a fact that players are unlikely to need. Could you please DELETE section 7?

Filter catching edit incorrectly

I tried to post this on Chest's talk page earlier, but an automated filter thinks that there are external links in it and won't let me post. Help?

== One-way doors with chests instead of Soul Sand == I trust you all know about the one-way doorways, possible with Soul Sand. The bug is based off of the idea that Soul Sand is seven-eighths the height of normal blocks. Well, so are chests! You can do one-way doorways with chests! Chests are MUCH cheeper. And this also means you don't need pistons or anything for trapping mobs. Here's a good mob trap. Replace a ground block with a chest, and put a temporary block three blocks higher (leaving a two-high gap). Place four blocks around the temporary block, and remove the temporary block. Mobs can't escape it! (Except for spiders.) So, MUCH CHEEPER One-way doors and mob traps. As for the "we can jump over the chests" objection for one-way doors, just do what is done with Soul Sand, such as making an area of chests around the doorway instead of just one, since you need to jump from a full block to get through. (If you can't place down a chest, because it's near a double chest, use a trapped chest instead.) If you can't make trapped chests, then here's another trick. Raise the door and chest up one, and place a temporary block above the chest. Put a block to the right and to the left of the temporary block, and then place a block on each of those. Now remove the temporary block. Then make the chest a double chest, pointing away from the door. As far as I can tell, this always works. If you put two of these mob traps (the type that spiders can escape) near each other, by the way, then you can get a pretty cheap record farm. Lure a creeper into one trap, a skelly into the other, and let the skelly shoot the creeper. This is useful for people who are either very scared of the Nether, don't have a Nether portal and are impatient, don't want to waste a non-renewable block, are playing on servers without the Nether, or just don't like Soul Sand. --~~~~

Obnoxious Ads

Not sure if this is the correct forum, but I did feel I should let somebody know..

I have been using this wiki a fair bit of late and find it immensely useful. I do not generally have an issue with advertising on free sites, and understand that this is an often necessary part of supporting such resources. However, recently I have been being assaulted more and more with obnoxious ads that spontaneously start playing audio at me as soon as they're loaded (and sometimes at random other times, often looping over and over repeatedly). This is not ok, and I do not accept it.

Because of these ads I have chosen to block all advertising on minecraft.gamepedia.com, and am now recommending that everyone else I know do the same. TNT Cannon Article Copy Edit

Dear Admins,

I have copy edited much of the TNT Cannon article but, due to my being new, cannot post the changes, which include:

• Rewriting the technical naming standard
  • Replacing with direct data inputs such unnecessary calculations as subtracting from 45 and then dividing by two, which bogged down the previous naming system. A few back-of-the-envelope calculations show that this new standard will produce names that are simpler, shorter, and clearer than those of the previous one.
  • Removing duplicated values and changing values to match their names; e.g., speed is now distance over time rather than one fifth the range, which elsewhere is used.
  • Re-arranging the Common Name system to reveal the TNT Amount value, which was 'buried' in calculations
• Removing word cruft and otherwise 'tightening' the writing in order to smooth reading
• Correcting grammar errors and removing personal pronouns (or addresses) in order to provide a finished, encylopedic feel

If you would like to know my credentials, then they are: years of building huge, complex TNT cannons and large contribution to (or invention of, if memory serves!) TNT cannon nomenclature. I want to help new cannoneers understand their craft. Please let me! :)

Ads???

I'm fine with ads on the side of the screen, or even at the bottom where I can close it, but every now and then a popup opens saying this:

And I can not close out of it, so I have to click OK and go to "optimize-app.com". This is extremely annoying. And I know that the ads are provided by Curse, but can't you at least talk to them about it?

Let me say this: these ads pop up on my screen every single time I open the wiki. If I open a new tab, one of the following happens:

• tv.com: Elementary
• tv.com: "Watch Cartoon Network"
• tv.com: The Walking Dead
• "Congratulations!!! You have been selected to win a copy of the latest version of Minecraft!" (under latest version, it says Beta 1.8)
• "Congratulations!!! You have been selected to win an Apple iPad2!" (if you take their survey, tell them where you live, your full name, age, phone number, et cetera)

Adware report

On chrome (version 31.0.1650.48) your site seems to host adware.
In the youtube embeds I get EBay ads, and my pop-up blocker lastly blocked a popup.
It seems like adserver[dot]adtechnus[dot]com is hosting the malware. I've made sure it isn't one of my extensions which is causing the malware. I hope this will be solved as soon as possible, because this is an really awesome website.

Experience page's URL to the experience calculator is outdated

It should be radthorne.com/exp.php and not radthorne.info/exp.php I am the owner of both websites, and I switched everything over to a new host, in a new skin, to a new domain. This means I won't be updating the .info one any more. Could any of you please edit it, because I can't due do the filter blocking external URLs.
