Minecraft Wiki

This is a mockup of a possible Help page.
It explains how a logged-in user can set their Preferences to hide information about Minecraft editions they aren't interested in.

This page describes how you can customize the Minecraft wiki pages so that they don't show you details about Minecraft editions you don't use. For example, if you only use Minecraft: Java Edition, you can customize your view of the wiki to omit details that only apply to the cross-platform version.

This customization is stored in your user account, and it only takes effect when you're signed in to the wiki. You don't have to create a user account to use the wiki, and you don't have to sign in even if you do, but in either of these cases you'll see the default versions of articles, which includes information about all editions. We encourage you to create a user account, and to sign in when you're on a secure network, so that you can take advantage of this and many other preference settings. If you'd like to create a user account now, click here, or you can create one at a later time by selecting the "Create an account" link at the top of the Main Page.

How to specify which edition to show[]

To specify your preference for which edition is shown in articles, first you need to copy a small amount of text to your clipboard. The text to copy depends on which edition you want to show. Copy it from the following table:

Edition to show Text to copy
Java Edition span.bedrock-only {display: none}
span.java-only { }
span.ps-only {display: none}
Bedrock editions span.bedrock-only { }
span.java-only {display: none}
span.ps-only {display: none}
PlayStation Edition span.bedrock-only {display: none}
span.java-only {display: none}
span.ps-only { }

Once you've copied this text, you can click this link to go to your Preferences page. (You could also click the "Edit Profile" link on your User Profile page, or search for the page named Special:Preferences.) Select the Appearance tab at the top of the page. The first preference is called Skin; this is what you'll change. Make sure the Hydra button is selected, then click the Custom CSS link to the right of it. This will take you to a page named "Creating User:<your name>/CSS". Simply paste the text into the big blank box, then click the Save Page button beneath it. (If you get a warning that you "haven't provided an edit summary", just click Save Page a second time to ignore it.)

You might want to change which edition is shown at a later time. To do so, simply repeat this procedure, replacing the previous text with the text for your new preference. Or, if you want to cancel the customization and show all editions again, delete the text.

Note: Under certain circumstances your preference may not take effect immediately on a page, due to your browser already having an older copy of that page in its cache. To make a change take effect sooner, clear your browser's cache, then reload the page.
