What does this do?[edit]

Ooh, what does this do? --70.181.68.226 01:54, 20 June 2013 (UTC)

Oops, I used that little button thingy. Same thing happened on Meeples10's talk page. --70.181.68.226 01:56, 20 June 2013 (UTC)
Its fine, it is an input box which is a special plugin the Minecraft wik uses. I have some experience with it because it is also used on Wikipedia. FalkirksTalk 16:00, 20 June 2013 (UTC)

Some file tips[edit]

A few things about how we handle files. When Curse started to set up other language wikis, they decided that the German and Dutch wikis should share the same database location as the English wiki. This causes an issue when one of the three moves or deletes a file, which then corrupts the file on the other two. It also causes an annoying side effect of sharing preferences if a user has the same username on two or all three wikis. We are expecting the language wiki databases to be split once Curse wraps up their new wikifarm conversion, which will also upgrade our MW to the most recent version. This also brings me to an issue we have with the title blacklist. For some reason, our blacklist does not work with files. We have performed some tests a few months ago in order to prevent users from uploading files with the default Minecraft screenshot name, but they failed. Hopefully, this issue will be fixed when we upgrade.

Another thing to note is how the Mojang license works. We do not have the Wikipedia copyright policy that files must be used, nor do we have the restriction of using copyrighted files only in articles. Anything Mojang has branded may be uploaded to this wiki and used on this wiki in any way, provided that the media and derivatives are marked, such as mods and skins, with the license. Files under a copyright not related to Mojang, Curse, etc., or in Wikipedia terms, "non-free files", can also be used in any way provided the copyright involved also has some sort of personal use, permission, or other similar clause. Just like Wikipedia's non-free article use, just on our whole wiki. Kanegasi C 06:25, 21 June 2013 (UTC)

Okay I am glad to have some information :)
I will keep this in mind in future. The only pics I marked for deletion were ones that had not :been used and were just basic screenshots. Thus servering no purpose. Nevertheless I won't :do this in future. FalkirksTalk 13:50, 21 June 2013 (UTC)
Your actions were fine, and I did delete a few of them, but was just clarifying why I left File:10.png alone (although badly named, it's just a user image) and didn't rename File:1000000.png (which is somewhat of a descriptive name given what it is). I also wanted to clarify that none of them violated any copyrights, which you stated in your tags. Kanegasi C 18:01, 21 June 2013 (UTC)
Okay that makes I think I am getting a grasp of your copyright license templates. Thanks for the clarification. FalkirksTalk 18:04, 21 June 2013 (UTC)

Subst[edit]

Welcome templates should ALWAYS be substituted. The way you are doing it, it is not being substituted, and it needs to be changed. hotdogPi-t--c--Try my quiz! Do not click! 22:09, 21 June 2013 (UTC)

I am sorry you have an issue, but my templates are now always substituted. You must be seeing an old one. I could also be that my welcome template is setup only to work for me so there is no real need to substitute it because signature is already rendered. The only flaw to having the signature already there as it will be tagged in recent changes as unsigned. I can't really provide any constructive arguments because you didn't supply any reasons why I must sust: my welcome template. I guessed it was because of the signature but if you have any other issues please comment. FalkirksTalk 23:07, 21 June 2013 (UTC)
The reason why you should substitute is because we don't want unnecessary transclusions. It's the same concept as always substituting signatures. You could potentially welcome many users and editing a page transcluded into many pages is a significant server load. We even had to adjust our article nav templates a bit ago so that editing them didn't cause a server problem. Use welcome templates as a substitute so that the resulting post is full plain text. Also, about your edit in Meeples10's user space, please don't edit other user pages, regardless of good intentions. Post edit suggestions on their talk page. Kanegasi C 23:55, 21 June 2013 (UTC)
Oh I see what you mean. Well it doesn't matter since I am already substituting them. As for the edit on Meeples page. I am very glad you noticed that. It shows you are actually looking. I explained it on Meeples talk page. What happened is Meeples copied and pasted my inputbox but didn't set it up completely with the appropriate preload page. FalkirksTalk 00:00, 22 June 2013 (UTC)

Oh do you mean this:

User:Falkirks/collapse I just fixed an issue with the documentation not being wrapped in noinclude tags but I don't think that was causing any issues. FalkirksTalk 19:06, 22 June 2013 (UTC)

I'll test it again and see if it works. User:Meeples10 Talk

Whitespace[edit]

Please don't remove the line under headings. This is how mediawiki formats headings, and its also how the project:style guide says to format headings. ultradude25Talk

I am sorry but it decreases the page size and has no negative effect on the page. It actually has no effect at all. I use Media Wiki supported program AutoEd to detect formatting errors and it does this for me to decrease page size. If it is a huge issue I will try to turn it off this autoed feature in my user JS. FalkirksTalk 00:32, 26 June 2013 (UTC)
I was using AutoEd complete but I am happy to switch over to AutoEd WikiChecker which won't detect bad whitespace. I have added it as a comment to my JS and will put it in if the complete starts messing up or if you back your points up further as to why I should. FalkirksTalk 00:40, 26 June 2013 (UTC)
It doesn't matter if it does anything. If you don't follow the style guide then it means when someone who is re-adds the lines, they'll just be removed again when you edit next, which results in a nasty amount of "dirty diff" and since it does nothing but reduce the page size (by 1 char per header, which is nothing), all it does is clutter the diffs.
Of course, you're welcome to comment on the style guide to get support for changing the guidelines on the headers, but until then removing them just makes a mess.
On a related note, you shouldn't be doing only whitespace changes on a normal account. You can do them while you're already editing a page for something that isn't whitespace, but on their own it just clutters the recent changes with edits that don't change the page at all. Get a bot account if you want to make lots of edits that consist solely of whitespace changes. ultradude25Talk

Recent changes is anything but cluttered :) I would be happy to get a bot account sadly I don't make that much edits that are automated although I am getting some AWB experience on Wikipedia and could help here. I will remove the whitespace cleanup from my toolset. On a related note, as long as an edit is in good faith it is welcome. It would be better if it improved things though. I always check minor edit do just hit hide minor edits and they will no longer be shown. FalkirksTalk 00:57, 26 June 2013 (UTC)
Done, thanks for being helpful and informative! FalkirksTalk 00:59, 26 June 2013 (UTC)
I apologize if you already know, but another difference we have from Wikipedia is that we do not restrict the usage of AWB. Feel free to use it here if you need to for normal editing. As for minor edits, I cannot speak for the other admins, but I personally will not hide them. It seems counterproductive for a user of elevated rights, or just a normal vandalism hunter, to not be looking at all activity while they're online. I do hide the user creation log though. It gets annoyingly large near the end of the day on the enhanced RC and there's rarely a bad username. Kanegasi C 04:31, 26 June 2013 (UTC)
I just assumed because I logged in and AWB wasn't working on the wiki. I will try again later. I also am trying to get experience running automated scripts on my own wiki so I and attempting to get to know the bot version of AWB. I need some scripts to block and fix things on my wiki. As for hiding minor edits your reasoning to hide them is justified I am simply reminding you that the possibility to hide these edits is there. FalkirksTalk 01:53, 27 June 2013 (UTC)

Help I am very new and would like a page like yours[edit]

I would like some of the stuff on your page like the talk box except not moving I also think that the texture picture in the toolbox was neat I may not use it though. ~ LABHOUSE (LH) 02:19, 15 July 2013 (UTC)

~ LABHOUSE (LH) 16:32, 15 July 2013 (UTC)

You can use the templates I have made for this stuff. If you need anything specific just ask. FalkirksTalk 02:01, 19 July 2013 (UTC)

We could use another template like resorce packs[edit]

I think we could use another template that replaces what block sprites and things look like if you don't have time it's completely ok I will just see if anyone else would like to help I thought you might like doing so. ~ LABHOUSE (LH) 01:33, 19 July 2013 (UTC)

I haven't had much experince working with those templates. I would be happy to help out as much as I can. FalkirksTalk 14:53, 19 July 2013 (UTC)

Hey there![edit]

Hello! I've been looking through your user space for no reason. :D Anyway, I stumbled across your repeat me page and was kinda sad to see it didn't work. I can fix them if you want... I'm assuming it's because of the new username. Bye! -- t numbermaniac c 04:15, 25 September 2013 (UTC)

I'm fixing everything up gradually, should be done soon :) FalkirksTalk 04:16, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
You might actually want to fix your sig... -- t numbermaniac c 04:25, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
I thought the system had reset my signature to default, it looked like that earlier, anyway I fixed it! Falkirksnh 04:32, 25 September 2013 (UTC)

Committed identity[edit]

Could I have a committed identity? Also, how exactly does it help one regain access to their account? --Bunny365 (talk) 02:00, 4 December 2013 (UTC)

Let me explain, a committed identity is a hashed bit of information about yourself. You add it to your user page so when you lose access to your account you can provide the original text to an admin and attempt to get your account back. I'm not sure if this can work with the new gamepedia stuff though. Falkirksnh 04:32, 5 December 2013 (UTC)

Odd userstuff...[edit]

I notice you have a new username now, but both the userpage and talk page for it are empty! Did they get deleted by a vandal or have you just not made them yet? - Exhelah t - c 21:28, 25 June 2014 (UTC)
