Where it's most common[]

Are you guys sure about those levels 47 and 48? Because I've been stripmining at those levels and there's like none. But there's a reasonable amount at around levels 51-54. GMRE (talk) 12:24, 12 June 2021 (UTC)

I had a related question, for an existing game (started in 1.16 and now is 1.17) will it generate in only new chunks or will it generated in existing ones too? I haven't been able to find any copper at levels 47-48, I'm going to try 51-54 now ... Legolas Elf (talk) 07:50, 13 June 2021 (UTC)
It does not appear in previously existing chunks. I also have an older world. Conveniently, I have a system of tunnels in the nether, so it was easy to make an additional portal that took me to a new area. Otherwise you'll have to travel over the horizon to set up a copper mine. GMRE (talk) 11:49, 13 June 2021 (UTC)
Thanks. I'll look to do something similar! Legolas Elf (talk) 12:38, 13 June 2021 (UTC)

Usage section needs rephrasing[]

The introductory phrase used in the Usage section of this article on copper, "the primary usage of [copper ore]", implies there are secondary and other n-ary usages of Copper ore.

If the ONLY usage of copper ore is to smelt into copper ingots it should be rephrased to "Copper ore is used to smelt copper ingots." – Unsigned comment added by 174.0.57.221 (talk) at 18:43, 16 July 2022‎ (UTC). Sign comments with ~~~~

Good catch. I have revised that paragraph. Amatulic (talk) 00:21, 17 July 2022 (UTC)

Ore generation is wrong[]

This sentence should be changed: "In Java Edition, copper ore tries to generate 6 times per chunk in groups from 0 to 16, in layers 0 to 96." The Ore#Overworld page is correct, and i checked into the code itself while i was making a mod. Copper ore generates from -16 to 112, NOT 0 to 96. Please correct. "being most common in layers 47 and 48 and less common at the ends" is correct.

Fixed. Thanks. Amatulic (talk) 18:41, 8 September 2022 (UTC)
