Revision as of 13:44, 15 January 2021

This page is about planned versions of all editions of Minecraft. These updates either have major sources to their existence or have received development versions.

Note that only editions with known planned updates are listed here; if no known planned updates exist the edition is left out.

Java Edition

This article is about planned versions to the game. For planned features, see Java Edition mentioned features § Planned.

1.17

Main article: Java Edition 1.17

1.17, the first release of Caves & Cliffs, is an upcoming major update to Java Edition announced at Minecraft Live 2020 set to release in mid-2021, which will revamp mountains and cave generation.[1]

Combat changes

The combat system is planned to be reworked in a future update, keeping the cooldown but only allowing the player to attack when fully charged. It is not known yet when those changes will be made, as they are developed in parallel to other features and will make it into the game "when they're good enough". The update in which they are included will also not be a combat-themed update.[2]

Bedrock Edition

This article is about planned versions to the game. For planned features, see Bedrock Edition mentioned features § Planned.

1.16.210

1.16.210 is an upcoming minor update to Bedrock Edition with no set release date, which will add new ambient sounds to the Nether, and fixes bugs.[3][4]

1.17.0

1.17.0, the first release of Caves & Cliffs, is an upcoming major update to Bedrock Edition announced at Minecraft Live 2020 with no set release date, which will make additions and revamp mountains and cave generation.[5]
