Since the migration of this site, all schematics show up as the exact same rectangluar set of hyphens, dashes and slashes and some cut-off "#f" message in the middle. This renders all the very helpful pages that we had before on red stone circuits useless. I have copied and pasted the rectangular section. The paste doesn't show it the same but certainly what it shows is no schematic. |

Revision as of 18:34, 26 September 2013
Have you found a problem since the migration? Have problems with your username?
KNOWN ISSUES
Please read this before posting your issue
- Broken userpages
- Something went awry with our usermerge script. Our dev team is working on a solution. In the meantime, DO NOT edit your userpage (old or new) as this will create problems when they do try to fix it. This should be fixed on the English, Chinese, Dutch, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish and Russian wikis. If you still have issues with your userpages not appearing correctly, post it on this page and it will be addressed on an individual level.
- Broken articles
- If you find an article that gives you the error "The database did not find the text of a page that it should have found,..." simply click on Edit and then save the page. This should fix it.

Account Migration issues
Today I received an Email from noreply@curse.com saying my account failed to automatically migrate to Curse's central system due to a naming conflict, and my account was renamed. I was told that the next time I log in I would be asked to claim an existing account or choose a new name. However, I cannot remember my password, and the password reset system says my Email Address is not in the database. It clearly IS in the database, or I wouldn't have received the Email. I also suspect that creating a new account will cause both another naming conflict and an Email Address conflict. At least it would be, if I could get past an error message when creating a new account that simply says " <asirra-edit> ." In fact, asirra-edit seems to be a common theme on account creation/login pages.
- Odd. I got an email from them saying my account was merged successfully, mainly because I manually merged it as soon as it was migrated to the new Gamepedia platform. --KamranMackey (talk) 19:07, 20 September 2013 (UTC)
- Unfortunately Kamran, you merged in TOO early, and it created problems. We will be working on resolving the issue starting Monday morning (Central US time). -- Wynthyst talk 05:56, 22 September 2013 (UTC)

I have noticed that on the development versions page, new edits are not showing up, even by registered users, not sure if this is happening on other pages, but it moght. --75.18.40.239 12:38, 20 September 2013 (UTC)

Potato
Resolved |

The page for Potato appears to be broken—maybe because of the migration? It's giving me this message: "The database did not find the text of a page that it should have found, named 'Potato.' This is usually caused by following an outdated diff or history link to a page that has been deleted. If this is not the case, you may have found a bug in the software. Please report this to an administrator, making note of the URL." (I would link to it but it won't let me since I'm an unregistered user.) --76.19.67.114 10:25, 20 September 2013 (UTC) |

Usernames
Says that my old username, "Mavik", is no longer available, yet there is no user with that name. Bug?
Mavik73724 (talk) 10:32, 20 September 2013 (UTC)
- Someone must already have the username Mavik on Curse.com. I will forward this to our Community Liaison and he will assist you in getting this resolved. -- Wynthyst talk 10:36, 20 September 2013 (UTC)
- Are you sure this isn't like the problem I had above, where numbers get put randomly into the name? Numbermaniac (talk) 11:25, 20 September 2013 (UTC)
It gave me the numbers when it said that my username was already taken.
Mavik73724 (talk) 19:53, 20 September 2013 (UTC)
- At that point you should have been given an option to choose a different username and a display name and it would have created a new Curse account for you (without all the numbers). That is what we need to address. Wynthyst talk 20:36, 20 September 2013 (UTC)
So can you do anything for me?
Mavik73724 (talk) 00:51, 21 September 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, if you see the note at the top, we are going to address individual user name issues next week (sorry, I need the help of the guys who have direct server access for it, and they are off for the weekend). I'm sorry for the delay. -- Wynthyst talk 02:02, 21 September 2013 (UTC)
Alright, thank you
Mavik73724 (talk) 13:14, 21 September 2013 (UTC)
- Mavik, what would you prefer your username to be (Mavik is taken)? -- Wynthyst talk 16:34, 23 September 2013 (UTC)
- Mavik, your account has been merged to User:Mavik00 I hope that solves the problem. -- Wynthyst talk 22:02, 23 September 2013 (UTC)
Can't log in
Resolved |
---|
This is funky3000 speaking here. I can't log into my account. I've tried my username 3 times and I know for a fact it's right. My problem is my password. I tried my password for this twice along with a variation of my password I sometimes use just in case it was the wrong one. If I need to email any information for my account to Ultradude, Wynthyst, or any other admin, I'd be more than happy to do so. Just now tried using my email instead to see if that would work, got a strange error. "<asirra-edit>" So I can't really do anything besides this or get a new account until this issue is resolved. 71.86.183.208 10:31, 20 September 2013 (UTC)
_zombiehunter speaking here: I have the same problem. Typed in correct username and password several times, but login always failed saying "Incorrect password entered. Please try again.". It worked fine a week ago, but now, meh :-( @Lennbot: Tried that too, didn't work. |
Primary686 here. I can't login either, but I can't even get to the login PAGE. Instead, this comes up:
The type initializer for 'Curse.Auth.NetworkService' threw an exception. ---> There is already a listener on IP endpoint 0.0.0.0:8085. This could happen if there is another application already listening on this endpoint or if you have multiple service endpoints in your service host with the same IP endpoint but with incompatible binding configurations. ---> Only one usage of each socket address (protocol/network address/port) is normally permitted
Any help would be appreciated. ;)

Username
Is there any way to change my Curse name? I want people to know me as Sparkpin, not my brother. Sparksammy (talk) 11:34, 20 September 2013 (UTC)
- You would need to create a new Curse.com account using a different email address. Then we could unlink your wiki account from the current Curse account, and link it to the new one. -- Wynthyst talk 11:49, 20 September 2013 (UTC)

Merging users
Glad to see wikies alive and running, but there is a total mess with users. Should I do something particular to merge my old account data (now renamed to Norrius<id>) with my Curse account on the wiki? Also userpages... They all are like User123 (User:User123) now. It is going to be fixed, right?
Also styles have been corrupted and autocompleting/guessing in the search isn't working anymore. Norrius (talk) 12:18, 20 September 2013 (UTC)
- Hello, please try going to Special:CurseUserMerge to manually start the merge process. Btarsa (talk) 15:26, 20 September 2013 (UTC)
- It says The provided merge key was invalid or has expired. Please go back and log in again. I tried logging in and off, no result. Norrius (talk) 16:14, 20 September 2013 (UTC)
- Ok, try Special:WikiAccountRecovery next then. Also, for the styles you will have to move your personal css files to User:Username/Hydra.css or User:Username/Common.css. Search is a known issue, decisions were made at a higher level than our team to switch to a new system that will take some time to build the index. Expect it to be working perfectly again soon. CRSBenjamin - (talk) 20:35, 20 September 2013 (UTC)
- Norrius, there seems to be some issues specific to the Russian wiki with the user merges that we need to investigate and work on resolving. Please be patient and ask your community to be patient with me as we work through this stuff (I think it has to do with the Cyrillic text but don't hold me to that). I will be putting all my attention on resolving these problems for the Russian community once I get through the issues on the English wiki. -- Wynthyst talk 06:02, 22 September 2013 (UTC)

Userboxes
Becuase Userboxes are on Userpages a lot of them have been broken. some one needs to find some way to fix this.--007a83 (Talk|Contribs) 13:20, 20 September 2013 (UTC)
- Can you give me an example or two? For cases where a user has assumed a new username because of the merge, people using boxes from that user's space may have to update their links accordingly. Btarsa (talk) 15:30, 20 September 2013 (UTC)
- It's because many users had the random number issue, where their entire userspace was moved to their name with a random number in it. Uness something can be dealt with server side, we may have to manually find the users who experienced this and move their spaces back.

Slow loading
I don't really know if this is related to the migration, but since the Minecraft Wiki has migrated I sometimes get really long loadtimes on trying to read or edit a page. Does anyone else experience this? I'm from the Netherlands. --DdgMC (talk) 14:56, 20 September 2013 (UTC)
- This should begin to resolve soon. Its most likely residual trouble from the failures at the data center yesterday. When everything is back at full-steam load times should be less than they were before the migration. Btarsa (talk) 15:32, 20 September 2013 (UTC)

Century Link Problem

- These are probably accounts that did not merge correctly. Please try /Spezial:CurseUserMerge and see if that can resolve the problem. If not, maybe provide us with a clear example so we can look into it, thanks. Btarsa (talk) 16:05, 20 September 2013 (UTC)

If I try "Spezial:CurseUserMerge" (without Slash) I get this message: "Account Merge Error - The provided merge key was invalid or has expired. Please go back and log in again." - Yes, its an issue that when we try to fix the problem, if there is other text on the destination page it can cause problems. Either we can work to fix it, or you can move/re-create the userpage, but not both. If you would prefer to have your user page migrated by us, please leave the "new" userpage blank. The user merge page will only work for folks who are not merged, if you have already merged sucessfully it will give you that error. CRSBenjamin - (talk) 16:51, 20 September 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for your answer and your hard work to fix this not-Curse-related problem. I understood this: you try to fix the problem for all users in all wikis automatically. Contribs - de.Wiki Admin 08:23, 21 September 2013 (UTC)- Unfortunately it doesn't work. I waited three days after the "works now" rendition, because previously MediaWiki took some time to update things. And really, there is a minor effect to see. Three days ago my example-search-word "wikipedia" brought 3 results, now there are five. But before the migration I started to work on the German "commands" article and made a note that the search-word "befehl" (command) was found 62 times. I need all these results for my work. But now the search is listing only the article-page and nothing more. Search for "block": two results. For "item": one. It should be hundreds. I'll just continue patiently with waiting, but I wanted to say, the problem is not resolved. Sumpfhütte --93.214.235.26 09:44, 24 September 2013 (UTC)
- Hopefully you can help me. As a wiki author I need a working search-function. Before the migration I noticed that the search-function didn't really show all results so I appreciate a new and better search-function. But the new search really don't work even one week after the migration. Try Special:Search, type e.g. "block" and click "Everything". The result is a page named "Block" an one additional result. One! It should be hundreds. Interesting point: at the right side of the page it says: "Result 1 of 1,616,648 for block" - strange... I waited several days because you said a library must be built. I noticed that some day more results where shown than the day before (but far not enough), and the next day... less! - strange... Do you have any information for me how this could be solved? It must not be immediately if you have more important issues, but one week after the migration I have a long list of things which I need to fix in the wiki texts - if the search would only work. Even Google shows more results than the wiki (e.g. if you google for "minecraft.gamepedia.com block") Sumpfhuette (talk) 17:00, 26 September 2013 (UTC)

about the merge options
I found the merge options are little bit unclear of their function. Does the first one meant our curse username does not match our wiki username let us select the wiki username that we want to use? and we choose the second on when we want our wiki username to be the same as the curse account? —Powup333 ZH Admin 21:35, 20 September 2013 (UTC)

- Again, this is a compounded problem. First, there are too many instances of certain templates on that page, and secondly it's just too big. It times out while it's trying to load. I have separated out enough so that it will currently load, but it still needs a lot of work to be cut down to a reasonable size. Just break it up into subpages, and link in the subpages, (or put them behind page load things like you guys did some of the nav boxes. Or, better yet, do both, separate data out to subpages, and then transclude them back using page loader mechanics, so that if people want that specific information it will only load if they ask for it. -- Wynthyst talk 18:01, 26 September 2013 (UTC)
Display name problem?
Why is it that names on edit and links to userpages show like this "User1 (User:User1)". I am assuming that 'User1" is the display name and "(User:User1)" is the username. But why is it shown for people whos display name is the same as there Username?--007a83 (Talk|Contribs) 01:20, 21 September 2013 (UTC)
- When we were instructed to offer Display names, we had to come up with the best solution we could. Since MediaWiki simply will not recognize display names properly, this was the best we could do. There's no practical way for it to only display it for people with different display names as account names.. but we are always open to alternative solutions should one of you geniuses come up with something that can be applied globally. -- Wynthyst talk 02:10, 21 September 2013 (UTC)

User page showing second newest revision after editing
Nice to see the Wiki is running. I tried to update a template on my user page. I changed the lines "| version = 1.3" to "| version = 1.3.1" and "| minecraft version = 1.6.2" to "| minecraft version = 1.6.4" near the bottom of the source of the page. When I saved the page, it still displayed the page as it was pre-edit. I pressed Edit again, and the source displayed "1.3.1" and "1.6.4" as I wanted. I did a minor change to the page again, and this time the page correctly displayed "1.3.1" and "1.6.4" from the first edit, however the latest edit was not displayed. I pressed Edit and Save, then the last edit appeared as well. It seems to me as this is a bug, I hope it can be corrected :) Bilde2910 (talk) 13:59, 22 September 2013 (UTC)
- I used Shift+F5 (Chrome) to refresh the page several times. Shift+F5 will force a reload, ignoring cache. There was no change until I re-edited the page. Null edits work, but it's really annoying having to do one every time I want to edit a page :( Also, when I edit this issue page, the changes show up immediately, whereas on the user template I referenced, it does not. Capitalization in Username
On the Minecraft Forums my name is in lower-case, and that's the way I like it. On this wiki, it is in upper-case for the first letter of my name. I don't know if this was intended, but could you please override it somehow to be in all lower case? Awsmazinggenius (talk) 03:50, 26 September 2013 (UTC)
This is not a Gamepedia migration issue, this is a common limitation of the wiki software. There is no way to force a lowercase first letter for usernames or articles. There is formatting code to display a lowercase first letter on your userpage, as well as your signature on talk pages, but it is just for show. —Kanegasi ☺C

I just have a feeling that this will be a problem for other users. In the next update, can you please implement this?
- No there's nothing to implement. This is a core limitation in the MediaWiki software. It is impossible for you to have a lower case letter at the beginning of your username, or of any article (page) on this wiki. So regardless of what your personal preferences are, or anyone else's this is not something that is going to change.... unless and until the developers of MediaWiki change it (which I don't see happening). Thus this topic is going to be marked as resolved again. -- Wynthyst talk 05:08, 26 September 2013 (UTC)

Hi Curse-Team! This is new in German Wiki, we didn't have this before: automatic Spam-Users. You can identify them by the following attributes: they create a user page immediately in the same second as they log in; the user page has some text modules with random names, names of parents, hobbies, locations etc. but not one word about Minecraft; the user page is completely in english (or spanish) - and we are speaking about the German Wiki; the user page contains two links, named "more info", "my hometown" or "my blog" to Spam-pages in Japan, Croatia, Poland etc. In the the last two days we had those Spam-users:
Our administrators are deleting them. I'm not sure if they are real persons sitting somewhere and copying text modules in new created gamepedia-accounts, getting 0,001 cent per copy, or if they are web-bots. Maybe you have a possibility to do something against it. Otherwise our admins have a new task: deleting users every day... Sumpfhuette (talk) 07:49, 23 September 2013 (UTC)

In general, revealed some of the nuances. The rest of you very much! (If you could write a hyphen in the login ...)- Google translate/ Ivan r (talk) 18:08, 24 September 2013 (UTC)

- Ivan-r, your user name should be fixed now. Just log out of Minecraft Wiki and then log back in. Azxiana (talk) 15:16, 24 September 2013 (UTC)
Curse. Google translate: Unfortunately it worked only on the site itself Gamepedia, to spread Curse of the settings, wiki (as these, and Russian) name change were not affected. I think you will not be able to help me in any way. I will find a way that would speak to the representatives Gamepedia or Curse. 165 (talk) 12:43, 24 September 2013 (UTC)
- I granted you an account rename credit. Please log into Gamepedia.com and you will be asked to rename your account. Google Translate: "Я предоставил вам кредитный счет переименования. Пожалуйста, войдите в Gamepedia.com и вам будет предложено переименовать свой аккаунт." Azxiana (talk) 17:13, 23 September 2013 (UTC)

Resolved |

hello, i dont know if is something that have to do with the migration to gamepedia or not, but still is something i belive need to be fixed and i hope this minecraft wiki on english is the right place to ask for. at this english minecraft wiki, when someone want to add a link on a word that redirects to a reference on wikipedia one have to do the following
Example: API thats usefull at the english version of this wiki, www.minecraftwiki.net ( now minecraft.gamepedia.com ) to show a example right now to be very clear i can explain that currently if at the Spanish language MinecraftWiki, I put the folowing code API that generates this API redirects to http://en.wikipedia.com/wiki/Interfaz_de_programación_de_aplicaciones instead of redirecting to http://es.wikipedia.com/wiki/Interfaz_de_programación_de_aplicaciones i hope my english language skills were good enough to explain clearly what i mean. i appreciate anything that can be done about it, and if i missed something, im sorry, please excuse me

Missing brackets at end of edit summaries
Taking a look at edits like this, I've noticed that the edit summaries are missing closing brackets. Only happened after the merge. -- t numbermaniac c 00:33, 24 September 2013 (UTC)
- Even the edit before that is the same way. -- t numbermaniac c 00:35, 24 September 2013 (UTC)

- Ok you guys... I have to ask... is this a serious issue that you want to waste dev time on? How much does this really matter ... to anyone.... We spent today working through all the user merge issues we had enough details to fix, and are now focusing on some of the more serious problems being experienced by the language wikis. I personally think this trivia can stop. -- Wynthyst talk 03:07, 24 September 2013 (UTC)

- Well, https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/75561532/I%20beg%20to%20differ.jpg I see closing parentheses on all the summaries. I would guess this is a browser specific issue that seriously is going to get zero dev time. -- Wynthyst talk 04:57, 24 September 2013 (UTC)

If you say so. -- t numbermaniac c 05:08, 24 September 2013 (UTC)
- It is a very minor issue that will not be looked at any time soon. However, it may be fixed just by the process of upgrading to Mediawiki 1.21.x which is coming in a few months. Azxiana (talk) 14:46, 24 September 2013 (UTC)
advert problem
i noticed that the adverts on the upper right of the pages are too high and are infront of the edit and history tabs

Userspace Empty
My entire userspace appears to have disappeared in the merge or gone somewhere else. The main page is there but all my scripts and sub pages are cleared. Can this be fixed? FalkirksTalk 03:55, 25 September 2013 (UTC)

Templates not being interpreted correctly
Resolved |

All the problems listed below regarding broken parser functions in templates, and broken reference citations: Click on "Edit" and the hit "Save" (Do a null edit). This should fix whatever is broken. Also, make sure you clear your cache (Ctrl+F5 on most browsers) before posting. Also, please provide links to the pages you are having problems with.
It seems like neither Extension:Loops nor Extension:variables are currently working/loaded. I can't get either to work in a sandbox page. Confirm? —munin · · 02:04, 26 September 2013 (UTC)

Cobblestone_farmingThis page is showing markup instead of images and videos: Tutorials/Cobblestone_farming Dyes PageThe dyes page seems to have some formatting issue/locating issues for the crafting recipes that it should be showing.
Apart from the crafting recipes not displaying correctly the page is fine. Here's the page: Dyeing --Firedingo (talk) 21:12, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
Problem with a large amount of Ajax loaded pagesI was trying to look at a schematic for a cobblestone generator, and all I got was something that looked like this:
There's also a small frame that didn't fit it. Looked at a few others, and it seems that most schematics (like the various redstone circuits) are having this problem. The schematics themselves still show up when I go to edit the page, but since I'm new here I'm not sure what is what and don't want to toy with the pages. Triple Factorial (talk) 21:29, 25 September 2013 (UTC) Enchanted Book...The "Enchanted Book" page is broken. All the pictures are gone, and there's visible code scattered everywhere. Most of the proper text is near the bottom of the page. Villager page is broken.Villager page is messed up. All the HTML and coding is visible where images are meant to be.
Page looks like this: {{#if:{{ #if: | | [[File:{{#if: Villagers.gif | Villagers.gif | {{#ifexist: File:{{#if: | {title} | Villager }}.png | {{#if: | {title} | Villager }}.png | No block image.png}} }}|{{#ifeq: | Template || link=File:{{#if: Villagers.gif | Villagers.gif | {{#if: | {title} | Villager }}.p
More broken pagesThe pages for Redstone Block and Music Discs are also broken, with code all around, as mentioned and shown above. ... as well as Glowtone and Nether Quartz crafting recipes (English version affected, but German version OK). Schematics do not show on any browser. Some weird text shows instead.Since the migration of this site, all schematics show up as the exact same rectangluar set of hyphens, dashes and slashes and some cut-off "#f" message in the middle. This renders all the very helpful pages that we had before on red stone circuits useless. I have copied and pasted the rectangular section. The paste doesn't show it the same but certainly what it shows is no schematic. –Preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.227.32.223 (talk) 22:44, 25 September 2013(UTC). Out of sync cursor in editing on Firefox
The cursor while typing in Firefox appears out of sync with the letters that appear as you type (i.e. huge spaces while holding down backspace, letters appearing before the cursor moves, etc.). This is getting annoying already and I just discovered this as I was adding a new section. GunslingerN7 (talk) 23:17, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
