Boss Update

The Boss Update is the name for Minecraft: Pocket Edition version Alpha 0.16.0, an update that was released on October 21, 2016. The iOS version was released a few days later on October 25, 2016.

The official name for the update, the Boss Update, was revealed on August 29, 2016 in a blog post on the Mojang website.

• 4 new blocks:
  • Sea lantern, Prismarine, Wet sponge, and Beacons.

  • Prismarine crystals, Prismarine shards, the Nether star, and the Potion/Splash Potion/Arrow of Decay.
• 3 new mobs:
  • Guardian, Elder Guardian, and Wither.

Changes

• Added sounds for various items, blocks, and mobs.

Further revisions

• Alpha 0.16.1 fixed some bugs and crashes from Alpha 0.16.0.
• Alpha 0.16.2 fixed some bugs from Alpha 0.16.1, and also added the Cartoon texture pack.
