Night Vision is a status effect that enhances the player's ability to see in darkness and underwater.

Effect[edit]

Night vision greatly increases the brightness, so the player can easily see in a light level of 0. However, it is not as bright as a light level of 15, similar to sky light level 14, and as such the player can distinguish between light levels.

  • Despite mobs being unaffected due to Night Vision's purely visual effects, boss mobs and Giants are both immune to this potion.
  • If used in the Nether, the background appears a brighter red.[verify]
  • If used in the End, everything appears tinted pink.
  • If combined with blindness or used in the Void,‌[JE only] the screen becomes entirely black.[1]
  • If submerged in lava, the screen appears bright orange.
  • If in water in a swamp biome, the view is foggy and obscured.
