I FOUND A BUG

If one places a fence beneath land and then make it farmland and place wheat on top, that person can walk over the wheat without the seeds popping up. Confirmed in SMP only. I don't know where the bugs page is so I just posted it here. NINJAS KICK BUTT 16:37, 27 February 2012 (UTC)

Right-aligned Floating box

The box containing "Recent Community Articles", an advertisement and the "Mojang Tweets"; is poorly implemented (it doesn't align itself to the page; it's just floating there).

In various resolutions and on various pages it will obstruct important information, Please fix! Thanks in advance.

--Adare 18 January 2012

I can confirm. When on the Modifications page (haven't checked, it happens to be on at least one page) it obscures tables from displaying the right side (depending on floating right sidebar height and how far down the table starts)--like2omg 19:00, 4 March 2012 (UTC)

Developer Blog link

I don't think notchs blog is the right target for the Developer Blog link on the left side, it would be better to link it to mojang.com.

Ocelot mob page

The ocelot is a confirmed mob added in snapshot 12w04a, so Ocelot should now be unlocked. --Barracuda 15:27, 26 January 2012 (UTC)

Cauldron on [1]

Cauldrons are currently listed as only obtainable by /give or inventory editors. Should be listed as normal since the addition of the crafting recipe in Minecraft 1.0.

The cauldron block and item are different things; you cannot normally obtain the block, so the tables are correct. This belongs on the talk page, not the admin noticeboard. -- Orthotope 01:41, 24 January 2012 (UTC)

"Large deletion from article by new editors"

I wanted to delete some poorly written traps in Tutorials/Traps added last days. But got this warning. Off course it is good that you can't delete much from an article. But someone added a lot of bad traps. For example i think that this isn't a good trap idea:
"Okay. Make a roller coaster. At the end, a iron door closes, and lots of falling gravel falls BEHIND you. Then there is a sign that says: Chose your path wisely. Okay, so they walk down a path for a bit. Then they drop down. At the end of the fall, there are 3 pathes. All have trapdoors, which lead to lava at the bottom. "

You simply have to be registered and make 10 legitimate edits in 3 or 4 days to become "Autoconfirmed" then you can make your changes without triggering the filter. You can check your user group status in your "Preferences". -- Wynthyst Image:User Wynthyst sig icon.png :en:User talk:Wynthyst 09:48, 11 January 2012 (UTC)

I wanted to correct trivia on the Obsidian page, but got blocked with Nonsensical anon edits. Just do not consider me a bad guy or whatever. System may also need revision, because my edits looked quite nice to me. 87.228.24.249 15:59, 10 January 2012 (UTC)

I would not necessarily say that 5 false positives out of 500 is way too many, but it seems other filters were catching most of the bad edits anyway. -- Wynthyst Image:User Wynthyst sig icon.png :en:User talk:Wynthyst 09:50, 11 January 2012 (UTC)
When I disabled the filter, it was blocking some 20+% of anon edits. The "Statistics" line shown on the filter page is a sliding window view of the most recent actions and matches. If the filter is meant to block one particular editor (it is shown as blocking a single spammer IP several hundred times), the filter should be made specific to the editor (and in the case of that IP, it's simpler to just add the URL(s) they're trying to spam to the spam blacklist). In Minecraft 1.1.0 (or 1.0.0) Retail, Creative Mode, one can drop a door by destroying the top part. Tested on SMP (while in Creative game mode).

Section Removal: Mods#Safe Mods

The "Safe Mods" section in Mods is mostly redundant with "Harmful Mods and Mod Safety". I just edited "Harmful Mods..." to that effect, but couldn't delete "Safe Mods" due to automatic vandalism protection. The only remaining unique content is the claim that outdated mods could "develop into a virus", which is clearly ridiculous. Hence, please remove. 80.237.156.64 03:34, 2 December 2011 (UTC)

Page Rename: South/West rule

The page South/West rule needs to be renamed to reflect the compass changes in game. The rule is now referred to as the South-East Rule. Also, there seems to be a disagreement on the format of the rules name. While the page uses a /(slash) the actual pages seem to use a -(dash) between the names. I represent the - (dash) here in the name as it seemed to be the most common usage. --Mystara 19:52, 1 December 2011 (UTC)

Suggest "South/East" instead of "South-East", because the rule affects South AND East, not only SE (i.e. diagonal). "South-East" would imply diagonal only, where as "South/East" implies South OR East OR both. Kroc 09:06, 13 December 2011 (UTC)
South/East is not a valid page name. As it means East is a sub-page of south. –User:Ultradude25 (User:Ultradude25/t|User:Ultradude25/c) at 16:35, 13 December 2011 (UTC)

Captcha problems

I was trying to add a references section to the ladders page, and did that successfully; however, I then realized that I needed to add a <* references/> tag to the section for it to actually display the references. however, the site told me to complete a math problem before I submited my work; I did so, and then went to hit "save". however, It also said that I needed to preview the page first(which I had already done.) however, after I had previewed the page and hit save, it wanted me to do another math problem... and the loop began. Help please?

Has done nothing but post links to his(?) own Youtube videos, which have been consistently removed as spam. Since being unblocked for violating the video policy, he's repeatedly tried to remove an existing link to a video in order to promote one of his own on the same topic. His commentary on it includes a link to another of his, encouraging people to download a cracked copy of Minecraft and providing a URL to do so, a rather blatant violation of the Minecraft TOS. This might warrant further administrative action, not my place to decide. -- Orthotope 19:43, 6 February 2012 (UTC)

Twitter feed is broken

The Mojang Tweets feed on the right sidebar appears to still be showing Mojang tweets from a day or two after Minecon, most notably, "We found it hard working with Yogscast, but we regret that this was aired publicly. We will now sort this out with them directly."

I think the best solution is to remove the Mojang Tweets section, morph the Recent Community Articles into the left sidebar, and move the box advertisment to the bottom of the page (where there are already two other box ads). Then we wouldn't have the Twitter glitch, AND the entire wiki wouldn't feel so cramped any more. -User:Oxguy3 User talk:Oxguy3Special:Contributions/Oxguy3 20:13, 12 February 2012 (UTC)

  • I agree with this completely. To add on, Mojang rarely tweets, and when they do, it's even more rarely about Minecraft. In my opinion, the Mojang Tweets section is off topic with the rest of the wiki. If we MUST have a twitter section, it should be Jeb_/Jonkagstrom/Dinnerbone Tweets, as it seems their correspondence on twitter is often Minecraft oriented, especially when compared to the Mojang Twitter account.
