Obtaining[edit | edit source]
Wood planks can be broken by hand, but using an axe will speed up the process.
|Breaking time[note 1]|
- Times are for unenchanted tools in seconds.
Crafting[edit | edit source]
Natural generation[edit | edit source]
Wood planks can be found in 68.4% of bonus chests in stacks of 1–12. They also generate in various natural structures, as listed below.
Oak wood planks can be found in:
- Abandoned mineshafts where they are used as beams supported by oak wood fence posts.
- Plains villages where they are used for various structures including walls, roofs, and floors of many buildings, as well as paths over water.
- Strongholds where they are used for floors and pillars in the Library and Storage rooms.
- Woodland mansions
Birch wood planks can be found in:
- Woodland mansions
Spruce wood planks can be found in:
- The swamp biome where they are used as the primary building material for witch huts.
- Taiga villages, in place of oak planks.
Acacia wood planks can be found in:
- Savanna villages.
Dark oak wood planks can be found in:
- Mineshafts generated in mesa biomes.
- Woodland mansions
Jungle planks do not generate naturally.
Usage[edit | edit source]
Wood planks can be used for building structures, as crafting ingredients, and as fuel.
Crafting ingredient[edit | edit source]
Wood planks are used in many crafting recipes. Doors, fences, fence gates, slab, stairs and boats must be crafted from wood planks of the same type and will match the wood type used. For other products, wood planks of different types can be mixed freely, with no effect on the result.

Data values[edit | edit source]
