Confirmed. --nl37tgt 23:31, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
Confirmed nish197 14 September 2011
Please refer to the wiki page for more crash bugs related to chests and dispensers. Any new bugs, please list. --nl37tgt 06:51, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
  • When placing a torch underwater in creative mode, the torch gets destroyed but the light stays.
Confirmed with torches and glowstone (After breaking). - Far
jack-o-lanterns as well --nl37tgt 21:53, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
All light producing blocks (when destroyed) don't update the light they create, in all locations Nklvh 09:39, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
  • Tundra/Taiga biomes still don't generate any snow. 13 September (Present in 1.8 Pre1)
snow will be returning in 1.9 [1] --nl37tgt 00:36, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
  • F8 No longer gives you a smooth camera.
Confirmed, but may be intentional --nl37tgt 23:50, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
  • Red flowers don't spawn naturally.
Confirmed Nklvh 01:06, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
  • Stone brick stairs, when broken from behind, ocasionaly turn into cracked stone bricks or mossy stone bricks instead of regular stone bricks. Peachkeen 01:45, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
  • When breaking stone bricks they can appear in your inventory as two different unstackable types of stone bricks that look exactly the same. Also stone bricks, cracked stone bricks and mossy stonebricks all are labled simply "stone bricks" on the inventory screen.Peachkeen 01:45, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
  • Sitting in a boat and opening you inventory will show your legs in teh sitting position but your armor stays straight and doesnt follow your legs into the sitting position
  • You are able to use Fog again. I can use "F" And it does the fog change, this was removed in the first update. Will it be fixed? –The preceding unsigned comment was added by (Talk|Contribs) 23:53, 13 September 2011. Please sign your posts with ~~~~
Confirmed notch said on twitter it will be "fixed" again:[2] Reason:[3]. You will still be able to change fog by using F3+F:[4] [5]. Cptodin 09:33, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

Confirmed False[edit]

  • Items dropped on top of a cactus block are permanently destroyed without animation, as lava would do.
Not a bug. It's always been like that. Shellface 20:54, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
  • In creative bedrock can be broken
Not a bug. Intel iX 20:14, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
  • Sometimes when hitting a mushroom clustered with other mushrooms, the whole cluster of mushrooms will be destroyed along with the one you were trying to destroy. 19:15, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
Not a bug. This happens because as you remove the mushroom the blocks around it refresh their light levels and if it is too much for mushrooms to grow, they 'pop' out. - MrLixivium.
Also, mushrooms don't 'stop' a swung implement's damage, so you can hit several with one swing.
  • Mushroom Stew still doesn't stack
Not a bug. Intel iX 15:56, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
Why no bug? Source pls.
^^uncooked foods stack, "cooked" foods do not. Since mushroom stew is the end produce of a bowl and two mushrooms, you can consider them cooked and thus shouldn't stack. --nl37tgt 19:47, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
Cooked chicken, beef, pork, and bread all stack. If these shouldn't stack then they should be considered bugged. Tenlaven 20:14, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
If a stacked consumable item that leaves another item(buckets) is used, the entire stack becomes said used item. Hence, not bug due to bugs otherwise. Shellface 20:54, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
my mistake, i hadn't tried stacking cooked foods. although, the logic that if a food item returns another item (bowl) having it stack would possibly cause an error makes sense. sidenote, cakes don't stack. --nl37tgt 21:16, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
By "cooked" they mean "crafted" if you were confused. Beef, chicken, and pork (cooked in a furnace) all stack. Stew and cake do not. Bread? Exception to prove the rule Nklvh 00:20, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
  • Can't build a tower to the sky by using the old technique of looking down while jumping while holding the mouse button.
-Present in 1.8v1. Probably intentional. Skullmonkey 18:13, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
Confirmed. Fixed in final release. Source: [6] - Far
  • The food bar does not drain while the player is in a boat.
Not a bug. Source: [7]
  • Still getting the black screen when trying to access video options from main menu, from a fresh loading. Also from within a world, I get "Saving Chunks".Fett0001 17:07, 13 September 2011 (UTC) <- Used Optifine or other? Delete the settings file. <- Thanks. Fett0001 22:23, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
  • F6 and F7 do NOT change time in Creative or Single player modes24.98.211.169 21:34, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
Confirmed, may be intentional. --nl37tgt 23:52, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
Intended [8]. Cptodin 10:10, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

  • Attempting to shift-click a non-stackable item (e.g. spade ) from inventory to a full chest will cause a crash. (Dirt screen with "Saving Chunks" or black screen) Solrac776 10:14, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
  • When it is raining and you are on stairs, rain will appear to be black.
  • After updating to 1.8 v2, Minecraft gets stuck in the Updating screen after logging in. Never encountered this problem in any previous version, and using a completely unmodded version of Minecraft.( 03:20, 14 September 2011 (UTC))
  • I'm experiencing a lot of graphical glitches, together with frequent "out of memory" errors. For example, after I mine half a dozen blocks the game will stop rendering the blocks exposed by mining. Shortly afterwards I will get an out of memory error. Or sometimes when placing a torch certain blocks will not update and shortly after I will get an "out of memory" error.
  • In addition to light sources placed underwater leaving their light when they are removed (already listed under confirmed), any sections of water lit by nearby light sources remain lit when the light source is removed.(Youngwolf0 01:32, 14 September 2011 (UTC))
  • When one of the squares of a furnace is already filled, either fuel or item to be smelted, and an item is added to the other the game crashes, taking you back to the "Saving Chunks" screen where the words have a double image.
Unable to reproduce --nl37tgt 23:01, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
Cannot reproduce either. Cptodin 00:21, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
Old bug from Pre-1. Update to Pre-2 before contributing Nklvh 00:43, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
Doesn't exist. Bzipt. Intel iX 01:45, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
Reproduced several times, currently playing 1.8v2``xenorager`` 09:43,13 september 2011 (UTC)
  • Game performance drops a lot after a couple minutes of playing. Movement becomes laggy and slow. Quiting the game and loading the same world pushes the performance up again, but after a while it drops again. I've been experimenting this since 1.8v1 (never before) in boot creative and survival mode (though I've only been playing in new worlds and explored a lot, so I can only ensure it happens in new large maps).
  • If a mushroom is next to a sand block, i.e. they are both sitting on the same level but next to one another, breaking the sand block will pop the mushroom out as well. Does not work with dirt blocks, others have not been tested.
Not a bug, works with every block that is put next to a mushroom. Breaking it causes light changes, also like this is 1.7.3. - Far
  • Problems with sunlight and torchlight in caves. Don't really know how to describe, so I have made a [9]video from this. Adversarius 19:30, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
Confirmed. This may be height related, and perhaps even some form of "feature", as similar floaty bits occur just above bedrock level, even with no ceiling. [10] --kivan117
  • Mobs, players, chests, signs, paintings, and more often turn black.
  • Some times when placing a seed next to a other seed on farmland it will despawn the two of them
  • No way to switch between game modes in ssp, might be intended or gui button is just missing
intended that way last i heard, it is possible to edit the flag in the save file however --nl37tgt 21:53, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
  • Looking down causes your arm to become dark. Intended, looking at light causes your arm to get lighter, looking away from light causes it to become dark. It only shifts a few hues, not like glitched painting dark. - Far
Looking down causes your arm to become glitched painting dark. This cannot possibly be intended.
  • Flint and tinder when used on ground acts like bone meal.
Unable to reproduce, attempted with saplings and seeds. Does not cause any growth, unlike bonemeal. - Far
Unable to reproduce with mushrooms either. --nl37tgt 00:34, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
Doesn't exist. Intel iX 01:48, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
  • Maps do not correctly display the direction the player is facing. (I can make the map pointer face up and slightly to the right, but when I move forward, the pointer moves up and slightly to the left.)
Maps work as intended for me. remember "up" on the map is east. --nl37tgt 23:03, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
I have noticed the same before, in earlier versions. On the map it looks like the pointer is drifting. The effect is only very small. Cptodin 00:49, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
  • Dying of hunger causes game to crash
  • Taking a screenshot in F3 mode crashes the game.
Unable to reproduce, Windows 7 64bit. - Far
Took screenshot several times while in "F3 mode". It did not crash the game for me. Cptodin 08:55, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
  • Possibly, when the character Runs/Sprints the arm no longer swings.
  • Using Bonemeal on regular grass will cause Tall Grass and/or flowers to appear.
not a bug. works the same way in 1.7.3 --nl37tgt 23:06, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
Intentional since bone meal makes trees grow, it also makes grass grow --Mario64325 19:53, 25 November 2012 (UTC)
  • On some maps that I have played , there is no such thing as diamond ore , it only exists in dungeon chests.
  • Signs are still sometimes black.
  • Mobs can be hit/killed with arrows through Glass Panes if a part of the mob is inside the Glass Pane Block. Although punching or swording the Mob does not work (Test it with a wall of Glass Panes, an angry mob that's following you on one side, you on the other)
  • In addition to the above bug, mobs can still be hit from 20+ blocks away, and can be hit through blocks. Tested with chicken through glass and dirt in creative mode.
  • Ability to pass through blocks while sprinting. Confirmed with further testing. When sprinting into a 1x1x1 hole and there is a block 2 meters above the top of the hole, player will enter the next block. If lava, water, or air is beneath said block, player will enter that space.
  • Can't define functions for mouse's extra buttons (not exactly a bug, but could be changed)
  • Relogging while signing out on a boat causes boat to dissapear.
Exiting a game while sitting in a boat an then reloading that save will have you spawn standing in water, the boat may have "kicked" and either broke on the shore or moved out of view range. --nl37tgt 00:55, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
  • When you press F3 during the game and then close it the bars are show in the main menu.
I assume you mean the bar on the lower left? that has always been that way to my knowledge. --nl37tgt 23:50, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
  • Upon re-loading from a crash, world was turned opaque,

  • Memory leak in windows 7 64-bit. Minecraft constantly uses more memory until game crashes with "out of memory" error. -Korelik
I'm not experiencing this on the same OS. I was just flying around in creative mode for an hour. --nl37tgt 00:38, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
I'm experiencing the same issue with a Core i5 and Windows 7 64bit. Java is updated, and memory exceeds 800MB used before crashing. -- Howpeegoo 02:48, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
i've had it approach 500MB but the cleanup code seems to be functioning. using java v6 update 27 64-bit. this is on blank worlds in creative. need more detail on reproduction steps. --nl37tgt 03:21, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
I just completed some tests with the beta 1.8 (released this morning) and the memory leak does seem to try cleaning itself up but the odd thing is that minecraft reports using only 120-200k memory, when the java application is using well over 800k, in some cases over 1mb. I havent had ant out of memory crashes since updating but this memory use seems obscenely high. I get the same results in SSP, SMP, with and without HD texture packs. Running Windows 7 64-bit and Java 6 update 27, 64 bit. (reinstalled java twice now.) -Korelik, 9:09 September 14, 2011
I'm having the same problems, i'll start the game, then about 2 minutes later, i get the out of memory error. i'm running a q8200 with 4 gb ram, i just installed java (about 10 minutes ago), and this is the first time i've run minecraft on it. I'm going to go to xp pro and see if it changes anything. 17:43, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
I've just got done playing minecraft in xp pro on the same computer for about 15 minutes using xp pro, it seems to work just fine... now to try vista 64 bit (yuck) 18:17, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
Ok... Vista is better than 7... it lasted a lot longer than 2 minutes... but it still crashed due to the Out of Memory error thing... i can try ubuntu next (11.04 64 bit), and maybe i'll even try mac (hackintosh) 18:44, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
ubuntu seems to do just fine with it... also... i got killed by an enderman for the first time... those things are creepy... 19:16, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
I forgot to mention... my video card is an nVidia 9500GT... and I reformatted the drive with hackintosh... and I don't really feel like doing that again. 19:06, 20 September 2011 (UTC)
  • Fence Gates don't trigger with left click, like doors, not sure if this is a bug. Tenlaven 20:14, 13 September 2011 (UTC) This happened to me also.
  • TAB button still doesn't register on Mac OS. Can be repeated by attempting to press TAB in the change controls screen. - MrLixivium
  • Sometimes texture of the game breaks and when pressing f2 to take a picture, game is out of memory.
  • While walking into a block adjacent to stairs (brick stairs were used) and water pushing you into the stairs it forces your character to jump. Tenlaven 20:57, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
This bug is present in 1.7.3 Ghostmancer 00:07, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
  • Sometimes blocks don't update after you mine them, keeping the target box around the block and making the adjacent blocks around it opaque. After a while whole chunks will appear opaque creating random see through chunks across the landscape. Exiting and re-opening the map doesn't fix it. Gets worse over time.
  • Water does not re-fill itself after having a block placed and then removed. Any block removed from water causes it to flow, even if a block is placed in the middle of the ocean and then removed.
This is present in 1.7.3 and before, unknown if it is intended. Water will only 'refill' itself if it is one block deep with a source block on two or more sides of the empty block. Probably made that way to stop the unintentional infinite spreading of water. Same effect creates an 'underwater waterfall' effect if, for instance, you were digging out a clay deposit in a one deep pool, the blocks where the clay was visibly fill with water, but pull you downward as if you were in a waterfall since the empty block does not have two source blocks on either side. 05:47, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
  • This is more a loophole than a bug, but sprinting is possible in the water. meaning, if you double tap forward on the seabed you sprint, and if you are sprinting when you go from land to water, you still sprint until you let go. This is obviously not right, considering double tapping while just swimming does nothing.
tested this. while the sprint animation does run, it doesn't seem that there is an increase in movement speed. a minor cosmetic bug. --nl37tgt 23:24, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
  • When riding a boat, boat turns pitch black.http://postimage.org/image/lt1b2nz8/ BizarreFeu 23:44, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
  • Going to sleep with an item equipped (in this case, a torch) has the camera looking through my player.http://postimage.org/image/lsznjbhg/ BizarreFeu 23:44, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
  • There was one bit saying boats are a priority item, and you can access them through walls. Can somebody add the same for minecarts? It works for minecarts too!

Ghostmancer 00:04, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

  • Items being moved around in the Inventory screen are hidden by the character image, but the number (if any) remains above the image.
  • When large quantities of TNT are placed and explode, some "ghost" TNT blocks remain. These appear white.
  • Breaking stone brick stairs sometimes gave me a mossy cracked stone brick instead of a normal cracked stone brick.
  • While playing on my family minecraft server it is always on peaceful. I encountered spiders in an abandoned mine shaft by a spawner. I went back and checked the server settings and my settings for minecraft and I even turn spawn animals off and they were still there. I am fairly positive this is a bug. If it can be confirmed that is great. Doerstopper 02:40, 14 September 2011 (UTC)Doerstopper
  • When creating a new world, the player may quickly relocate as the world begins to load. For me this has happened twice with him going a few paces backward, once with him falling down a block. (Win7)
  • Visual settings (brightness, fog) sometimes revert to default when quitting, reloading and starting a new game, but sometimes do not revert. (Win7)
  • Bonemeal can be used on melons and pumpkins, but it will not produce a fruit. (Creative Mode) Pareidolon 02:55, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
  • Doesn't allow you to hold down right click to countinuisly place blocks
  • Using a hoe on grass to produce farmland sometimes leave a "ghost" block of grass, but can still place seeds on it. Gets fixed after game crashes (not sure if crash because of it).
  • Torches placed on walls do not generate "new light", only the old white light.
  • Shift clicking in a chest to move an item to the player's inventory will cause the game to crash if the player's inventory was full.
  • When under water the field of view always goes back to the lowest setting58.168.235.54 07:39, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
  • It is possible to go through farmland in the right conditions, video on how [11]
  • Sailing a boat onto half-step blocks may cause the player to take damage. (I was using half-steps as a dry-dock, sometimes taking damage. I just got killed by this, but it doesn't always seem to happen) Brianrivas 09:03, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

  • Attacking Mobs, Mincarts and Boats while sitting in a minecart results in a critical hit to whatever is being attacked.

General Survival Bugs[edit]

  • Cow doesn't seem to have any chance to NOT drop beef, and it's maximum drop of beef is 3, which makes cow "overpowered" against pigs, which drop 0-2, mostly 0 (getting easily full stack (64) of raw beef after killing some cows comparing to pigs). (Intended?)
  • Not sure if it`s a bug but, sometimes there spawn about 200 animals in a area, so that u can`t walk because of Animals. Also u maybe walk about 20 min, and u don`t find any animals.
This could depend of a biome but it's still too much, I experienced like 50 cows in sight in savanna biome. Chevan 19:48, 13 September 2011 (UTC)Chevan
Islands in the ocean don't seem to spawn any animals, however you can still find them by traveling to other biomes.--TheCheatIsNotDead 20:25, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
  • Getting beef from a cow doesn't give you the Cow Tipper achievement (although the achievement's description does say "Harvest some leather", but, it seems logical. Musketeer925 22:14, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
  • Wolves are black when wet
I noticed this as well, though i was testing at night, need to test during the day. it seems like they lose the application of light when wet. --nl37tgt 01:04, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
retested during daylight. wolves turn dark when in water, but revert as soon as they exit. [12] [13] [14] [15]
more pronounced at night, in the rain: [16] [17]
once the wolves shake off, the darkness goes away. [18] --nl37tgt 02:39, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
after some more observation, it seems most mobs darken when bobbing around in water. --nl37tgt 06:36, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
  • Squids are not part of persistent spawning, they will despawn when you move far enough away from them. - Far
  • Punching a sitting, tamed dog will make it aggressive and it will try to attack you in the sitting position Caspertheghast
unable to reproduce. punch a tame dog, he fled a little bit, then continued to follow me. no aggro. --nl37tgt 06:38, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

when using TMI mod in 1.8.1 u can spawn an item known as unnamed, if you break said block...a strange mole, worm comes out that makes spider noises....?--Beeman3000 03:39, 21 September 2011 (UTC)

  • In singleplayer survival beds seem to not work even though you have a fully complete house and the bed isn't close to any walls. It will spawn monsters next you you when you try to sleep. beds will also sometimes not reset the world to day it resets the world to midnight.
I have had this happen to me to, monsters can spawn right next to, or in the vicinity, of you, even in good lighting. So far I've had encounters with Skeletons and Zombies in a well-lit house. DarkArtemisFowl 22:47, 13 September 2011 (UTC)DarkArtemisFowl
Usually occurs when you have double doors leading into your bedroom, or your bedroom is excessively large. can also occur if your bed is too close to a wall. --nl37tgt 23:44, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
  • Beds will not reset the world to a correct morning time if you have already used F6/F7 to change the time of the day. This is a bug. Bloodyjabs 16:54, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
  • When going to bed on a bed facing east (with sun rising in the north) and a wall to the south you fall to the floor instead of sleeping on the bed.
Above statement is false, what makes you fall off the bed is a block placed 2 blocks above the pillow bed block. You can prevent (or direct) the fall by placing others blocks in a horizontal "+" shape (the block above the pillow being the center of the "+") Zonzon 21:56, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
  • When punching a placed bed, the color of the bed turns brighter. When releasing left-click, the color of the bed turns normal again.
Although the above statement is still true, that bug was in 1.7, too.
  • When you place a bed near brown mushrooms, the mushrooms pop out, and the bed blocks cuts of, only the upper side of the bed stay, and gives you the bed item.
  • When sleeping, if you enter your bag your character is shown lying down on top of items in your bag, not the box it should be in. Tested in survival but not in creative

  • Snow is not present in Taiga/Tundra Biomes. All features of a Taiga Biome are present without a snow cover. (present in 1.8v1) Example: [19] Bloodyjabs 16:37, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
According to what jeb_ said, snowy biomes are pushed to 1.9 Twitter Chevan 19:48, 13 September 2011 (UTC)Chevan
Also Jeb just posted on his Twitter again that the biome code is being rewritten for the v1.9 update. Twitter Bloodyjabs 21:14, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
  • Red flowers won't be generated anymore in new chunks or worlds. You still can get them with bonemeal on grass.
  • Lava can be produced by the generator going into the center of a water feature and continuing to the bottom of the "lake" without turning into obsidian. {{static link|User:Th3F4114n0n3] 17:23, 13 Septemeber 2011

  • There is a problem when you shoot your bow at a mob your arrow doesn't stick it them anymore. It worked fine in Pre v1.
still working for me --nl37tgt 06:02, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
  • While charging the bow you can still break blocks, trigger levers, possibly use buttons, without losing the charge. Tenlaven 21:19, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
  • Standing on a 1x1 tower and looking down over the edge at a mob and shooting, you will shoot yourself.
  • Arrows seem to stick to a mob they hit at random positions. Bet reproducable of flying above the mob in creative and shooting it in the head straight down. It looks weird when you hit that creeper with the arrow in the face and it has it stuck in it's foot. BloodyRain2k 04:38, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
seems intermittent. sometimes they stick where you hit, sometimes not. --nl37tgt 06:02, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

Camera Glitches[edit]

Looking at certain "Points" or angles in the game gave a glitch in which you could see through a good 8x4x2(in chunks) of being able to see through the ground and into caves. This glitch is also found in Beta 1.7.3 and possible in previous versions. DarkArtemisFowl 22:43, 13 September 2011 (UTC)DarkArtemisFowl thumb

that's an OpenGL glitch. --nl37tgt 23:12, 13 September 2011 (UTC)

  • The chests act like there is no light and are in-shadowed in black until you change the light level around it.

  • Unsure how it occurred, but my chest was stuck in the open state in SMP. It's a single block chest between a jukebox and a workbench, on top of a wood plank and against a dirt wall. It may have been due to using the /time command, but it fixed itself after I re-logged. Tenlaven 04:12, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
Confirm that this occurs when multiple players access the chest using the following sequence of events:
Player1 opens chest
Player2 clicks to use chest
Player1 closes chest
Player2 closes chest
chest remains stuck open.
--Benb 05:18, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
  • Because of their intersecting model the black line on height with the lock(?) flickers if you just moved and look at it. Could maybe fixed by making the top part which opens 1mm smaller or bigger than the bottom part in width and length. BloodyRain2k 04:46, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
  • A dropped chest rotates offset as if it would be the corner of a 2x2 block. BloodyRain2k 04:46, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

Chest images rotated to incorrect positions. "Correct" location remains solid, the "false" image can be walked through. Pre 1.8 chests on SMP. Swiss Fighta 05:36, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

  • Shift-clicking while crafting now auto-creates as many of the item as possible. (Much like the Too Many Items shift-rightclick functionality.)
Probably intentional. Intel iX 15:53, 13 September 2011 (UTC)

Shift Clicking to create maps[edit]

Shift clicking to create multiple copies of the same map now just creates multiple copies of map_0, whether or not map_0 is in your inventory or even exists in the world.

  • Intentional? Jumping down a ravine doesn't kill (in about 20 blocks + leaves me with coupl'a hearts).
Try making a 1x1 tower of 20 blocks, then jumping off. The fall damage from that height has never been enough to kill. Euridicus 04:43, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
  • When a blue spider bites you, you don't get poisoned.
Not a bug. Cave spiders were nerfed and now only poison some of the time. Euridicus 04:43, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
  • The hearts loss and armor damage are backwards

Experience Orbs[edit]

  • Picking up previously dropped experience orbs can sometimes result in them perpetually orbiting the player. --Mattrition 13:47, 15 September 2011 (UTC)

  • you can Eat a Golden Apple with a full hunger bar
  • when a golden apple is eaten you have god mode for some time

  • Hunger does not deplete while inventory is open.
Not a bug, Source: [20]. As you cannot move on your own while having the inventory open you are either 'standing still' or 'riding'.

Terrain Generation[edit]

  • Pools of water are not always properly filled by the terrain generator. This leads to water being cut off at chunk edges. [21] Ariat 01:03, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
Happens sometimes in 1.7. Is it happening more now? MarioLuigi2010 01:40, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
  • Trees can spawn at the same position as pools of water, but they will be generated a few blocks above the water level. The result is trunks being suspended above pools. [22] Ariat 01:03, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
Happens sometimes in 1.7. Is it happening more now? MarioLuigi2010 01:40, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
It occurs about once every 20 pools.
  • Topsoil isn't always generated properly. The long straight edge of dirt is along a chunk edge. [23] Ariat 01:03, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
  • Most cacti spawn at height one or two [24] Ariat 01:03, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
Has it happened with different seeds? MarioLuigi2010 01:40, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
Happens with all deserts I run into, on different seeds
This has always been the case, presumably so the cacti will be small at some point. Euridicus 04:43, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
  • Gravel blocks in NPC villages aren't generated properly because they are affected by gravity. This results in uneven pathways and if a ravine or cave is generated maybe no pathway at all.
  • Random chunks spawn with sheer cliff interfaces with the intersecting biomes. Observed in pre 1.8 maps, but newly explored areas. Water levels in the ocean drop by one level at random places as well. Will try to upload photos later. This was found on SMP server while flying in creative mode. Swiss Fighta 02:26, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
The change in water level and the sheer cliffs are not random but occur exactly at the border between pre 1.8 maps and newly 1.8 generated chunks. The change in water level may be intentional to allow for a build height of 64 blocks above sea level instead of only 63 in 1.7. [25] --Blockhopper 04:11, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
Same here 200px.
Bug was also present in Pre-release1. Cptodin 09:16, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
  • Server map generator doesn't always produce significant land masses. Generator sometimes generates a nearly whole waterworld consisting of only sparcely scattered, tiny islands. [User:meiamone][4:00 14 September 2011 (UTC)]

General Creative Bugs

  • You can fly faster by sprinting and then double jumping to fly, only until you let go of the forward key.
-Already proven you don't fly faster and you only are in sprinting mode for 30 seconds while flying as well on ground. Midnightsrhythm 09:09, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
  • When going under lava, there is a moment when you can see clearly the blocks that are under the lava, it is as if the lava isn't there.

-In CMP, breaking noises are only heard by other players, you will not hear the sound of yourself breaking a block. --Unrelated user
  • While cursor is on an item on the right side of the inventory, the text shown is partially hidden by the scroll button.
  • Unlimited fly height

  • TNT when destroyed in Creative Mode drops a block, unlike all other blocks.
Confirmed, but may be intentional.
  • In creative mode you can make tamed wolves sit and stand through blocks-veangence2
  • In creative mode you can hit tamed wolves through blocks-veangence2
  • In creative mode tamed wolves flee-veangence2

  • Intended. You are able to enter a boat from an unlimited distance. BlackDragonIV 15:50, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
Does this happen outside of creative?
No, this is an intentional feature of creative, along with unlimited melee range and entering minecarts from an unlimited distance
I've tested the boat teleport and found its exactly 32 blocks between you and the boat is the max you can teleport from. With a number like that I think it was meant to happen. Midnightsrhythm 05:17, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
  • Boats are a priority target, even if a block is between you and a boat, you will hit the boat (Or enter it if you right clicked) BlackDragonIV 15:50, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
  • When boating, background under water flashes (alternately dark and light blue)[Also happens when bobbing in water].
  • Boats dropping from water down several blocks instantly kills you.

Colored Wool Won't Change[edit]

  • INTENDED? Unlike other blocks when you click them in your inventory and then click a different block from the item selection list in creative and it'll change to the block you clicked, wool will not do that. For example, if you click an orange wool stack you have in your inventory, and wish to get a stack of black wool by clicking on it in the item list, it just adds another to the orange stack. (Hard to explain >_>) - Far
-This is because wool has a data value of 35; and uses additional metadata to define the colour. The Creative inventory only checks the value of the item you're trying to exchange, and ignores the metadata.
Ex: 35:2 is magenta wool

Pick Block[edit]

  • INTENDED? Does not "pick" blocks that are not equiped on your hotbar BlackDragonIV 15:50, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
Are you playing in creative mode? No problem for me in survivial. --Leonick 17:49, 13 September 2011 (UTC)

Sprinting and Flying[edit]

  • When you start sprinting then hit space bar twice to fly, you still are in sprinting mode. This is done while holding the "W"(forward) key the whole time. Also hitting space bar will not bring you out of sprinting mode, but hitting shift or letting go of "W"(forward) key will bring screen back to normal. If you want to get lower elevation w/o getting out of sprinting mode then you have to hit space bar twice (exit fly mode) also you can land on the ground still in sprinting mode if you land at a safe spot. After 30 seconds while flying in sprinting mode it will go back to normal. Not sure if you fly faster than normal but it looks like it. Midnightsrhythm 20:01, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
Whoa, cool! Tested at high altitude, looking primarily down; when cancelled sprinting by tapping shift, speed didn't seem to decrease. Probably just looks faster at lower altitude when looking forward because of the FOV shift. Euridicus 04:53, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

Tamed Wolves[edit]

  • When you have 1 or more tamed wolf they will teleport to you like normal when you on the ground but when you are flying they do not teleport to you till you touch the ground.(Unlike Enderman that teleport to you while you are flying) Also if you fly extremely far away from them before touching the ground they will not teleport to you. The only way to get them back is to go to the area where you left them behind and get in a range for them to teleport to you again. Just found the range is around 192 blocks they will teleport back to you. Any further they wont until you walk back into range. Midnightsrhythm 06:02, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
Might be a problem with the active chunks. You run out of the chunk where the wolves are and they are frozen then and wont do
   anything. Tested with furnaces, Megapuncher5000

Stone Brick[edit]

  • In creative mode mossy stone bricks and cracked stone brick are only called stone bricks. so there are 3 types of stone brick now with the same name.

-Same. Skullmonkey 17:35, 13 September 2011 (UTC)

  • Also, Stone Brick dropped by destroying Stone Brick Stairs doesn't stack with normal Stone Brick.

Underwater Grass[edit]

* Grass Blocks placed underwater will not turn back to dirt. Intended? -Depends on the light level

  • Can't be placed behind a block(s) with a painting already existing on the other side.
  • Can no longer be placed over openings? Tried for a while without success.(possibly not a bug)
  • Sometimes shows up with black texturing when placed. (Possibly new paintings, with content as yet un-added?)

General Multiplayer Bugs[edit]

When using a door, no sound effect is played if you have something selected in your action bar. Rain randomly goes through objects (it goes through half of my house but not the other half). Still exists in 1.8 pr2

I also experienced rain falling through the roof of my house in SMP. The "roof" consisted of some cobble and some grass blocks. The rain passed straight throught them, but not before I disconnected and reconnected, only after. [User:meiamone][4:00 14 September 2011 (UTC)]

Killing self with arrow dispenser trap crashes server [User:Jester_Turncoat] [10/19/2011]

Frozen Mob Models (SMP)[edit]

Saw this reported for 1.8v1 also. I found a zombie, two creepers in SMP. Looked like the client "forgot" to remove the models, the monsters just stand there, no animation, can walk through them and so on. Only found these when it stopped raining - not sure if this is relevant. Jmaasing 18:33, 13 September 2011 (UTC)

I was running into that in SMP for 1.7.3. Seems to be some sort of client side issue, as other players couldn't see them.Fett0001 22:36, 13 September 2011 (UTC)

Placing Sign in front of furnace[edit]

Just now on my multiplayer i placed a sign in front of a furnace i crashed client side. (state was off, multiplayer was survival but i was in creative mode)

Minecart into lava[edit]

If you ride in a minecart and drop into lava ( One deep with signs underneath, then air, if thats relevant) then it will disconnect you from the server saying "Internal Server Error" I was able to duplicate this a number of times. Batboyx2 04:55, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

If the server side does not have large bandwidth(ie. 100 Mbps) the clients can experience severe lag for about a minute and then get automatically disconnected show a error on server side "disconnect.overflow". Possibly due to sending small packets at a extremely rapid rate overwhelming the client. -- 06:05, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

NPC Villages[edit]

  • In SMP, village buildings might load with parts of the building missing. When walking in to the missing blocks, damage is dealt to the player. --Mattrition 13:47, 15 September 2011 (UTC)

Old bug. Intel iX 01:38, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
Yes but it is still present so why can it not be on the current bugs list?

Cooking multiple item stacks with a coal block (EX 6 iron ore and 2 uncooked pork ribs) results in the last item in the stack not being cooked because the furnace doesn't have enough fuel by a single pixel worth of level. I can swap it very fast but the furnace still doesn't cook the last item.

Temp workaround: Cook all items in multiples of 8 when using coal as fuel. 08:33, 14 September 2011 (UTC)BrickVoid
No matter how quickly you swap it, there will be a gap - that gap is long enough for the last item not to finish. Not a bug Nklvh 09:45, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

World Generation[edit]

In the middle of the ocean there are 2 dirt blocks floating on the water. Undeadloki 05:37, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

When mining for iron ore it will not drop on single player

Cannot confirm. I mined a lot of iron ore. Cptodin 00:38, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
-Also can not confirm. SSP drops for me but I believe CSP does not drop blocks. Just destroys. Skullmonkey 00:48, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
  • After mining gravel, placing it, then re-mining it, flint continues to sporadically drop. Intended? Seems only gravel found naturally should drop flint. [User:meiamone][4:00 14 September 2011 (UTC)]
always been that way to my knowledge. when a gravel block drops a flint, the gravel block itself is destroyed, leaving only the flint. if the gravel block remains after the flint drops, that's a bug --nl37tgt 05:09, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

When resizing the game window while creating a new map, the textbox for the name will change back to "New World", the textbox for the seed will return empty, and the option "World Type: Normal" will dissapear (from big to small window while in the seed menu)

Confirmed. -Andrew0085

u can destroy the last layer of the map => way to die

Not a bug. In creative you can destroy all blocks. Intel iX 16:14, 13 September 2011 (UTC)

When the parrent block of a torch is destroyed it drops the torch item which you can pick up.

Not a bug. Been here for ages. 19:13, 13 September 2011 (UTC)

Not sure how this happened but i think that when a item (happened to me with torch) has fallen on a block and then you place a block over that block it will duplicate itself constantly not sure how it happened.

House problems[edit]

Zombies and skeletons can spawn inside houses made with walls made up of a mixture of brick and wood. (maybe just wood or just brick as well?)

Not a bug. Make sure your house is well lit. Monsters spawn in dark places. Intel iX 15:57, 13 September 2011 (UTC)

well its a bug since even if the house is closed and lighted well and you put your bed near the wall (only if its a 1 block wall) zombie or skeleton will wake you up. I gues thats what he meant but im not sure. So with this arrangement zombie will spawn OUTSIDE|BLOCK|BED

Confirmed; I had a house made of brick and cobblestone, two layers thick on one side with bed. Zombies got in three nights in a row. Took out brick and replaced with all cobblestone (no changes to the amount of light), house has been zombie free for several nights now. -- Mythis

Punch bug[edit]

The punch distance is still too big.

Not a bug. Feature for creative. Intel iX 15:57, 13 September 2011 (UTC)

Drowning animation[edit]

When you're underwater for too long in creative mode the drowning animation (bubbles) are showed.

When player in Creative mode kill a mob, it will drop items (entities). By clicking the 'drop' button too. Isn't that quite useless in Creative and just aimlessly slowing the game until they disappear?

Please explain properly. Intel iX 15:58, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
I think he or she is asking why mobs drop items on Creative Mode, due to the fact that you have unlimited items anyway and he thinks those drops are slowing down the game. Cptodin 00:58, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

Mid mouse button[edit]

(?) Possibly not a bug. In MC Classic, player was able to use mid mouse button on a block that wasn't in shortcuts. It does not work in Creative. That would make building stuff faster

That's a feature request, though I don't know if it was intended to be added. Intel iX 15:59, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
  • Middle Clicking on a Grass Block moves to Dirt instead of Grass. Musketeer925 22:15, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
This remains from the middle click restrictions in earlier versions. Because there was no way to have blocks like grass and bedrock in your inventory, middle clicking them would select the next best thing (namely dirt and stone). Still, this is a bug in Creative Mode. 09:23, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

Whenever you find a dungeon in the creative singleplayer, you can open it and place the items in your inventory. Even though you don't have an inventory.

I think you actually do have an inventory (just not reachable with the inventory button), go use a workbench and you'll probably see your inventory --Leonick 17:51, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
-You do have an inventory, accessible via workbenches, chests, and furnaces. This is made obvious in multiplayer, where users can toggle back and forth between creative mode and survival mode.

Right Click with sword[edit]

when i press the right-button and then left-click short it seems to dig but when i release right button, the normal leftclick animation shows up again

Sleeping in Beed[edit]

when you sleep in a beed you wake up and a Zomby attacks you

that is normal, just dont put your bed next to the wall. and if you still get attacked change the way the door is standing. (unsigned)
Not a bug. Intel iX 16:00, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
actually, it is a bug, but an old bug. It usually involves having double doors leading into a room where a bed is. some kind of glitch allows mobs to spawn while sleeping when double doors are present. having a bed too close to a wall or poorly lit are also possibilities. sometimes having an enormous bedroom can cause mob spawning while sleeping too. --nl37tgt 05:29, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
Also having a trapdoor on top of a ladder seems to not stop mobs from getting to you, which should also classify as a bug. 09:26, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

Survival multiplayer[edit]

  • There is now rain in caves and in houses. if blocks are changed, rain stops.
  • In the desert, some blocks hurt you like a bear trap of sorts when stepped on, perhaps invisible cactus? this has happened multiple times to me and other i know.
  • Endermen are not provoked by players looking at them in SMP and are passive unless attacked. They have zombie sound.
  • Shift clicking items in the crafting window will cause all of the source item to be converted. Example: If you have some iron bars and some flint in the crafting window, shift clicking will fill your inventory with all as many flint and steel as possible.

Feature, not bug. 19:18, 13 September 2011 (UTC)

  • Rarely, placing a wooden plank will consume the remaining stack, and instead of a plank, wooden stairs will be placed instead. This happened when placing planks in water.
  • Raw porkchop used on dirt (right click) near water turns dirt into sand. (I tried do this one more time and this time dosent work. Strange :/)
Sometimes, Dirt or sand blocks change textures. I saw that multiple times already. I dont know if its fixed in 1.1. -Megapuncher5000
  • If you die in multilayer and you are a high level you lagg out the server with the amount of exp orbs you have collected.

Fixed in 1.8v2

  • if in server.properties dificulty is diferent than 0, mob spawn if spawn-monster = true OR false
  • Poor FPS performance sometimes near NPC villages. From as little as one person playing on the server to four or five. FPS dips down as much as 1/3rd of normal (If 120 is normal, down to 40. If 40 is normal, down to 15). FPS returns to normal after several minutes. Farmlands updating? NPC-border chunk updates? All players in area affected.

  • On certain computers, torches have light that changes according to time of day, the ambient light is always that of glowstone, and glowstone gives of light like a torch. What would cause this?
  • Torch and glowstone light doesn't affect pressure plates, repeaters and paintings.
  • Stone stairs are not lit up in their cut outs, leaving large black sections. Peachkeen 01:38, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

  • Fog can light up dark areas at shorter distance, probably due to being synced with the overworld even when being far below it. At day the fog is light greyish and somewhat of a help towards seeing in the dark of a subterrean ravine while it's black at night like it should be at both times. I would have posted example screenshots but the wiki won't let me, the being human proof was always thrown away when clicking preview again to unlock the save button which then wanted a new proof so I gave up. BloodyRain2k 04:28, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
  • Powered minecarts are pitchblack under moonlight while the other two are lit like they should be. Was already in 1.8 pr v1. BloodyRain2k 04:31, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

Glass Panes[edit]

  • Possibly not bugs(?) When trying to place glass panes on the roof of building they don't go flat and act as a normal pane and keep the shape of a pane placed away from any walls.
  • When placing two rows of window panes for a window they meet in middle.
  • When placing glass panes next to stair blocks, they won't connect. This is not simply graphical, it leaves the building as "open", aka zombies will spawn if you try to sleep inside a building with this bug.

  • Intentional or bug? When trying to place two slabs of different types, they don't stack. (eg. stone slab bottom, stone brick slab on top) Blankvitalzero 23:07, 13 September 2011 (UTC)blankvitalzero
Afaik, this has always been the case Nklvh 00:11, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
  • Wooden Slabs: Still act as if made of stone: they cannot be reclaimed with an axe or by hand, only with a pickaxe; they are also unable to be ignited (non-flamable), like stone.
  • All slabs: When placing a slab one block above a slab of the same kind the two slabs will automatically become joined into one regular block.
always been that way. they should return 2 slabs when broken, except for wood slabs which don't. they should also look like 2 slabs stacked together. --nl37tgt 07:07, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

Stone Bricks (ID 98)[edit]

In Minecraft 1.8 Pre-Release v2 Rain Will Fall Through Stone Bricks (ID 98) http://p.twimg.com/AZST3FvCAAAkCob.png Able To Reproduce Everytime --MotordomT 08:01, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

General mob bugs[edit]

All mobs[edit]

  • You can attack mobs through blocks.
Probably a bug, but can't say for sure (unless it also happens in survival). Intel iX 16:16, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
Could this be part of the Unlimited attack/enter(/interact) that occurs only in creative? Nklvh 23:50, 13 September 2011 (UTC)

You can attack farther away than normally.

Not a bug. Intel iX 16:16, 13 September 2011 (UTC)

The passive mobs show no way of renewing themselves. This will cause long term damage

Not a bug. Intel iX 16:15, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
My point still stands
This is NOT a bug. Mob "renewal" will be a new feature in the Adventure Update Part 2 (v1.9). Bloodyjabs 18:50, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
  • Mobs that die in lava may drop XP orbs which can cause lag, especially when players frequent an area on the surface where this happens underground.
  • When an animal is in water, upon attack they simply stare at you, instead of fleeing.
  • Since passive mobs no longer despawn, they will accumulate in water holes or caves. [28]This also creates a shortage of food if many sheep spawn then move out to the ocean, as no other mobs spawn until those are killed.
  • Possibly not a bug (?), Passive Mob spawning is bugged, mobs spawn in very specific places in large groups (7-12 mobs per group spawned, all of the same type). Killing those mobs will likely spawn mobs of the same type again.
  • Possibly not a bug (?), Certain passive mobs will not spawn at all in some places. This can be seen in mountain biomes where only sheep will spawn.
  • Passive mobs do not spawn at all on islands in the ocean. They can be found in other biomes however.--TheCheatIsNotDead 20:30, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
  • Passive mobs don't flee in water unless they are right next to the edge of the pool -veangence2
  • Passive mobs can spawn in the 1 high gap underneath trees resulting in them being stuck in the leaves Nklvh 23:47, 13 September 2011 (UTC) (Could this possibly happen with aggressive mobs? I haven't seen it yet)
  • Mobs can be hit/killed with arrows through Glass Panes if a part of the mob is inside the Glass Pane Block. Although punching or swording the Mob does not work (Test it with a wall of Glass Panes, an angry mob that's following you on one side, you on the other)

  • Burnt chickens and cows do not drop cooked chicken/ cooked steak like pigs do, but drop their raw versions instead.
Burning chickens and cows are dropping the correct types for me. Musketeer925 22:24, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
Just burned a cow and it dropped (cooked) Steak. Also Chicken dropped Cooked Chicken. Cptodin 23:44, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
Not a bug. Intel iX 01:36, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
jeb altered the drop for v2, if you light a cow/chicken on fire, it will drop the correct food item. can't find the twitter post atm. --nl37tgt 05:18, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
  • Possibly not a bug (?), Chickens rarely drop feathers.
They seem to be the same drop rate as 1.7.3 to me. "Rarely" is a bit vague, might I add. Nklvh 23:54, 13 September 2011 (UTC)

Cave spiders/Spiders[edit]

  • Cave spiders appear to be incapable of passing through web blocks, or spawning in them, instead ending up spawning in rooms adjacent to the spawner "nest" (maybe intentional) or trapped behind web blocks, unable to move (much) or attack until you free them.
  • Cave spiders get stuck in a ceilings 1x1 hole, as they can get in but appear to keep jumping in and out of the hole, but instead are actually stuck. They also can get stuck at the ceiling layer if they are outside of a cobweb.
  • Occasionally a spider when suffering damage will glow much more brightly than normal. [29] Textured spiders with transparencies also display a glow, but this is continuous. [30]
  • Cave spider when biting, don't actually poison the player that was bitten.
Chance of being poisoned was reduced to less than 100%, dependent on difficulty. Playing on normal, I get poisoned plenty. 05:48, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
  • When normal spiders catch on fire, the fire animation is unusually large.

  • When a wolf is in water its texture will become completely black (tested with a tamed wolf at night-time) and will stay black even once it has left the water. This can be fixed by making the wolf sit or reloading the world while the wolf is out of the water (in SMP reconnecting and in SSP clicking 'Save and quit to title' and reloading the world.

  • Squid do not drop experience points upon death.
I can confirm that. Cptodin 00:42, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

  • Possibly not a bug (?), Skeleton are too hard to kill, especially when in "easy" mode.
Define "Too hard" please? I kill them with 2 fully powered bow shots in normal. Nklvh 23:57, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
I suppose close range, even with a good sword. It's hard to get close because the arrows knock you back so far. Intel iX 01:28, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

  • You don't get porkchops from pigs, killed about 3. Not present in 1.8pre v1.
-I am getting porkchops. Skullmonkey 17:52, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
food drops are a random roll, you just didn't hit the magic number perhaps. kill a few more pigs. --nl37tgt 22:04, 13 September 2011 (UTC)

  • Sheep don't regrow wool or this takes a very long time. This bug was also present in 1.8 v1. Dhalek 08:35, 14 September 2011 (UTC)Fixed in 1.1 sheeps now eat grass and tall grass to regain their wool. See article Sheep -Megapuncher5000

  • Nearly impossible to kill zombie in water.
They die just fine for me. Couple sword whacks and they go down like normal.
  • Some Zombies don't start burning during the day untill you hit them.

  • Endermen in both SSP and SMP burn when exposed to the sun desipte not being "undead" like Skeletons and Zombies. [Creepers and Spiders are both living and both do not catch fire from sunlight] Originally present in 1.8 v1.
  • Enderman Do not always attack you when looked at and they see you. i have been able to walk right up to them and stare at them for a good amount of time and they look back but do not attack.
Did you look away first? Intel iX 16:00, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
Was this in SMP? Bloodyjabs 16:39, 13 September 2011 (UTC)*Cant kill Enderman with bare hands, but easy to do with Solid blocks.
  • Enderman survifes only 2 seconds in lava (with is normal) but he can live like 10 seconds in water
Not a bug. Just a difference in damage. Intel iX 18:32, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
  • Enderman remove blocks from trees. This cause very ugly landscape, seen that there are a bunch of trees without the middle blocks.
Not a bug. Endermans can pick up any block like the player at any time and range. They also remove other parts of the tree.
  • Possibly not a bug(?); Altering the eyes.png of spiders/endermen results in a glowing white "force-field" surrounding the entire mob's body. Even changing just a few pixels is enough to cause this (present in 1.8v1).
"I have the same issue, I am about quite certain this should be a confirmed bug. MrFruitTree 01:55, 14 September 2011 (UTC)MrFruitTree
  • If an Enderman carries a Grass block, said blocks textures are incorrect(showing the side texture on the top), presumably since their carried blocks show the same as blocks in the inventory.
This is fixed now. Euridicus 06:42, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
  • Possibly not a bug (?), Endermen will destroy player-placed blocks in the same fashion as every other block; randomly. This includes chests. Endermen can even pick up obsidian, TNT and bedrock. These blocks are lost forever when they are killed.[31]
  • If you look at an Endermen while in water, it just stands there even if you look away or go closer.
  • Sometimes Enderman(farlander), attacks you without you look at them.
  • Possibly not a bug(?); When an Enderman is killed, it will not drop the block it was previously holding. Bloodyjabs 21:23, 13 September 2011 (UTC)

  • Creepers some time dont have fall damage.

  • Silverfish do no damage on Survival Single Player.
not a bug. aggressive mobs are unable to kill the player in creative, as designed. --nl37tgt 07:08, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
he said Suvival single player, so... DrOctagonapus 10:38, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

I think they are supposed to be rare. (unsigned)
  • If using old (1.7) maps in 1.8 pre2, no NPC structures (villages, mineshafts, strongholds) are generated in new chunks (SMP)
  • Glass panes cant connect to two half blocks stacked on top of one another. (Creative)
  • Using shears on Tall Grass and Ferns adds the item to your inventory, but does not work on Dead Shrubs. Peachkeen 01:56, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

Sometimes the roads in NPC villages are not created correctly: Example 1 Example 2 4lien 00:36, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

Major crash on inventory screen (OS X only?)[edit]

I get the "Saving chunks" screen followed by a crash every time I attempt opening the inventory, Survival and Creative. I play on OS X Lion, using external monitor, inventory key set to C. I will check if I have this in Windows soon and update this (to see if it's hardware related, which I doubt). 19:35, 13 September 2011 (UTC)

Try loading OpenJDK (I think it works) and see if you get the bug. Intel iX 20:12, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
Hmm. Today, without external monitor, I have no crashes. Will try again with external monitor when I'm home. (Note: Different IPs, at school :P) 06:21, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
Yes, this is actually somehow related to using an external monitor. I can reproduce the glitch by logging in while having the launcher on the external monitor, going in game and opening inventory. Having the monitor connected and playing on the built in screen doesn't crash, and if I log in on built in screen then move the window to external monitor, it doesn't crash either. Also tested this for the release 1.8 version, same thing. Posting in there now. 13:31, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

Some biomes don't generate anymore: Seasonal Forest, Rainforest, Shurbland, Taiga, Tundra. Also, in the old worlds, grass and leaves are odd colored (ex. in an old rainforest biome, the grass can be yellowish).

Can anyone confirm this? Intel iX 20:30, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
jeb answered a question regarding snow biomes:[32]. Don't know about the colors. Cptodin 01:06, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
I think they still generate though, just not with snow. If so that part should be removed. Intel iX 01:35, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

"Return of the map"[edit]

A building I had built in a past map.. which I deleted.. is present. Complete with partially burned wooden pillar and hidden passages, doors, and everythign that tells me it's the building I made in the past. Remember, I build it on a map that is now deleted! 23:30, 13 September 2011 (UTC)

Had This happen to me once, but later tracked it down to the fact that I created a new world with same name and seed immediately after deleting the old one, and it pulled on random bits of leftover data from the cache. Clearing the page file and system cache rendered me unable to reproduce this on a different map set. 05:51, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

Mob Chest Bugged[edit]

I found a near-ground level skeleton spawner that had collapsed on itself. After Unburying the chest, it had a few items including two saddles. When trying to loot the saddles, my game crashes. It has happened three times in a row to me on the same world. 01:43, 14 September 2011 (UTC)sawyer80

This is a glitch with all chests. If you try to take an item from a chest using shift+click and your inventory is full, your game will crash. Bloodyjabs 03:38, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

Mac OS X 10.5.8[edit]

I encountered this same problem in 1.8 Pre-release v1. All relevant information about my computer is in the link. Mac OS X 10.5.8 running Java 1.5.0_30 from Apple Inc.

Whenever I try to load a save, start a new save, or connect to a multiplayer server the following happens: It says "Terrain Generating" as usual, then I get a blank page with the dirt texture background which lasts for anywhere from 1-3 seconds, then I get a black screen and the mouse freezes up. Around 4 or 5 seconds later the attatched error report flashes on the screen before it returns to a black screen. At this time the mouse is unfreezed, and one can close minecraft. Civiiii 01:54, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

broken link, please rehost --nl37tgt 02:48, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

Item Duplication Glitch SSP[edit]

If items are left in a crafting bench and you close the crafting bench, the bench drops a your items plus a single ghost item that gives infinite block whenever you walk over it.

This has been fixed in Pre-Release 2. Please update to Pre-Release 2. Bloodyjabs 03:35, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

Gravel In Nether[edit]

I found Gravel in the nether. Bug? Please answer

Spelling Mistakes[edit]

In World Generation, it says "Sometimes trees spawwn under se level, so part of their trunk is underwater" (Mistakes in spawn and sea) In Graphical, it says "Most noticeable when swimming in large oceans. [13]. This may be caused by the lower level of the ocean : when you swim in old oceans this problem don't appear." (There should be no space before the colon.) In General Multiplayer Bugs, it says "A server can experience extreme lag (<1FPS) id player with alot of experience orbs (hundreds or thousands) dies and drops all of said orbs"("Id" should be if and "a" should be added after it.) In General Creative Bugs, it says "Possibly not a bug(?); bottom layer bedrock can be destroyed." (While this is generally correct, every other one has a uppercase letter after the semicolon, so either make it uppercase or make the others lowercase) In Items/Blocks, it says "When you grow a giant mushroom in the Nether (maybe in real world too), the top blocks are sometimes invisible... Can be fixed by add/remove a torch close to the invisible zone. (present in 1.8v1)" (Should not have the extraneous "..." and instead of add/remove it should be adding/removing. Also, the (present in 1.8v1) should be standardized to either that or present in 1.8v1 and in Lighting, "(also present in 1.8v1)" would be better if it was (present in 1.8v1) or present in 1.8v1. Those are most of the major spelling mistakes and grammatical errors. Also, whether or not a period appears at the end of a sentence seems to be decided quite randomly, but it doesn't hinder understanding or page flow.--MillenniumB 21:08, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
