Hello, can you create Lithuanian language page?

Have you looked at this page: [[Minecraft_Wiki:Projects/Lithuanian_translation|the Lithuanian translation project]] ? — Game widow (talk) 18:14, 8 January 2017 (UTC)

Yes, but I want to separate Lithuanian language page, etc: https://minecraft-ko.gamepedia.com/Minecraft_Wiki; https://minecraft-ru.gamepedia.com/Заглавная_страница; https://minecraft-de.gamepedia.com/Minecraft_Wiki.

Then contact Majr and discuss whether or not you've met the criteria — Game widow (talk) 19:05, 8 January 2017 (UTC)

Rights of users groups in Ru-MCW[]

I found a group of "autopatrol". Given its minor importance, I propose add right to administrators to be eligible for inclusion in this group. in russian: Я обнаружил группу "autopatrol". Учитывая её малую значимость, предлагаю добавить администраторам право на включение в эту группу.Ivan-r ru.Wiki Admin 16:22, 13 January 2017 (UTC)

For now, i can make sure all admins on minecraft-ru are also in autopatrol. I will bring up the issue at our team meeting — Game widow (talk) 16:44, 13 January 2017 (UTC)
I double-checked and administrators already have autopatrol as a right. The global group is available to all wikis as many have asked for it, in particular for non-admin but trusted users. If you don't want to use it, you are not obliged — Game widow (talk) 16:50, 13 January 2017 (UTC)
You don't understand me. I want to add experienced users in this group (autopatrol). — Ivan-r ru.Wiki Admin 19:08, 13 January 2017 (UTC)
OK, just tell me which users and i can add them — Game widow (talk) 19:14, 13 January 2017 (UTC)

No no no. On RUSSIAN Wiki. Not ENGLISH wiki. — Ivan-r ru.Wiki Admin 12:43, 8 August 2017 (UTC)
Oops, it's early — Game widow (talk) 13:14, 8 August 2017 (UTC)

Instead of having Russian admins like Ivan-r suggest assigning the group to various Russian users, I suggest adding the right to assign and resign autopatrol group to administrators on any Gamepedia wiki directly. See also Minecraft Wiki talk:Community portal#Proposal to restrict bureaucrat’s rights. The usergroup has minimal profit of usage, and telling a bureaucrat or especially a Curse employee to assign this status to someone is excessive. — BabylonAS (talk | ru.Wiki Admin) (fka NickTheRed37) 15:24, 8 August 2017 (UTC)

Talk to Majr about that, please — Game widow (talk) 15:25, 8 August 2017 (UTC)

Greek Wiki[]

Need to add a global banner. Need to try to attract new users to the Greek wiki. You will be able to do it? — Ivan-r ru.Wiki Admin 09:39, 24 January 2017 (UTC)

Ben (User:Smokie) has said that we cannot do a global (as in throughout Gamepedia) banner, but a banner across all the language versions of Minecraft wiki is fine. Probably Majr is the best person for that. What would you want it to say? I can add a banner on the one other Greek wiki we have (witcher-el) — Game widow (talk) 13:36, 25 January 2017 (UTC)
A temporary site notice (1 week?) can be added to the en wiki. The admins on other languages are free to translate and add the site notice too if they think it is beneficial. MajrTalk

Hello. May I know why a Greek wiki has been launched? I don’t remember the [[MCW:Projects/Greek translation|Greek-language translation project]] ever being significant. — NickTheRed37 (issues’ wall) 13:43, 27 January 2017 (UTC)
It was discussed with Majr and he agreed. Basically, other languages were not being launched due to unnecessary red tape, this is a pilot initiative to see if it helps at all to launch them sooner — Game widow (talk) 13:55, 27 January 2017 (UTC)
Then why exactly Greek language? Why not, say, Czech (the corresponding project has over 400 articles and is probably the most complete one to date)? — NickTheRed37 (issues’ wall) 16:28, 28 January 2017 (UTC)
Because a user specifically asked for it and this is the last i'm going to say about it — Game widow (talk) 18:22, 28 January 2017 (UTC)

About the "patrol" user group in Chinees Minecraft Wiki[]

Hi, Game widow. Through recent edits, I've found that it's of much necessity to add following permissions to 'Patrol' usergroup of Chinese Minecraft Wiki: blockemail, markbotedits, protect, nuke, bigdelete, abusefilter-log-detail, abusefilter-view, abusefilter-log, abusefilter-private. The former five rights are due to increasing spams, while the latter four are for study purpose. Also, please give this user group a Chinese name "巡查员".Thank you.SteveZihang zh.PatrollerBook and Quill 15:11, 4 February 2017 (UTC)

I will look into this first thing on Monday — Game widow (talk) 15:13, 4 February 2017 (UTC)
That group already had patrol, rollback, deleterevision, autopatrol, block, delete, undelete, browsearchive, deletedtext, deletedhistory, I've added the extra ones — Game widow (talk) 12:56, 6 February 2017 (UTC)
Thank you.I think you can give this user group a Chinese name "巡查员",The Chinese name should be display on UserProfile and Special:ListGroupRights.SteveZihang zh.PatrollerBook and Quill 14:37, 6 February 2017 (UTC)

About the GUI of Extensions made by Curse Inc.[]

The display language of Extensions made by Curse Inc.(Such as Wikipoints, Profile, Achievements) is English,I think it should be translated. There are two ways to translate it.
1.Make .json file(such as i18n/zh-hans.json).
2.Create MediaWiki page.(If we translate it in this way,we may need a usergroup with editinterface premission)
I'm Looking forward to your favourable reply.

Editing the interface has nothing to do with patrolling. Tacking on irrelevant rights to an existing group is worse than just creating a new one. Craft Lawrence, the edit interface right is pretty much the most powerful right admins have, if you're willing to trust someone have that right, there's no reason not to trust them with the rest of the admin rights. Edit patrolling[]

Hello, Game widow.

Can I know why the autopatrol group is ever created? I don’t think the default edit patrolling system is ever used or needed anywhere on Gamepedia. Wikis that need a tool for approving certain revisions (the Polish Minecraft Wiki comes to mind) are using extensions like FlaggedRevs to accomplish this, because it allows some pages only showing a revision that is approved by someone. Default patrolling doesn’t support this. As it is said in Russia, why fence the garden (зачем огород городить)? — NickTheRed37 (talk) 14:37, 1 April 2017 (UTC)

Because it is not at the top of the list for our platform team. It is on the list, but there are more important things to get to first — Game widow (talk) 14:48, 1 April 2017 (UTC)
I’m not requesting to install FlaggedRevs on all wikis by default, not every of them is big enough to benefit from this. I just want to know why is the autopatrol group present. — NickTheRed37 (talk) 13:57, 2 April 2017 (UTC)
The autopatrol group was added because many wikis requested it. If you don't want to use it, you are under no obligation to do so — Game widow (talk) 16:12, 5 April 2017 (UTC)
Requested? Under what circumstances? Just “many wikis requested” doesn’t cover everything, requests are made based on circumstances. — NickTheRed37 (talk) 14:57, 7 April 2017 (UTC)
Management here felt that sufficiently many wikis wanted this and that is was useful. That is all the reason you need — Game widow (talk) 16:01, 7 April 2017 (UTC)

The platform team has looked into this issue and cannot fix it right now. We are moving to version 1.29 of Mediawiki in the very near future and hope to resolve the issue at that point. — Game widow (talk) 17:28, 29 June 2017 (UTC)

Search not working on Turkish wiki[]

When trying to search anything on then new Turkish wiki that is not in the main namespace (example, another one), it shows an error with the description: “We couldn’t finish the search due to a temporary problem. Russian wiki resource load issues[]

The Russian wiki is experiencing significant resource load issues. Any HTTP request to the site may timeout after 20 to 30 seconds with CloudFlare error 520. The description provided by Cloudflare is "There is an unknown connection issue between Cloudflare and the origin web server. As a result, the web page can not be displayed."

The error is affecting all types of target pages; when loading an article page, no errors may occur, or an image, a JS file, a stylesheet may fail to load, or the page itself may not load.

This seems to occur for most users.

There have been less major errors as of maybe a week now.

Also I noticed that some resources successfully load with enormous load times (15 seconds or more).

The issue affects all pages (including regular browsing, editing and API requests), but it is most visible on large articles like this one. In case of this article, the best case scenario is that many files will not load and will instead display their names. --AttemptToCallNil (report bug, view backtrace) 13:18, 3 August 2017 (UTC)

Is this just today? If so, it is network-wide and being looked into — Game widow (talk) 13:54, 3 August 2017 (UTC)
When it happens, if you could try to get https://minecraft-ru.gamepedia.com/cdn-cgi/trace and email the results to me at witcherwiki@gmail.com , that would help — Game widow (talk) 14:16, 3 August 2017 (UTC)
I'm not sure what I am supposed to do with that page.
I made a copy of the page output several seconds after I got an article (and not a loaded file) to fail with a 520. Should I email that output?
Maybe I can use Firefox Developer Tools network analyzer to obtain request information? (Response headers? Error details?) --AttemptToCallNil (report bug, view backtrace) 15:05, 3 August 2017 (UTC)

Ru-wiki broke gadgets[]

Broke all the gadgets that are associated with the input block of description. Disassembled source code. After your updates have been transferred to the identifier of the specified block to the root. That's how it was: [2]. So it became: [3]. But it should be (from Wikipedia): [4]. Please fix. — Ivan-r ru.Wiki Admin 20:31, 8 August 2017 (UTC)

I will add it to my list, but possibly asking Majr would be faster — Game widow (talk) 22:59, 8 August 2017 (UTC)
You will have to change your gadgets to not rely on the location of #wpSummary. Don't rely on it being in the new location, as when we one day update to 1.30, the ID will be moved back (as can be seen on Wikipedia), breaking everything again. Or if curse decided to disable the OOUI editform because of the double breaking change it's performing, then it would also move back again. MajrTalk

We have two gadgets interacting with #wpSummary. I fixed one of them, and the other one is being loaded from Wikipedia and can't be fixed locally. The problem with the gadgets is that they assume #wpSummary is the input field itself, while due to the upgrade the ID now refers to its parent <div>. My fix for the gadget makes it construct the jQuery object for the input field not from '#wpSummary', but from 'input[name="wpSummary"]'. Judging by Ivan-r's screenshots, this should work for 1.30 as well. --AttemptToCallNil (report bug, view backtrace) 07:56, 12 August 2017 (UTC)
I would suggest recreating the one you load from wikipedia locally and then trying your fix — Game widow (talk) 10:39, 12 August 2017 (UTC)
The script seems to be broken beyond repair at least under this edit form layout. I can't get it to work after several attempts. Looks like the Russian Wikipedia (where the script is loaded from, and on that site it is not a gadget but a user script) uses some other script for this purpose (which does work), but I can't determine its origin.
I temporarily disabled the gadget on the Russian wiki. --AttemptToCallNil (report bug, view backtrace) 12:42, 12 August 2017 (UTC)

ru.wiki: Error 502[]

Appearing frequently on viewing and editing. Appears for multiple users. One project is stalled entirely because several of its pages are relatively large and can't be edited due to "502 Bad Gateway" errors (previewing and saving edits causes the error page to appear almost every time, and edits aren't always saved). --06:32, 13 August 2017 (UTC)

Are there specific pages where this happens, or is it any page on the wiki ? — Game widow (talk) 10:58, 13 August 2017 (UTC)
This typically occurs on heavy pages. This page is rather resource demanding, and I just caused an error to show by switching to edit mode and clicking "Show preview" without making any changes.
Sometimes a 504 "Gateway Time Out" error occurs instead of a 502. --AttemptToCallNil (report bug, view backtrace) 11:13, 13 August 2017 (UTC)

Your issue is that you're using FileUrl to create the URL for the spritesheet, rather than a stylesheet, which is significantly faster. FileUrl is intended for ease of use, not performance. MajrTalk

Most of the affected articles were apparently related to the IndustrialCraft 2 mod, articles on which have mostly switched from using Grid files for inventory slots to the sprite system. So it was that sprite sheet which used FileUrl instead of a CSS class. The project which was also plagued by the 502/504 errors is dedicated to IC2 too: many articles on this mod need to be updated. — BabylonAS (talk | ru.Wiki Admin) (fka NickTheRed37) 14:09, 13 August 2017 (UTC)

Problems with achievements[]

Good afternoon. Two years ago, I contacted with Wikipoints problems but because of the recent update of achievements (April-May, 2017), those problems have already been returned. I always gain 1000 Wikipoints every day but now I'm gaining 200 Wikipoints. Or it should be so? I have lost my fairly earned the 100th level because of these bugs! Where is this wiki's LocalSettings.php?[]

Hi Game widow! I have currently a question where this wiki's LocalSettings.php is, I thinking to see the source code and so, where is this wiki's LocalSettings.php? Wikipedia-logo psl85 (profile | talk | contribs | send email) 05:57, 13 July 2018 (UTC)

LocalSettings.php is usually not publicly visible because it normally contains sensitive information such as database passwords. While I would be very surprised if Gamepedia hadn't moved all such sensitive information out of their wikis' LocalSettings.php files, I would be more surprised if they actually publicly shared a LocalSettings.php file. Therefore, I think you'd have much better results asking about the setup for some specific setting or group of settings, rather than the whole file. ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 09:21, 13 July 2018 (UTC)

D4zzzBOT[]

Do you remember whose bot D4zzzBOT is, or why you gave it a bot flag? Ability to make batch edits?[]

Is it possible for admins to make batch wiki edits? (e.g. replace a word with another, preferably with RegEx) If it is, how can I achieve that? --Alswo9628(4)ko.Admin (talk) 16:42, 2 December 2018 (UTC)

It would depend on the exact situation, but in most cases, yes, it's possible. What exactly were you looking to change? — Game widow (talk) 19:36, 2 December 2018 (UTC)
It's not possible that I can make the edit? If so, please wait a day or two, I'll compile the list of Before-After word sets. --Alswo9628(4)ko.Admin (talk) 04:05, 3 December 2018 (UTC)
Alswo96284 Have you heard of AutoWikiBrowser? Would that work? Just make sure to be careful with it and I strongly recommend skimming through the user manual of Wikipedia before using it. One thing that's different here from Wikipedia is that any registered user can use it; they don't have to apply at a request for permissions page.
