Calling the latest weekly 'Weekly' is a mistake[]

...For two major reasons and one minor:

The first major reason is that whenever a new release comes out we start getting a mixture of old and new bugs reported on the supposedly new page, and to go with that a crop of useless 'wrong version' messages. If a bug overlaps with a new release, then the page might have been correct when the bug was posted, but then it becomes wrong without anyone being able to correct it. (Because the old page gets frozen when it's renamed and archived, so no-one can move bugs onto it any more.) The second reason is that if you move a long discussion from a bug page onto the talk page, you initially need to link to a discussion Talk:Issues_Weekly#Whatever_the_subject, and that link will break as soon as a newer weekly comes out and the old talk is archived to its weekly_12wXXa page.

The minor issue is that if a weekly issue page was named in its URL, it wouldn't need to be renamed every week, which is a needless chore, and furthermore the weekly release to which an issues page applies would be unambiguously apparent from its URL. This does benefit the techies more than the non-techies, but I'd point out that it's usually the techies who produce the majority of useful bug reports. --82.69.54.207 23:22, 30 September 2012 (UTC)

  • I have to agree. This was a surprising and confusing change to myself; I'm used to going to the weekly page by url, at the very least "weekly_xxxxx" should redirect here. — Mojang AB logo Dinnerbone(T) 08:04, 1 October 2012 (UTC)
  • If everyone's fine with this, I've gone ahead and changed it. Now we just have to update the redirects to point to the current version. --M0rphzone(talk) 01:48, 3 October 2012 (UTC)

Nether Lighting[]

Appear to have problems with lighting in the Nether in 12w39b. As in, there are no "live" lighting updates when placing a torch. You have to leave and re-enter the Nether for it to recalculate. Even then, doesnt work properly. Doesnt prevent blazes from spawning in a extremely torch spammed area. Youtube video to follow. Anyone with same problem/able to reproduce on their game(s)? - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WHWdHXo0Hm8&feature=youtu.be Avidkaos999 07:34, 3 October 2012 (UTC)
