- Fixed again. Worryingly, none of the recent edits are showing up in its history after fixing; the last edit present is from January 29, by Hower64. It's like the more recent edits simply disappeared. - That's what happens with a corrupt page. Every corrupt page I've seen happened due to a recent edit and the edit that caused it isn't saved.

- If there were any revisions missing it would be an API issue. You have to purposely specify to only restore some revisions, which the script doesn't do (and thus everything is restored).
- You can also tell that no revisions are deleted by looking at the page history or delete page, it would say something like "View or restore x deleted edits", which doesn't show up on data values (look at Redstone, which does have a deleted revision). Thus any missing revisions were never stored on the database to begin with. –ultradude25 ᐸ Talk

- ...Except that both times I fixed corruption on the Data values article, I discovered it by following a diff link from an edit notification email, and after fixing the corruption, both times the latest edit shown was that one from the 29th. And I know better than to mistake deleted revisions for gone revisions; I first made a point to check for any deleted revisions. - As far as I can tell, the only revision that is actually lost is the one that caused the corruption. I'll pay attention to this in the future, try to see if any other revisions are disappearing. Might be worth upgrading MediaWiki and see if that fixes the corruption issue entirely, although I don't see that specifically mentioned in the release notes for 1.19 or 1.20. -- Orthotope 07:44, 5 February 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, the wiki knows an edit happened, that's why you can access it by going to the latest diff in the history and then clicking "newer edit", or through the e-mail notification as you mentioned (I think the page will stay bold in the watchlist too, but won't show up if it was the only edit).
- What kind of information does the e-mail have in it? If it has the edit summary, then either it sends the notification while it is saving to the database, or the edit does successfully get saved but then gets somehow lost afterwards. The wiki must be storing the fact that an edit happened separately from the edit itself, otherwise it wouldn't know the put the "newer edit" link in. –ultradude25 ᐸ Talk

- It should contain the name of the editor (or the IP address if it was an anonymous editor) and the edit summary if one was provided, just like any edit notification email, but unfortunately I never thought to save one of the emails since I receive dozens of them a day from two (and sometimes as many as five or six) different wikis (edit notification emails being my primary means of keeping up with edits on the wikis I contribute to). If I get another email for an edit that points to a corrupted page, I'll be sure to take note of its exact contents, posting them here if need be so they can be compared with the page post-corruption fix. 「User:Dinoguy1000Special:Contributions/Dinoguy1000」? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 16:18, 5 February 2013 (UTC)
When Door was recently corrupted, one entry appeared in the list of recent changes, but not the page history:

The page Minecraft Wiki:Projects/Romanian translation was corrupted in some way, and it cannot be edited again! It should now be deleted, but there must be recreated a page with the same content! Door cannot be accessed. This is usually caused by a corruption in the latest version of the page and requires the page to be deleted and undeleted to fix it. Please report this on the admin noticeboard, making note of the page name. In the meantime, you can go to the history and click the topmost history entry to see the page.

RecentChanges RSS is broken
The Recent Changes RSS feed seems to have stopped updating yesterday (Feb 2). The Atom feed still works. (I use RSS because for some reason I haven't looked into, the diffs display with superior formatting.)
If you're intending to deprecate the RSS format, then please add an entry into the feed notifying users that it is no longer updated.

Update: It seems to be a caching problem on Curse's side. The feed is not giving me new changes (such as the message I wrote just above). However, if I change the URL, such as by adding a bogus parameter &thismeansnothingtomediawiki=1, then I get new content — and if I change it back I see the old content. (Tested using curl as well as my feed reader, and also using the independently-located HTTP debugger REDbot.) This sounds like there's a cache that is not respecting the expiry of the original response. (In particular, REDbot says that the base RSS URL's response is 1 day old (and stale in 10 seconds), whereas a modified URL gives current results.) - When Chrome gives you that malware detection screen, click "Advanced" and then "Proceed anyways" or however it is worded. It's just a bad ad, there is nothing to fear, it is not an attack, and I removed the unnecessary boldness in the topic title. This should also technically be in the community portal, since normal admins can't really do anything about it. I doubt even Wynthyst can do anything but inform the Curse people that deal with their network ad services.

I have been noticing of late that the http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Talk:Tutorials/TNT_Cannons page is extremely cluttered with outdated information and stale discussions. Is it possible that you could delete everything that was posted more than a month ago? Then I, or some other person could restructure the page. My proposition of a restructured page is simple: That the page be split into a "Dispenser-Based" and a "Non-Dispenser-Based" section, due to Minecraft 1.5's changes to the dispensors. Also a few subdivisions based of cannon type, as classified here: http://pastebin.com/H11XyFe8 I am anticipating a flood of new edits of that page, and if we are unprepared, it will be more of a mess than any other page on this wiki, if it isn't already. Not logged in image gallery bug
When you are not logged in, the right "sidebar" (I don't know what it's properly called -- see image) is displayed over large images. This does not occur when you are logged in. --KADC - "Be unreasonable." 00:35, 23 February 2013 (UTC)
side-by-side comparison
- The sidebar shows up when logged in for me (when I disable my personal css that is removing it, of course). Images have a fixed size and won't scale to the page size. You can see this by resizing the window where the image will actually go outside the page.
- I'll add some styling so the images can't be any larger than the page width, however the side effect of this is the image won't have a set height (alternatively, they would be squished), so the content under the image will jump down when it starts loading. Since it's just the one image it will probably be acceptable. –ultradude25 ᐸ Talk

- I'm not sure it's reasonable to expect new users to know to check the edit summaries in the page history to find out why their posts are disappearing. Instead of simply deleting such posts (which, in this case, fed right into the poster's narrative), it might be better to reply and tell them that their post is against the rules and will be deleted soon.

Is someone spamming new accounts in threes?
Hi, Sometimes I notice on the recent changes log that three randomly named accounts appear on the user creation log, and they happen within one minute. I recently saw three accounts be created between 06:14 am UTC and 06:15 today. I've seen it five other times as well. Spamming... or something else? - My guess is that there's one entry for successful creation of an account, and the other noting that it's a new user, rather than one created by an existing account. I'm not terribly worried about this person – from the account names, it's more likely to be spam pages than vandalism, and if one account gets blocked, autoblock should take care of the rest. -- Orthotope 10:03, 8 March 2013 (UTC)

Help with "spring cleaning" on the Hungarian wiki
Hi! Sorry if I'm writing to a wrong place, if that is the case, you can move/remove this as you want.
Yesterday, with some other people from the Hungarian Minecraft community, I looked through the Hungarian wiki, and we found out that it's really outdated in about everything. So, we started a little "spring cleaning" project, to update and clean up most of the wiki. However, when we began updating the templates (copying then over from here and then translating them) they didn't work because they use smaller templates, and also CSS and JavaSript, which possibly haven't been updated for a long time. Also none of our admins seem very active, so we have to turn to you.
I am asking you if you could update the CSS and JavaScript on the Hungarian wiki, so we can continue improving it. Also, if you find it a good idea, you could also move all templates from here to our wiki, like you did when it was created, and then we will translate them again.
We appreciate your time and effort. Thank you!
