Confirm or Dis-confirm this[edit]

If you hack mycelium and place it in a different biome then can you have Mooshroom cows spawn there? So basically do Mooshrooms require the biome or the mycelium?Theesexiestman 01:17, 29 September 2011 (UTC)

Since passive mobs can only spawn on grass, it would be extremely likely that mooshrooms spawn on mycelium. You dont need to hack anyway, just create a path from the mushroom biome to elsewhere (or destroy all grass around the mushroom biome by hoeing it) and your mycelium infection area will expand. :D --HexZyle 04:00, 29 September 2011 (UTC)
Dude, that would take days for the mycelium to spread far enough to be sure and I possibly have access to a computer that can run minecraft once a week. I tested Mycelium as much as I can, somebody else needs to test this and it would be easiest to just hack the block into a random biome because you don't have access to it in creative mode yet. Also, I did place grass in a mushroom biome and no normal mobs spawned from it, so it's uncertain if what you postulate is true with regard to the mooshrooms spawning on myceliim. thank you for responding though -its a first in like 20 comments I've made. Theesexiestman 09:22, 29 September 2011 (UTC)
Hack in a spawner. That could help confirm testing a LOT faster. A pig spawner will only spawn pigs if there is grass nearby. Try placing a pig spawner and a grass block into the mushroom biome, and then a mooshroom spawner and mycelium block into a normal biome. --HexZyle 12:21, 29 September 2011 (UTC)
I don't know how to hack in a mooshroom spawner. I just use a mod to do that but they aren't up to date bc this isn't a real version.Theesexiestman 02:30, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

Mushroom Kingdom is real[edit]

The mushroom Kingdom is real. You can find one in Seed: 598961564417890016 Coordinates: X:38 Y:64 Z:4536

Word of warning: Your gonna want to fly there. Its VERY far. So use Creative Mode.

Found by FullMetalMonkey. GMT: 20:23 22/09/2011

I know, i am a N00b but how do you show coordinates? I got a mac.

On a Mac, the key fn+F3 brings up the Debug screen to display coordinates, along with a mess of other data which may obscure those coordinates. -- 16:26, 7 December 2011 (UTC)

Mushroom Kingdom is copywritten by Nintendo Zigzagar 20:19, 23 September 2012 (UTC)

i tested this seed, and mushroom kingdom is a LIE! I used /tp, and there is just solid stone. And the world ABOVE it is a mushroom biome. It is supposed to be like that. Look here. Meeples10 10:44, 17 April 2013 (UTC)

Mushroom Kingdom is so fake. I also tested the seed, and it IS a NORMAL MUSHOOM BIOME!!!!! Enderderp572 15:51, 6 July 2013 (UTC)

I was looking through my Contribs and found this. Lol. user:Meeples10 talk ~ contribs 23:34, 24 August 2013 (UTC)

can someone confirm this?[edit]

really. seems like a spam page to me, like that ambrosium shard. 18:43, 16 September 2011 (UTC)

It does seem absolutely ridiculous, but check the sources. Oddly enough, Notch did post this. :/ Verhalthur (talk)(contribs) 18:45, 16 September 2011 (UTC)
Slightly offtopic: Actually, ambrosium shards are not completely made up, they are a material in the Aether mod. Probably someone didn't just know they shouldn't add mod content... Image:TK.gif Talk 11:55, 17 September 2011 (UTC)

Official name?[edit]

While I was editing, the name was changed to "Mushroom Cow". Notch called these "Mooshrooms" in this tweet, so should we assume that Mooshrooms is the official name? --Zeta0134 18:52, 16 September 2011 (UTC)

Yep. Verhalthur (talk)(contribs) 19:06, 16 September 2011 (UTC)

You know they wanted to make a pun of "mushroom" because it is a cow and "moo" because cows go moo so then it becomes "mooshroom" Zigzagar 23:49, 23 October 2012 (UTC)

Mooshroom is its official name. I know this because on the Spawn Egg, it clearly says "Spawn Mooshroom" Enderderp572 15:59, 6 July 2013 (UTC)

if this happens i will now die. then come back to life to play it and farm me some mooshrooms.Superninjakiwi 20:26, 16 September 2011 (UTC)

wil it be aggressive/neutral/passive[edit]

Xeoxer 10:34, 17 September 2011 (UTC)

Passive but u already know that by now prolly

Your lawn... It looks quite dead.[edit]

Anyone bothered to look past the silly cow to notice the grass looks little weird? And the 'shroom seem to grow on the "cow", maybe that's what you get by shearing? (Yeah, speculations...) Image:TK.gif Talk 11:57, 17 September 2011 (UTC)

Probably the "Mushroom Forest" biome he was talking about, as the grass looks like it has a brown mushroom in it, and there's random giant mushrooms all around the area. --CDi-Fails 15:30, 17 September 2011 (UTC)
Nice catch. :o That would seem to be something new, likely the new Mushroom Biome. I'm unsure about adding it to the biomes page, though... Verhalthur (talk)(contribs) 20:02, 17 September 2011 (UTC)

3D Render[edit]

Can anyone make a 3D render of the Mooshrooms, like for the other mobs?

What do you mean? I don't think I know how to. Enderderp572 15:51, 6 July 2013 (UTC)

Official Textures[edit]

...Where exactly did that person get it? Cool12309(T|C) 19:04, 17 September 2011 (UTC)

It was fanmade, kind of like what I did with the Stone Bricks. It doesn't seem necessary, though, as the current image is pretty much a render in itself, just not to the angle the Wiki uses. Verhalthur (talk)(contribs) 14:54, 18 September 2011 (UTC)

Why does it say it is unknown if it will be added to the game? If it's ingame and working, that should be proof.

Because technically its not really in yet, you can't get it unless you have a "special" jar. Scar7752 :3 20:59, 23 September 2011 (UTC)

A little bit of inspiration...[edit]

The way the mushrooms are blossoming out of the cow's head remind me of Ophiocordyceps, aka those creepy fungi that infest an insect's brain and essentially zombify it. Perhaps this is Notch's inspiration (if so, consider that the cow is then about to die horrifically rather than just having a cute and silly pattern). If it is his inspiration (and it's not simply a joke by him) perhaps the reference to the unsettling fungi could be made on this page, in a Trivia or Inspiration section. Thoughts? Frozenne 06:15, 21 September 2011 (UTC)

I think this is Notch's interpretation of the corruption from Terraria; the game which he previously said he'd love to snatch a few ideas from. The connection between this and real life is probably just coincidence in my opinion 09:04, 21 September 2011 (UTC)
It could be. It could also be a snatch of Terraria's mushroom patches, or of the Wheel of Time's Blight (which supposedly the Corruption takes inspiration from, and Notch has said that the Nether is based on the Ways from the same series). Or it could be inspired by something else, or nothing at all. The mushroom biome is probably a combination of ideas, but I was commenting on the Mooshrooms, not the biome. Frozenne 18:35, 13 October 2011 (UTC)

To me it sounds like it was based on the Pokémon Parasect, just look at this: Quiopz 02:26, 24 September 2011 (UTC)

If you'll notice, Paras and Parasect seem to be inspired by the Cordyceps; although there might be an inherited connection, Mooshrooms are unlikely to be solely based upon two Pokémon. Frozenne 18:35, 13 October 2011 (UTC)

Shearing Glitch[edit]

I was watching a new Gamechap video showing off the Mooshrooms, and when he shears one of them, it splits into two normal cows! I'm guessing this is a glitch, proof is here (around 1:50 in)Matimoo 22:04, 22 September 2011 (UTC)

Independent mob or not?[edit]

Is this monster just a cow with "armor" (much like creeper can have "charged" armor and sheep have "wool" armor) or does it have its own separate Entity ID? It's pretty important to me, because if they have the same ID as cows, they can't be spawned with a monster spawner. Xeoxer 18:30, 23 September 2011 (UTC)

If you create a "MushroomCow" spawner, it works, just FYI. Scar7752 :3 20:58, 23 September 2011 (UTC)

Maximum of droppings is not 4[edit]

I saw Shear droppings of 5 mushrooms! As soon i find the video again i post the source and change it to 5, or maybe anyone else can confirm this. --Wally

the proof is at 1:30 on this video: error won't allow me to post links (Minecraft 1.9 Pre-release Tour (Mushroom Biome) by paulsoaresjr)

Does anyone else find mooshrooms slightly disturbing?[edit]

Seriously? A cow with fungus growing all over it? --Trollrilla 06:18, 26 September 2011 (UTC)

Well it does occur in real life....except not to that extent on cows... more like on the insects infected with the cordyceps fungus. Plus it's not too graphic anyways. btw nice name TROLLrilla -Asterick6 05:05, 27 September 2011 (UTC)
That's exactly what it reminds me of. Also, that's just my Minecraft username. --Trollrilla 06:35, 27 September 2011 (UTC)
Reminds me of strawberry milk. lol Theesexiestman 01:15, 29 September 2011 (UTC)

Mooshroom in other biomes?[edit]

In the Minecraft Wiki about the Mooshroom it said although very rarely, a Mooshroom can spawn in another biome. I haven't seen one since, is this true?Punch trees, get wood 18:34, 31 December 2011 (UTC)

I would like to know this as well. I'd also like to know that if I were to replace mycelium in a mushroom biome with grass, would they still spawn? -- 16:35, 16 March 2012 (UTC)
I made a flatland world, deleted all entities, and replaced all grass with mycelium. Not one mooshroom has spawned there.StTheo 03:18, 4 April 2012 (UTC)

Well, I was in extreme hills, and two mooshrooms spawned 05:23, 30 November 2012 (UTC)

I don't think this is true... I have played Minecraft for as long as I can remember, and I have never seen a Mooshroom in any Biome other than the Mushroom Biome. Enderderp572 16:06, 6 July 2013 (UTC)

When I breed Cows and Mooshroms they NEVER have mooshrom babies! Even if I feed the Mooshrom first it wont work or feeding it like 20 wheat at once it still wont work!

Finally, I thought I was the only one (been trying to find some report of this problem
for a while now), I have tested every variable I could come up with and the best I got was that it
appears that if the mooshroom cow pair is anywhere near a player edited block (regardless of what
was changed) or near a baby regular cow it reduces the chances of the baby being a mooshroom to
virtually zero and even without being anywhere near a player edited block or baby regular cow it is
still extremely less than 50% chance the baby will be a mooshroom. I tested tons of variable,
height, biomes, material being stood on, height relative to cow from mooshroom (and vice verse),
amount of wheat given to the two, etc. the chances are definitely well below 50%.

Mooshroom cannot spawn on Mycelium when forced by Monster Spawner.[edit]

I have gigantic underground laboratories that research about most of object in Minecraft. I made Mooshroom lab recently, and I placed Mycelium on floor. as well as MushroomCow spawner. however, spawner did not spawned Mooshroom as I expected. I tried to replace Mycelium with Grass Block. as soon as I start my world, Mooshroom spawned there. so I don't know what the result means, I guess Mooshroom spawn on Mushroom Biome, NOT on Mycelium. Mooshroom requires Grass to spawn when forced by Monster Spawner. Kevin J Rattman 11:05, 24 February 2012 (UTC)

I'm sorry-but that's false. I too enjoy testing mobs (recently tested villagers, will be posting results on the Villager page soon.), and using a mob spawner on Mycelium, I have been able to spawn an abundant supply of Mooshrooms. And have eaten an abundant supply of mushroom based foods. On minecraft. I tried the same with Grass block, spawned it, and it just simply despawned. Just like that. Lol 18:12, 10 July 2013 (UTC)

EDIT BY SOMEONE ELSE : Mooshrooms can spawn by spawner, IF, and only if, it has daylight. 12:26, 6 May 2015 (UTC)

Cows and Mooshrooms don't bred anymore?[edit]

Well title says it all. In 1.2.5 the ability to bred them both has gone, so shall I change this? Farzydude 19:26, 15 April 2012 (UTC)

I absolutely LOVE the text about the swedish Arla cow XD I am from sweden and almost laughed my head off when i saw that... Thanks to the one who wrote it! 07:21, 9 May 2012 (UTC)hurpDurp

Superflat mooshrooms[edit]

Is there any way for mooshrooms to spawn in superflat worlds? I used the same seed for a mushroom biome in a default world making a superflat one, and no mooshrooms appeared.

Superflat worlds are entirely plains biome. You'd need spawn eggs to get a mooshroom in superflat.-- 17:25, 21 August 2012 (UTC)

Or you could customize the superflat preset to make the whole world a mushroom biome, it's all grass but mooshrooms spawn and no monsters or other mobs appear. 09:23, 6 February 2013 (UTC)

what is a baby Mooshroom called?[edit]

i want to know cause my freind thinks they might be a Calfshroom but i think he's wrong Riothegod 20:49, 7 July 2012 (UTC)

Most people just call them Mooshroom Calfs, but I guess Calfshroom is a good substitute. Enderderp572 16:07, 6 July 2013 (UTC)

They should have brown Mooshrooms[edit]

I could be like it is the same shade of brown the brown mushroom is and brown mushrooms on it Zigzagar 19:06, 22 September 2012 (UTC)

Lol, so I'm not the only person who thought of that! xD 09:25, 6 February 2013 (UTC) Lol this would be epic ---Cutie Cake I agree. If mojang goes as far as mushroom cows, at least make them both brown and red! I think that might attract some modmakers out there.*sigh* I don't know how to download mods.. --Moodyberry 19:14, 25 May 2013 (UTC)

Mooshrooms in the XBOX 360 Version[edit]

Unlike the other animals after the update which don't despawn, Mooshrooms can and will despawn if you get too far from them. Both my Mooshrooms and their baby despawned and this was after about 2 hours worth of going to the huge mushroom island and trying to get a second one to follow me without dissapearing which I thought had something to do with the minecart I kept trying to push them in. Turns out it's something more than that and I can't keep mushrooms in my farm pin.-- 07:00, 20 December 2012 (UTC)

-> This makes me sad. I have an island with Mooshrooms and I've been breeding them. I don't want them to disappear. Especially since the Mooshroom article claimed they spawn in groups of 4 - 8 and I only found 2 on the island. Siiigh. It doesn't help that the island is at the top of the map and my home area is near the bottom. I only found the island when I was opening up my map completely. Shame. I'll try to visit more so that they won't despawn.

i noticed something on here saying mooshrooms dont follow you if your holding wheat.. me and a friend got 2 back to our base using wheat......

what do mooshrooms eat?[edit]

if any one knows what to feed a mooshrooms pleas right the ansewer.

Grass as any other cow --Cutie Cake--Cutie Cake 16:22, 6 March 2013 (UTC)Cutie Cake

Learning spelling might help. Anyway, they eat grass. If you want to breed them, feed them wheat. Numbermaniac 20:53, 6 March 2013 (UTC)

Mushroom farming vs Mooshroom Farming[edit]

I am doing a project to see which one is more effective to produce mushrooms --Cutie Cake 16:24, 6 March 2013 (UTC)

How are you going to go about doing it? Numbermaniac 21:06, 6 March 2013 (UTC)

I have 3 moooshrooms and a 4 by 4 area of mushrooms so i will see what happens--Cutie Cake 14:54, 7 March 2013 (UTC)
If you're talking about breeding the mooshrooms for their red mushrooms, I'd think one bonemeal-fed giant mushroom would match several of the mooshrooms. --Mental Mouse 15:22, 7 March 2013 (UTC)

True. But the mooshrooms' moo XD.. I collect them XD more like spawn them.. --Cutie Cake 15:35, 7 March 2013 (UTC)

Interesting.... Numbermaniac 04:23, 8 March 2013 (UTC)
LOL but I think that's pretty interesting too. --Moodyberry 19:22, 25 May 2013 (UTC)

That is an interesting concept. I say you should go with mushroom farming, then Bone Meal the mushrooms you get to get even more. Enderderp572 15:55, 6 July 2013 (UTC)

Wrong info on trivia[edit]

I removed the info saying that Mooshrooms were appearing in 1.6 snapshot banners for unknown reasons. That red thing in almost every banner is actually Grumm, a Minecraft developer, not a mooshroom like it stated. --DiiegoBR 23:57, 10 July 2013 (UTC)

Real Mooshrooms[edit]

Are Mooshrooms real on planet Earth or are they just fictitious? I also wish they were like sheep, shear 'em, they eat grass, mushrooms reappear on their backs. Finally, baby Mooshrooms ought to be called Meeshrooms. I'll think about it. Can you, public, give me some ideas too. Notch and Jeb might like one that all of us agree on! Heck, they might even add that in a new update! And you contributed! –Preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk) at 03:22, 22 February 2014 (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~
