Known bugs for Weekly Build 11w50a.

Use the Discussion page first before adding any bugs onto this page. Bugs can be confirmed by checking into the discussion page and make sure other people reply to your report and have the same problem.

Organization[]

There is no need to place bullet points before issue labels. Use bullet points only for comments. Be sure to leave a single totally blank line before each new issue (but not before comments), unless the issue appears directly beneath a header.

Please ensure that the bug is tested on a 'vanilla', installation of 11w50a with NO MODS installed

Please specify whether the bug was found on Single Player or Multi Player and Survival or Creative.

Please mark your issue with one of these issue labels: (listed from highest priority to lowest)

  • [!!] = {{bl|!!}} = Critical bug that can crash a Minecraft client or server.
  • [!] = {{bl|!}} = Major bug. Use this tag sparingly; if there is consensus your bug is not major, it will be downgraded.
  • [A!] = {{bl|a!}} = Major annoyance. Think very carefully before flagging an annoyance as major. Is it really more important than most minor bugs? Use this tag sparingly; if there is consensus your annoyance is not major, it will be downgraded.
  • [X] = {{bl}} = Minor bug.
  • [A] = {{bl|a}} = Annoyance.
  • [?] = {{bl|?}} = Potential issue that you are unsure of or that the community (on the discussion page) believes requires further vetting. Note: do not use this label to indicate this-is-not-a-bug; instead, replace the issue's current label with [A] or [A!]. Furthermore, it is inappropriate to use this to flag something you disagree with; instead, express your opinion in a comment. When you apply this label to an issue, place it after the issue's existing labels; do not remove those labels.

Labels for indicating that an issue happens only in a particular game mode: (These labels cannot stand alone; you must use them in addition to, not instead of, the ones listed above.)

  • [SP] = {{bl|sp}} = Single-player.
  • [MP] = {{bl|mp}} = Multiplayer.
  • [Su] = {{bl|su}} = Survival mode.
  • [Cr] = {{bl|cr}} = Creative mode.

Labels for indicating that an issue is restricted to a particular OS:

  • macOS = {{OS|OSX}} = Mac OS
  • Windows = {{OS|Win}} = Windows
  • Linux = {{OS|Linux}} = Linux

Labels that Mojang uses:

  • [F] = Bugs that have been fixed in the next update.
  • [N] = This is not a bug. (It is intended behaviour and will not be changed)
  • [S] = Bugs that will be skipped/ignored for now.
  • [U] = Bugs that Mojang tested but was unable to reproduce. Append this tag to the end of existing issue labels, instead of replacing them.

To produce these labels, use the following code: {{bl|c}} where c is the code of the label you wish to use. (e.g., a for annoyances, etc.)

The default issue type is minor bug; you can produce this label with the shorthand {{bl}}.

Be sure to sort issues by category, type, and priority: redstone issues go in the Redstone section, etc.; bugs go in the Bugs subsection, with major bugs listed before minor bugs, annoyances in the Annoyances subsection, with major ones before minor ones, and issues that Jeb has marked as fixed or skipped are moved to the Fixed/Skipped section. Issues that Jeb cannot reproduce, however, are to remain in their original place.

Please sign all issue reports and comments by typing ~~~ (three tildes; tilde may be found above Tab ↹ on USA keyboards, and to the right of @ on British keyboards).

Finally, please do not spontaneously delete an issue report or comment, unless it is patent nonsense submitted by someone who has not logged in. If possible, contact the submitter by user-talk first and tell them about your concerns. They will almost certainly oblige. As always, assume good faith.

Crashing[]

Bugs[]

When the Microsoft Windows shuts down unexpectedly even after exiting the Minecraft, the world cannot be existed on the next restart even being checked by Chkdsk. But, the files in the "saves" folder are still fully preserved. However, when I created a new world that is the same name as the previous world, the world has been overwritten. 112.206.171.184 04:19, 30 December 2011 (UTC)

[!!] [A!] Windows Minecraft Crashes on an Acer Aspire that essentially the same setup as an old dusty HP.. Got no darn idea why, have tested several versions 1.7.3~11w50 they say different things though.

     Minecraft has crashed!

[!!] Windows Minecraft randomly shuts down on some computers, in particular stationary computers, leaving an error report in the folder that Minecraft.exe is played from. This happens when the render distance is set to Normal or Far, and ONLY in the downloadable client. This bug is quite rare, but if you got it, it will happen frequently and be very annoying. This bug has persisted from as far back as Beta 1.5, perhaps even older. It typically happens after about 5 minutes.

  • I can confirm this. Minecraft closes itself after being left minimised for about 5 minutes, and seems to crash if left idle for some longer period of time. Shellface 21:51, 31 December 2011 (UTC)

Redstone[]

Bugs[]

[MP] [!] When you do /time set 0 in your minecraft server the redstone torches acts weird and the most common pulse limiter does not work anymore until you restart the server but it is not guaranteed it will work after the restart (Bug was present in 11w49a as well)

  • This bug is there for a long time ago until beta 1.6
  • Can't reproduce it on other versions than 11w49a and 11w50a, it's only on those versions
  • Reproduced on 1.0.1 server --Sejsel 09:09, 18 December 2011 (UTC)

Blocks[]

Bugs[]

[!] [SP] [Su] There is a double trapdoor bug. This also happens with triple trapdoors. This bug is very similar to the now patched double door bug.

  • I think you accidentally an explanation. Shellface 21:51, 31 December 2011 (UTC)

[!] Dispenser is not causing damage to player (when loaded with arrows).

Annoyances[]

[A] Lilly Pads break boats when you run into them

  • I believe that is supposed to happen. This is also not specific to 11w50a, as I frequently run into this on my v1.0.0/v1.0.1 server (though I wouldn't mind if it was "fixed" anyway, because it is indeed annoying). StalePhish 17:21, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

Fixed/Skipped[]

Enchanting[]

Bugs[]

Annoyances[]

[A] In SMP, if you log out with an enchanted item in your inventory, the enchantment is gone the next time you log in. This does not occur in chests though.

Fixed/Skipped[]

Crafting/Interface[]

Bugs[]

[Cr] When you try to fill a glass bottle with water from a cauldron in creative mode, the bottle disappears.

Annoyances[]

[A] [MP] [Cr] Creative Mode, after throwing a splash potion, it is no longer shown in the hot-bar, however, if you place a crafting bench and right click on it, the splash potion reappears. It would be nice if the potion was it always in the hot-bar, like eggs.

  • My analysis, it seems like splash potions were intended to be thrown infinitely in creative mode, but there exists a client-side glitch that can be cleared by showing the regular (non-creative) inventory. This behavior was present in 1.0.0, 11w48a, and 11w49a.--Inertia 05:22, 10 December 2011 (UTC)

this works with chests to. -ananimous

[A] [SP] [Cr] When you right click on a wolf with a bone in your hand, the bone gets used just like in survival mode. This also happens when you feed a tamed wolf.

Fixed/Skipped[]

Achievements[]

Bugs[]

[X] The "Sniper Duel" achievement does not register when completed.

  • This bug is there for a long time ago until beta 1.8.0
  • Try my fix of client for this version

Gameplay[]

Bugs[]

Annoyances[]

[A] Even after 1.0.0, there is a glitch where you save and exit a level and when you reload it, the redstone repeaters are stopped and sand is missing on pistons powered by a clock.

[A] [MP] When trying to use a spawner egg on my server, I always get disconnected. Please fix.

  • are you on a outdated server check then try again. Doctursea 22:41, 18 December 2011 (UTC)
  • It can't possibly be an outdated server. The spawner eggs were only added in 11w49a.
  • If you are playing on an outdated server but your client is 11w50a the game disconnects when obtaining a spawner egg.

Fixed/Skipped[]

NPC/Animals[]

Bugs[]

Annoyances[]

[A] Wolves turn black a lot (water)

Present in lots of versions. Water lowers light by 3, not 1, so any mobs in the water will become darker. 71.46.222.254 13:25, 16 December 2011 (UTC)
And before someone else asks, the reason it happens in the rain as well is because the isWet() function that determines if an entity is wet (for extinguishing fire, hurting Endermen, making Wolves' texture darker, etc) considers rain to be the same as a water block. The weird thing is, the darker texture only applies to Wolves; other mobs seem to be unaffected. 67.183.5.101 18:58, 16 December 2011 (UTC)
This happens to my wolves when it's raining and they're indoors, so it can't just be the isWet() function.

Fixed/Skipped[]

Mobs[]

Bugs[]

[X] Pigs (maybe even other mobs) in "Minecarts" (even if they are on powered carts) that looped around in a circle disappeared along with the cart after I logged in and out through the period of several days. I have not scene this repeated again or have I retested it.

Annoyances[]

[X] [MP] Mobs can't be hit under their waist.

  • They can, just not when there is a block in front of their face. This is a security feature that just needs some tweaks to allow hitting feet through a one block high hole. LB 19:03, 30 December 2011 (UTC)

World generator[]

Bugs[]

[X] Mushrooms and flowers are sometimes generated flying in the air (esp. in swamps) Marcel083 11:08, 26 December 2011 (UTC)

Graphical[]

Bugs[]

Annoyances[]

[A] The player can't see the cracking animation or what block he is pointing at if he is above water and the block is under water (black lines are not visible). Screenshot

  • This is intended behavior.
    • I find this extremely hard to believe. The only way it would not be a bug would be if it were a technical incapability, like seeing translucent blocks through each other. Shellface 21:51, 31 December 2011 (UTC
    • Have You Pressed F1? If On A Mac Fn + F1? If So That Makes Your Cross-hair, Hand And Hot-bar Disappear Press It Again To Reset The Function Of It.
      • Wat. Wat. Though I'm not really allowed to remove this… seriously? That isn't even relevant, as hiding the HUD doesn't remove block selections boxes and anything applicable to them Shellface 21:08, 4 January 2012 (UTC)

[A] When the player is on top of and looking straight down at a block while mining it, the breaking animation cannot be seen.

  • This does not happen on all computers. It is specific to Intel processors from what I have seen.
    • Not really sure of the exactitude of this. I vaguely recall seeing this on videos made by players with far better… processors? Shellface 21:08, 4 January 2012 (UTC)

[A] When the player enters the portal to leave the End and the credits appear onscreen, the background.png image appears upside-down while it scrolls down the screen (this is more noticeable if you put text or distinct images in it in the texture pack file)

Sound[]

Bugs[]

Annoyances[]

[A] On all submenus before gameplay, a high frequency, low volume sound is emitted. (Personal?)

  • This is happening for all people, it is there since 1.2 (or it is maybe even older). It happens even if you have turned sound off on your computer. --Sejsel
  • That is just not true. It is not happening here. (And it is also the first time I heard of it.) --Gitterrost4
  • I've never noticed any noise while I was in a submenu, even when I have my speakers on really loud. I use a mac, what OS do you use? It may be OS specific.
  • I use windows and it is happening only in Multiplayer menu --Sejsel 15:41, 21 December 2011 (UTC)
  • A while ago minecraft used 100% cpu power when navigated to an empty world submenu. It caused an ungodly whine from my pc and upon further investigation I discovered the existence of the phenomenon known as "capacitor whine". It's not nearly as bad as it used to be, but the main menu still runs at something like 1000-4000 fps (depending on which sub-menu you're in) and I can still hear the whine. The only way to "fix" it is to add a frame limit to the main menu (optifine does this iirc).
  • Perhaps you could give us more specs on your computer so that we can try to see what part of the computer is causing the capacitor whine? This is actually the only time I've ever heard of it. It has never occurred on any mac's that i've used, but i have heard a strange noise coming from the PC's in my school's library when people are playing games on them. i think this has just explained what those weird noises are
  • It's probably the speakers. This happens when there's little or no sound and the volume's high. Could also happen with louder sounds on some speakers.
  • I have this sound on my computer. What you are hearing at 4000fps is a "4000 hertz tone". This is caused by EMI from the video card being picked up by the sound card. You are literally hearing the image. High end sound solutions can have technologies to prevent this. Macs may also have a fps limiter or high end sound, or both. Its an old issue in computing. dec 31--Ericmall

Language[]

Bugs[]

[X] There are various inappropriate translations in German language pack. Marcel083 17:28, 16 December 2011 (UTC)

  • I think it would be helpful, if you gave a list of what you think is inappropriate. --Gitterrost4
  • As I said, these aren't really wrong things, but for those people who have not played the English version, this might help for better understanding: "Dirt" schould be "Schmutz" or "Dreck" instead of "Erde", "Enderman" should be "Enderman" instead of "Endermann" (Spawn Egg), "View Bobbing" should be "Schrittbewegung" instead of "Sichtbewegung", "Coal Ore" should be "Kohleerz" instead of "Kohle", "Balze Rod" should be "Blaze-Stab" instead of "Glühender Stab", "Powered Minecart" should be "angetriebene Lore" instead of "Lokomotive", "Stone Stairs" should be "Steintreppen" instead of "Steinstufen". That's just my opinion though Marcel083 16:17, 21 December 2011 (UTC)
  • The translations you suggest are very word-by-word-ish. The correct translation of "Dirt" is indeed "Dreck", but the intended meaning is "Erde" in the sense of "soil". If you said "Dreck" it would seem as if you are walking through a world whith a top layer of scum. The same goes for Coal/Kohle. In miner's terms you never say Kohleerz, as it is a sediment not an ore. The term that is actually used is Kohle. I do agree that "Lokomotive" is too far from the original meaning but in general you should translate to what is meant, not what has been said.
  • Same goes to any other language, they are poorly translated, and Portuguese (Portugal) has some bad spelling, example "connect" is "conexão" wich is wrong and should be "conecção", Im guessing its the Brazil version of spelling, but there is an option to choose Portuguese (Brazil), in other words, they google translated it all (also, most words on it sound sexual in many ways, thank god they got "hoe" right) 23:57, 21 December 2011 (UTC)

[A!] The Hebrew language pack has the letters and words ordered from left to right, not right to left, as it should be

  • I'd imagine that coding all UI text to display right-left would require another mod, rather than just the language pack. 68.8.52.208
  • I feel like if they just reversed all of the strings in the language file it would be alright. Eg (I don't speak Hebrew, so bear with me) if the way incorrect way was "all cats go", then the correct way would simply be "og stac lla", right? Thus you just need to reverse all of the lines of text (and maybe right align too). Unless I'm misunderstanding the problem in the first place.

[X] In the Spanish Latinoamérica version, "arena" (translation of sand) is written with lowercase, and the wooden door has been translated to "purta de madera" instead of the correct "Puerta de madera". Markoszarrate 17:30, 22 December 2011 (UTC)

[!!] When the cursor is on a archievement icon, minecraft crashes. (In the Italian pack)

Annoyances[]

[A] When using a Unicode language like Japanese, English characters are rendered too small. The most obvious effect is that stack size and other numbers are almost unreadable unless you play in fullscreen. Is it possible to only use the Unicode set for language-specific characters, and use the regular font/default.png for numbers and other untranslated text? Based on the new splashes (like "日本ハロー!"), it can already use two fonts simultaneously... 67.183.5.101 18:54, 16 December 2011 (UTC)

[A] Polish language uses the "thin" CJK (Chinese/Japanese/Korean) font. It's kind of annoying for players used to the standard Minecraft font.

AFAIK Polish has Unicode characters. It's the same bug/annoyance as above. 98.247.200.133 06:28, 25 December 2011 (UTC)
