1.8 development versions[edit]

Hi BDJP007301, what is the intended use of "From the 1.8 development versions"? I see you putting that sometimes and I haven't gotten the hang of it yet. – Sealbudsman talk/contr 19:12, 2 December 2015 (UTC)

You may have seen these before on 1.8. I usually put them in because the root version shows a 1.8 development version with no other "released versions before", or it could just be put as "user forgets to update the report so it is closed as awaiting response and not updated until over a year later to confirm its still happening in a 1.9 development version." Definitely the latter. -BDJP (t|c) 19:16, 2 December 2015 (UTC)
Oooohh. Although those (MC-62552, MC-70306) look like they have 1.9 development versions in their 'affects' lists – maybe I'm still not getting it? – Sealbudsman talk/contr 19:19, 2 December 2015 (UTC)
Maybe I'm not either. -BDJP (t|c) 19:21, 2 December 2015 (UTC)
Hah. Oh I thought maybe you were onto something new. – Sealbudsman talk/contr 19:28, 2 December 2015 (UTC)
So are you adding "From the 1.8 development versions" here mostly because those sections were in the 1.8 snapshots? – Sealbudsman talk/contr 19:45, 2 December 2015 (UTC)
Definitely yes. -BDJP (t|c) 20:37, 2 December 2015 (UTC)
Ah. The thing is, "From the 1.8 development versions" was really the catch-all category, in the context of 1.8 snapshots. I am not sure it fits in a 1.9 snapshot... where "From the 1.9 development versions" is the catch-all.
Here's what I mean. So when I set up the 3 categories originally, I meant it to follow a logic in this order:
  • If it's "people who don't play snapshots, and only play releases, would still have seen this bug", it's old. This is for a certain category of people, so they can pay attention to this section, and just ignore the next two. Also we all kind of want to know which ones were the bugs that were bothering us up through 1.8.x.
  • If it's "this bug didn't occur until the very last snapshot", it's previous. This is mostly an interesting category for 'b' snapshots, since they usually release 'b' especially to fix lots of 'previous' bugs.
  • Otherwise, it's dev. The catch-all. Which chronologically goes in the middle, it so happens.
I don't know if this sheds any light on it... But my opinion is, "From the 1.8 development versions" doesn't fit well in the 1.9 snapshots, unless a clearly understood and useful category is being made. – Sealbudsman talk/contr 21:22, 2 December 2015 (UTC)

New Debug[edit]

I would like to know how to show that new debug screen. Honestly, I think it is ctrl+F3, since shift+F3 and alt+F3 are taken, and ctrl is the last command key. Just an idea. Fyreboy5 (talk) 13:59, 7 December 2015 (UTC)

It's a developer-only debug mode; it is not available to us. See here. Skylinerw (talk) 14:09, 7 December 2015 (UTC)
But there is a possibility that it could be available to us in the future. If it would, I think you'd activate it with ctrl+F3. It might, it might not. Fyreboy5 (talk) 15:07, 7 December 2015 (UTC)
