:Yes I see what you mean. However, I think it makes it a bit more confusing because you have changed the nextparent argument to be 1.7.2 (the version the snapshot is for) and the prevparent to be 1.6.4, the previous version released. I think that specifying the exact version it is released (ie changing everything to 1.8.1 should it arise) makes more sense, but I think prevparent should go to the last major version. ie for all 1.7.2 snapshots should go to 1.6.1, for all 1.8 snapshots it should go to 1.7.2, for 1.7.4 snapshots should go to 1.7.2, for 1.6.4 snapshots should go to 1.6.1 etc. I think the nexparent should go to the next major version, so all 1.7.2 snapshots go to 1.8. <span class=nowrap>–<b style=color:#282>Goandgoo</b> ᐸ <small style=display:inline-block;line-height:1em;vertical-align:-1em>Talk<br>Contribs<br>Edits</small></span> 13:50, 1 August 2014 (UTC)

Tutorials/Mob farm revisions

I fixed spelling, grammar, added wikilinks, clarified ambiguities, corrected dubious information, removed opinionated language and redundancy, introduced consistent nomenclature, mentioned caveats of the mathematical formula, formatted the formula so it wasn't extending outside of its box, wikified other formatting, made the article more concise and precise overall,... and you revert nearly everything. Actually, no, you didn't revert it. You pasted the text of an old revision as your edit, completely circumventing the standard reverting procedures and etiquette. What gives? Seriously. Do you even bother reading edit differences and summary tags in the page's history, or do you just like to "own" pages? --74.233.138.254 and 65.8.84.37 11:42, 27 April 2013 (UTC)

That was not the intention at all. If you had bothered reading the edit summaries this is what is mentioned: "Copied the rewrite from Minecraft Wiki:Sandbox/Tutorials/Mob Farm". As I was looking through the wiki's sandbox, I came across the page and the formatting and such looked far superior to what was already on the page. What I obviously didn't realise was that the 'rewrite' was based off an older revision. That was an overlook on my part. But no I didn't just revert it to an older revision - compare the edits before and after I copied the rewrite. If there is something that you feel that the rewrite missed, feel free to look at the edit revisions and copy it over. Next time please don't make false accusations without actually doing your research. GoandgooTalk

Sig title

It only accepts one word because you haven't got quotation marks around it, which you should be using anyway. ultradude25Talk

Your signature

I never really thought about this until now, but your signature is almost double the limit of 255 characters. If it doesn't fit into the default signature box in your Preferences, it's too long. I suggest using a character counter, such as this one, to aid in trimming it. Kanegasi C 22:42, 3 May 2013 (UTC)

I've trimmed it down from 420 characters to 317, is that ok? GoandgooTalk

I got it down to 270 by trimming the Contribs title and the height numbers, removing all quotes (as ultradude25 hinted at above, it's good practice to always use quotes in tags, but using attributes with no spaces in their values still work without quotes if you need to save space), using a "safe" color (first, third, and fifth hex character in the color you used), and combining the span and triple quote into just a <b>. Except for that title, that's the best I can do without changing the appearance. It's definitely an improvement and I'm more-or-less indifferent now, but someone else may or may not agree. I was just pointing out the excessive length.
Kanegasi C 00:00, 4 May 2013 (UTC)
Wow, that's an extra 47 characters trimmed off :P Just a quick question - on my info box (User:Goandgoo/info) how can I make it so that the signature is in normal font, rather than Lucida Console? GoandgooTalk

Tutorials/Item sorter

Why did you delete the content from Tutorials/Item_sorter and redirect it to Hopper? 122.59.227.101 11:21, 4 May 2013 (UTC)

Whoops I meant to have put it into Tutorials/Hopper rather than Hopper. I moved the content basically because I think a Hopper tutorial is a better place to add on other tutorials rather than something as specific as an item sorter. Btw no content from Tutorials/Item sorter was lost. GoandgooTalk

Show preview

You seriously need to use the Show preview button and check your edits. Please don't make me remind you again. — Hower64 05:50, 5 May 2013 (UTC)

I used the Show preview button but I probably didn't check through the edit properly. Next time I'll double check my edits. GoandgooTalk

Hey, can you help me?

Hello Goandgoo, I was wondering if you are familiar with modifying Minecraft in any way. Because I wanted to know how I could make it so you can use leads on hostile mobs. If you know how, I'd highly appreciate it if you could tell me, and if you don't, maybe you could direct me to someone who knows how. Thanks :)

Realms Tutorials

I can see your reasoning for moving the Realms tutorials to Tutorials/Minecraft Realms, but I think it prudent to keep them on the Realms page with a link on the tutorials page to their sections. The Realms page was meant to give information about Realms as well as show how to use it. Just a thought.

- Exhelah · Grid Book and Quill Grid Diamond Pickaxe · 05:45, 9 March 2014 (UTC)

While I agree with you that discussing how realms works on the Realms page is useful, I believe that the content was more suited to the tutorials pages. Perhaps you could ask in the community portal, I am open to change. GoandgooTalk

Sorry

I don't know why, but I feel the need to apologise to you. :(

I'm sorry if my contributions have annoyed you or the other admins at all. If you want me to stop, I will. :)

EthanCentaurai (talk) 12:36, 30 April 2014 (UTC)

When did you ever do anything wrong? Looking at your contributions, it looks like you've contributed a lot to the wiki including reverting vandalism, helping to make it better for all who use it. There's no need to apologise to myself or any of the other admins, keep doing what you do! GoandgooTalk

Thank you. This has made me feel a lot better. :)
I suffer from a sensitivity complex which makes me feel like I'm in the way or like someone is angry/upset at me. I felt it very strongly after creating the 14w18a page, as though someone said "God damn it Ethan, I was about to post that!" I suppose if I really had done something wrong, I would have been reverted or banned by now. :P
EthanCentaurai (talk) 13:07, 30 April 2014 (UTC)
If it helps at all, let me assure you that no one would have been mad if they'd been about to post that page and you beat them to the punch - and if they were, they're the one with the problem, not you. =) As Goandgoo said, your contributions so far are fine (amazing, really, hardly just fine! =D ), and you absolutely should tell your complex to go annoy someone else. Beginner's guide reversion.

Pardon me, but (1) giant mushrooms that are already spawned may be shelters of convenience, but are not a "Portable Instant Shelter", and (2) Actually growing a Giant Red Mushroom around you requires bonemeal, and this article is specifically talking about the first night, before you've even found a loose bone in the morning. --MentalMouse42 (talk) 11:39, 12 May 2014 (UTC)

Apologies, I have reworded that phrase to make it clearer that they are shelters of convenience. GoandgooTalk

extra space

What's with this edit? Is there any particular reason you added the extra space, or was it a mistake? —F‌enhl 03:39, 4 July 2014 (UTC)

I added the extra space according to the style guide: "After references (double space) will be any applicable navigation templates, like blocks, and then any applicable categories." GoandgooTalk

Oh, that's what that means. I always took it to mean double as in two newlines. Perhaps that should be clarified. —F‌enhl 01:18, 5 July 2014 (UTC)

Nextparent

Hello, good morning, I see the 1.7.2 snapshot pages are coming along nicely. I'd like to iron out a wrinkle I see possibly arising. The lead text in the 1.7.2 snapshot pages all say they are for 1.7.2, so following suit, I put the nextparent argument in the navbox to be 1.7.2. In general I like the language of it, saying it's for 1,7.2 rather than for 1.7, I think it's clear, unambiguous and consistent.

In contrast, the snapshot pages for 1.8 all say they are "for 1.8" and likewise the nextparents are 1.8 -- but what happens if 1.8 is released as 1.8.1 or something like that? Should we take the time at this stage to use variables in those instances, or wait until that should happen, or do you have any other thoughts on how the language of it can be best communicated? – Sealbudsman (Aaron) (talk) – 13:38, 1 August 2014 (UTC)

Yes I see what you mean. However, I think it makes it a bit more confusing because you have changed the nextparent argument to be 1.7.2 (the version the snapshot is for) and the prevparent to be 1.6.4, the previous version released. I think that specifying the exact version it is released (ie changing everything to 1.8.1 should it arise) makes more sense, but I think prevparent should go to the last version. ie for all 1.7.2 snapshots should go to 1.6.4, for all 1.8 snapshots it should go to 1.7.10, for 1.7.4 snapshots should go to 1.7.2, for 1.6.4 snapshots should go to 1.6.1 etc. I think the nexparent should go to the next version, so all 1.7.2 snapshots go to 1.7.4, all 1.7.4 snapshots go to 1.7.6, etc. This way, in the version that the snapshot is actually from is only shown in the snapshot from column above, rather than in the navigation links.
