Talk:Java Edition server software

Deletion[edit]

None of them have any claims of notability and are just added willy-nilly. Most of them are stubs and/or orphans and many contain blatand advertising. They require a lot of maintenance even though they haven't been relevant for almost a decade now. Unmaintainable pages which include installing programs is a recipe for disaster when anyone can edit (virus alert). These pages have nothing to do with Mojang (see the disclaimer) nor with modern versions of Minecraft itself. When all the advertising is removed there's no content left on the pages, that's how bad they are. Stuff like this does not belong on the wiki. – Nixinova Nixinova sig1.png Nixinova sig2.png 22:22, 24 January 2019 (UTC)

I'd also agree with deleting these (or possibly migrating them to the FTB wiki, since they're custom third-party software). None of these bring any valuable information to the wiki from what I can see. - User-12316399 (talk) 11:27, 13 March 2019 (UTC)
Although the list is incomplete, this page was useful to me. I was looking for a spigot/forge hybrid. Where else would I find such a list? I think you're looking at this from the point of view of someone who is already up to date about all this server business and not from the point of view of someone who is new to it or has been out of the loop for a while. Instead of saying that the page is useless and should be deleted, maybe it should be made to be more useful instead. 104.163.200.138 02:10, 14 October 2020 (UTC)

I've made the Java Edition server software match the Bedrock Edition server software. I do agree we should remove all the JESS/[stuff] pages, as Bedrock doesn't have them themselves. I've only added the main, notable versions. This page should stay to match Bedrock's. --Chewsterchew2001 (talk) 19:38, 30 June 2020 (UTC)Chewsterchew2001

Instead of deleting this, should we just migrate these main pages (Java and Bedrock) to the mcservers wiki as well? Should be a quick process, since markus already has import permissions on said wiki. - User-12316399 (talk) 06:12, 1 December 2020 (UTC)

will versions in other languages also be moved?--Eduaddad (talk) pt.Wiki Administrator 14:47, 10 December 2020 (UTC)

This and all subpages have been exported to mcservers: and are now pending deletion with a soft redirect on them.  Nixinova T  C   23:12, 15 December 2020 (UTC)
