Creative should not redirect to Classic.[edit]

"Classic" refers to a now outdated version of Creative mode, and Creative refers to an as-of-yet unreleased version that will be based off of /game/.

indev is also outdated
LETS DELETE IT. ALL OUTDATED STUFF IS BAD! Kizzycocoa 19:36, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
Nice troll... No, I believe minecraft classic isn't bad. --Demki 20:31, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
I though about how this should be re-arranged today, and came up with these five articles that should be kept updated:
  • Survival
  • Classic (also known as Creative, for now)
  • Indev
  • Infdev
  • Beta
Creative is currently named 'Classic' on the official site, so that's how it should be. --Philcsf 20:55, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

no, we should NOT delete it, because then kids like me without email would be forever LOCKED out of Minecraft, you jerkwad :(

if anyone agrees, please post your edits here!

Hi 02:00, 10 May 2020 (UTC)

Is the "Advantages of Pre-Purchasing" Section needed?[edit]

It has nothing to do with creative mode and it really sounds like a sales pitch and I don't think it's needed. Does anybody else wish to pitch in on this? Postronicman 06:06, 31 October 2010 (UTC)

I created that section. It was meant to be "Advantages TO Classic after pre-purchasing", so the ability to play Alpha is irrelevant. I've fixed it now. --Scykei 06:11, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
Is "Players have infinite blocks for creating large structures, but there are no crafting items like sticks, boats, and minecarts." an avantage of Pre-Purchasing? Chrunchstick 14:11, 29 March 2011 (UTC)

Better Classic screenshot?[edit]

In the same way for Alpha screenshot, the screenshot of Classic don't represent the gameplay of classic game mode. I think it should be changed. --DjDCH 20:00, 31 October 2010 (UTC)

What is this? I dont even...[edit]

Someone put a bunch of stuff under trivia, which some of it is wrong, some is irrelevant, and some is just plain ???. Am I the only one that sees this?

--- The previous message is an unsigned comment

Yes, it is likely a vandalism. However this wiki is weird so I don't even know how to report vandalism.--Ha3 22:33, 19 January 2011 (UTC) Sounds like luck the Community Portal has just been modified and it has an admin noticeboard link in it.--Ha3 22:44, 19 January 2011 (UTC)

Jar Files?[edit]

In the trivia section it says there were unused mob files. Can anyone specify/show what they were? I'm curious. --Captain_Clam 01:58, 13 October 2011 (UTC)

Saving Bug?[edit]

What happened to the line about the bug that says that saving and loading are not functional? Perhaps it's just me, since I haven't purchased the Beta, but I am also not able to save or load Classic maps stored on my computer. I would like to request that somebody find out whether or not people who have purchased the Beta can save and load Classic maps stored on their computer. If so, then it's probably a premium feature and should be listed as such. If not, then that bug line should be reinstated. 21:33, 21 October 2011 (UTC)

I have purchased the game and I can't load or save files either, so yeah it's a bug. Felix20 15:44, 7 January 2012 (UTC)

yeah, Notch removed it so he could "phase out" Classic, which is a bunch of cr-- that should be STOPPED IMMEDIATELY!

and if you want to save, play on a server!

Lord Mikay 04:29, 10 September 2012 (UTC)

Classic Sound will never be back?[edit]

since 1.8 came out classic lost its resource files. I don't know if they will be replanted in classic or not.

Java 7 breaks multiplayer in classic?[edit]

I installed latest Java 7, premium worked just fine, but trying to enter classic server caused "server is down?" error.

Googling this showed that everyone had problems with running classic multiplayer.

It has something with IPv4 broken in Java 7 17:01, 16 June 2012 (UTC)

Is it safe to play on the website?[edit]

I'd like to play browser version of minecraft but the application's digital signature has an error. Can anyone please tell me if it is safe to play as I'd like to know why people say the game is addictive? -- 17:07, 15 July 2012 (UTC)

Playing on is safe. Since you're getting a digital signature error, you're probably trying to play an illegally cracked version, which may or may not be safe; there's no way to tell. -- Orthotope 18:58, 15 July 2012 (UTC)

Wait. So the version is illegally cracked? That's where i'm trying to play minecraft.-- 10:57, 16 July 2012 (UTC)

Strange... I usually don't play the in-browser version, but it wasn't giving me a certificate warning the last time I tried it. -- Orthotope 17:50, 16 July 2012 (UTC)

Would google chrome contribute to my problem? Because my internet browser is google chrome.-- 11:47, 19 July 2012 (UTC)

Oh one more thing : the error is the certificate for the digital signature has expired.Does that mean i can't play it?-- 12:02, 21 July 2012 (UTC)

  • It is fine to play, you get this issue with classic because Mojang didn't bother to update the certificate. Just say yes to all the things. Pokechu22 19:28, 1 October 2012 (UTC)

how do i get on mine craft classic multiplayer?[edit]

i really want to play multiplayer on minecraft classic but i dont know how can any one help?!

To get on Classic Multiplayer, go to: If it doesn't work, downgrade java to Java 6. -- 21:38, 14 April 2014 (UTC)

Easier said than done; downloading older Java versions (such as JSE 6) requires you make an account with Oracle, for some reason. This requires an e-mail, phone number and address. It seems that unless you are willing to reveal this information, you will be stuck. - 12:14, 16 August 2014 (UTC)

Classic is removed now[edit]

Minecraft Classic isn't playable anymore. They've removed it...:

New to Minecraft?
Minecraft Classic is a several years old version of Minecraft and is no longer supported, nor is it being worked on.
If you want to have a go at the real thing you should try the free Minecraft demo.

--MinecraftMuffin 21:17, 21 September 2012 (UTC)

EDIT: Forget what I said. It's still there. But only if you use the direct link. Look classic article for more information --MinecraftMuffin 21:46, 21 September 2012 (UTC)

--Guest 22:22 , 11 November 2012 (UTC)

EDIT 2: Minecraft's site put the links back but, you have to click "Minecraft Classic" in the message "Looking for Minecraft Classic?" Then once you get to the page go down until you see this message "I want to play the old Minecraft Classic: singleplayer | multiplayer" on that message either click "singleplayer" or "multiplayer". Enjoy! --Guest 22:22, 11 November 2012 (UTC)

It dosent work for me, it has a different loading screen and says; Fatal error occured (5). A device attached to the system is not functioning. No one else seems to have this isssue yet. let me know if you have it cuz i want to play on ablocz agian. Louise4589TheEpic 12:16, 13 December 2012 (UTC)

I don't think there should be a section where it states the advantages of buying the game. Then the article would kinda not be very neutral. In this case, I recommend removing it since some people, like I do sometimes, like Classic better than the paid version. Plus, it would make a newbie think that the wiki is written by the same dudes who made the game, although as we know it's not. 23:46, 22 December 2012 (UTC)

Add link to Minecraft Demo in the "See Also" section?[edit]

I think that there should be a link to the Minecraft demo page ( in the "See Also" section as it is another version of Minecraft like all the other links and it is similar to Minecraft Classic as it is also free. Christopherbikie 09:26, 1 June 2013 (UTC)

Pre Classic[edit]

I edited the it was the first development stage in minecraft. Thats incorrect because pre classic was the first development stage of minecraft. However Classic was the first stage that was relased to public. -- 17:41, 25 August 2013 (UTC)

I Can't play minecraft Classic! When it says "switching applet" it freezes. Please help!Aleksi2000 (talk) 19:36, 17 November 2013 (UTC)

Plus it started when i updated Java 16:33, 21 November 2013 (UTC)

Im having bugs with the classic starter. It freezes when it goes to switching applet and I have no info to solve the problem! Help please! --Herp Derp (talk) 23:19, 19 December 2013 (UTC)

Mention ClassiCube in Classic page[edit]

I would like to request a few words about Classicube in the Classic wiki page.

Players would benefit knowing the reincarnation of Classic, I know ClassiCube is not strictly related to Minecraft, but it improves Classic and makes it useful again, contrary to what the following statement says about it: "It later became completely obsolete when Creative was added to Beta in 1.8." Classicube offers certain advantages over Creative Mode in Minecraft full, which are:

  1. Better movement options: Fly, Noclip, bindable commands.
  2. Server software offer flexibility and commands better than even modern plugins (see Classic fCraft/LegendCraft vs. MC plugin WorldEdit).
  3. More blocks than creative, some of which are unique to CC.
  4. CPE, an extension to classic, that allows a ton of new features, like skins etc.

This isn't meant to be an advertisement to CC, but only as a request of pointing potential Classic players towards an useful improvement. Thanks for understanding and thanks for your time. –Preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk) at 21:34, 17 January 2015 (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

We don't document fan-made software in articles about Mojang's products. -- Orthotopetalk 21:42, 17 January 2015 (UTC)
Now that real Classic is gone, it would be useful to have at least a one-sentence note about ClassiCube, so people know there is still a full version of classic available for them to play, either if they never got a chance to play it while it was up, or if they want to play it. The version on the website is not a full clone of classic, probably isn't even based off original classic, does not offer the original server structure, and you can not host servers on it with original classic server software. It isn't even really necessary to mention any of the new features. 23:44, 30 August 2019 (UTC)
As an additional note, I would like to mention that TNT Wars, Lava Survival, Zombie Survival, and Capture the flag are all still available to play in CC, and many of the servers in CC were in original classic before it was removed. 23:49, 30 August 2019 (UTC)

Keep this page for historical purpose?[edit]

This page refers to an outdated game mode. My idea is to keep it for historical purpose and add link to it on page for removed features.

--Redcreator37 (talk) 13:28, 1 April 2017 (UTC)

No one is proposing it should be deleted, and any such proposal would be immediately reverted. Classic is a part of Minecraft history, and the article isn't going anywhere. ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 16:05, 1 April 2017 (UTC)

"Minecraft Classic 0.0.14a_01"[edit]

When searching the title above on Google, there was two links I found out of the bunch that has a list of Minecraft versions dating all the way back to Pre-Classic/Classic. Searching for it also gave search results on about how to find Gold Ore and gave others on that Gold Ore, Iron Ore and Coal Ore was added into the game in that version; suggesting those 3 ores were added into the game with that specific version, unless I'm wrong. Not saying that this should be a reliable source, although I kinda am, just found something interesting via the Google search engine. Link 1 Link 2 --Whatausername64 (talk) 19:53, 27 April 2018 (UTC)

I pretty sure most websites just steal from this wiki but if you can be sure that they didn't just take the versions directly from here (and instead looked through jar files or something) then that should be fine. (also "via the Google search engine" can be just "on google" lol)Nixinova Book and Quill JE2 BE2.png Diamond Pickaxe JE3 BE3.png Map (item) JE2 BE2.png 20:19, 27 April 2018 (UTC)
