Multishot is an enchantment for the crossbow that allows you to shoot a fan of three arrows (or rockets), but only uses one.

Usage[edit]

A crossbow with Multishot shoots 3 arrows on each shot, sending them in different directions (10° apart), but consume only 1 arrow per shot. The two side arrows cannot be collected after shooting. In Java Edition, no more than one arrow can hit the same mob from arrows fired in the same shot. Once the mob has been hit, all other arrows from the same shot are deflected.

If a tipped arrow is fired using Multishot, all three arrows fired inflict the given status effect. Firework rockets fired with a Multishot crossbow are duplicated like other projectiles.

Crossbows with the Multishot enchantment use three durability points each shot instead of the usual one point.

Incompatibilities[edit]

Multishot and Piercing are mutually exclusive. However, if combined using commands, both enchantments function as normal.

Trivia[edit]

  • In Java Edition 3D Shareware v1.34 (the 2019 April Fools update), higher levels of Multishot (obtainable through the burning barrels in that version or commands) shoots more arrows. This is the only version to do this; on other versions, crossbows shoot 3 arrows regardless of the level of Multishot.
