Creeper

Don't know if you noticed in the logs, the creeper article had been indef-semi protected before. Based on the rapid-fire vandalism in the brief period it was unprotected, I'm pretty confident that reprotecting for 3 months won't be enough.

It's curious how that article attracts so much vandal attention. Probably because the creeper is iconic to the game more than any other creature in it. ~ Amatulic (talk) 04:57, 11 May 2019 (UTC)

Hey Amatulic; thanks for reaching out! Yeah, I did check the logs. I'd be happy to do so in detail here. I was thinking to do a long temporary protection rather than an indefinite protection because the indef protection was years and years ago (which was the reason it was unprotected to begin with) and the only vandalism edits since the unprotection were in a very brief period of time and likely by the same person. My main thought then was just to prevent the article from vandalism immediately and place an extended protection given its past history, but consider even longer protections once some protection had already been applied. I intend to watch the page once the 3 month protection expires and apply indefinite protection if there is any vandalism, which as I said at User talk:Nixinova#Creeper protection, I find quite likely. I have no objections to any other admin changing the protection to indefinite and I would probably be okay with doing it myself, especially if Nixinova agrees.
The creeper is very iconic and popular; there are quite a few memes across the Internet about them. I'm not surprised that the page attracts a lot of vandal attention, honestly. Cheers, --Madminecrafter12 (Talk to me | View what I've done) 19:51, 13 May 2019 (UTC)
Also, sorry for the late reply; I've been busy and had a power outage, which resulted in the frying of our Internet, we had to by a new router... fun stuff. :)--Madminecrafter12 (Talk to me | View what I've done) 19:52, 13 May 2019 (UTC)
I unprotected it because it didn't see much vandalism, but having the vandalism start again only a day after I unprotected it is probably a sign it should stay indef'ed. – Nixinova Nixinova sig1 Nixinova sig2 20:17, 13 May 2019 (UTC)
Indef it is then. Thanks for commenting.--Madminecrafter12 (Talk to me | View what I've done) 20:19, 13 May 2019 (UTC)
Yes, I don't see vandalism going away just because of a 3 month duration. Thanks. ~ Amatulic (talk) 02:15, 14 May 2019 (UTC)

Hey there, thanks for reaching out. Unfortunately I'm really not sure how to evaluate the link and see if it is in fact the Java Edition Beta 1.8 Pre-Release; your best bet would probably be to start a new section at Talk:Java Edition Beta 1.8 Pre-release. Objecting to delete request for "2x2 grid" page

Hi there I know you have done some good edits on my pages, thanks for that.

I created a new page which I think is needed but it immediately got a delete request. Please could you look at my explanations on the talk page and adjudicate? I put a lot of work into this page so I really don't want it deleted.

The page is https://minecraft.gamepedia.com/2%C3%972_grid

Thanks Spike

I agree. It's worthy of a split into a separate topic. ~ Amatulic (talk) 04:31, 21 June 2019 (UTC)
Hey, User-100128569. To clarify, I did not put the deletion template on (for the record I'm not a fan of tagging pages for deletion a minute after they're created unless they're clearly don't merit an article); you did the right thing by explaining your reasoning on the talk page. Although you may know already, the deletion template has now been removed and the article cleaned up a bit by other users, so I doubt it's in danger of deletion now, and if it were there would have to be a discussion first. For the record, I personally think it's useful to have a page that conveniently lists all recipes that can be crafted in a 2x2 grid without having to scour through the Crafting page. Thank you for your contribution to the wiki, especially if you did spend several hours working on it!--Madminecrafter12 (Talk to me | View what I've done) 13:41, 21 June 2019 (UTC)
Thank you very much - both of you. I really appreciate your help and your clear explanations in handling this. Cheers! User-100128569 (talk) 15:23, 21 June 2019 (UTC)

More autopatrol candidates

I recommend both Marinah (talkcontribslogsblock log) and Hexalobular (talkcontribslogsblock log) be given autopatrol status. Both have been around a while, and both appear to be constructive editors.

While Hexalobular doesn't have a lot of edits, s/he's been quite active recently cleaning up after my grammar edits to convert future-infinitive to present tense; correcting grammar errors that I didn't catch. ~ Amatulic (talk) 21:28, 3 July 2019 (UTC)

Thank you! My intention is to help this wiki to be tidy and a cosy place to everyone, so I always make constructive edits. Besides, I'm glad to know that you're an admin on wikipedia, and both you and Madminecrafter are excellent contributors ^^ Marinah (talk) 22:58, 3 July 2019 (UTC)

Minecraft 1.14.5 Release Page

I believe a 1.14.5 page needs to be created. It is an extremely likely version that has been rumored within a private lounge in the official Minecraft Discord by Minecraft Discord Administrators. Here is all the known information about it

Possible Upcoming Version 1.14.5 is a minor update to Java Edition of Minecraft. This update will focus on further performance and bug fixes for stability, left over from previous 1.14 versions.

This version has been rumored in the official Minecraft discord and will likely release in early September. Many users are having major issues still playing 1.14.4, and this version will fix stability for that issue and further versions of performance for servers.

5.254.40.66 03:53, 3 August 2019 (UTC)

First of all, us minecraft discord admins/mods know as much about future update updates as anyone else, and mojang never gives release dates, not even vague ones like that. And if it IS true, you hereby broke the NDA that you agreed to sign when you were allowed into that channel. FVbico (talk) 05:10, 3 August 2019 (UTC)
Just verified it, you have no source, noone ever spoke of a 1.14.5 release. FVbico (talk) 07:01, 3 August 2019 (UTC)

Possible release date for 1.16

I read somewhere that the release for 1.16 might be sometime in 2020. Can you add such info into the Java Edition 1.16 page? 111.88.15.184 14:11, 27 December 2019 (UTC)

Hey, where exactly did you read this and could you link to it if applicable? We can't add release info for pages unless it can be supported by a reliable source, but if such a source does exist that is likely valuable information. Thanks, --Madminecrafter12 (Talk to me | View what I've done) 15:00, 27 December 2019 (UTC)
Of course the release date "might be sometime in 2020" (more like "almost certainly 2020") but we just don't add incredibly vague dates to articles.  Nixinova T  C  20:02, 27 December 2019 (UTC)
Well if Mojang has explicitly stated that the release date would be sometime in 2020, I doubt it would hurt to add it to the page, but if it's only speculation then no.--Madminecrafter12 (Talk to me | View what I've done) 20:15, 27 December 2019 (UTC)

Skeleton XP farms

I created a skeleton XP farm. I play in 1.14.41 and I had no clue that skeletons don't drop XP. At first I thought it was the hoppers in my automatic sorting underneath, but I was wrong. I went on a seperate world and tested it out in several ways. Dropping XP as I stood by a hopper and a hopper minecart. Then I created my own skeleton spawner and at the bottom I stood by a minecart hopper and a normal hopper and still no XP. I have no clue if in 1.14 if the XP drops from skeletons are more rare or if my game is tweaking. Can I get more opinions pls?–Preceding unsigned comment was added by Addypatty4236 (talkcontribs) at 23:15, 23 March 2020 (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

Skeletons are supposed to drop 3-5 XP just like zombies. You do know that no mobs drop XP from fall or lava damage, etc. alone, right? A player has to get the last hit (usually designs are made so a fall gets them to half a heart so the player can just one tap them). If you did already know this, then it's probably a glitch with the version because the position of hoppers shouldn't affect XP; try killing skeletons normally and see if they drop any.--Madminecrafter12 (Talk to me | View what I've done) 01:34, 24 March 2020 (UTC)

Someone's editing certain pages on this wiki with inappropriate edits

Hi, someone by the IP of 86.174.118.254 has been editing pages inappropriately, and I would like to see if you could do something about it. He/she has been doing the edits for the pages of Java Edition 1.16, Pocket Edition 1.0.0 and Banner Pattern. And each edit has been pretty inappropriate and doesn't seem right at all. Please resolve this as much as you can, please and thanks.–Preceding unsigned comment was added by ElilenkEdwardMMOs (talkcontribs) at 20:04, 24 March 2020 (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

ElilenkEdwardMMOs: Thanks for letting me know; I and others have reverted all of their edits and I've also blocked them from editing for a week. I've been patrolling recent changes for the last hour or so checking for vandalism, but surprisingly I missed this guy somehow. In the future, you can semi-automatically undo unwanted edits yourself by going to the history tab on the top of the page and then clicking the "undo" button next to the edit you want to undo. However, you'll have to reach out to an admin if a user has vandalized enough to warrant a block from editing (which I usually do if they've vandalized 3 or more times, or twice if those vandalism edits are very severe). Thanks and let me know if you have any more questions.--Madminecrafter12 (Talk to me | View what I've done) 20:12, 24 March 2020 (UTC)

New Village Blueprints

Hello! I got your information from a page you recently deleted (link below). It was a page that had all the blueprints for the "new" village structures. I see in the log that you moved the information to the Village/Structure page, however I cannot find the blueprints anywhere. I do see that the Village/Structure page instructs one to use a structure block, however I am a crazy person who likes to manually build the game's village structures on Hardcore, so that won't work for me :) If you know could help me see where the blueprints went, I'd appreciate it. Thank you!

@Alriyah: Hey, the page you're looking for is located at Village/Structure/Blueprints. The wiki pays for nobody. FVbico (talk) 13:01, 12 April 2020 (UTC)

Are u ok with this

It is About The pufferfish. I undid your edits because I don’t see Pufferfish as being neutral because of their spikes. They are not like enderman who if you stare at comes to kill you. They are scared and don’t want to get hurt. But I don’t want cause a stir so can you give me a good reason why Pufferfish should be natural because Instill don’t quite understand. 82.18.105.207 17:29, 16 April 2020 (UTC)

We know that they can't be Defensive because that isn't a valid category categories. To quote whoever created the Defensive Mobs section of the Mob article, "they are not hostile, however, as they do not actively try to seek out and harm players under any circumstances." The article also says that "some neutral mobs have unique requirements to trigger their hostility towards the player," which makes it possible for Pufferfish to be neutral. That's my perspective on this. Slscool (talk) 17:37, 16 April 2020 (UTC)
(edit conflict) Thanks for reaching out. Honestly, I think the whole mob classification system needs a rework. "Neutral" is a confusing term because it gives the impressive that the mob is neutral towards the player, meaning it doesn't help them nor attack them, rather than sometimes being passive and other times attacking them. The reason I removed the defensive classification is because the pufferfish falls perfectly within the current classification of Neutral mobs. I don't see how it's much different from endermen; endermen are passive unless you stare at them or attack them, pufferfish are passive unless you get near them or attack them. In fact, many other neutral mobs have far stricter conditions to become hostile than pufferfish; e.g. dolphins and wolves will ONLY attack the player if they damage them. Like I said, I would support a rewrite of the whole mob classification system, but while it's still in place pufferfish falls perfectly within the current classification of Neutral mobs so it doesn't make any sense to create a whole new category only for it.--Madminecrafter12 (Talk to me | View what I've done) 17:39, 16 April 2020 (UTC)

Galleries

This has bugged me for a while... The galleries being formatted such that clicking on an image opens a whole new page, so I have to go forward and back all the time, is very inconvenient. Is there a way they can be converted to a popup "slideshow" with image page links at the top? I'm not sure if I'm describing it right but basically I think the way my MSPA Wiki does galleries is very user-friendly and intuitive. I think having the same format here would be helpful. Aepokk (talk) 17:22, 25 April 2020 (UTC)

Interesting idea; I'm not sure if it would be necessary to be able to go from one image to the next on any given page, and I feel like that could be difficult to accomplish as well, but I do think it would be useful to be able to view an image full screen without having to navigate away from the original article. I'm not sure how it would be done, however; it would probably involve the creation of scripts, most likely in Javascript, which I would be clueless about. I'd recommend opening a discussion on the community portal, so you can get input from the community on whether this change would be a net positive and if so the best way to go about it. If you'd like to start a discussion to start documenting servers, you're welcome to do so on the community portal. While documenting some of the well-known servers like Hypixel and Mineplex may not be a bad idea, I do think it would be important to make a cut-off of what servers we can include, as thousands of them exist.--Madminecrafter12 (Talk to me | View what I've done) 23:16, 30 April 2020 (UTC)

About the pages in 13w12~ and 20w08a

The in those pages they have one bug fix, like 20w20a but they don't include 20w20a, the 20w20a page inculdes them though. Can you fix this? It's kind of confusing to see this. 71.57.105.169 14:43, 19 May 2020 (UTC)

Looks like, unlike what was believed to be the case before, 20w20b (I presume you mean that, not 20w20a) actually fixed several bugs. See this and this. So 13w12 and 20w08a are most likely fine the way they are. In the future, however, you are welcome to update pages like this yourself. The wiki encourages "being bold", so you don't have to reach out to an admin for any edit you think needs to be made.--Madminecrafter12 (Talk to me | View what I've done) 14:52, 19 May 2020 (UTC)

Well, the purpose of a talk page is to talk about how the corresponding article itself could be improved, not to commentate on the actual subject of the article in Minecraft terms. So generally asking how you should build something in-game is out of scope. Eminent MC Minecraft game - Being penalised for stealing

I am new to the Eminent MC Minecraft game. I had been looking for help to do this to no avail to try and set my storage area secure. Yesterday I was banned entry to the game for 2 days and 17 hours for stealing a house from NIKO12354. I tried to get help but the administrators and owners were not online. So I did my best to try and secure my area. I never knowingly stole this players house and really am very sad that I cannot play. I am disabled with time on my hands. I thought I had found a game to pass the hours creatively. Sadly I think I have chosen the wrong game. I also bought some keys and you failed to deliver them. Did I make a fuss NO. y did you revert my edit?

the big red thing said that it should be archived yearly. It is the end of july so....... why?Humiebee 15:30, 31 July 2020 (UTC)

I admit I didn't notice the red message box, but as a general rule it's not anyone else's responsibility to archive a user talk page specifically. I feel like the message box probably didn't mean that once a year passes anyone should immediately archive the page. And especially given that he's retired, archiving yearly would be of very little benefit because there would be so few topics. I understand why you did it, but in general there's really no reason to mess with the archiving or managing of other users' talk pages. Its their responsibility to archive it as they see necessary, and if they're not active at the current time, it's best to just leave it alone. Thanks, --Madminecrafter12 (Talk to me | View what I've done) 15:35, 31 July 2020 (UTC)

Username / talk page fix

After the fandom merge, they successfully renamed my account and it looks like all of my edit history was converted to link properly to the new name. However, all the talk page links are broken and redlink to the old account which doesn't exist. I was wondering if it would be possible to run a bot through the wiki to find-and-replace any links to [[User:Aepokk]] with [[User:Aepokk Vulpex]]? Of course, if this is a selfish or silly request I can go back through my edit history for any talk pages and update the links manually... Aepokk Vulpex (talk) 16:20, 31 July 2020 (UTC)

It's certainly not "selfish" or "silly"; I'll try to get to the task later today, but I honestly haven't used my bot in a while so I'll have to relog it into AWB and set it up, which could be a bit tricky. Another option would be to redirect User:Aepokk to Aepokk Vulpex; that just involves the creation of one redirect and fixes this problem completely.--Madminecrafter12 (Talk to me | View what I've done) 19:08, 31 July 2020 (UTC)

Welcome project

Asarta asked in the community portal whether this project is still active. I noticed that you had listed yourself in the project, so I figured I would ask you. The BlobsPaper 15:20, 3 August 2020 (UTC)

It's not particularly active with the project currently, but I do personally try to make an effort to welcome constructive new users. I think due to the nature of the project it's not something that will ever be finished nor something extremely collaborative, but still something as many users as possible should help out with.--Madminecrafter12 (Talk to me | View what I've done) 16:31, 3 August 2020 (UTC)

Bedrock Edition 1.16.20

Can you change the release date for this version to August 11, 2020, since Java has that release and they are technically releasing at the same time? 71.57.105.169 22:08, 10 August 2020 (UTC)

It is not known if that's indeed the case now, or if they release very close together instead. We shouldn't make assumptions. FVbico (talk) 22:12, 10 August 2020 (UTC)

Why i'm reverting User:Mcpe4the108's edits

I'm doing it becuase it's a beta of 1.16.20, not 1.16.100, thats why i'm tagging it for speedy deletion, this link feedback.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/articles/360047105331-Minecraft-Beta-1-16-100-50-Xbox-One-Windows-10-Android- was released on July 31st , which was wayyyyyyy before today, so why beta of random version??? ---Humiebee Discuss anything with me Look at my edits 16:46, 11 August 2020 (UTC)

I'm not Madminecrafter ofc but Mcpe4the108 was asking a community manager about that version, and apparently that beta is seperate from 1.16.20. ---- Elite hog (talk) 16:54, 11 August 2020 (UTC)
ih, but like look at the changelog! also a build releasing for another version beyond 1.16.2? that makes absolutely no sense, never happened. ----Humiebee Discuss anything with me Look at my edits 16:56, 11 August 2020 (UTC)
Not sure what you are trying to say, but it seems like the changes from the 1.16.100 are not integrated into 1.16.20. Also, on BE it happened quite a few times in the past that development versions can "cross" each other (e.g. 1.2.13 and 1.2.14. ---- Elite hog (talk) 17:00, 11 August 2020 (UTC)
I have access to both 1.16.20 and 1.16.100.50, and I can verify that the changes from 1.16.100.50 are not included in 1.16.20. Therefore the build is for another version after 1.16.20, whatever that might be called.
If you think that it makes absolutely no sense that there will be another version beyond 1.16.2, that's your opinion, but not a fact. The changelog doesn't say anything about what version the build is for either. | violine1101(Talk) 17:07, 11 August 2020 (UTC)
Well......[this link] is well....---Humiebee Discuss anything with me Look at my edits 17:16, 11 August 2020 (UTC)
Obviously this is a lot more complicated than I thought it was... I don't have BE so I can't verify for myself. I've already reverted my own reverts, but I'll leave y'all to deal with the rest. If you want to discuss this further, I'd recommend taking it to one of the talk pages.--Madminecrafter12 (Talk to me | View what I've done) 18:02, 11 August 2020 (UTC)
Well we already finished the discussion from the link above so that closes it all, 1.16.100.50 is a bets of an unknown version, not 1.16.20---Humiebee Discuss anything with me Look at my edits 18:04, 11 August 2020 (UTC)

1. do this on either this talk or this talk, not here.also, litrally half of your contributions are just asking asking asking, the admin noticeboard is a good option as well not here. Regarding your deletion of the end rod fact

Hi there, it was me who added the fact about end rod's recipe. I added it because this recipe is so little known by design. to unlock the recipe a popped chorus fruit is needed, which many players don't know existed in the first place. The purpose of the “Did You Know?” section is to tell intermediate players about some facts that are unlikely to be discovered in game unless they searched for it. That's why I think this recipe fits the purpose. Windwend (talk) 18:44, 18 November 2020 (UTC)

I don't have any particularly strong feelings regarding the subject, I just thought a random crafting recipe isn't exactly useful trivia or relevant for the main page. I've gone ahead and reverted my own edit, adding it back, though.--Madminecrafter12 (talk) 14:59, 20 November 2020 (UTC)

I'm not an employee of the wiki, I'm an administrator, which is a volunteer position that is the essentially same as a normal user besides having a few extra tools, such as the ability to delete pages and block users from editing. You're welcome to ask your question right here and if I have an answer I'll give it to you.--Madminecrafter12 (talk) 15:01, 20 November 2020 (UTC)
Sorry, did not see you responded. My question is, Where is the minecraft gampedia headquarters located ( don't neeed to tell me exact place if you feel uncomfortable)? The time for this wiki is 5 hours ahead than the time is for me. Is it in england or around there, their time is 5 hours ahead? Another question is, on my talk page https://minecraft.gamepedia.com/User_talk:73.89.66.98 can you or I Delete the Warning as they are for November 2020 and it is December 2020. Looks like you've resolved this but if you have any other questions let me know. Why are you blocking spam bots locally

Since the UCP, FANDOM staff can block users from Gamepedia globally. TheGreatSpring (talk) 04:46, 15 February 2021 (UTC)

I typically block them both locally and through the Phalanx tool, which does block them globally. Blocking them locally as well makes it less confusing, as anyone is able to see that they're blocked.--Madminecrafter12 (talk) 22:46, 17 February 2021 (UTC)
