Hi GreenStone, how did you shrink the size of the file by 20KB without changing its size? Just wondering. Thanks, -- Numbermaniac - T - C 08:13, 1 April 2013 (UTC)

I use pngout. To make optimizing easier, I wrote this batch file:
@echo off
for %%t in (*.png) do pngout %%t
pause

Userpage[]

You turned your userpage into a redirect to itself, which isn't very useful. Did you mean to redirect to ru:User:GreenStone instead? -- Orthotope 01:17, 3 May 2013 (UTC)

That was done at 3:23 a.m. I have no idea what I tried to do. Replaced with suggested redirect. --GreenStone(cont) 06:28, 3 May 2013 (UTC)
GreenStone, I owe you a big thank-you. So, thanks for noticing and getting me unblocked. --70.181.68.226 01:51, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
I was just telling Numbermaniac about a problem with Kanegasi's talk page, because it wouldn't show up. And it was like, "Current message" signed by an IP. And it had a link to someplace. --70.181.68.226 01:54, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
But it's fixed now. Some ridiculous people... --70.181.68.226 01:55, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
Kanegasi's talk page: the vandal added a div tag with a style parameter. The style replaced the page with a huge white box that hid the "Edit" and "History" buttons to make reverting harder. --GreenStone (0x54; 0x43) 04:27, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
I was kinda freaked out, I guess that's why it blocked me. But I assure you, I would never do that ridiculous lemon spam. --70.181.68.226 04:55, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
They also did it to Meeples10's and Creepergoboom64's talk pages. But that's also fixed. --70.181.68.226 04:58, 31 May 2013 (UTC)

And to your talk page. Full list of vandalized pages can be found here (note that the IP is blocked for 6 months). --GreenStone (0x54; 0x43) 05:04, 31 May 2013 (UTC)

I saw that while I was blocked, I tried to intervene, but I was blocked. Luckily they didn't do that thing where the screen goes all white. --70.181.68.226 05:11, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
Why did you ask Dinoguy to unblock me and no one else? --70.181.68.226 05:21, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
Any administrator could do it, he was just the first to read the message. --GreenStone (0x54; 0x43) 05:34, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
Okay, rephrase. Why did you ask an admin to review the block thingy for my block and no one else? --70.181.68.226 11:38, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
Only administrators can view the abuse filter log and unblock users. --GreenStone (0x54; 0x43) 11:49, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
Yeah. Only administrators can even view the abuse filter or edit it. And only admins can block or unblock users. –- (T) Numbermaniac (C) 12:06, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
I meant, review anyone else's abuse filter block. --70.181.68.226 12:16, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
Still only administrators can use the Abuse Filter. –- (T) Numbermaniac (C) 12:22, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
I knew that. --70.181.68.226 12:26, 31 May 2013 (UTC)

0x54, 0x43?[]

May I just ask, what do those parts mean in your signature? I see where they link, but I don't understand their meaning. - (T) Numbermaniac (C) 01:09, 1 June 2013 (UTC)

Beats me. --70.181.68.226 03:48, 1 June 2013 (UTC)
They are hexadecimal numbers. 0x54 translates to the ASCII Latin capital letter "T", which he happens to have linked to his talk page. 0x43 is "C", for contributions. Kanegasi C 04:52, 1 June 2013 (UTC)
Can you please tell me, in plain English, what in the world that means? --70.181.68.226 04:53, 1 June 2013 (UTC)
Just ASCII number conversions. Go here and trace down the table to T and C and you get their respective decimal, hexadecimal, octal, and html codes. Kanegasi C 04:57, 1 June 2013 (UTC)

Writing a book on Minecraft[]

New user group on Russian wiki[]

I'm a bit confused as to who runs what on that wiki. I am happy to leave final decisions to you if that works best. I suppose I acted too quickly on this request given the issues with the CAPTCHA — Game widow (talk) 22:07, 15 September 2014 (UTC)

The only other Russian bureaucrat, HEKP0H, is inactive since February; Ivan-r is the only other user with admin rights that edits the wiki frequently. I find the "who runs what" question impossible to answer, and I don't know why. --GreenStone (talk) 14:47, 17 September 2014 (UTC)

Quote on Ladder[]

Hi, I was wondering what you were seeing/solving when you did this edit on the Ladder page. I do see quotes "overlapping" the infobox (see Sponge, Wolf etc), but only when running Firefox with AdBlock. As far as I can tell, AdBlock leaves some ad-container element in place that screws with the layout. -- is that where you see the overlap, or were you seeing it anywhere else?

I was hoping, ideally, there was some nice way to resolve it without needing to move the quote, but I wasn't sure in which cases, other than what I've seen, the overlap was happening. Hence why I ask. – Sealbudsman (Aaron) SealbudsmanFace t/c 15:15, 9 June 2015 (UTC)

This is what I currently can see in my Alpha sandbox (which is a copy of a previous revision of the Ladder page). I'm certain Adblock causes the issue, but I'm not certain my interpretation of your request matches the intended interpretation. --GreenStone (talk) 15:22, 9 June 2015 (UTC)
Yeah, that's what I was asking. So, you're seeing what I was seeing, and you're seeing it with AdBlock. Is it on Firefox? – Sealbudsman (Aaron) SealbudsmanFace t/c 15:27, 9 June 2015 (UTC)
Yes, it's on Firefox. --GreenStone (talk) 15:28, 9 June 2015 (UTC)

How do i change font on the notification flyouts[]

hi, i asking how do i change font on the echo flyouts, i want another font on the flyout and the number on the badge, and here on this wiki is it partially hard to se if i get any notification because the badge is being white if there is new notifications and grey if there is none, i want to have the badge red if i get new notiifcation istead of white, how do i? I have posted this question on many users' talk pages and i do not get any reply, please can you give me instructions how i change the font and colour on the badge and font on the flyout here, please? I'm not experienced with Echo because I don't use it, but I asked around, and RheingoldRiver provided me with this snippet (without 100% guarantees that it works):
.mw-echo-ui-notificationItemWidget-content-message-header {
    font-family: "Comic Sans MS",sans-serif;
}

.mw-echo-ui-notificationItemWidget-unread, .mw-echo-ui-notificationItemWidget-unread div {

How do I change font in the top bar and how do I remove the only templates[]

hello, i asking, how do i change font in the netbar at the top with the gamepedia logo, the echo (notifications) badges and my personal tools, and also how do i remove the ugly ‌[Java Edition only][Bedrock and Legacy Console editions only] ({{only}}) templates, i do not like these templates, how do i? Philip57sundfors TALK CONTRIBUTIONS 09:53, 5 November 2018 (UTC)

For the former (use whatever font family you actually want):
div#netbar {
	font-family: 'Comic Sans MS' !important;
}
As for the latter, there are no HTML/CSS classes specific to these templates, so it would be problematic to remove them all without either editing the template to add the classes or resorting to complex and unreliable JS. --AttemptToCallNil (report bug, view backtrace) 12:01, 5 November 2018 (UTC)
Ok, can you please discuss on the template talk:only for the {{only}} template and add a class (example "template-only") so i can add this to my css:
.template-only  {
	display:none
}

and the only templates will be removed. How do i otherwise to remove them? -- Philip57sundfors TALK CONTRIBUTIONS 09:30, 6 November 2018 (UTC)

Bees. Page blocked?[]

My page was blocked for no reason. I created it for the new mob, bees. Eclipsear (talk) 15:32, 22 August 2019 (UTC)

There are automated filters to prevent new and unregistered editors from creating new potentially problematic pages. Since your article was one paragraph of unformatted text with no templates, the filter incorrectly assumed the article should not be saved.
It is strongly advised to have at least some basic formatting in an article. An infobox like {{Entity}} or a navigation template like {{Entities}} are strongly recommended.
In addition, if you make several successful edits, most filters will stop reacting to your contributions. Ten edits should be enough for most filters. --AttemptToCallNil (report bug, view backtrace) 16:14, 22 August 2019 (UTC)

Hi, I checked them from memory, nothing seems totally off. I applied a few minor fixes and synchronized the actual list with the edit copy. --AttemptToCallNil (talk) 21:37, 17 November 2020 (UTC)
Hi, I just checked the list and it is not updated. I'm talking about the list of facts that only admins can edit, which will actually affect what is shown on the home page. Here is a link to it. Can you sync between them? Windwend (talk) 21:45, 17 November 2020 (UTC)
I synced it just now. The changes seemed correct to me as well; the only one that I wasn't sure of was the "nearest 3 strongholds are on average twice as far in Java Edition than in Bedrock Edition" since the stronghold page isn't very specific on how frequently they generate in Bedrock. –Sonicwave talk 22:54, 17 November 2020 (UTC)

What's the process for appealing blocks?[]

Hi. There's a question you may be able to answer at Minecraft Wiki:Admin noticeboard#IP 105.186.90.113.

On the English Wikipedia where I'm an admin, I'm quite familiar with the process of appealing blocks. Is there an analogous process here? I'm clueless about any advice I could give.

Technically that IP address is evading the block, but I feel that the account should be unblocked. She's been a really good contributor as an IP address for the several months I've been observing edits from that IP address range (an ISP in South Africa). Amatulic (talk) 14:36, 4 June 2021 (UTC)

There is very certainly no formalized process. I'll raise the matter with other admins. --AttemptToCallNil (talk) 14:38, 4 June 2021 (UTC)
OK. On Wikipedia there's wikipedia:Template:Unblock that users can post on their talk page to appeal a block. It causes the user to appear on the category page wikipedia:Category:Requests_for_unblock. That's probably more than what the Minecraft Wiki needs, but it would be good to have some sort of way that a blocked user can appeal.
At a minimum, we should have a page similar to WP:Guide to appealing blocks that gives users helpful advice on how to formulate an appeal. Then a blocked user can simply be pointed to that page.
For Him, though, a page of helpful advice wouldn't do any good because talk page access is revoked, and I am not sure why. The contribution history indicates that she was trying repeatedly to use her talk page to appeal, not knowing what else to do, and then she got frustrated and vented on her talk page with a personal attack on Dhranios. That was wrong, but I can't blame a newbie from reacting that way; I would also have been frustrated at the lack of an appeal process. Amatulic (talk) 18:00, 4 June 2021 (UTC)
He will no longer personal attack anything! 105.186.81.169 18:08, 4 June 2021 (UTC)
@Amatulic: I'm not sure this situation would be common enough to warrant an MCW-specific page. There is already some information on Fandom Community Central, and context-specific advice might be provided as well. Also, unless I misremember things, the account was blocked due to prior history of editing, not just due to actions using that account. AttemptToCallNil (talk) --18:17, 4 June 2021 (UTC)
The account was blocked for sockpuppetry. The editor has been constructive an IP address since then. She doesn't want to create a new account for fear it would be blocked (for sockpuppetry). Even though she is evading her block by editing without logging in, it would be a shame to block the IP range for evasion because then we'd lose a good editor.
My own selfish motivation for appealing in his behalf is that he's prolific enough for me to get annoyed at seeing so many unpatrolled edits from her that I need to look at and patrol each one to clear them out of my watchlist. He's a good vandal fighter. He makes an occasional good-faith error that needs reverting, but I also make mistakes that need reverting. Everyone does. I know we can't give an IP range the autopatrol right. The solution is for him to have an account that eventually is granted autopatrol, but he can't create a new one, he needs his original one unblocked. Amatulic (talk) 18:37, 4 June 2021 (UTC)
By the way, currently contributing from Special:Contributions/105.186.81.169. IP address is obviously DHCP and changes periodically, but all from 105.186.*.*, so every new IP address has a short contribution history, but it adds up to a lot of good edits from one person. Amatulic (talk) 18:52, 4 June 2021 (UTC)
The blocker was Dhranios, who has now permanently left the wiki. So maybe there is hope for that editor. James Haydon (talk) 21:32, 4 June 2021 (UTC)
It was AttemptToCallNil themselves who did the original block. Dhranios modified the block. TheGreatFall (talk) 08:57, 6 June 2021 (UTC)
In the block log, it said that it was personally harassing and block evading. What was the account before that? (The sockmaster) Humiebeetalk contribs 21:50, 4 June 2021 (UTC)
The only other account I know of was a subsequent account Venus Minecraft (talkcontribslogsblock log). The block log says one thing. The user's actual contribution history says another. If multiple accounts were used, where they actually being abused? A lot of newbies are unaware of the prohibition on multiple accounts. Amatulic (talk) 05:25, 5 June 2021 (UTC)

(I just realized that "Shagufta" is a female name, and the IP self-referred as 'she' above, so I changed my comments above accordingly. Apologies for that error.) Amatulic (talk) 13:58, 5 June 2021 (UTC)

well he is a male and the ip one is a male. 105.186.241.206 14:04, 5 June 2021 (UTC)
The question is, is Shagufta Arai your account that is blocked? And if not, what is preventing you from creating an account? Amatulic (talk) 14:31, 5 June 2021 (UTC)
it is... Account creation disabled. 105.186.241.206 14:34, 5 June 2021 (UTC)
OK, then. Now that we've established that you're the same person as Shagufta Arai (even though you are male in real life but the account is a male name), I ask again, would you explain your understanding of what you did to get blocked? And what other accounts have you created? Full disclosure of your activities here is typically required for an unblock appeal. I have been appealing in your behalf, but you need to make an appeal yourself. Amatulic (talk) 14:45, 5 June 2021 (UTC)

I'll have to do many hours of analysis just to get the raw data for the context. 2) My call for other admins received no reaction whatsoever since the moment of its posting, despite multiple other admins being online in that time. This means I will not, as usual, be assisted in any way in handling this request. 3) Due to unidentified and severe issues with my personal health, I am unable to perform involved tasks for the foreseeable future.
Due to the above, I believe I am unable to handle this request in any way. I apologize for the incompleteness induced by this. --AttemptToCallNil (talk) 15:21, 5 June 2021 (UTC)
How will you able to handle this? 105.186.241.206 15:28, 5 June 2021 (UTC)
I did unblock that account because another admin spoke in favor of this. --AttemptToCallNil (talk) 08:50, 6 June 2021 (UTC)
What another admin did you spoked? Shagufta Arai (talk) 08:58, 6 June 2021 (UTC)

@AttemptToCallNil: tell us now! 105.186.241.206 17:20, 6 June 2021 (UTC)

I'm not sure it's OK to reveal their identity given the conversation was conducted in an admin-only channel. If that admin wants to, they can write here that it was them who commented on the subject. --AttemptToCallNil (talk) 21:19, 6 June 2021 (UTC)
Well, I don't like to EVADE BLOCK! 41.147.0.203 16:38, 9 June 2021 (UTC)

Block request[]

User:112.200.192.0/19 is back,so can you block this ip for infinite days? 105.186.241.206 10:47, 5 June 2021 (UTC)

Shared IP addresses in a range typically don't get indef blocks. Also you should post this at Minecraft Wiki:Admin noticeboard#Block requests and click on "add new request". Amatulic (talk) 13:52, 5 June 2021 (UTC)

Wait! Since you are unable to handle this, Are you going to autoblock me if i use my blocked account? 105.186.241.206 08:25, 6 June 2021 (UTC)

It's been handled, you were unblocked the same day you wrote that sentence. I'm glad. Now just remember to edit while logged in, and don't create new accounts. If you want to change your username, that can be arranged while maintaining the contribution history. Unfortunately, merging the contributions from all your IP addresses is not technically feasible. I know you actually have hundreds of edits more than your Shagufta Arai account. Amatulic (talk) 14:44, 19 June 2021 (UTC)

Warning on me[]

Hey, well BDJP007301 and HaydenBobMutthew gave me a warning but I was a vandal fighter! So maybe you could take care of them or contact them? 105.226.47.149 19:05, 19 June 2021 (UTC)

What's taking too long? Ask me! 105.226.47.149 11:07, 20 June 2021 (UTC)
There is nothing actionable here for an administrator to do. The best approach, if you have a disagreement with other editors, is to communicate with them yourself on their talk pages. And do it while you are logged in. Nobody knows who you are if you are just another IP address. Amatulic (talk) 14:51, 20 June 2021 (UTC)
Then where should I put it? 105.226.47.149 15:47, 20 June 2021 (UTC)
On the user's talk page who you want to communicate with. Amatulic (talk) 11:38, 21 June 2021 (UTC)

Please block me! 105.226.31.202 18:05, 20 June 2021 (UTC)

Please be constructive here. Your account was unblocked. Use it, continue doing your good work, and avoid annoying the admins. Amatulic (talk) 11:39, 21 June 2021 (UTC)

Rename request[]

Can you rename Shagufta Arai to Venus? 105.226.31.202 13:32, 22 June 2021 (UTC)

Such requests must come from Shagufta Arai, not from an IP address. Also, requests like this should probably be put on MCW:ADMIN rather than an individual's talk page. Amatulic (talk) 14:34, 22 June 2021 (UTC)

Revisit an old proposal[]

I proposed a revisit of a proposal you made in 2018. Mine is at Minecraft Wiki talk:Talk page guidelines#Revisit removal of comments from user's own talk page. Basically I'd like to see our guideline be more in alignment with Wikipedia's, to contribute to a more consistent user experience. Amatulic (talk) 17:50, 26 June 2021 (UTC)

Accidental edit that I can't revert.[]

I was rewriting the blocks section of the Java_Edition_2.0 page, and I replaced the lists with paragraphs. And made a few more edits to fix some bugs that happened because of them. But apparently that's against the version page style guide. I tried to revert it by clicking the undo button on my first edit but it didn't do anything. Can you revert my edits please?

It's been done. Amatulic (talk) 01:54, 28 January 2022 (UTC)

Question[]

Can you become an admin and a bureaucrat at the same time? I would like for you to become a bureaucrat. Where is that possible? --Logomansbutcher1138 (talk) 02:30, 5 April 2022 (UTC)

I don't think there is any special need for me to become a bureaucrat on this wiki at the moment. --AttemptToCallNil (talk) 04:31, 5 April 2022 (UTC)

Problem with Stone block states[]

Hello! There is a problem with the block states table for Stone. Polished Andesite is listed with the metadata value of 5 instead of 6. I tried to fix this but couldn’t figure out how. The table is created by using: {{/BS}}. Neither /BS or Stone/BS are existing templates. So either this is a Gamepedia thing (I mainly edit Fandom wikis) or its voodoo wiki magic. Anyways, I was hoping you knew how to fix it - or maybe you know someone who can? Thanks!

Whoops, forgot to check if Stone/BS was a page. I thought that it had to be a template and not an article subpage. Anyways all is fixed now :) Hydroquake (talk) 07:06, 14 April 2022 (UTC)

You introduced a bug into Module:LootChest[]

See Minecraft Wiki:Admin noticeboard#Error with loot chests. Amatulic (talk) 14:45, 10 June 2022 (UTC)

The error was introduced in edit 2136652, I actually fixed it. Because of that edit, several upcoming pool lists became part of ordinary pool lists (they were supposed to be sibling nodes) and were interpreted by the module as one of the pools. Since the upcoming lists ended up empty after the edit, the module crashed due to absence of some critical fields that all pools are expected to have. --AttemptToCallNil (talk) 06:48, 11 June 2022 (UTC)
OK, I had assumed it was you just based on all the activity I saw in the contribution history. Thanks for fixing. Amatulic (talk) 18:35, 11 June 2022 (UTC)

Game modes[]

Hey! I finally figured out how to switch game modes!!! – Unsigned comment added by 67.80.132.73 (talk) at 21:00, 21 December 2022 (UTC). Sign comments with ~~~~

Good to know. Enjoy the game. --AttemptToCallNil (talk) 06:22, 22 December 2022 (UTC)

Patrol achievement[]

How do you get the Patrol achievement? Do you go on a page a lot in a single day or do you make sure there aren't any errors? TheGamerPainter (talk) 03:43, 1 May 2023 (UTC)

You need to have the special patroller user right in order to mark pages. Once you do, you will see a button at the bottom of any page asking you to mark it as patrolled if anyone who isn't autopatrol has recently edited it. You will need to be a very major contributor to be granted patroller perms. James Haydon (talk) 04:27, 1 May 2023 (UTC)
