Using {{Unsigned}}[]

That template always needs to be subst ({{subst:Unsigned|Blah|Blah}}), not simply applied. See Template talk:Unsigned#Usage. –LauraFi - talk 01:09, 29 December 2014 (UTC)

Will keep that in mind. Thanks! -Sonicwave talk 01:27, 29 December 2014 (UTC)

Signature[]

There's a shorter signature for you:

Do you play console?[]

I'm looking for people who do. – Sealbudsman talk/contr 14:36, 1 July 2016 (UTC)

To You[]

Nether Star
You have been given an award! This is to show appreciation for your work here.

Your activity in the past month has been extensive and diverse: vandalism reverting, administrative tasks, minor edits, talk page participation... Your help on the wiki, Discord, and Gamepedia Slack is very appreciated. Keep it up! --Minecraftfixer (report bug, view backtrace) --JF 16:31, 25 November 2018 (UTC)

Admin[]

Congrats on admin; I'm happy that your request was successful! The best advice I can give you is to just take things slow and cautiously, look at how other admins have handled situations, and if you need any help or want a second opinion, my talk page is always open and I'm sure other active admins would be happy to help out as well; of course, those as all just suggestions with no obligation to follow any of them. Good luck with your new tools; I'm sure you'll do great with them. :-)-- Madminecrafter12Orange Glazed TerracottaTalk to meLight Blue Glazed Terracotta 04:09, 28 November 2018 (UTC)

Thank you! I'll definitely try to be careful with these tools and use them responsibly. –Sonicwave talk 06:02, 28 November 2018 (UTC)

Random question[]

Why do some people sometimes have "PRO" displayed to the left of their usernames? an_awsome_person (talk) 19:03, 24 December 2018 (UTC)

@An awsome person: PRO is given to editors who reach a certain level of activity every month, though I'm not sure what the exact threshold is. The Gamepedia Help wiki page has some more details. If you wish, you can hide the PRO label from showing up by going to Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-gadgets and checking the Hide Gamepedia PRO label checkbox. –Sonicwave talk 19:27, 24 December 2018 (UTC)
Okay thanks. an_awsome_person (talk) 20:22, 24 December 2018 (UTC)

PS4- Adventure mode[]

Several members, including you told me "Blocks cannot be placed or Destroyed in Adventure Mode". I play the PS4 version. This where I'm having a difficult time believing what's stated. I also only been playing Minecraft for a month, the PS4 version is the only version I ever played.

In the PS4 version:
  • Blocks can be destroyed by the proper tool and tool quality.
  • Besides the bed, I haven't found any blocks that cannot be destroyed or contradicts the tool and tool quality conditions.

And another thing, I have heard about a "CanDestroy" tag. Does that mean if I apply that to a Nametag it will become Breakable? Terronscibe (talk) 20:41, 4 January 2019 (UTC)

I hadn't realized that Adventure mode works differently in the PS4 edition; in the latest version of both the Java and Bedrock editions (which are what most of the editors here are focused on), blocks cannot be placed or destroyed with any tools by default. The "CanDestroy" tag seems to be exclusive to the Java edition; applying {CanDestroy:["minecraft:stone"]} to a wooden shovel would allow that shovel to only be able to break stone blocks, for example. However, adventure mode did work in Java edition similarly to what you described prior to the release of 1.8, although that was over four years ago.
The Adventure page doesn't mention this difference anywhere, so if you know which tools are able to break which blocks, feel free to add it to the page. This old revision describes pre-Java 1.8 Adventure mode, so it might help. Also, the behavior of beds in the PS4 edition appears to be intentional; both MCCE-616 and MCCE-8135 were resolved as "Works as Intended" on the bug tracker by 4J Studios developers. –Sonicwave talk 21:11, 4 January 2019 (UTC)
I added some of the edition differences to the Adventure page, but I'm not sure if it's 100% correct since I don't have any of the Console editions and don't play Bedrock frequently. –Sonicwave talk 21:24, 4 January 2019 (UTC)
I didn't know there's soo many versions with different gameplays. I just assumed it was the same game on other platforms. It actually says PlayStation Edition on the PS4 version. What if every platform has different settings set from the Developers?Terronscibe (talk) 01:38, 5 January 2019 (UTC)

Can you help?[]

I have made behaviour packs for a game mode I've been working on. I took away the wither effect of a wither skeleton, they all worked fine before the new version update and now the wither effect is back. I've tried everything to remove it again in json files. I've been trying for hours and i have no idea what to do, it's the only thing making my world currently unplayable. Could you tell me what to enter into a wither skeleton json file to make it lose it's wither effect when hitting a player? I can't figure it out no matter what I try, which worked before Radoctop (talk) 03:29, 23 January 2019 (UTC).

@Radoctop: I'm not familiar with behavior packs on the Bedrock edition, sorry. My guess is that this has to do with the minecraft:attack attribute listed on the "Bedrock Edition beta add-on documentation" page. You might have a better chance of getting help in the #technical-bedrock channel on the Minecraft Discord server, the r/Minecraft or r/MCPE subreddits, or the Add-ons section of the forums. –Sonicwave talk 05:33, 23 January 2019 (UTC)

The Fandom "migration" process?[]

Hey, I'm just a bit confused, my old account Arrran Weeviling (now @DeletedUser52929) was removed along with all the user pages. Where can I read more information about this and is there any way my old account can be migrated to this one?

I'm just left a little confused.

Arrran (talk) 17:40, 31 January 2019 (UTC)

Hi Arrran, welcome back to the wiki. To reclaim your old account, I believe you should log in with the credentials of your old account (which should change that username to "User-" followed by a series of numbers), then go to https://www.gamepedia.com/account to claim a rename credit. User pages were erased and I don't think there is a way to restore them, but contributions and wikipoints are kept.
I don't know if there is a public announcement about this (though I believe there should have been emails sent), but you could join the Gamepedia Slack server or email community@gamepedia.com if you have questions about the reclaiming process. –Sonicwave talk 17:56, 31 January 2019 (UTC)

Bedrock Edition 1.10.1[]

1.10.1 was released yesterday only for Windows 10 devices to change a trial purchase issue. (https://twitter.com/MattGartzke/status/1110993348565696512) Should a page be created for this? --Velentos (talk) 13:18, 28 March 2019 (UTC)

I think so, pages have been created in the past for hotfix Bedrock versions that were only released on certain platforms (e.g. Bedrock Edition 1.7.1 and Bedrock Edition 1.6.2). (Edit: I went ahead and created the page.) –Sonicwave talk 19:42, 28 March 2019 (UTC)

Nether Update 1.15[]

Hello, Mojang announced that the next Minecraft Update will be the Nether Update so why are you posting that it won't be the topic of it? –Preceding unsigned comment was added by Michuu50 (talkcontribs) at 18:25, 28 September 2019 (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

@Michuu50: I reached out on Twitter to hopefully get a clearer explanation from Mojang, since there's a lot of confusion going on. However, this tweet says that "the [bee] will [be] in both Bedrock and Java by the holidays, alongside the ... honey block", and the 19w35a blogpost states "Well, bees are only one half of it, the other is bugs" (referring to 1.15's theme); neither source mentions the Nether. I also have private confirmation from a developer that 1.15 will not be the Nether update, but that can't be used as a source (which is why I'm hoping for a public clarification). –Sonicwave talk 18:33, 28 September 2019 (UTC)
Sorry but i'm not good at doing editions on Talk, that's why i'm making a new topic.
Have you watched the Minecon? They said that they will add new mobs like hogs and biomes like Soulsand Valley to the Nether, also new Nether trees and blue fire on soulsand. –Preceding unsigned comment was added by Michuu50 (talkcontribs) at 18:39, 28 September 2019 (UTC). I have watched the stream and don't doubt that these features will come. However, I just got confirmation from Maria Lemón on Twitter (https://twitter.com/MiaLem_n/status/1178017151195783169) that the Nether update will be in 1.16, not 1.15. –Sonicwave talk 18:56, 28 September 2019 (UTC)

Creeper/he removal[]

Good evening, I see you deleted Creeper/he submission. I just want to say it is unacceptable: The submission is still at work, and whatever you did is disturbing my work! I will be grateful for recovering my submission, because I need to work on it, and it's takes time! Regards and have a nice weekend Balagaan (talk) 19:31, 31 October 2019 (UTC)

@Balagaan: [[Creeper/he]] is still there; maybe you were looking at [[Talk:Creeper/he]] instead (which I deleted after someone else created it with spam content)? The last deletion log entry for Creeper/he was by MajrBot in 2017. –Sonicwave talk 22:19, 31 October 2019 (UTC)

Common JS gadgets from other wikis[]

For the record, you can use mw.loader.load to import Javascript from other sites. Just use an absolute URL instead of the relative one you used for autosign. Its a little bit better than copying the whole script as now when the script updates you get it (unless you needed local changes). You can even set variables before you load the script and they will get rad in the script. KnightMiner t/c 18:51, 11 January 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for the tip, it does look a lot cleaner this way. –Sonicwave talk 00:06, 12 January 2020 (UTC)

Discord Channel[]

Sonicwave, previously you talked about the wiki video project had a discord- did you mean that was on the pre-existing discord for the whole wiki or was a new one made for the video project?Travelbytrain (talk) 21:23, 9 June 2020 (UTC)

It's a channel on the same Discord for the wiki, though it's only accessible to people who verified and have the Editor role. –Sonicwave talk 21:56, 9 June 2020 (UTC)

Ban of https://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Special:Contributions/24.10.236.139[]

Please take a look at all of the changes from that IP. Looks like there is a lot of vandalism since the mid of may. Fscript (talk) 16:22, 10 June 2020 (UTC)

Update to the Did You Know edit copy[]

Hi Sonicwave, the edit copy of the Did you know section has been updated a while ago. Can you verify them and add them to the facts list? Thanks! Windwend (talk) 09:05, 17 November 2020 (UTC)

Verified and synced. –Sonicwave talk 22:45, 17 November 2020 (UTC)

Hi Sonicwave, the edit copy of the "Did you know?" section has been updated a lot since I commented here last time. Would you mind verifying them, see if they are okay to be added officially to the facts list? Thanks a lot! Windwend (talk) 04:20, 30 March 2021 (UTC)

We are very grateful[]

I really wish to thank you for helping the wiki politely and frequently all these years. I joined this wiki back to 2018 and I always tried to be construtive and find solutions even in discussions with others. For me, this was a good acquaintance with teamwork and timeliness to be more mature without losing my courteous set of attitudes.

I liked your timeline/history section, very nice! Matyh talk 06:23, 19 June 2021 (UTC)

Random Question[]

Hello SonicWave, Since your user name is SonicWave, do you like Sonic the Hedgehog from Sega? 99.60.171.180

My username is actually not based off of Sonic and is more of a play on "soundwave". –Sonicwave talk 05:38, 8 September 2021 (UTC)

"Edit=Allow only directors?" What's a director?[]

This is the first time I've heard of a "Director" on Fandom wikis. What do they do? Are they like administrators? Can administrators edit pages protected for only Directors to edit? Matthew Cenance (talk) 15:07, 14 October 2021 (UTC)

Directors is a custom role on MCW that's just given to admins of any of the language wikis; they are listed at Minecraft Wiki:Directors. The only extra permissions they get on the English wiki is to edit director-protected pages (which admins can also edit, as they are also directors). –Sonicwave talk 17:13, 14 October 2021 (UTC)

Speculation Page[]

Hi SonicWave,I would like to talk about this "speculation page" story.See,I have an account and all,but I cannot create new pages. And when I can do so,it looks like the page is send to the Canon Fandom instead of the Fanon Fandom.I don't know how to fix this problem and I don't want to mislead people. If you can help me,that would be very appreciated.Note that the second page I made was just to test if the deletion would happen again, and I don't have a single intention of making hoax.Than you for understanding me. -SuperPizza71 – Unsigned comment added by SuperPizza71 (talkcontribs) at 15:44, 22 July 2022 (UTC). Admin nomination[]

In the "More admins 2022" section you started on the community portal page, I mentioned User:NineTreyBlud as a possible candidate, but it's sort of buried at the bottom, so I just wanted to be sure you were aware of it. He was a very active editor who was absent for a year, but he returned this month. Amatulic (talk) 05:57, 28 July 2022 (UTC)

I saw the mention, but I haven't commented because he's only returned to activity for a few days, making it difficult to form an opinion (as I had reservations about him being an admin in the past). I'll try to give some thoughts on the thread however. –Sonicwave talk 05:24, 29 July 2022 (UTC)

Hi, I am Fandom's new Senior Community Manager for Gaming[]

Regarding Weird Gloop[]

Would we use the same accounts as the RuneScape Wiki once we fork to Weird Gloop? --TheGreatSpring (talk | contribs) 09:49, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
