Homepage[edit]

as soon as it is released, could we get it up on the homepage? –Preceding unsigned comment was added by 66.30.253.244 (Talk) 00:24, 12 January 2012‎ (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

I'd like to note that there was another "unofficial" ingame Minecon in 2010. It was mentioned on the forums before curse took over and now I can't find any information. I have managed to salvage one image though. http://i.imgur.com/f6ydC.png That's me on the right of Notch. Roadcrosser 10:18, 7 November 2012 (UTC)

I found a Video recorded during Minecon 2010 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIyOXMo0sFQ
But Nothing else yet. Will keep looking.

In-game section[edit]

There's been a fair amount of edit warring over this section, with references to various events and people alternately added and removed. Given that none of these events were official or endorsed by Mojang, should they even be in the article at all? -- Orthotope talk 03:57, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

I was fine with the one activity that Marc Watson supposedly attended, but it was still unfair to the "competitors" if we allowed that one listed but not the others. I do agree that this sort of thing would fall under our policy of not documenting the community, but I sort of stayed out of it. Kanegasi C 05:25, 22 May 2013 (UTC)
I think if mojang mentions it or a mojang member logs on to one it should be, other wise it should not be. Like "Minecon 2010" Notch logged on so it is mentioned.--007a83 (Talk|Contribs) 07:12, 17 June 2013 (UTC)

MINECON 2013[edit]

I am wondering how big ofmy chances of getting two minecon tickets will be?–Preceding unsigned comment was added by Hawkeyeluna (talkcontribs) 21:42, 4 July 2013 (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

Since this year's Minecon will be hosting 7,000 people, your chances are a wee-bit higher... (Plus, you forgot to sign with ~~~~!) Pikachu4170 23:14, 24 July 2013 (UTC)

Minecon 2013 website currently in construction + References needed[edit]

I checked that the Minecon 2013 will be on the same website (minecon.mojang.com), and is currently in construction.

Also, the site has a secure signature of GeoTrust Extended Validation SSL CA, which will expire on August 1st, 2014.

In the meantime, the 2013 section of the page requires more references (Source links).

UPDATE!: Read next topic.

Minecon 2k13 youtube vids private!?[edit]

Any idea why the embedded youtube vids of minecon are private?

More specifically, is anyone able to fix that? --GufNZ (c: (talk) 03:21, 5 November 2013 (UTC)

They where made private after the event. There are Twitch links. We should embed the twitch streams. But I don't think you can.--007a83 Talk | Contribs 05:01, 4 April 2015 (UTC)

All years to have own pages[edit]

This page is massive, and nearly impossible to load. MineCon 2016 has 47 sub-sections! I think we should have a separate MineCon 2010, MineCon 2011, etc. Thoughts? — Nixinova (talk|edits)

The reason it takes so long to load (and for the excessive number of subsections) is because of the dozens of embedded YouTube videos. Mojang have created playlists for the 2013 and 2015 MineCon videos, which are linked from here in lieu of embedding the videos directly, and it would be ideal if someone could ask them to create playlists for the other years as well (though in the meantime, we should look at alternate ways of presenting the videos - at the very least, they should be presented in a gallery layout instead of each video having its own section). Regardless of that, though, I would support the page beng split by year as well. ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 20:50, 6 May 2017 (UTC)
Whew, that took a while. I have split them up into their own years:

Capitalization to MINECON[edit]

I propose changing the name from "MineCon" to "MINECON" as Mojang themselves has started using the capitalized version of the name since 2012. This also matches up to the logo. The old format is long not used by many.--skylord_wars (talk) 02:04, 23 July 2018 (UTC)

Support Sounds like a good idea for me. 194.251.16.61 05:00, 23 July 2018 (UTC)
Support I think it is the right choice, seems to be more accurate... Iludido (talk) 15:46, 23 July 2018 (UTC)

Logos don't really matter (Minecraft logo is all caps), nor does Mojang capitalization. The game capitalizes a lot of stuff we don't capitalize, the wiki has always followed their own style regarding capitalization. I don't specifically disagree, I don't care enough about this to disagree. But I just wanted to bring these points up since everyone just seems to agree without adding any additional reasons I can agree with. --Pepijn (talk) 18:14, 23 July 2018 (UTC)
Question are there no counterexamples between 2012 and the present, where some official material has called it MineCon? I find it personally hard to believe they'd made a complete switch so long ago, but maybe I just missed it. If the change is as complete as you say, then I support. – Sealbudsman talk | contribs 01:09, 25 July 2018 (UTC)
The one for 2013 is a complete change. As seen in this post, Mojang already used the term "MINECON". So the change started in 2012. Though for consistencies for the wiki, we should change 2011 too. skylord_wars (talk) 02:58, 26 July 2018 (UTC)
Okay, sounds good to me!  Support. – Sealbudsman talk | contribs 11:26, 26 July 2018 (UTC)
I assume this would mean each individual year page would be moved as well (e.g., MINECON 2012), as well as the MineCon Earth pages (e.g. MINECON Earth 2013)?-- Madminecrafter12Orange Glazed Terracotta.pngTalk to meLight Blue Glazed Terracotta.png 14:03, 3 August 2018 (UTC)
Yep. 46.132.190.56 04:50, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
Yes. By the way, there is no such thing called MineCon Earth. Mojang never used that named before. I am assuming that we would have enough support to move the pages. skylord_wars (talk) 07:40, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
Moved, as seen from the title of the page. Now the articles will just need to be updated. Let me know if I missed any pages - I just moved pages based on whether they had the MineCon prefix, so it's entirely possible that I missed some.-- Madminecrafter12Orange Glazed Terracotta.pngTalk to meLight Blue Glazed Terracotta.png 14:45, 7 August 2018 (UTC)
