Recent deletion requests of user pages on the Dutch Minecraft Wiki[]
I have decided to not delete the following pages for which you requested deletion:
The reason for this is that those are user pages. Even though {{Vertaal Woord}} may be deleted, it is not-done to simply remove that page without the user's consent, in this case STSc's.
STSc's talk page may be misleading for you (and to be honest, so be it), but it is no reason to delete a page. Admittetly, some messages (especially the bottom ones) are from trolls, but still no reason to delete the talk page. Furthermore, it may just be on a good day that STSc will return, finding out some of his/her pages have been deleted for simply the reason that it uses a deleted template and/or for being inactive for too long.
As for the pages other than the talk page of STSc, I think putting {{Vertaal Woord}} between <!-- {{Vertaal Woord}} <reason> -->
should solve your issue if you are so desired to keep Speciaal:GevraagdeSjablonen as clean as possible. Another solution could be to put the template's code between <nowiki></nowiki>
and with a reason why you did that.
This also means, that if you find any user page using non-existing templates, you simply do the same thing as I described for {{Vertaal Woord}}. --DarkShadowTNT NL Admin (t ♦ c) 14:24, 21 November 2017 (UTC)
- Ok thanks, that's all OK with me. I agree deleting user pages wasn't really the way to go, but at least now I do know what to do with them. I'll revert the requests now and fix these pages up later. It wasn't so much my intention to keep the WantedPages clean, although it does look like it. I've just been trying to resolve any easily fixed red links, because there are still some around to pages that do exist, but these few were just confusing me (because the template was deleted) and I didn't know what to do with that. Thank you for your insight. – Jack McKalling [ ] 15:24, 21 November 2017 (UTC)
- I've gone through the <nowiki> route with comment on most cases, the red links are now gone on those pages. I hope this works out better. – Jack McKalling [ ] 10:53, 22 November 2017 (UTC)

Logdotzip might be getting information from Mojang. He has been doing a lot of stuff with Mojang ever since after MineCon
-Litorom1 Litorom1 (talk) 20:08, 11 January 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks, I'm aware of that. But that doesn't make him an official source I'm afraid. Doesn't mean he's wrong, but to be safe only use Mojang for references. – Jack McKalling [ ] 20:25, 11 January 2018 (UTC)
Refactoring project[]
I have created MCW:Projects/Refactoring edition specific information as a place to, for now, discuss how to fix the flaws in our current methods of representing edition-specific information. Since you and I seem to be on the same page about the subject, I'd appreciate your input before I publish it on the Community Portal. Do you think we can get enough support for it? – Auldrick (talk · contribs) 17:25, 7 June 2018 (UTC)
- @Auldrick: I'm sorry for not replying sooner, I've been busy with different things and forgot to get back afterwards. I'll post my feedback there soon. – Jack McKalling [ ] 21:31, 31 July 2018 (UTC)
- @Auldrick: Hi, thanks for getting the project setup. I agree with all the 17 points so far, and I support the project. I'm definitely interested to participate in this project long term, but I fear I won't be able to for a while because I've become very busy lately with other tasks and projects. I'm really glad you're offering to organize this one, as the edition specific information is currently a serious problem in my opinion. – Jack McKalling [ ] 08:54, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
A gentle cultural note[]
I thought you might want to know that something you said was slightly culturally awkward. On MCT:Patroller requests you asked "Is there one way we can do this to pleasure everyone?" Used as a transitive verb, "pleasure" is a synonym for the more common "please". But in American English at least (I don't know about other English-speaking cultures), "pleasure" has a second more restrictive meaning that could be embarrassing in the wrong context. In fact, although Merriam-Webster currently says otherwise, I think the second meaning is the more common one in recent years, with the first meaning almost always rendered using "please". – Auldrick (talk · contribs) 20:13, 2 August 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you so much! I immediately changed it. I indeed was thinking about "to please", I don't know how this went wrong. I changed it completely so this should be better. – Jack McKalling [ ] 08:18, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
/* Breeding turtles */ eggs hatch at night only[]
Hi, I've added recently that turtle eggs hatch at night only. May I ask you why you reverted this as false info?
This is my own experience, and even I found here: https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MC-126424
I spent 3 days in the game without any changes of turtle eggs, still I found that they only hatch at night. And they realy do. Even they can develop into their next stage only at night.
I'm playing with Java edition.
Cheers,
Lusti (talk) 20:35, 2 August 2018 (UTC)
- Hi @Lusti:, thanks for getting in touch with me. I've found the edit that you're referring to that I had reverted. I've had asked the help of other patrollers and play testers on the patrol-requests page before about the same information, and we could either not reproduce your statement, the mechanic changed in a later version, or there's something else that's affecting your eggs. I hope this answers your question. If you really believe your information is accurate, I suggest to get into contact with the editor involved in the verification, in this case PepijnMC. – Jack McKalling [ ] 10:46, 7 August 2018 (UTC)
- Place a bunch of eggs on sand, lock the time to day and bump up the random tickspeed to 10000. Watch when the eggs progress and hatch. Slower than at night? Maybe, but I would have to look at the code for a clear answer on that which I can't do atm since I'm on vacation. --Pepijn (talk) 22:24, 7 August 2018 (UTC)
Underwater ruins revert[]
Hello, I wonder why you reverted my edit on underwater ruins as the water on the chest is most likely part of the ruin’s structure. Please reply, thank you! - 2ombie gaming (talk) 02:10, 17 August 2018 (UTC)
- Waterlogged chests on dry land sounds like a bug, or at least an oversight on the part of the developers. On the one hand, the wiki usually doesn't go out of its way to document bugs; on the other, we do tend to document the game as it is, not as it was intended to be. I'd suggest submitting a bug report about this; if it ends up closed as "won't fix/not a bug/works as intended", it should definitely be mentioned in the article. -- Orthotopetalk 04:16, 17 August 2018 (UTC)
- What Orthotope said ^^ – Jack McKalling [ ] 07:15, 17 August 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Jack, I’m not sure if I want to report it as a bug yet, but a possible theory for underwater ruins having chests that generate waterlogged and having another water block above it is probably to prevent the chest from generating an air pocket inside its gaps. Also, ocean monuments naturally generate water as part of their structure. Well if you’re sure, I might report this issue... 2ombie gaming (talk) 07:37, 17 August 2018 (UTC)
- Also, This bug is seen in Bedrock Edition but I’m not sure about Java. Does it also exist in there? 2ombie gaming (talk) 07:39, 17 August 2018 (UTC)
- Yes I know. I'm sure it probably also happens in Java. I'm not sure whether they're going to fix it, but it'd be safe to report it and await what they say about it. Also, could you please refrain from formatting your text as code blocks? I fixed it for now but it just doesn't read very well on a talk page like this. Thanks. – Jack McKalling [ ] 07:41, 17 August 2018 (UTC)
- Whoops sorry, and can I use a picture from the gallery of underwater ruins as a proof of this bug? Let’s just say, I’m grounded from Minecraft. 2ombie gaming (talk) 07:45, 17 August 2018 (UTC)
- Sorry, I’ve used the image already. At least it’ll be proof of this 'bug' and see whether Mojang will fix it or not. 2ombie gaming (talk) 07:55, 17 August 2018 (UTC)
- Should be fine. We'll see what happens. Keep me posted when they reply! – Jack McKalling [ ] 07:59, 17 August 2018 (UTC)
- Ok. The bug number is MCPE-36793 of you need it. Hope to here you reply soon! 2ombie gaming (talk) 08:15, 17 August 2018 (UTC)
- hear 2ombie gaming (talk) 08:15, 17 August 2018 (UTC)

- Hi Jack, the moderator Neko from the bug tracker confirmed that waterlogged chests in land ruins are not a thing in the Java Edition. But it definitely is an issue in the Bedrock Edition though. I’m going to edit the page Underwater ruins with this new info. Thanks! 2ombie gaming (talk) 04:57, 18 August 2018 (UTC)
- OK thank you for getting this worked out! – Jack McKalling [ ] 08:51, 18 August 2018 (UTC)

Hello, I’ve reported this issue as a Java bug too. Anyways, I have a question not related to this. Why can’t I edit my user page without the page issuing a warning to me? So I don’t dare to even edit it now. How can I fix this? Thanks. 2ombie gaming (talk) 08:30, 17 August 2018 (UTC)
- I don't know, I cannot see what you're trying to edit in. Maybe an abuse filter preventing the edit for some reason, I can't see. Maybe Madminecrafter12 knows. – Jack McKalling [ ] 08:35, 17 August 2018 (UTC)
- I see, it’s ok. I’ll just be a silent editior, oof. 2ombie gaming (talk) 08:37, 17 August 2018 (UTC)
- Yes, 2ombie gaming, it's the abuse filter. The reason for that filter is that the UserProfile namespace should not actually be edited - it generates automatically by default (you can see it at UserProfile:2ombie gaming), and if you create it like a normal page, it actually will never show up anywhere. However, you can create/edit your user page, which is located here, rather than UserProfile:2ombie gaming. Also, you can provide some information on your profile, by clicking the "About me" pencil button above your contributions. If none of these things I mentioned are showing up for you, it's probably because you're in mobile view - if you navigate to the bottom of the screen, and click "Desktop," all of these features should work. Be sure to let me know if you have any more questions about this.-- Madminecrafter12Talk to me 13:05, 17 August 2018 (UTC)
I see, thank you for the advice! 2ombie gaming (talk) 02:51, 18 August 2018 (UTC)
As a matter of fact, I am in the mobile view, oops. 2ombie gaming (talk) 02:51, 18 August 2018 (UTC)
- No problem, I figured you were. :) Additionally, if you want to make it so that when anybody clicks on a link to User:2ombie gaming or searches for it, they will be taken to your actually user page instead of your user profile, you can set this in the Public Profile section of your preferences, selecting the "Use the standard user wiki page" option under user page type.-- Madminecrafter12Talk to me 02:54, 18 August 2018 (UTC)
