[!!] Major crashes when near Iron Golems, due to their feet particles. Can be fixed by turning off particles in settings. Source of both crash reports below. SSP and SMP are affected. --User:Kizzycocoa 01:54, 4 November 2012 (UTC)

[!!] When looking at a certain position the game crashes. When I looked at a village i thought the Ender Portal was the one doing this but its not. Here is the report.

  • I also get this error, It seems to be with Golems as I can fix the crash by removing them with MCEdit or moving myself away from the entity so it's not loaded. Crash Report: http://pastebin.com/L4KnTD82 --Tripplehelix 17:17, 3 November 2012 (UTC)
This is most likely the Iron Golem crash bug. try to set your particle settings to "minimal". --User:Kizzycocoa 19:20, 4 November 2012 (UTC)

[!!] Random crash on my 1.0 village survival world, seed is gimmeabreak. It crashed as soon as i transferred a piece of light grey wool to a different slot in a chest. Note that the world was lagging every 4 seconds or so for a while, then it stopped after i died lost in the nether. While i am glad i died and made it home correctly, i still lost my diamond armor, although since i have almost 3 stacks of diamonds this may not be an issue :D. Crash report below, note that it is similar to the one above:

Edit: World is no longer playable, keeps crashing with the same error. Trigger hurt 02:07, 4 November 2012 (UTC)

Found a way to fix, downgrade back to 1.4.2 fixes the issue, and the world was playable then. What is wrong with iron golems? My village did have one, but it was off wandering somewhere far away. Also i'm having another issue with the village: The villagers seem not to accept any houses past the few on my side of the village. There are about 5 or 6 other suitable houses, all have lighting and doors. but i found an interesting fact: Villagers will not go into my bedroom in one of their houses, because of the door rotation. They tried to open it, they rammed into it (and it was very annoying...), but they could not open it until i broke and replaced the door so it would have normal rotation. And i now believe that this is why none of the other houses are being found as suitable. When i get home tonight, i will try replacing all of the doors so they follow normal rotation, that oughta do it. Trigger hurt 12:35, 5 November 2012 (UTC)

[!!] Happened when shift clicking into a chest, says it's a particle problem for some reason though. Oh reading another report and it could be because there were iron golems nearby in the village. --MFINN23

[!] You can place blocks and other things when you are in adventure mode, i use command blocks to get adventure mode, is that bug using command blocks getting adventure mode and you can place block ect. things instead using /gamemode 2 and cannot place anything....

Intended feature, you are allowed to place blocks, but you can only break blocks with the proper tools. For example, you cannot chop a tree with your bare hands, but you can use an axe to do so. How you acquire the axe is up to the map creator. Trigger hurt 15:07, 7 November 2012 (UTC)

[X] Tripwires, glass, and buttons can be broken with hands in adventure mode.

[X] Water is "stronger" than the player.

I'd like to upgrade this to [!] , because it makes it impossible to swim up if the stream is flowing down. So if you are digging down under water, you can't escape. Simple death trap = 2 block deep hole of water, with a source block only on the top.
I can almost see this is a feature. Think about it: In real life, could you swim against/up flowing water? It would be impossible without some kind of help. Although it is annoying, and is probably a bug, it seems like a feature. Trigger hurt 13:50, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
Seconded, this should be upgraded. Building/digging underwater can lead to you being trapped (not just slowed, but trapped) under a current now, ending in your death. As for realism, why would digging and building create a lone current on the ocean floor? If this is supposed to be a feature, they haven't really thought it through. AW8 01:02, 5 November 2012 (UTC)

[!] Achievement "The End ?" still NOT obtainable in WIN 1.4.3pre SSP + CSP (Win7Ulti x64 J7u7 x64)

  • Downgraded to major bug, if it cannot crash your game, but a major feature of the game does not function properly, then it is a major bug. If when performing a specific action the game crashes, then that would be a critical bug. In what way is it not obtainable? What prevents you from obtaining this achievement? Trigger hurt 13:57, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
    • I know the difference between critical (game-crashing) bug and normal (non-game-crashing) bug, cause I'm able to read and understand the rules of marking, but I marked it as CRITICAL cause it seems no one even noticed my post on Issue/1.4.2 page so marking it as CRITICAL seems the only way to get attention. To awnser your question : following this wiki "The End ?" is triggered by entering the end portal. So if someone say : "It's not obtainable." it should be clear that there is a major bug wich prevents triggering the achievement when its condition gets triggered. From a developers view I would guess the triggering code was altered or was programmed in a way so it depends on more than just the needed event gets triggered. Quote : "(in 1.4.2 SMP a bug can cause this when entering a Nether Portal from Nether)" (from : Achievements) Looks like this is a well known bug, so why a developer write this text instead of working on fixing it ? Seriously : sometimes I really wonder about where the money from buying MC gets to.
      • But what makes it not achievable? does the game crash when entering a portal? is the ender dragon invincible? did no strongholds generate on a specific seed? just saying it is not obtainable does not explain what makes it not obtainable. Trigger hurt 01:52, 4 November 2012 (UTC)

[X] Cobblestonewalls can be jumped over, i don't know if jump height is increased or the walls now have a block height of 1, but every single animal pen i have that uses cobblestone walls has almost all the animals escaped. --82.41.229.59 10:17, 4 November 2012 (UTC)

Did an enderman place a block by chance to let the animals escape? Trigger hurt 15:07, 7 November 2012 (UTC)

[!] while playing on a smp vanilla server, me and another person were building in the end, at the lowest height possible to build, when he fell off of the platform and got stuck at the "bottom" of the end. I jumped down too and got stuck. We could walk around and place blocks above us, but not below us, and we couldn't sprint or jump. since the server was only on normal, with no pvp, we couldn't get out by death. we tried relogging but that did not help. also, we tried /kill and it is not allowed for non-ops, which doesn't make sense since it is basically a suicide command, not for killing other players. --JNRM3 02:38, 6 November 2012 (UTC)

That IS a bug noted in the update log, and a strange one. hopefully they will fix this. Trigger hurt 15:07, 7 November 2012 (UTC)

[A] Not really sure what happened there, but I AFKed at my mob trap with a full hunger bar and saturation. When I came back later, I was dead due to starvation. --77.189.49.57 01:39, 2 November 2012 (UTC)

  • We need more specific details, how long did you go AFK, what was the difficulty? If it was hardcore, and you went AFK for about 2 hours, then that is why, since starvation kills you in hardcore/hard more. Trigger hurt 13:50, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
  • I've been watching a Youtube video and was like 11 minutes into that video when I decided to check back, so that's about the time I've been AFK. And yes, I play on hard, but - as I said - my hunger bar was full and I was still saturated. Hunger does not go down when standing still, so I shouldn't lose any hunger while AFK, even on hard difficulty. --77.189.49.57 14:05, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
  • Actually, hunger does go down when standing still, just very gradually. Did you have any potion effects on you? Did you eat rotten flesh or raw chicken? Was this SMP? Trigger hurt 14:34, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
  • I didn't have any potion effects on me (anymore), but I did, in fact, eat poisonous potatoes as far as I remember. But seriously, can a full hunger bar go down that quickly (in like 12 minutes or so)? If yes, then this is what caused my death and we can delete this entry. Thanks for your input and help. --77.189.60.121 20:08, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
  • What time of day was it when u went AFK? Is it possible a zombie or something killed you?were you in the wilderness? because 12 minutes is almost 3/4 of a day, and if you were in the wilderness it is very likely that something killed you and ran off. Or a creeper exploded. Trigger hurt 01:55, 4 November 2012 (UTC)
  • Again, my death message was "starved to death" (read my initial comment). No creeper, no zombie, no whatsoeveer. And I do not AFK in the wilderness. --77.189.77.49 22:00, 4 November 2012 (UTC)
  • Was this SMP? Is it possible that you were playing SMP and an admin used some kind of server command to starve you? Also the saturation meter will only be filled certain amounts for certain foods, what food did you eat before you went AFK? if it was cake, then there is a possibility. Trigger hurt 12:28, 5 November 2012 (UTC)
  • I've never played SMP before, it was singleplayer. And I seriously don't remember anymore what food that was. Might have either been steak or a poisonous potato (but I'm pretty sure I've got steak after that and then went AFK). Anyways, when I went AFK, my hunger bar was full, the poison effect was already over and my saturation was greater than 0 (as my hunger bar did not bounce). And as far as I know, you really do not lose hunger by standing still. At least, I've never lost anything before and I've been AFK previously for much longer than those 12 minutes. --77.7.166.168 23:19, 5 November 2012 (UTC)
  • Did you watch the video over and over for an while? Is it possible that it just felt like 12 minutes? From what i know, there is an issue with one of the .jar files, but i can't remember it's title, that may not remember you letting go of your keys, and keep minecraft thinking that you are moving. When you returned to your screen, were you in a different spot? I've got nothing else. Trigger hurt 15:03, 7 November 2012 (UTC)
  • Both no, I've died in exactly the spot I left the game and it hasn't been in front of a wall or so, but in the middle of my chamber. And no, I did not watch the video over and over. In fact, I had to stop watching it as Youtube couldn't load it fast enough. That's why I took the time to check back in the game after those 11-12 minutes in order to give the video some time to load the rest. Anyway, I appreciate your help, but I can't simply understand how that death was possible. --77.187.159.94 13:26, 8 November 2012 (UTC)

Blocks[]

Bugs

[!] When alot of pistons fire at the same time, some pistons might not remove Block 34, which is the piston extension arm, crashing the piston. You have to remove the piston arm block manually by destroying it. This is a major bug, since it crashes the use of pistons in automatic farms and such. --86.80.164.124 12:35, 3 November 2012 (UTC)

  • It's act like fence. It's not a bug. --31.46.133.227 10:06, 3 November 2012 (UTC)
  • He's saying that it is possible to jump over stone walls, and since they act like fences, you should not be able to do that. Therefor making it a bug. Trigger hurt 02:00, 4 November 2012 (UTC)

[X] Walking near or on top of chests makes you clip into them. --77.189.49.57 01:36, 2 November 2012 (UTC)

  • Seems only to happen with double chests. --77.189.49.57 14:28, 2 November 2012 (UTC)

[X] The chest closing animation is buggy. Sometimes, when doing stuff in a chest for a longer period of time, the chest closes (not the GUI, just the chest). And most of the time it doesn't close at all when leaving the GUI. --77.189.49.57 14:16, 2 November 2012 (UTC)

More specifically, if you open a chest for an extended period of time, about 12 seconds, the chest sounds like it closed, but it looks open. Opening this chest then closing it after waiting for the sound to go away will close it. for a short while after, the chest will not open, like chests before the 1.8 update, and makes no sound. [A] When a retracted sticky piston is retracted by another, it does not take any block it has next to the head with it. --190.186.108.11 20:04, 2 November 2012 (UTC)

Annoying as it is, that is intended, since sticky pistons do not stick to blocks, but rather they can pull them back as well as push them.

[A] Large jungle trees do not generate with side way logs like oak trees do. (This has been left unnoticed since 1.3.2.)122.108.64.42 12:40, 3 November 2012 (UTC)

  • You have a point there, they should probably generate similar to the oak trees with the sideways logs.

[A] Chest lids are staying open until I enter the chest a second time. --MFINN23

  • Same thing happens for, whilst i'm in the chest inventory, but when i exit that one, it stays open, until i rightclick it again, then it closes, etc. 195.84.42.5 07:30, 7 November 2012 (UTC)

[X] Torches can not be put on top of a block, if there is a block next to it, that is one meter higher. The torch automatically "clings" to the side of the higher block.

  • What block were you attempting to place the torch on? If it was a non solid block, then that is why. Also, please sign your posts with four tildes (~~~~)! You can sign posts regardless of whether you have an account or not. Trigger hurt 13:53, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
  • I can confirm this bug. It has nothing to do with transparent blocks. You can try this yourself (most probably). Try to put down a torch on the floor in the corner of a room out of solid blocks. The torch will attach itself to the wall. --77.189.60.121 20:10, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
  • Watch Etho's latest LP episode (230) to see this bug in action. --77.189.60.121 01:28, 3 November 2012 (UTC)
  • It's even worst : dig a block just in front of you. But a torch on a face of the hole. Repeat on the three other faces : the torch will attach only one face (i.e. east), it looks like the S/E quirck. I saw this while building a tunnel, all the torches went to the opposite side of the face I clicked.Goufalite 10:16, 5 November 2012 (UTC)
