When you make a clock and power it with redstone signal it wont work again in that place. Make dirt on side place redstone torch and on torch put dirt and on block where is torch you add redstone when torch is turned off it not work again u can replace it by new redstone but it only OFF and on that place it dont work anymore.

Installation Issues[]

When I tried installing minecraft 1.9pre-release 2 it said:

Crashing[]

  • If you have a stack or block of 'Block 97' (Silverfish block), putting the mouse over it while in the Inventory screen crashes the game with a 'Saving Chunks' screen. --ClassyCreeper15 15:30, 29 September 2011 (UTC) ClassyCreeper15
I can back this one up; additionally, it appears to only be a client error. When on an SMP server, if someone has block 97 in their inventory, mousing over it will crash them out, but no one else. My guess is that it's related to the new tooltips added in 1.9 pre2. It tried to load a tooltip for a block that doesn't have one. Thedarkfreak 07:13, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
  • Getting killed by an arrow, shot by a dispenser crashes the server. 89.0.78.67 16:40, 29 September 2011 (UTC) Zinnusl
    • Verified! Works for me with un-modded Beta 1.9 Pr2 server. --67.8.22.221 14:22, 6 October 2011 (UTC)

When I create a new world it says "Switching Level" then it crashes.

What do you mean by 'crashes'? OS? Java version? --96.49.116.92 17:18, 29 September 2011 (UTC)
The Minecraft window instantly closes, it happens to me too.
Me too.
Me as well.
  • Deleting a Regular Survival World, after first Playing Hardcore, then Playing the Survival Mode you are going to delete, will cause a crash in the game. It is unknown if this has anything to do with Playing Hardcore mode(and dying in it) or if this happens upon deleting Regular Survival Worlds regardless of Hardcore Gameplay. This Crash occurs on SSP with Intel Mac OSX 10.6.8. and Java SE 6 64 bit ver. 1.6.0_26-b03-384. I can't seem to reproduce this bug, it might be a "first time" crash thing. Btw i died by drowning.
  • When you try to generate a world in either of the 1.9 pre-releases (any mode) your game closes.
  • I have not had this problem with either pre-release (neither client nor server). Can you supply any more information (console logs, OS, Java version)? — minrice2099 (talk - contribs) 22:44, 29 September 2011 (UTC)
  • I can't find my version number (it's the latest Java version) or console logs, due to problems with my computer, but I'm running Windows 7.
  • I got the same error and the game creates a text file with this in it:
  1. A fatal error has been detected by the Java Runtime Environment:
  2. EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xc0000005) at pc=0x000000006db18170, pid=13416, tid=16212
  3. JRE version: 6.0_15-b03
  4. Java VM: Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (14.1-b02 mixed mode windows-amd64 )
  5. Problematic frame:
  6. V [jvm.dll+0x328170]
  • i got the same error! it just closes, no text thing. windows 7, inspiron, chipset family graphix card, intel pentium, directx 10 or 9 i think... this is frustrating...

  • I had the same thing until I upgraded Java to 64 bit one then no more problem. 71.229.87.151 04:13, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
  • Same problem, except upgrading java doesn't help, and I cannot find any error logs. This is using the client, not the server.
  • When I try to change the volume of either the in-game music or sound, my game crashes by showing "Saving Chunks" for a second or two and then crashing (the way it crashes is it freezes showing the dirt background of the "saving chunks" screen). Don't know if I'm the only one experiencing this but it is really annoying because this means that the music and sound of the game is turned off and I can't get it back on without the game crashing. --Waendchen 21:53, 1 October 2011 (UTC)
  • When I load my world the game just closes. THis started off immediatly when in creative and sometimes in survival but now it happens when I load each of them. I might be able to walk around for 5 seconds before it closes. Restarting doesn't help either.
  • Very often block changes (placing/removing) doesn't change the visuals (placed become invisible and, and the game crashes after ~10s. I first noticed it in 1.9pre1. More info here. At Known_bugs somewhat similar bug is noted too under 1.1. 94.137.6.136 16:52, 6 October 2011 (UTC)

Creative Mode General[]

  • When you hold right click on milk you will drink it
Probably not new, but confirmed here. — minrice2099 (talk - contribs) 20:15, 29 September 2011 (UTC)

When you left click a mob in Creative with wheat in your hand, the wheat will disappear. --Porygon27 20:16, 29 September 2011 (UTC)

You cannot play / check noteblocks by left-clicking them because they insta-break. If you right-click, it changes the note. --DaftasBrush 11:51, 02 October 2011 (UTC)

  • Ender Pearl teleportation does not work (pearl does nothing when clicked) 149.43.222.121 05:55, 3 October 2011 (UTC) : Confirmed.--78.56.150.235 15:05, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
  • When creating new world using seed "42", get "Placed stronghold in INVALID biome at (-55, 43)". Running linux/icedtea java. --Itchytweed 11:18, 4 October 2011 (UTC) itchytweed
  • Melee damage ranges seems to have no limits with any item. The user can even attack mobs through any block while flying or grounded from any distance.
While the range have limits (just very large ones), this is not new; it has been the case since creative mode's release (1.8pre1). To me, this seems too noticeable to be unintentional, and while the targeting of mobs through blocks is annoying (and a "feature" which I hope is removed), the convenience of being able to kill mobs from a distance isn't something I'd expect to go away.
tl;dr: probably not a bug, but still a bit buggy. — minrice2099 (talkcontribs) 06:47, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
  • You can sit/unsit dogs through walls.--78.56.150.235 15:05, 5 October 2011 (UTC)

Gameplay[]

  • Massive Lag(to a complete stop) at exploration and the problem becomes eternal

when I recently returned from a newly explored place, was getting night, I decided pull a chicken with weat, the game began to lag, very lag so I fell and died. So when I respawn away from there the lag was worse. Thinking it was the experience/orbs bug, tried to get closer to the place and when I got close the lag becomes impossible to continue. I reseted/deleted all orbs, it was survival mode on singleplayer, but the problem continues and I fear having to start from the beginning OVER AGAIN.

  • Unexpected Wheat Use

When holding a bushel of wheat, I right clicked to open a door. The door opened, but the wheat I was holding vanished. I'm guessing this is a product of the breeding stuff that was just added and, when I right clicked, it tried to use the wheat on the door to put it into "love mode". Would be kinda cool if we could breed doors. :P ~Markus talk | contribs 01:11, 2 October 2011 (UTC)

Probably due to the infinite items check. The code will occasionally check if the item you're holding is infinite and remove it if it is. --Wizjany 01:15, 2 October 2011 (UTC)
  • Redstone Torch Burnout

In Pre-release 2 (does not occur in Pre-release 1 (just re-downloaded to double check)) the redstone torches will burn out after a few cycles. Replacing the torches only temporarily fixes the problem as they burn out again after a few more on/off cycles.[ user: gnomefreak 2:39pm Oct1, 2011]

Tested on Pre1 and Pre2 CSP. Could not find any significant change in redstone torch burnout. A simple torch/wire 5-clock was stable; 3-clocks and 1-clocks were not. Unconfirmed. — minrice2099 (talk - contribs) 19:31, 1 October 2011 (UTC)
The circuits I was having problems with were 1 or 2 torch piston door types.
If you could point to a video of the setup or a set of images, I could try it myself. — minrice2099 (talk - contribs) 01:59, 2 October 2011 (UTC)
I was having issues with redstone circuits and torch burnout as well, flashers, repeaters, and a simple redstone switch burned out
Again, if you could give me a diagram in video/easily understandable images, I could test this out. I haven't observed torch burnout to be any quicker than normal. — minrice2099 (talkcontribs) 20:42, 5 October 2011 (UTC)

  • Snow on Water/Ice and Altered Weather

It appears that some biomes are changed in the way that their weather is switched, even in desert biomes, there is snow, also I have noticed that there is now snow appearing on water and on ice in these altered biomes... --LethalComboFilms 19:05, 1 October 2011 (UTC)

Did this happen in a world that was generated in some version of 1.8? It's possible (although I've never actually heard of this happening) that, since snow biomes weren't included in that version, that it is cold enough in some areas for snow to fall. Again I have nothing to back this up, and it's only a theory, but if biomes use a temperature/humidity system, this could possibly be the case. — minrice2099 (talk - contribs) 19:31, 1 October 2011 (UTC)
  • Mushroom Stew

Mushroom Stew cannot be stacked, which is annoying since its my no.1 food thanks to the giant mushrooms (just find 1 normal, put some bone meal on it and you get >20) --0M9H4X 17:21, 30 September 2011 (UTC) right

I don't think that's a bug. Also exists in 1.8. --96.49.116.92 23:24, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
I wouldn't say that it's not a bug (double negative intentional); it's probably intended for all food to stack. It's just that mushroom stew replaces itself with an empty bowl when you finish it, so they would have to do something about putting the bowl in your inventory as well has do something about the case when your inventory is full. I wouldn't doubt it to implemented in a release or two. — minrice2099 (talk - contribs) 00:15, 1 October 2011 (UTC)
  • Mooshrooms and Mushroom Stew

If you right click a Mooshroom with a stack of bowls, the stack is replaced by a single Mushroom Stew, and the rest of the bowls disappear. --68.151.22.70 01:08, 2 October 2011 (UTC)

  • Vines Bug

When placing a vine in front of another vine (right clicking with a vine while looking at one) will cause the vine to disappear. (It will be taken from you inventory but not appear in the world). EDIT: This does not occur ehen the vine you want to place yours on is growing on a leave-block. Confirmed it on Wood and Cobble though. --0M9H4X 20:29, 29 September 2011 (UTC)

  • Fence Gate Bug

Fences do not block player movement for the entire block anymore, which is a feature i know but it doesnt work for fence gates. So when walking next to a fence, you will suddenly get stuck on the gate. --0M9H4X 20:15, 29 September 2011 (UTC)

I'll confirm this. Gates take up the entire block.--Barkerman 00:52, 6 October 2011 (UTC)
  • Fence Bug

When placing a nether rack fence next to a normal fence, they will not attach to each other. Although each type of fence will connect to a fence gate. Using the gate will allow you to attach the nether rack fence and normal fence together. Not sure if this was present in 1.9.1 or if it is a bug at all. --Throex 15:09, 29 September 2011 (UTC)

Diagonal fences no longer block movement. --Fett0001 16:29, 29 September 2011 (UTC)

Pressure plates (stone and/or wood) can be attached to wooden "Fence" posts, can not be attached to "Nether Brick Fence" --71.193.183.45 18:59, 29 September 2011 (UTC)

Pressure plates on wooden "Fence" posts now activate (click) when you get next to them, do not activate when you stand on top of the fence. If the intent was just to create a hackish way to create a table, should the table really "click" when I approach it? --71.193.183.45 19:10, 29 September 2011 (UTC)

Wood fences connect to pumpkins.--46.146.148.202 11:25, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

Fences currently connect to (nearly?) every solid block. — minrice2099 (talk - contribs) 14:15, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

Fences can now be used as safe zones from mobs. For example, if you are in an abandoned mineshaft and a mob is chasing you, you can stand "inside" (right up against) a fence post and the mob can't get to you. --DetachableMonkey 11:31, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

  • Glass pane glitch

Glass panes don't seem to appear correctly when placed under stairs. The top border of the glass panes is glitchy when the camera moves.

  • Enderman Bug

Enderman seem to disappear after touching water. If you hit them, have them follow you to water, instead of teleporting away from it, they just disappear. Anyone else confirm? --Throex 15:46, 29 September 2011 (UTC)

May have just teleported to a cavern underground.
  • Enderman sometimes not taking damage from the day. Feature or bug? Maloncanth 02:26, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
  • Sprinting

You cannot sprint for more than 30 consecutive seconds regardless of hunger or game mode (creative/survival). Fair chance it isn't a bug, but I didn't notice this before, so I'm putting it here. — minrice2099 (talk - contribs) 21:03, 29 September 2011 (UTC)

You also move at insane speed if you jump while sprinting on ice. The speed is not conserved when you land (IE: You only get superspeed while you're in the air)121.74.239.222 06:01, 1 October 2011 (UTC)

Big confirmation on this one. As opposed to barely being able to clear a four-block gap on dirt, sprint-jumping on ice makes a four-block jump easy. With enough practice and time, I may even be able to clear a five-block gap. — minrice2099 (talk - contribs) 07:37, 1 October 2011 (UTC)
  • Ender Pearls

You take 2 and 1/2 hearts damage after teleporting. --rush247 21:58, 29 September 2011

Pretty sure this isn't a bug. Although I can't seem to find it, I'm sure I saw some Mojang staff mention this. Regardless, it would be a pretty major and obvious bug to just make it through to release. — minrice2099 (talk - contribs) 14:12, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

Not entirely unexpected, if you throw the ender pearl at close range to an object or at a thin object you may teleport into it or glitch through it. Both occurred occasionally while testing with a Glass Pane. 192.168.0.41 16:09, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

Made a map in the Nether and it duplicated my first Overworld map. Haven't repeated the process yet, but intend to.--Therealzerobot 14:23, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

Are you sure you didn't just shift click when creating the map? This creates a copy of map_0. — minrice2099 (talk - contribs) 14:12, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
No, indeed I am not sure! I've gotten into the habit of shift-clicking when creating a thing. I will try again and be sure not to do so. Thanks.--Therealzerobot 14:23, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
  • TNT Bug

When you place a block of TNT over a dropped item the item will not eject out of the TNT. if the dropped item is sticking out of the TNT (but less than half way) the item will appear to be black, as though it is suffocating. 67.163.251.154 21:22, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

  • TNT Bug No. 2

TNTs explosions are totally random. I know different blocks habe different TNT-blast resistance, but as an example i just had a TNT that blasted a big hole to the down right from where i set it off. Image you have a square and you put the TNT in the upper left corner. Instead of destroying blocks all around it, it blasts the whole square. I hope you understand what i mean. Kinda hard to do bug reporting in english for me :D--0M9H4X 16:47, 5 October 2011 (UTC)

  • Redstone Block activation

Redstone Blocks only light up when you click on them with your pick. If you're mining a different block and move the cursor onto the Redstone, it doesn't activate. --Supermathie 01:46, 1 October 2011 (UTC)

  • You can enter a minecarts and boats from unlimited distance and sometimes through blocks. --82.131.88.142 14:10, 2 October 2011 (UTC)
You sure you weren't playing in creative mode? This is typical of Entity interaction in creative. — minrice2099 (talkcontribs) 14:13, 2 October 2011 (UTC)
  • When im feeding animals to breed them I go down to one wheat left and it doesnt disappear no matter how much i feed them Archerofyail 17:59, 2 October 2011 (UTC)
I've noticed this too. Looking at the level.dat file it looks like the wheat count is actually incremented up every time you use wheat after having only one left, even though you only see one wheat remaining. Exiting and re-entering the game will show this wheat count, which can go way above 64. 149.43.222.121 02:45, 3 October 2011 (UTC)
Confirmed this, the last wheat seems to be infinite. Should add this to the proper page. --96.30.137.34 20:56, 3 October 2011 (UTC)
  • Arrows

Arrows do not stuck in Mobs anymore, Dont know if is a bug (?). -- Keyword22

  • Sugar Canes

Sugar canes can be placed on sand if only it's placed near water.

I dont think this is a bug, but anyway, its confirmed here.--0M9H4X 16:47, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
I'm with you on this; pretty sure it's not a bug. It started in 1.8pre1 and is, in my opinion, too trivial a thing to be left in or added by accident. — minrice2099 (talkcontribs) 17:17, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
  • Bed / Sleeping bug

When trying to enter a bed while standing on it, it doesnt work. You have to stand aside of it. However, during the day, if you right click on it it says "You can only sleep at night." So i guess the game knows im trying to sleep when I stand on it at night since the hit or click or whatever detection seems to work, so why cant I?

Blocks can be removed from below beds without bed popping off (as in previous versions). However, in pre 1.9-2, the bed cannot be slept in.--Barkerman 17:12, 5 October 2011 (UTC) Never mind, it work.s I don't know why I couldn't get into the bed. --Barkerman 00:51, 6 October 2011 (UTC)

  • Disappearing boats.

If I exit a game while in a boat, the boat is gone when I restart that game. Severe risk of drowning. (SSP, Hardcore mode, Windows).

Gone? Or just moved on?--Barkerman 21:05, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
I can confirm that it drops you in the water (not by a lot, but enough to startle you if you're not expecting it, but the boat just floated off a bit. Could it have hit something and broken? — minrice2099 (talkcontribs) 21:31, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
Boats definitely still dump you, but they don't disappear.--Barkerman 00:51, 6 October 2011 (UTC)

Lighting[]

  • I had a "normal" memory crash but when I reloaded blocks around me had changed. They were in the same basic configuration but my workbench "turned into" a stone block and empty space turned into charcoal. Most odd is that the torch I placed before the crash was nowhere to be found but the light was still there. This is in single player survival Sparkalyn 04:26, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

    • Concerning your "normal" memory crash. If you are on 64-bit Windows, get the 64-Bit Java Client.
  • XP Orbs

In darkness XP Orbs don't show any colour or "glowing" effect.

Concidering XP Orbs appear to glow, they should show colour/light in dark areas.

This same lighting bug can also be noticed on redstone repeaters and the side of fence poles that are against a wall.

After checking this was also present in 1.8.

  • Icy areas have a lighting problem around a square of 16x16 Blocks. There is a shadow inside the ice layer around this area - looks not pretty.
  • Stairs still have lighting problems on the "inside" of the stairs. It's always dark there even in bright sunlight.
  • on the mac version i seem to get a shading error on user placed stone brick stairs, i haven't tested any other stairs. i also found a village with lots of pre placed stairs, none of these had this shading error. i don't know how to post an image but the error makes the left out part of the stairs very dark. placing a torch next to it does not fix it. can anyone confirm this? I can confirm, on windows xp. yet I have that problem only with brick and stone brick stairs. And I already had that in the official 1.8. And like you, villages do not have the problem. Swpe 14:38, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

Memory/CPU[]

  • Whereas the lag from 1.9pre1 has been all but dissipated, the game will still cause an almost insane amount of cpu usage and causes the temperature of the processor to climb to dangerous heights. Some people on the forums have suggested that it has something to do with the JAVA IO thread priority of the world generation found in the bn.class. This bug is found across all platforms and processor types, although it might not be as noticeable on newer machines.

Here is the link to that topic: [3]

  • on the mac version of minecraft i seem to have some kind of memory leak, when i start playing with the graphics set to fancy i get 50-60 fps, this slowly declines until its about 10-20 fps. when i go to options and switch to fast graphics, exit the options menu and then go back to the options menu to set it back to fancy my fps goes back to 50-60. can anyone confirm this? A memory leak (or even general memory usage) shouldn't have any effect on graphics performance; that's all CPU/GPU related. Regardless, I haven't noticed any excessive CPU usage/framerate drops. Have you tried playing with Advanced OpenGL turned on? Depending exactly what you're doing, that can provide a significan't boost in performance (at least it did on my Mac). There's a very big chance that this is just another threading related problem that seems to plage all of the pre-releases. — minrice2099 (talk - contribs) 14:23, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
  • I have a pretty nice computer, but it appears as though Minecraft is having problems with CPU usage mine ramped up past 88%, which is way to high!
This seems to be a general problem with the pre-releases. It will probably go away with the official release. — minrice2099 (talk - contribs) 14:53, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

Mobs[]

  • [!] Chickens can walk through fences and Doors. Try to hold wheat outside of a fence box of chickens, as they try to follow you they will walk straight through the fence or door. Maybe most to all blocks in general. Bloodyjabs 04:50, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
  • Normal Spiders can attack the player out in daylight in Hardcore mode. Kyle8497 15:49, 29 September 2011 (UTC)
They always have been able to do so - if they see you while it is dark out, they will lock on and follow you for as long as possible -regardless if it becomes daylight
  • Mooshrooms and Cows can interbreed, creating a child that can be either mob, intentional?
yeh this is strange and it produces a cow? What???????71.174.254.138 04:17, 1 October 2011 (UTC)
  • All passive mobs don't follow you when wheat is selected.
Works fine for me, all mobs follow me. --Throex 16:29, 29 September 2011 (UTC)
Pigs do, sheep and cows don't. Was in CSP. --96.49.116.92 16:38, 29 September 2011 (UTC)
I was in CSP when testing it as well. I never came across cows, but sheep and pigs followed me everywhere. --Throex 16:39, 29 September 2011 (UTC)
Tested in CSP as well. Cows (and Mooshrooms) followed me just fine, though I could only seem to get two "wild" ones to follow at once. When they bred, the offspring would then follow as well. — minrice2099 (talk - contribs) 17:30, 29 September 2011 (UTC)
  • To Make breed two same colored sheeps don't take a colored sheep.
  • In creative I can make Snow Golems in the desert and they don't melt.
  • Animals "held" by wheat will stop moving if you get out of follow range so long as you continue holding the wheat. — minrice2099 (talk - contribs) 17:30, 29 September 2011 (UTC)
  • Don't know if this is suppose to be the case but Endermen spawn in daylight and teleport every second. When one looks at them they scream and teleport far away instead of attacking. Anyone else get this?
Seems to be on purpose. During the day they do their thing as normal yet when you get within a certain radius they teleport away from you. With no teleport animation it looks like they are just glitching.
  • Somme passive mobs (maybe only chicken) seems immune to a creeper explosion.
-when I tested this, I had chickens die
  • Swamp grass don't spawn animals ! I have an island of swamp grass(dark green grass), with no trees, lit with torches. No animal spawn there anymore since I removed the trees. --Psycommando 23:51, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
  • Not really a glitch, but villagers have a random walking pattern which means that after a few minutes, most of them have left the village.
  • So many creepers spawning that the game is slowed to a crawl. Hundreds and hundreds of creepers.
  • Villagers arent spawning for me, any reasons why? Bobmaster13 10:33, 4 October 2011 (UTC)
  • Near the deep ocean biomes, so many squid spawn that hardly any other mobs can spawn (in peaceful). Using SPC and killing all mobs/entities, dozens more squids spawn in like seconds.--[iNf}INITE 08:21, 4 October 2011 (UTC)

Nether portals[]

if you go to the nether it increases the chance for the computer to crash.

Sound[]

Opening chests still does not have any sound. Maybe it's intentional because I think I remember chests were silent in 1.7.3 and before, but in 1.8.1 the sound of opening a door was played when opening a chest. Dhalek 19:16, 29 September 2011 (UTC)

This is almost certainly related to the pre-release nature of the game. Some sounds aren't properly packaged with the jar. — minrice2099 (talk - contribs) 19:22, 29 September 2011 (UTC)

Music discs seem to play extremely quietly, I had to set sound to 0, music to 100 and crank my speakers while standing right next to a jukebox. Really if your standing right beside it, the music playing should be louder than distant pistons, overpowering everything else. Darkbrewery 01:09, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

This isn't a problem for me. The volume seems appropriately proportioned to other sounds in Minecraft. Is there a chance that it could be an issue with the audio library/decoder/drivers on your system/platform? My knowledge on these technical aspects is passing at best. — minrice2099 (talk - contribs) 01:13, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
music disks play under "sound" not "music", make your sound on 100% and try it again. this may fix your problem --Wally
Confirmed Jukebox audio is tied to sound setting, not sure of reasoning behind this, since jukebox music mutes the in game music anyway. Darkbrewery 01:23, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
Makes sense, though. "Music" has no recognizable source; "sounds" come from a recognizable location. — minrice2099 (talk - contribs) 01:34, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

Endermen do not seem to make any sounds. Not sure if it's a bug or not. DannKast 09:34, 3 October 2011 (UTC)

Spawning[]

Animals (I saw only pigs though) will spawn on the tree branches inside the leaves of large trees

Maybe not a new bug, but it's confirmed here (screenshot). — minrice2099 (talk - contribs) 18:42, 29 September 2011 (UTC)
  • Usually one kind of animals is prevalent significantly around player's spawn point.--46.146.186.33 16:48, 2 October 2011 (UTC)

Water[]

the first time I spawned in my minecraft 1.7 world with 1.9 (in 1.8 chunks), i die instantly when the breathing bar is up, my health doesn't decline, I just die instantly, this only happened once, it is back to normal thereafter Micheal 17:13, 29 September 2011 (UTC)

Weather[]

  • Snow now spawns on top of minecart rails- Did this used to happen? not sure if this is a bug. 71.227.74.87 22:24, 29 September 2011 (UTC)
The snow replaced my rails. They're gone. Pretty sure that's a bug. Also, it's snowing in my swamp. Not sure if that's a bug, but it seems like one to me. (Edit: On second thought, that was a 1.9pre1 world, so perhaps the snow/swamp thing is not a bug but just due to the changes in the biomes code.) 99.106.123.0 16:46, 2 October 2011 (UTC)
  • If you look up while it's snowing, you can see that it isn't snowing on the block you're standing on.
This is more a graphical bug than anything. It's an unfortunate side-effect of how snow (and rain, although it is less obvious) is actually rendered in-game. This also is nothing new; I'm pretty sure it's been this way since weather was introduced. — minrice2099 (talkcontribs) 14:18, 2 October 2011 (UTC)
  • Snow kills crops and destroys all that is not fully a block (like crops and rails)It also makes a layer of snow on water and lava without turning water in to ice. coppeerboy--Coppeerboy 21:47, 2 October 2011 (UTC)
    • I can confirm. Snow appears on fences and on top of water without making it ice. Also, during snowfall when snow is generated on a block it will replace crops, saplings, and torches. - 68.189.148.32 03:47, 3 October 2011 (UTC) dsmith77 -at- gmail.com
  • Snow can cover lava and torches out in the open.
  • Rain makes no sound above an elevation of 75 blocks. It is for me... can somebody confirm that? KleineMax 18:07, 4 October 2011 (UTC)
If you place some blocks down at elevation 75, you should once again notice sound. Unless rain has something to fall on, it makes little to no sound (just like real life!). Not a bug. — minrice2099 (talkcontribs) 20:08, 4 October 2011 (UTC)
  • Placing Snow blocks in lava does not destroy them. maybe not a bug, but it's just wrong.

Biomes[]

Big trees that spawn can't naturally retain their shape. Braking one outer leaf can start a chain reaction of deterioration.

  • May not be a bug: Trees that grow from saplings in swamp-biomes will not grow vines on them unless placed manually by the player. So if you farm some wood in a swamp, it will destroy the unique look of that biome (which I really like, thats why i care) --0M9H4X 20:38, 29 September 2011 (UTC)

The problem with large areas of ocean generated abruptly without transition at the edge of certain biomes is still there. --Axnjaxn 23:05, 29 September 2011 (UTC)

  • May not be present in 1.9 pre 2 - I wasn't able to reproduce the world from the same seed. On the other hand, deleting the ocean chunks in a map editor and allowing Minecraft to generate new chunks yielded more ocean. --Axnjaxn 03:01, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
    • Are you certain that the land chunks aren't also supposed to be ocean under the 1.9 code? You're not running around in a 1.8 world, are you? Because that would create that exact effect if you were. Moleculor 07:31, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
      • I think this bug has been out for a while, I had my 1.6.6 server do this as well. (UTC)

Missing taiga biome, actually replaced with pine forest without snow.

Village spawning is very sketchy, causing villages to generate partially underground, in water, or set into a mountain

Creative Mode[]

You will punch mobs through several layers of blocks before removing any block in front of you. That is not a bug, but rather a feature :P --Ratman150 00:35, 3 October 2011 (UTC)

golden apple has a new texture pressing e in the inventory, but has the old texture when outside the inventory. also when thrown away it has the old texture. --Wally

Gameplay[]

Arrows Dont stuck in monster anymore. Maybe not a bug (?)

Graphical (GUI)[]

http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/File:HCMerror.jpg
I have noticed that no matter what game mode is set, survival, hardcore or creative when you click "More world options" you will see on the bottom left "World is deleted upon death". Pretty sure this is a bug, considering that it is displayed even with hardcore mode off. --Throex 15:01, 29 September 2011 (UTC)

  • Same here. I think the client can't process sizes under 1Mb

Memory/CPU[]

I dont know if this is a bug or not but it neds to use less ram for people useing older computers.

Mobs[]

  • Breeding

If you have a single piece of wheat in your hot bar and then right click on a mob, the wheat will not vanish from the hotbar and can be used over and over, the wheat will then be unable to be stacked and if thrown on the ground will not be able to be picked up.

Are you sure you were not in creative mode? --Throex 16:28, 29 September 2011 (UTC)

Definitely the case in survival, you can also spawn infinite amounts of wheat by rightclick-dropping wheat in your inventory.

I can confirm this. I have the exact same issue. --Obi-Wahn 23:43, 29 September 2011 (UTC)
I can also confirm this.
I Came here to report this very same bug It also makes it so that you can't pick up any other wheat, or stack any wheat. It ruins harvesting.- Zellman: 1/Oct/2011

In the 1.9 pre-release, when you feed wheat to a mob while holding only 1 wheat, it causes that wheat to become infinite. You may also use right click to drop the wheat from your inventory and it will create multiple wheats on the ground for you to pick up.

This is similar to above but also confirmed.

Non-livestock mobs sometimes respond in strange ways to wheat. Snow-golems will target you and follow you like normal when wielding wheat - but their targetting includes attacking you.

Snow-golems appear to attack each other instead of breed when attempting to feed them wheat, although they were surely not meant to be able to breed.

Snow Golems become aggressive when wheat is held.

Confirmed. Causing a "hurt" animation while no longer holding wheat will stop it from attacking you. — minrice2099 (talk - contribs) 17:30, 29 September 2011 (UTC)

Wolves (neutral and hostile) don't breed but show hearts like normal when fed wheat.

Other mobs may react oddly also. 4.244.150.233 17:13, 29 September 2011 (UTC)

Sound[]

Items[]

After breeding with wheat the wheat that was used is corrupted and can multiply on the workbench.

SMP[]

stop does not save chunks[]

The Minecraft Server cannot shut down cleanly and always results in loss of data when you do so! The server does not save the world when you close it due to the threaded chunk-saving. Because the thread that saves chunks is marked as a daemon thread, it is interrupted when you give the 'stop' command to the server, meaning any unsaved chunks are lost forever.

Tree leaf blocks not sent to client[]

When in the same chunk as a newly grown tree the blocks are not always sent to the client. Only unloading the cached chunk and re-loading it (E.G. Move very far away or teleport or reload client) are the blocks sent to the client. In 1.9pre1 (untested in pre2) the blocks were still present on the server side and behaved as an invisible barrier. Image:2011-09-29_19.04.36.png

Ender Pearl[]

Using an ender pearl to teleport disconnects from the server for "hacking?".

Are you running an updated server? --Ianweller 16:22, 29 September 2011 (UTC)
^Thats propably due to a plugin installed used against cheaters or excessive laggers. Its most likely not been updated to know about ender-pearl-teleporting so it thinks youre hacking. –The preceding unsigned comment was added by 0M9H4X (Talk|Contribs) . Please sign your posts with ~~~~
I've addressed this problem on the ender pearl page, the "hacking" kick is triggered when player movement speed is above 10 blocks in distance in too short a time. --Wizjany 20:26, 29 September 2011 (UTC)
Absolutely confirmed as a bug running on an up-to-date (1.9pre2) vanilla server (locally). The pearls can be thrown and did damage as expected, but appeared to have no other effect until I actually moved. Then, depending on how far they were thrown, I was either teleported (which gave "Player moved wrongly" warnings to the console) (if thrown close) or kicked from the server (if thrown far) with the message "You moved too quickly :( (Hacking?)". — minrice2099 (talk - contribs) 20:38, 29 September 2011 (UTC)

Old Bugs/Not Bugs[]

Achievements[]

The Sniper Duel achievement still doesn't work. I built a pole to mark the 50 block distance and killed a skeleton there with arrows. The loot clearly lay behind the mark but I didn't get the achievement. And yes, I already have the Monster Hunter achievement. --Obi-Wahn 07:47, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
