Known bugs for Weekly Build 11w48a.

Use the Discussion page first before adding any bugs onto this page. Bugs can be confirmed by checking into the discussion page and make sure other people reply to your report and have the same problem.

Organization[]

There is no need to place bullet points before issue labels. Use bullet points only for comments. Be sure to leave a single totally blank line before each new issue (but not before comments), unless the issue appears directly beneath a header.

Please ensure that the bug is tested on a 'vanilla', installation of 11w48a with NO MODS installed

Please specify whether the bug was found on Single Player or Multi Player and Survival or Creative.

Please mark your issue with one of these issue labels: (listed from highest priority to lowest)

  • [!!] = {{bl|!!}} = Critical bug that can crash a Minecraft client or server.
  • [!] = {{bl|!}} = Major bug. Use this tag sparingly; if there is consensus your bug is not major, it will be downgraded.
  • [A!] = {{bl|a!}} = Major annoyance. Think very carefully before flagging an annoyance as major. Is it really more important than most minor bugs? Use this tag sparingly; if there is consensus your annoyance is not major, it will be downgraded.
  • [X] = {{bl}} = Minor bug.
  • [A] = {{bl|a}} = Annoyance.
  • [?] = {{bl|?}} = Potential issue that you are unsure of or that the community (on the discussion page) believes requires further vetting. Note: do not use this label to indicate this-is-not-a-bug; instead, replace the issue's current label with [A] or [A!]. Furthermore, it is inappropriate to use this to flag something you disagree with; instead, express your opinion in a comment. When you apply this label to an issue, place it after the issue's existing labels; do not remove those labels.

Labels for indicating that an issue happens only in a particular game mode: (These labels cannot stand alone; you must use them in addition to, not instead of, the ones listed above.)

  • [SP] = {{bl|sp}} = Single-player.
  • [MP] = {{bl|mp}} = Multiplayer.
  • [Su] = {{bl|su}} = Survival mode.
  • [Cr] = {{bl|cr}} = Creative mode.

Labels for indicating that an issue is restricted to a particular OS:

  • macOS = {{OS|OSX}} = Mac OS
  • Windows = {{OS|Win}} = Windows
  • Linux = {{OS|Linux}} = Linux

Labels that Mojang uses:

  • [F] = Bugs that have been fixed in the next update.
  • [N] = This is not a bug. (It is intended behaviour and will not be changed)
  • [S] = Bugs that will be skipped/ignored for now.
  • [U] = Bugs that Mojang tested but was unable to reproduce. Append this tag to the end of existing issue labels, instead of replacing them.

To produce these labels, use the following code: {{bl|c}} where c is the code of the label you wish to use. (e.g., a for annoyances, etc.)

The default issue type is minor bug; you can produce this label with the shorthand {{bl}}.

Be sure to sort issues by category, type, and priority: redstone issues go in the Redstone section, etc.; bugs go in the Bugs subsection, with major bugs listed before minor bugs, annoyances in the Annoyances subsection, with major ones before minor ones, and issues that Jeb has marked as fixed or skipped are moved to the Fixed/Skipped section. Issues that Jeb cannot reproduce, however, are to remain in their original place.

Please sign all issue reports and comments by typing ~~~ (three tildes; tilde may be found above Tab ↹ on USA keyboards, and to the right of @ on British keyboards).

Finally, please do not spontaneously delete an issue report or comment, unless it is patent nonsense submitted by someone who has not logged in. If possible, contact the submitter by user-talk first and tell them about your concerns. They will almost certainly oblige. As always, assume good faith.

Bugs[]

[X] [Cr] [MP] [?] In creative mode, empty buckets do not work. 0.5 seconds after the source block is removed, it returns. Clicking multiple times doesn't help

  • Are you an op?
    • Yes I am.
      • In creative the sources are meant to be infinite. Place blocks to remove it if that is your objective. Cool12309(Talk|Contributions|Sandbox)
        • Incorrect. Buckets were changed in creative to allow quick draining of lakes and such. I assume the op is trying to remove water that is between other source blocks and has a block under it, thus it is being recreated. Kedama 12:45, 7 December 2011 (UTC)

[X] When Ice is melted it becomes water, but does not flow outward until an adjacent block updates.

[X] Farmland Can now be trampled when blocks and particle effects land on them. For example, when you harvest fully grown wheat, the wheat and seeds that fall from the harvested block can trample any farmland it touches. Farmland may also be trampled by particle effects such as rain (needs to be tested).

  • That's how it's supposed to be. --CreeperCraftSss 22:57, 5 December 2011 (UTC)
    • Not really. Rain ruining all crops doesn't make sense for starters and would require every farm to be roofed. Also crops being trampled from items landing on it makes harvesting a massive pain, since harvesting 1 wheat will destroy nearby wheat if the wheat or seeds land on them. Kedama 12:47, 7 December 2011 (UTC)

[X] Lilypads are grey when held, both on SSP and when seen on SMP.

This seems to also happen with vines. Will check with leaves and tall grass later. IntangibleWaffle 08:37, 6 December 2011 (UTC)

[X] [?] A chest doesn't close in SMP when another chest is directly behind it and 1 block higher than the first one.

  • Chests are always getting stuck open for various reasons, and this is a 1.8 bug if this was just a general stuck-open scenario. (This needs to be removed from the 11w48a specific bug list.)

[X] Wolves are black when in rain and water.

Are you sure this isn't just with some graphics cards?
I also have the same problem
I Also Have Exact Same Problem, When They Shake Outside Of Water They Turn Normal Again.

[X] Wolves don't spawn any more in SMP and Fern too ;_;

Yes, they do. I've tried it, have tamed one, they stick around.

[A] [?] (maybe [N] ) Doors cannot be placed on glowstone anymore.

new property of glowstone :(MiiNiPaaT|C

[X] In the vanilla game in SMP when a player eats a food item that would put them over their maximum hunger meter, the extra is "saved" in a hidden buffer so that the overflow doesn't get wasted.

…So? Shellface 23:18, 5 December 2011 (UTC)

[X] You cannot activate a nether portal if there's an obsidian block in front of where you lit flint and steel.

[X] NPCs can walk over fences in SMP.

[X] TNT Exploding Over Skylimit Blows up Anything Near Bedrock (Including Bedrock)in SMP

[X] Snow naturally generated on lava in SMP.

[X] Floating snow naturally generated in snow biome.

[X] Lakes can spawn inside of oceans, causing a frozen ocean to have "craters" of ice.

[X] Glowstone drops dust with hand. (It's not a bug, Jens changed it from stone to glass. -AtomicScrap)

[X] Huge mushrooms CANT be grown by applying bone meal to a small red or brown mushroom that is lying on dirt.

Are you sure you're giving it enough space? Shellface 18:28, 6 December 2011 (UTC)

[X] Many times mobs and animals spawn on trees or IN an normal block ( the block cant be destroyed and the mob cant be killed ).

[X] Minecart with Chests switch sides whether are in a rail or not.
[X] Minecart with Chests don't have the opening or closing animation and the opening or closing sound.

[X] Exp appears to be lost when teleporting from nether to real world.

[X] End realm Exp disappearing when you come back from The End.
Probably false. Works perfectly fine for me. Shellface 14:27, 4 December 2011 (UTC)

[X] Experience Orbs seem to count Ice blocks as non-solid, and will fall through them.

[X] When stepping from a transparent block onto soul sand with nether wart growing on it, the character will occasionally fall through.

This happens for 2 adjacent blocks of soul sand when they are sprinted into in a 2 block high space

great for secret bases not so good when above lava.--Ash0011 14:44, 6 December 2011 (UTC)

[X] Cave Spiders acts as a normal Spider, it attacks but there's no poison effect.[Bug began on 1.8, and it's still on-going]

Easy Difficulty. Shellface 23:16, 5 December 2011 (UTC)

[X] The backside of a Mooshroom is not textured correctly when using a texturepack, the texture appears upside down.

Annoyances[]

[A] [MP] The hearts animation doesn't dissapear after breeding

[A] [MP] Jeb fixed the bug that when a chunk gets unloaded and you return that chunk, redstone clocks will still work without the need replacing a repeater. However, when you leave the server and log in again, the mechanism will be stuck, so you have to replace the repeater again.

[A] [?] Hydrated Farmland (planted with pumkinseed, melonseed, wheat and unplanted) will "decay" becoming a dirt block by rain (is rain an entity?, see next post). (testet twice in survival)

  • You mean an unplanted farmland block? I tested this and none of my crops popped out. See paulsoaresjr's video, he also tested it.
    • looks like it happens only if a block(in my case fence and dirtblock) is next to the plants.

[A] Glowstone acts like glass which disallows fences to be connected to it, items to pop out of it, items to be placed on it, and to mine it with a bare hand and still get glowstone dust. (I know Jeb_ said it is now the new behavior, but Notch confirmed that it was supposed to act like stone back in 1.6.6)

  • This is an intentional change made in 1.0.0
    • Still an annoyance.
      • Then it's not a bug. It's simple enough.

[A] Block selection outlines cannot be seen through the surface of water. Screenshot

  • This also includes the breaking animation when you break blocks underwater while looking from outside the water.
    • It's been like that for the past few years! --CreeperCraftSss 22:58, 5 December 2011 (UTC)
      • Doesn't mean its not a bug. Kedama 12:52, 7 December 2011 (UTC)

[A] You can't see water blocks behind a portal block.

  • That might not be a bug. As the Nether is not a place for water, its portal might not support water either. --CreeperCraftSss 22:58, 5 December 2011 (UTC)
    • It is a bug. Its because of the way translucency is handled in Minecraft. You cant see water behind other water blocks either Kedama 12:51, 7 December 2011 (UTC)

[A] Old one but still : minecarts are blinking while being ridden and looking backward --kajika 18:17, 6 December 2011 (UTC)

[A] RAM usage increase after entering the nether (even if you come back) --kajika 18:17, 6 December 2011 (UTC)

[A] Bonemeal should work on sugar cane and cacti

[A] Huge mushrooms should grow on any block without turning it to dirt

[A] TNT shouldent sould like grass when placed and steped on

  • This is intentional.

[A] Lighting issues should be fixed with some graphic cards
