Exact Size of Faith Hemishperes?[edit]

Is the size of the hemispheres raised by Faith exactly perfect as in [1] or off slightly? I'm preconstructing a T4 (total diameter 23, right? 12 radius but counting the center twice.) sized area on the ground to float later, and I really don't want it messed up by unforeseeable code inaccuracies.Jigokuro 16:29, 25 September 2011 (UTC)

The code uses a quick distance comparison of the format (x*x)+(y*y)+(z*z) < (rd+0.5)*(rd+0.5) to determine if a block is within the sphere's radius. It's quite possible that rounding errors from int/float will have made it in, I know that Voxel Sniper's spheres and Runecraft's done line up exactly.
current radii are 4, 6, 8, 11, 12, 13, 23 (RC 2.15). Diameters are (2*radius)+1 Ctri 13:58, 8 February 2013 (UTC)

Secret Door/Hallway Recipes[edit]

This is not my page to edit, so I'm not going to do it myself, but will the secret door and secret hallway runes be added? We're using them on our server and they're loads of fun. (null).exe 17:35, 28 September 2010 (UTC)

What do you mean? There's a hidden door rune that's been listed here for some time now. -- Dagmar d'Surreal 21:13, 3 October 2010 (UTC)

Overly Large Pictures[edit]

These huge butt pictures are making the page a real pain to read. Could someone with experience put them back to a normal size. Awolfers 00:56, 28 September 2010 (UTC) I can do that, but I need to know how small to make them.

I think it might be best to turn the images into the small icons used on the Crafting page. - JC 01:00, 28 September 2010 (UTC)

Alright, I've reasearched wikipedia image code, so I'm working on making the images 50px instead of huge.Awolfers 01:40, 28 September 2010 (UTC)

Policy on Spoilers?[edit]

I notice there's some edit waring over if 3 so called "secret" runes should have their patterns posted here, can we discuss it like civilized people in here instead of edit waring back and forth?

Make sure everyone signs their comments; This can be done with four ~'s. As far as my two cents goes: This wiki doesn't care about spoilers. Every single recipe in Minecraft is listed, even though many players would rather figure them out for themselves. It's expected to see that kind of information here. Likewise, Runecraft, one of the most popular mods for Minecraft, has its secrets divulged here, too. I think it's exactly appropriate to have the spoiled runes listed here as well. Perhaps put them in a different section, titled "Secret Runes" explaining that they're meant to be kept secret and thus it's encouraged that players figure them out for themselves? But then go on to explain them anyway. That way players that want to respect that can do so, and others don't have to. After all, it's pretty easy to figure it out if you ask around, anyway, I'm sure. JC 23:00, 27 September 2010 (UTC)
I've been hit very hard by this and it's forced me to reconsider much of my reasons for starting this whole project. I've decided to keep working on it and stop policing spoilers. People can go ahead and list them, though I'd really prefer if you did it in a separate section. I must add that I'm in an extremely bad mood now because of this, but I guess even trolls have a right to know everything. I officially allow people to ruin the secrets. SuperLlama 23:03, 27 September 2010 (UTC)
I'm a big fan of open information, and I find the idea of policing such secrets somewhat absurd, to be honest. I like the idea of figuring things out for oneself, but I also like being able to look things up if I get stumped; this hardly makes me a troll. A better way to safeguard the more powerful runes would be to give players the ability to gain rune levels, such that the strength of their runes increases the more runes they make and use throughout the game. Thus, players would have to build up a lot in order to use a Solar Flare Rune, or a Faith Rune, since even if they tried to make it, if they weren't powerful enough, it would simply fail. Or, you could make it so that attempting to use such a rune would cause alerts to be given to each admin player online, and the rune would take a full minute or two to actually activate, giving an admin a moment to investigate the circumstances of its use - and if it's being used for griefing, to have a chance to simply break the rune, ruining the effect. I'm not sure if these ideas could or would be implemented at this time, but it's far more secure to do things this way than to try to police it by secrets alone. :) JC 23:10, 27 September 2010 (UTC)
If it makes you feel better, you were very mature with your response. If I find time tonight I will make sure to make a separate page for secret/dangerous ruins. Hope the project keeps going strong. It's both creative, fun and overall awesome. Moxxy 23:13, 27 September 2010 (UTC)
For now, I'll at least, I'll go move the secret runes to a new section. Anyone who edits them out will be directed to this discussion. Twilightdusk 23:15, 27 September 2010 (UTC)
Move completed. Twilightdusk 23:23, 27 September 2010 (UTC)
Sorry for spoiling it, I thought it was a challenge to figure out, and I posted the picture of it to prove I did it first, I guess I don't win a prize :( 3CXL 00:53, 30 September 2010 (UTC)

It's been like 6 hours and mound is already cracked lol.

Please remove that, unlike the templates this is actually my source code and I have a right to ask you to remove it from this page. I mean it's not like anyone checks it, but meh, if they want it they can decompile it themselves. I'm not going to start a war by doing it myself, but I'll kindly ask anyone brave enough or the poster hismelf to remove it... SuperLlama 13:01, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
Hey SuperLlama, I cant figure out what this part does: public static final int WHAT_ARE_YOU_DOING_IN_HERE_YOU_HAXOR = 1337; Feel free to remove it if you want, I wont start an edit war. Also, can we get more useful runes, like a solar flare that destroys all of a certain type of block above it, it would be nice for removing lava towers and diamond towers. How about a Faith upside down rune to undo Faith I could probably code one up for you.3CXL
On the other hand, neither the Secret Panel rune nor the Flood Gate rune have been posted here. It's funny how SuperLlama's policy on making runes less secret actually made them safer. ^^ Lim-Dul 18:04, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
I wouldn't go that far, Lim. I only bother pulling the ones out I actually use / don't suck. Leben 19:31, 3 October 2010 (ETC)

Tidyin' Up[edit]

Well, I've been messing with a server that has this so I'm starting to become more familiar with it's ins and outs. I'll be cleaning up more sections as I go along. It appears that "stacking/linking" secret doors may not currently work with 2.0. Teleport/waypoint pads are also INCREDIBLY FINICKY about what you can do to them and when, to the point of being extremely frustrating at times if you have created the two very far apart from one another. I'll figure out a way to express that in the relevant section after I've had a chance to fully explore exactly how and when you can break the things while you're building them. -- Dagmar d'Surreal 05:06, 3 October 2010 (UTC)

Usage on Topsy Turvy[edit]

Tried testing topsy turvy and the console came back with "The time is not right for this kind of magic..."

Is this the error message supplied when it's been disabled by admin, or is there a particular time of day that you must use it? I've played around with the chrono and can't find a right time of day. Pinkbits 08:45, 4 October 2010 (UTC)

Managed to get it working with iron as the ink. Haven't tried other materials yet.

The Secret Panel rune is incorrect.[edit]

Someone please update it. Awolfers 22:23, 5 October 2010 (UTC)

It's not. works on my server. Are you right clicking the centre after you place the rune with item you want toggled?

Actually I believe it is supposed to be iron ore instead of RS dust, that is how it works on my server...

Logging onto my account here for the first time just to confirm that the above line is correct. It's iron ore, not redstone dust. I'll try and figure out how to correct that on the wiki page- please bear with me, I rarely edit wiki articles.

Hidden Door doesn't work correctly on floors[edit]

Using it at the top of my structure, to create an trapdoor escape route. It appears that, contrary to how it behaves on walls, where you can rightclick any part of the rune, and two gaps appear, the horizontal version only allows you to rightclick the Keystone to activate it, and only opens a single gap wide, then. Problematic. Jwguy 18:22, 9 November 2010 (UTC)

I think it just works differently on floors, more like a trapdoor than a door, which is why it's only one square. Insanity 07:00, 8 May 2011 (UTC)

Really need to find a way to split this page up a bit, it's huge. –ultradude25 (T|C) 04:12, 11 November 2010 (UTC)

Oh darn it, I added a new section on the idea without noticing this one. XD Vidios 21:51, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

Tier Block Marker[edit]

I know that by default Cobblestone is treated as a Tier. but with more complicated runes coming, and one already in existance that uses cobble, and a tiered block, do you think we should use another picture to mark the Tiers? Maybe like, a Cobblestone from a custom skin, or something that's semi transparent or something...

I agree with you and I think command block would be a good new image since it wont ever become available in survival without hacking and also because it's what "commands" the rune power. Amuxix 03:47, 20 November 2012 (UTC)

Runecraft Guide[edit]

I would suggest this be moved to the bottom of the page as a forum link, rather than so prominently placed with their logo splashed across the page. While it's nice to support outside sources and reference the forums, the primary focus should be on the content contained here. (my bad, didn't realize it was the forum at first) -- Wynthyst User Wynthyst sig icon.png talk 08:05, 5 December 2010 (CST)

New here, just starting to try to help clean the Runecraft wiki since I installed v2.3. I agree with Wynthyst on moving the link. If something changes in the mod, it should be changed here as well, and outside info linked as sources. Just my 2 cents. LabGecko talk 05:56, 20 December 2010 (UTC)

Depth Note Description[edit]

"Is used to establish the depth of the block stack it is applied to. Useful for finding empty caverns, or avoiding digging into empty space. Has total of 9 uses. Equip paper and right click in the center to activate."

I can't seem to edit it properly. It keeps adding all sorts of superfluous junk at the end of my paragraph. –The preceding unsigned comment was added by Scottthemedic (Talk|Contribs) 01:38, 13 December 2010. Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

What browser are you using? Someone had this problem before. –ultradude25 (T|C) at 19:36, 12 December 2010 (CST)
Well, I took care of it, with a few edits... -Vidios 21:41, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

Phase Block Signature[edit]

Actually the signature does have an effect. It has to do with building two phased objects directly next to each other. SuperLlama 17:55, 27 December 2010 (UTC)

Error on Recall information[edit]

The description for Recall rune states following:

Tool: Any item that does not stack.
Uses: Single use.

There's an exception to this. Books can be used as the tool and they provide five uses per rune.
Masentaa 03:05, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

Huh, that wasn't on the page before? Man, I took that whole book thing for granted. I fixed that whole section now. -Vidios 21:47, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

Split this page?[edit]

Folks, this page has reached an absolutely massive vertical height, and the Wiki editor hates the fact that "This page is 83 kilobytes long." This page is #1 on the long pages list! So, I propose that the tool runes, armor runes, and secret runes be split into their own independent pages for navigation's sake, and so the Wiki stops crying about its length. Perhaps we should slap a Move/Split template to the top of this page... Vidios 21:26, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

Fire Pick Template is incorrect[edit]

The template and uses are both incorrect. The redstone torch in the center is supposed to be a tier block. The uses is = to tier * 4. --SkyKoli 09:48, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

Magic Beacon Tier usage[edit]

So with a bit of quick testing I found that the tier block used affects the height of the beacon, higher tier = higher beacon, didn't test the height though, so someone who's a bit better at making everything look all nice and professional in terms of wording and someone less lazy than me can test the heights in terms of tier and can write up that part.

Force Field[edit]

I tried it on my server and it worked so I changed the unconfirmed status to confirmed. --Cuulcars Also, I added the item it lets people through with.

Secret panel on floor key?[edit]

Where would you place the key for a secret panel/door that's on the floor? I've tried everywhere, and just can't get it to work, I have to make one without a key. Insanity 06:54, 8 May 2011 (UTC)

Using Bedrock as Tier at bottom level?[edit]

If you find bedrock at the bottom level in a correct configuration so that you may set up Powerpick, for example, can you use it for the craft? And does the bedrock disappear after you do?

Actually, I tried. It's very hard to find a proper place, and I tried it with the personal tp rune and it told me that I can't channel thrugh this block (or something like that). But there are maybe other problems, have to be tested on a server where I have op (and thus get bedrock). Johannes 13 12:58, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
Yes, you can use bedrock as signature/ tier blocks for your runes if you can find it in the right shape. When I made bedrock phaseblocks rune, the signature and iron disappeared, but the bedrock circle didn't disappear Ctri 05:42, 20 October 2011 (UTC)

Altering tiers?[edit]

Is it possible to modify any of the tiers? Like increasing all of the tier's by 2 or something similar. I've tried to look into it a little but have had no luck personally.

re: Altering Tiers[edit]

Right now, I dont know a way to change the tiers but it had/has been discussed multiple times and i bet they will add a way to edit tiers in the next 1-2 versions.

Separate Power Axe Rune[edit]

Given that the Power Axe behaves differently than pick and shovel runes, should it be listed as a separate rune? I just added a note to distinguish the two different behaviors. Josiah42

Could the page not be broken up into a dozen sub pages.[edit]

I find one page to be much easier to navigate and hate loading so many tabs to find all the information i need. It was nice the way it was, i used it daily and find the new layout intensely annoying.

another guy: viewing from tablet and computer, some runes are not displayed correctly,i would also like the previous navigation

Breaking up the page didn't work as well as hoped.[edit]

It's still massive. 40K instead of 80K isn't a huge improvement.

Also, the newer (smaller) rune layouts aren't as much nicer as I'd hoped. Changing the text size will help if they're not displayed correctly, but a still better yet solution is needed.

There are several different things needed:

  1. A (fairly) massive rune layout grimore that shows, in a some sort of compact form, the layout of each rune. Doesn't need lots of details, can hyperlink to sub-pages instead. Each of these involves re-doing the layouts again. Possiblities include:
    1. Current "crafting grid" style layouts
    2. Screen captures of actual runes
    3. Current layouts (either crafting grid style or original style) screencap'd and compressed into a smaller (and importantly non-reflowable) picture.
    4. ASCII art
    5. Emoticon layouts
    6. Something else I haven't though of yet.
  2. An overview for admins. Permissions, disabled-runes.txt, version information, config.yml, and a brief "why you want this on your server" blurb.
  3. Detailed discussion of individual runes. I think every rune should have it's own notes page? Please discuss.

Point 3 Is where I'm stuck. There is currently lots of information which is needed, but doesn't belong in a "quick layout" section. How to make it accessible? Jgilmore 20:39, 4 May 2012 (UTC)

Maybe you should consider animating some of the grids, instead of having top/bottom/etc. sections separate? Since the 21st of June, modding and animation is fully supported by all grid templates. Read the documentation for how it's used.
Additionally, if it's page length and not page size you're worried about in respect to point 3, you could use collapsible tables to hide that information so people can expand sections as they want them. ultradude25 (T|C) at 15:01, 30 June 2012 (UTC)

True Name[edit]

I spent forever looking for how to get the True Name rune to work. I remembered it from a while back, but I went to use it today and couldn't find it here. I had to dig through C'tri's videos to find it. Is it not on here for a reason, or was it just missed?Ace_Case (talk) 05:07, 28 July 2014 (UTC)
