About the new tags[]

I really don't think any of these tags should have more than two characters, both displayed and as a parameter, simply because adding several tags with such long names will look pretty messy. They're just tags, not full descriptors. --Barracuda 07:19, 9 November 2011 (UTC)

Oh, I also think that [wtf] sounds pretty immature. Just saying ;) --Barracuda 07:21, 9 November 2011 (UTC)

Major Bug is a redundant category[]

Major Bugs are, at best, poorly defined. The best definition for them is availible here but it's still not completely strict and users can easily abuse the category to bring their own "personal" bugs to the foreground. Can we have either a more solid definition for the major bug category or remove it entirely so that there is just a disctinction between crash bugs (red [!]) and bugs (grey [X])? --Mattrition 09:15, 7 May 2012 (UTC)

  • I suspect the problem is the tender age of much of the user base. If you're 13, any bug you encounter is a critical bug, because it was you that encountered it. Policing the bug ratings is a slight pest, but the higher priority flag is handy when used by those who know how to apply it. We just have to keep bumping the trivial bugs back to a more sensible rating. Also there's lots of interest in the weekly builds at present, so we're seeing more bug-reporting activity than usual. If it sustains this higher level, I'd begin to agree with you, but I think it's just a temporary blip.--Simons Mith 12:50, 1 June 2012 (UTC)

"Occurs only in..."[]

The current phrasing for SP etc. bugs is 'This is for bugs that occur only in a particular game mode.' But I'm not at all conscientious about checking other modes because of the setup work sometimes needed. Wouldn't it better reflect current usage by the typical player (including me) if we rephrased it to say, 'Please state which game mode you were in when you encountered a bug.' Then if someone else sees the same bug in a different game mode, they should be encouraged to adjust the indicator. With SSP, SMP, CSP, CMP, ASP, AMP, Mac, PC and Linux there are 18 combinations. How many people would ever check all those? I think it would be more accurate to ask players to say what mode they were in when they did find a bug, rather than pretending to take it on trust that they checked all the game mode combinations available to them.--Simons Mith 12:50, 1 June 2012 (UTC)
