I removed the redirect to Talk:Java_edition_version_history as I believed the version history page should have an accompanying talk page. I for one do not like the new system, but mainly because it shows people are moving away from Java Edition, which I see as the true Minecraft. Merge

Since this page is turned to be a disambiguation page, there is also another disambiguation page that was used to be the disambiguation page before the move. We should merge these two page together.--Skylord wars (talk) 13:33, 19 April 2018 (UTC)

Yeah, you're right. I completely forgot about that page. I would suggest deleting this page and moving Version history (disambiguation) to this title.-- Madminecrafter12^{Talk to me} 13:42, 19 April 2018 (UTC)

Remove "Java Edition (blank)" for versions of the game that never existed in other versions

What I'm saying is, now after that naming issue, we have things like: "Java Edition 0.0.23a_01" and "Java Edition Classic" and "Java Edition 3D Shareware v1.34" when there was NO BEDROCK EDITION VERSION NAMED THIS. The purpose of moving many pages was to prevent confusion, but now there is more confusion. I am fine with naming things like "Java Edition 1.8" to not be confused with "Bedrock Edition 1.8" or "Playstation Vita 1.8" or "4K Edition 1.8" but I mean really, certain versions were not, are not, and will never be in Bedrock Edition or any other edition. I don't know if this is the right place to put this issue (feel free to let me know if it isn't) but this is annoying and completely unofficial. And since this is the OFFICIAL Minecraft Wiki we need to be as official as we can.

Another point is consistency: while there is no "Bedrock Indev" or anything it's better to have everything have the prefix. And "Java Edition" is the official name, as opposed to the "unofficial" prefix of "bedrock edition". There would be more confusion is only some pages were prefixed as you wouldn't know what version the page belonge to at first glance. – Nixinova   01:52, 18 May 2019 (UTC)

Yeah, but this was before they called it Java Edition. Heck, this was before other versions even existed. This was when it was referred to as PC/Mac Edition. This was back in 2010. That's what I'm talking about. Plus, the only people who wouldn't know what 'Classic Minecraft' was would be the newbies. And a newbie probably wouldn't look up specific snapshots, Classic versions, etc. anyway.--AwesomeNinja886 (talk) 03:30, 18 May 2019 (UTC)

It's not shown in-game. People who play bedrock might just search for "1.11.2" or something and then be confused if they get the java page titled "1.11.2", which is what you seem to be arguing. We had a whole discussion about this a while ago. Anyway, inconsistency would be way more confusing than having "Java Edition" in the title. All the redirects still exist; anyone searching for "Alpha v1.2.6" or "Beta 1.2 will get redirected to the java page. – Nixinova   04:01, 18 May 2019 (UTC)

No, that is not what I'm arguing. I'm arguing that Classic, Indev, and Infdev versions not have the Java prefix. That's all I'm asking.--AwesomeNinja886 (talk) 12:25, 18 May 2019 (UTC)

Oh, and by the way (this is just an example) if you rename the Lightning page "zappy thingamabobber from the sky :O" and have "Lightning" redirect to it, that doesn't mean that is the official name.--AwesomeNinja886 (talk) 12:28, 18 May 2019 (UTC)

How to install versions not in client

I'm trying to install indev versions, and am wondering how exactly to install said versions of Minecraft on my computer. Definitely know things about navigation and computers, so don't eli5.

Java edition released editon rename

Currently the released editions for Minecraft are titled '** Official game, or Java Edition (November 18, 2011 – Present)'

I think this should be changed since it's not the 'official' game because Bedrock edition is a thing. It should just say 'released versions'--Morpheus836 (Greymagic27) (talk) 14:14, 14 April 2020 (UTC)

Yeah there's been a consensus for a long time that Java Edition is not considered the "official" edition. I've changed it to "Official Release" to make it clear that it's the release of the game that's official and not the edition necessarily.--Madminecrafter12 ^{(Talk to me | View what I've done)} 14:18, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
