Can't create my own page[edit]

I need help.

When I try to create my own page it says that I'm trying to edit another persons page and there is bad langauge. Why does it do that –Preceding unsigned comment was added by Patricktvis (talkcontribs) at 17:58, 01 March 2015 (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

Try creating it again. If it doesn’t let do this again, please tell me the message’s contents. And, please sign your comments. — NickTheRed37 (former Naista2002) (talk) 18:38, 1 March 2015 (UTC)

My edit was disallowed, could you please look into this?[edit]

Hey, I was wondering why my edit was disallowed, and I'm hoping you can push it through for me. I was trying to add

Thanks :)
Rapiermother (talk) 02:01, 21 May 2015 (UTC)

I am just guessing here, but I think it is the name of the program, as "poop" is more than likely on Gamepedia's list of words new users are not allowed to add. I would personally suggest changing the programs name, but if you insist on that name you might be able to add it yourself once you are autoconfirmed KnightMiner t/c 03:19, 21 May 2015 (UTC)

i need to delete large portions of the pvp section[edit]

there's a lot of stuff in there that's just plain retarded, like for example, it teaches you to take "captives" from past battles to use as slaves. this doesn't work since THEY CAN LOG OFF. i'm sorry if i seem a little agitated, im just really busy and im trying to take care of this quickly. please give me permissions so i can get rid of that garbage –Preceding unsigned comment was added by Rednico6 (talkcontribs) at 20:29, 26 May 2015 (UTC). All you need to do that is become autoconfirmed and you will be able to do it yourself, of which you are already halfway there as far as edits. One thing to note though is if you are planning on removing a decent amount of content, it is usually best to leave a message on the talk page first to see if anyone disagrees with its removal/agrees that it is not needed (though in this case I assume most active users will agree). KnightMiner t/c 03:49, 27 May 2015 (UTC)

Sprite sheet logs[edit]

The sprite sheet logs don't provide a summary, they simply say "$4", implying that the system message uses the wrong number. Please fix this. 13:54, 4 June 2015 (UTC)

This sounds more like a bug with the default text on the extension. We could fix it locally, but it would make more sense for curse to fix the default KnightMiner t/c 20:03, 4 June 2015 (UTC)

Mods For Ps3 Minecraft[edit]

I think everybody that plays minecraft Ps3 edition kind of gets bored of regular minecraft. So I was wandering, would there be a way to add some mods into minecraft Ps3 edition? If you it would be the greatest!---- –Preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

File series[edit]

I have a request: file pages that have similar variations (like a healthbar with 0/2, 1/2, 2/2 of a heart), this details page for example: should have a "series system" similar to this: (a pepper meter that represents how spicy a food is with 6 different variations, just scroll down and you see all of the related files). That way, if a new user want to see all the related files on this site, he/she can find them easier to know their names (example: what's the half-heart image called?, looks at an empty heart, finds a link to a 1/2 heart and acknowledged the name) Steveprotagonist (talk) 04:24, 8 August 2015 (UTC)

Do you notice anything wrong with the picture on the right? -BDJP (t|c) 01:42, 9 August 2015 (UTC)

Are you saying removing that line fixes the issue? Because there is no HTML change upon removing that line break, thus it should be impossible to actually appear differently (unless iPads render it oddly for some reason, which you should report to curse to get fixed, as such line breaks have worked for years and continue to work on all other wikis) KnightMiner t/c 02:26, 9 August 2015 (UTC)
Even odder is that its also happening on my laptop. I'll get a picture up here as soon as I get my free trial of Office 365 installed. -BDJP (t|c) 05:01, 9 August 2015 (UTC)
I've added the picture. My OS is Windows 8.1 btw. -BDJP (t|c) 05:07, 9 August 2015 (UTC)
If you're talking about the numbers, that is just the auto-number headings preference. Anyone with that setting enabled that caches a page will cause the numbers to be shown for everyone. MajrTalk
05:17, 9 August 2015 (UTC)
Is that a bug with MediaWiki or is that the intended behaviour? GoandgooTalk

It doesn't happen on wikipedia, so probably broken caching on gamepedia's part. MajrTalk

Majr, what's even odder is that I don't even use the auto-number preference, and yet it still happens. -BDJP (t|c) 19:49, 9 August 2015 (UTC)
"Anyone with that setting enabled that caches a page will cause the numbers to be shown for everyone." I would assume that Kkkllleee has that setting enabled, which is why the numbers appear whenever they edit and disappear whenever someone else edits or purges the page. MajrTalk

How might User:Kkkllleee, or any of us, go about disabling this setting? – Sealbudsman (Aaron) SealbudsmanFace.png T/C 04:20, 19 August 2015 (UTC)
Did I do something wrong?--Kkkllleee (talk) 05:24, 19 August 2015 (UTC)
Not wrong. BDJP (and the rest of us) was seeing auto-numbering in the page's headers, and Majr hypothesized it might be a setting of yours that's doing it, based on when BDJP sees the numbers, which seems to be after your edits. If that's the case, Orthotope below gives directions on how to turn it off. Why would personal settings do such a thing to the wiki, I dunno. Seems a little silly. But please check and turn it off if it's on, thanks! – Sealbudsman (Aaron) SealbudsmanFace.png T/C 05:37, 19 August 2015 (UTC)

Differences in renewability bw Computer and Pocket[edit]

The summary on is that it's not necessary to state the difference in renewability between editions. We make other such distinctions between editions, why not this one? – Sealbudsman (Aaron) SealbudsmanFace.png T/C 02:15, 18 August 2015 (UTC)

I thought that considering the nature of its renewability (resetting the Nether), it's of a gameplay thing and more of a technicality which causes it to be renewable. Also, should we mark distinctions, it would probably be necessary to have 3 subheadings for each content page with the nature of its renewability, rather than being added adhoc to certain pages. GoandgooTalk
08:13, 18 August 2015 (UTC)
Also, the infobox automatically adds a category based on whether the status is "yes" or "no", adding "not in blah blah version" notes breaks the category. Really the best way to check for renewability is on renewable resources. KnightMiner t/c 14:27, 18 August 2015 (UTC)
Good points. Goandgoo: about resetting the nether, I tend to agree with you on that, although I can't gauge how consensus that is, considering there's a row in renewable resources talking about resetting the nether. Meanwhile, I think we wouldn't need 3 subheadings for each content page. What are some thoughts on if we were to implement some renewableconsole and renewablepocket params, to be used where there are exceptions, which write to the same row in the box? For instance, Renewable: Yes (No in Pocket and Console). I consider this sort of a HESI idea, I don't know if there is any objection to that taking place in the {{item}} or {{block}} template. – Sealbudsman (Aaron) SealbudsmanFace.png T/C 15:03, 18 August 2015 (UTC)
I would personally go with some sort of "renewable note" parameter, which would not only simplify things code wise (no need to check each edition to see if it is required), but allow us to easily support upcoming as well. KnightMiner t/c 15:13, 18 August 2015 (UTC)
Sounds like a good idea to have this renewable note parameter. As above, we could have a discussion on the renewable resources page as to whether resetting the nether counts as renewable resource gathering. GoandgooTalk

My link section is always deleted...[edit]

Hi Goandgoo,

I'm the developer of Minecraft Editor from Axialmedia, someone is erasing my section every 30 days and I'm tired of putting back my links in the Map Editors section. Is it possible for you to do something about it?

Thanks in advance, Jeff –Preceding unsigned comment was added by Axialmedia (talkcontribs) at 16:24, 19 August 2015 (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

Looking at the page history, it seems they removed it because their antivirus program considers the site potentially harmful. The use of convoluted javascript rather than plain html links does look rather suspicious to me; I usually only see that on sites with some sort of malware infection. The best way to keep the links from being removed is to make sure your site is clean and not triggering any of the major virus scanners. -- Orthotopetalk 20:22, 19 August 2015 (UTC)

Thanks Orthotope, I changed my links on the webpage to be pure HTML code, now it should be alright.

Template:Items - Merging "decoration" and "utility"[edit]

I think it doesn't make sense to split decoration and utility items. Most of those can be decorative and useful at the same time. For example, I can use armour stands simply to show my enchanted pink leather armour (decoration), or to do fancy command block things (utility); I can use item frames to show my cool diamond pickaxe (decoration), or to label chests or build secret combinations (utility). The difference between decoration and utility uses is so small most of the time. I guess it would be better to have all of them in the same "Decorations & utility" section. --Mainardicraft (talk) 17:17, 29 August 2015 (UTC)

While I agree with you that some of the items can be used as both decoration and utility, some are purely decoration and some a purely utility. Also the title "Decoration and utility" takes up too much horizontal space, perhaps line breaks could fix that though. Still not certain on all this though, perhaps bring this discussion over to that page's talk page and see what other people think. GoandgooTalk

Interwiki links[edit]

I'm sorry, I don't really want to start anything over such a minor thing, but could you please explain why my edit on Blaze was undone? I was reading the style guide constantly before making edits, and I once again re-read it, and I couldn't understand some of it. Once again, I apologize! I'm used to editing on Wikia and I'm not used to some of the ways here.

Also, I apologize for the edit on Tree, it just seemed like a lot of content was removed and I wasn't honestly thinking straight. I don't have hard feelings on this, I'm just a confused newbie and I want some explaination from experienced users. And I apologize if this message came out as rude or offensive, Regards,

TheFoxGirl (talk) 23:52, 24 October 2015 (UTC)

It's great to see you coming to this wiki and helping around! Don't worry about what you did in regards to the Tree page, it's all ok. In regards to the revert to the Blaze page edit, it relates to this part of the style guide:
Linking to a redirect is preferred over using a piped link except in templates and other pages that will be transcluded. When a piped link is unavoidable, it should not point to a redirect. If a redirect can be avoided using a suffix on the link, that is preferred.
Essentially, to avoid visual clutter, it's ok that glowstone dust leads to a redirect, and is preferred over piping the link (as you did). GoandgooTalk
00:16, 25 October 2015 (UTC)
Thank you for the explanation! I'll keep that in mind in the future. Once again, I apologize for bothering you! TheFoxGirl (talk) 00:20, 25 October 2015 (UTC)

Creating 0.12.4[edit]

0.12.4, a patch for MCPE, is on the bug tracker, yet is not in Planned versions, nor is it a page. I tried creating it, but it "may be unwanted", and I was redirected to the Admin talk page. Any help? 22:27, 5 November 2015 (UTC)

I would avoid creating pages based on the bug tracker's future versions, as all a future version means is not this update, but soon. If sources for the version exist outside the tracker, or someone (mojang or tracker moderator) confirms that is not just a pseudo-version, then the page can be created. KnightMiner t/c 22:34, 5 November 2015 (UTC)

Since I see you've been adding entity data to lots of articles, I put together the inheritance tree as of 15w45a for you, along with a (possibly incomplete) list of tags handled at each level. Names in quotes are made up, names not in quotes come from the code.

  • "Entity" (ro) - note that the "standard" entity tags are done by a different function, so I didn't include them here.
    • Item (xz) - Health, Age, PickupDelay, Thrower, Owner, Item
    • XPOrb (ru) - Health, Age, Value
    • AreaEffectCloud (rm) - Age, Duration, WaitTime, ReapplicationDelay, DurationOnUse, RadiusOnUse, RadiusPerTick, Radius, Particle, OwnerUUID, Color, Potion, Effects

      • ThrownEgg (aae)
      • Snowball (aab)

    • "Hanging" (xm) - Facing, TileX, TileY, TileZ
      • LeashKnot (xo) - (overrides all inherited tags, but not the standard "Entity" ones because of the different function)
      • Painting (xp) - Motive
      • ItemFrame (xn) - Item, ItemRotation, ItemDropChance
    • "ArrowBase" (zr) - xTile, yTile, zTile, life, inTile, inData, shake, inGround, pickup, damage; on load recognizes "player" as a boolean to replace "damage"
      • Arrow (aai) - Potion, CustomPotionEffects
      • SpectralArrow (aac) - Duration

I've added a sentence to the bottom of Chunk format/Projectile regarding the fact that they are independently implemented, apart from that is there anything else that needs to be changed/might be wrong? Perhaps we could put this tree in a collapsible table at the top of the page so people can see the true hierarchy, as implementing nested tables and a nested hierarchy will probably be very tricky/near impossible the way it is currently set up. Making References[edit]

Hi! A while ago, I asked Pocket Edition Alpha 0.12.4. That's not a problem any more, but how do I cite references? I just made the Alpha 0.14.0 page, and the reference won't work properly (even though I copied it from planned versions). Help? 22:32, 21 November 2015 (UTC)

You didn't add the {{reflist}} template. –LauraFi - talk 00:56, 22 November 2015 (UTC)

Pocket Edition Alpha 0.14.0[edit]

I made this page, and it got deleted twice. The first one was understandable, but the second was not. I had three good resources, and they all add up to 0.14.0 being the redstone update, part 2 of 3. I ask here because you said it had "no significant sources". What's Mojang gonna do, shove other stuff in between the redstone updates? Seriously? Why is there no page now?! 00:08, 26 November 2015 (UTC)

Do you have actual sources for your claims? As in Mojang saying it is another redstone update? (the only one I saw just said 0.14 or later) Otherwise, it falls under Rule #4.1 as to why it was deleted.
Also, note that just having a couple references does not warrant a page. It may have been mentioned, but without direct ideas as to what's in the update, it is best left just on Planned versions KnightMiner t/c 02:22, 26 November 2015 (UTC)
