Revert Vandals[edit]

There's a team of editors abusing the undo button, go here to see them! –Preceding unsigned comment was added by Macaronimaster50 (talkcontribs) at 17:41, 1 January 2020 (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

Actually mind reading the editor notes? The update was NOT focused on bug fixes; the main focus was the bees, and all their related objects. You reverted a removed edit 3 times, without any actual reasoning, and started threatening. If you actually look at who reverted the edits, you'd know you're literally fighting against 1 wiki admin and 2 of the most active editors on this wiki... FVbico (talk) 17:46, 1 January 2020 (UTC)
I know what the edit notes say, but those are lies, 'cause if you look at what the update is about (I don't really mean look at the tile, I mean look at the contents of the update), you'll see they're wrong! --Macaronimaster50 (talk) 01:37, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
The intent was bees, since the name is Buzzy Bees. The BlobsPaper JE2 BE2.png 01:55, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
I never said it wasn't! --Macaronimaster50 (talk) 02:29, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
You really think, you with only a habdful of edits, know better than an admin and 2 of the most active users on the wiki? Mojang has made it clear the focus was bees, not bugs. You're jumping to conclusions based on the sice of the fix list, while they're about the same size for every update. FVbico (talk) 11:06, 2 January 2020 (UTC)

No page for Bedrock's Scripting API.[edit]

It's mentioned in some patch notes, but not there is no page or documentation for it anywhere here on this wiki as far as I know. –Preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk) at 09:02, 3 January 2020‎ (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

Launcher beta versions not updated fast enough[edit]

I've seen some admin or something say Minecraft versions usually update on the main page within one day, however I don't see this with the beta versions of the launcher. I understand that this could be because you first manually have to change version and then within a day the page updates. If this is the case, automatically updating the versions would be good. Anyway, today the latest beta version is Launcher 2.1.1083x. 16:54, 8 January 2020 (UTC)

tile.air.name redirect needed[edit]

I have found the SUPER ULTRA MEGA FUNNY joke item called "tile.air.name", which is introduced as a joke in minecraft snapshot 13w38b at Java_Edition_removed_features#Air item. I purpose to create this redirect to Air. 08:30, 5 February 2020 (UTC)

Missing translation string redirects are not made, ever. FVbico (talk) 08:55, 5 February 2020 (UTC)

New Category: Tables[edit]

A category page should be made called "Tables" or similar containing crafting tables, furnaces, brewing stands, enchanting tables, looms, smokers, cartography tables etc.–Preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk) at 18:23, 5 March 2020 (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

I'm not necessarily opposed, but I would like to note that we already have Category:Utility blocks which serves a similar purpose but is slightly broader. I presume what would define pages that belong in this category are blocks that allow players to store or modify items (which is true for all the blocks you listed), but I'm not sure "Tables" would be the most accurate name for such a category. I would definitely be open to other opinions.--Madminecrafter12 (Talk to me | View what I've done) 18:30, 5 March 2020 (UTC)
Maybe it's not that a bad idea if the category has a good definition, but I don't think this category should be called "Tables", and I honestly can't pick a better name. --AttemptToCallNil (report bug, view backtrace) 19:22, 5 March 2020 (UTC)
I typically call them "Crafting blocks" or "Recipe blocks", as they are blocks that allow you to perform recipes. KnightMiner · (t) 01:25, 6 March 2020 (UTC)
If such a category were created "Recipe blocks" would be my personal preference of the choices provided.--Madminecrafter12 (Talk to me | View what I've done) 02:10, 6 March 2020 (UTC)

youtu.be url blocked by spam filter[edit]

Trying to put shortened youtube.com link youtu.be as reference will prevent edit. 18:05, 16 January 2020 (UTC)

This restriction is pulled from Wikimedia's spam blacklist, where it is needed to avoid bypassing blacklists on Wikimedia wikis. As such, the youtu.be shortcut will remain in that list, as has been stated repeatedly. Removing the dependency on that blacklist is not a good idea as many entries there are not wanted. However, it should be possible to add youtu.be to the local whitelist, but I'm not sure it's an appropriate course of action. --AttemptToCallNil (report bug, view backtrace) 18:39, 16 January 2020 (UTC)
There is no reason not to use a full youtube link. Especially on articles full links are preferred, and on talk pages it more work to get a short link anyways. KnightMiner · (t) 01:24, 17 January 2020 (UTC)
We also have templates for inserting YouTube links and embedding YouTube videos. We shouldn't be using bare URLs. ~ Amatulic (talk) 02:02, 10 March 2020 (UTC)

Template:License Mojang[edit]

Hi, could someone please fix the License Mojang template? The page is locked and can only be edited by administrators. The template categorizes images, but not other files. I think that it could work if someone activated the prepared option. – Tengoblinekcz (talk) 10:26, 15 March 2020 (UTC)

It does categorize all files. If you view the source, you will see that it chooses the category based on the file extension. It categorizes imageas as Mojang images, and other files as Mojang files.
Also, please use "Add topic" in the future. The BlobsPaper JE2 BE2.png 15:52, 15 March 2020 (UTC)
The template does not categorize other files, the function is disabled with <!-- -->. You can see all uncategorized files with license here. – Tengoblinekcz (talk) 11:18, 16 March 2020 (UTC)

Ink Sac page vandalization[edit]

The article about the ink sac item has been vandalized with s*xual phrases. 01:12, 22 March 2020 (UTC)

It's been reverted. That took a while, though. ~ Amatulic (talk) 06:12, 22 March 2020 (UTC)

The "Java Edition Infdev 20100617-1" page is a mislabeling.[edit]

The page Java Edition Infdev 20100617-1 [ https://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Java_Edition_Infdev_20100617-1 ] is a mislabeling. The version is actually 20100617-2. A 20100617-1 never existed. Clicking on the download link brings you to 20100617-2. This is likely an oversight when the page was created. So this page needs to be renamed to 20100617-2. –Preceding unsigned comment was added by ThreeLui (talkcontribs) at 7:33, 28 November 2019 (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

I asked the maintainers of the downloads (Omniarchive) and they said "There’s 2 [versions on that day], there was initially some confusion about whether June 16th was actually 17-1 but it’s now been decided it isn’t"  Nixinova T  C  03:05, 20 April 2020 (UTC)

more redstone stuff[edit]

i had looked up on this wiki for pulse extender and it din't have a page for them, so i was thinking that you guys should add more redstone stuff.

Automatic filter blocks articles in other languages[edit]

I have created a page for the Swedish translation project, but when I tried to publish it, the automatic filter blocked it because it contained "an unwanted word". The translation isn't completely finished, so either the "unwanted word" comes from the original English version, or the filter simply blocks normal Swedish words. It would be nice if some changes to the filter could be made; perhaps it could recognize the language the page is written in and adapt the "unwanted word" list to that specific language? [[1]]–Preceding unsigned comment was added by En programmerare (talkcontribs) at 11:31, 23 March 2020 (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

As you probably guessed, your edit was caught in a filter that is designed to prevent vandalism but occasionally runs into false positives. Since your edit was obviously constructive, I've gone ahead and created the page for you. The thing about the filter is a lot of the words listed there are not only blocked if they stand on their own but also if they're contained within another word, which is often the source of false positives with this filter. Us admins, when we add new words to the filter, consider whether that word might be used inside of another English word and if so add it to a different category of the filter (where only standalone words are detected and blocked) or just not at all; however, it's difficult to check to see if that word could potentially be used in any foreign language. I'm guessing a Swedish word in any part of the article happened to contain a disallowed word in the filter which caused your edit to be blocked. Unfortunately I don't think there's a way to determine what exact word it was that triggered it except by reading every word of the article and comparing it manually (which I'm definitely too lazy to do right now :P). However, it might not be a bad idea in general to make the filter not act at all on translation pages, as I doubt they're likely to be vandalized frequently (since they're buried so deep into the wiki). Sorry for the trouble and thanks for letting us know about this.--Madminecrafter12 (Talk to me | View what I've done) 13:28, 23 March 2020 (UTC)--Madminecrafter12 (Talk to me | View what I've done) 13:28, 23 March 2020 (UTC)

Main Page Demo Link[edit]

The word "demo" on the main page links to the Java Edition demo, but shouldn't it link to the wiki article instead? Java is not the only edition with demo, and there's an article on this wiki, so there really is no reason to link to minecraft.net instead of the wiki page.- 15:33, 27 March 2020 (UTC)

Do you mean the demo link in the second paragraph of "About Minecraft"? The context of that paragraph should be enough to suggest that the Java Edition demo is what's being referred to, but I agree that linking the wiki article would be better (though honestly that entire intro needs cleaning up). –Sonicwave talk 16:29, 27 March 2020 (UTC)

Upcoming Version on Main Page[edit]

Twitch movement did not transfer account[edit]

I found out that Gamepedia now uses Twitch, which when I tried to log in on my old account Tyzaack, it does not allow me to do that and instead logs me into this new account that is linked to Twitch, which is linked on the forums. What should I do to merge these two accounts into one, or even get rid of this to use the other one that I used before? I cannot even change the username, which makes this even more frustrating. --Tyzaack33801 (talk) 07:54, 3 March 2020 (UTC)

You should probably submit a Zendesk ticket. --AttemptToCallNil (report bug, view backtrace) 10:36, 3 March 2020 (UTC)
Thank you for quick response. I sent them a request. I noticed that their suggestion for fix was outdated, as the previous "My Account" has been replaced with "Twitch". Do as you please with this topic, but I will note about the change whenever they respond, if this topic is kept. --Tyzaack33801 (talk) 21:46, 3 March 2020 (UTC)
Just noting we generally keep topics on the admin noticeboard just for reference even if they would be more appropriate in another forum (which this topic is actually appropriate for the admin noticeboard imo) unless they're completely unrelated to the wiki (such as fan-made suggestions for the game), so I don't think anybody's going to remove this topic.--Madminecrafter12 (Talk to me | View what I've done) 18:35, 5 March 2020 (UTC)
Just recently they fixed the issue. Took them some time, but I'm happy with the result. Thanks for your help. --McTwist (talk) 23:29, 27 March 2020 (UTC)

Vulgar Language on a Tutorial Page[edit]

On this page here: Tutorials/Menu_screen#Pause_Menu there is a vulger message spelled out using a blueprint block. I tried to remove it, but the wiki wouldn't let me. Dragon_DLV (talk) 19:36, 28 March 2020 (UTC)

Went ahead and removed it. Not sure how that thing lasted four whole days on the wiki. - User-12316399 (talk) 19:43, 28 March 2020 (UTC)

Consecutive disruptive edits on Java Edition version history/Development versions[edit]

Anonymous user(s) have been repeatedly adding 1.16 pre1 to the Java Edition version history/Development versions page, despite several reversions and requests to stop. Latest is User: Cultist O (talk) 01:42, 4 April 2020 (UTC)

I blocked them for 2 months, since they have disruptively edited before (and been blocked for it). I have no objections if another admin wants to protect the page, though I suspect all of the disruption is from the same user using multiple IPs. –Sonicwave talk 01:48, 4 April 2020 (UTC)
As you can see here, this vandal has gone at it for quite some time. There's not much way to stop them beside just continuously blocking them when they appear (since it's from a variety of IPs, not just all in one range) unless we protect all new version pages (or any page they edit at all), which I doubt would be worth it. For this particular case, they haven't targeted the Development versions page much in general recently but in the last few days they have vandalized it quite frequently. Since there have also been a few constructive edits from IPs in that time, though, I'd say wait for now but protect for a week or so if they vandalize one more time.--Madminecrafter12 (Talk to me | View what I've done) 02:38, 4 April 2020 (UTC)

Quartz Bricks[edit]

In Java Edition 1.16’s 20w15a, the developer team added lots of new blocks such as quartz bricks, which at the time of this post hasn’t gotten a page. Can someone create these pages? Thank you. — 17:34, 8 April 2020 (UTC)

I tried to remove the section Mini-boss Mobs from the Mob page but wouldn't let me 15:18, 9 April 2020 (UTC)

I've removed the section, sorry for the trouble. Your edit was caught in a filter that is designed to prevent vandalism, but sometimes runs into false positives, like your edit. FYI if you register an account and make a few edits, you should be able to get around most abuse filters.--Madminecrafter12 (Talk to me | View what I've done) 15:21, 9 April 2020 (UTC)

Other language characters in boxes[edit]

There have been characters from other languages in the infoboxes within several pages.

Note how there are non-English characters in the box headings. This has happened on multiple pages. --2057clones (talk) 14:21, 11 April 2020 (UTC)

This is already corrected now, it appears a user edited a template and caused this. FVbico (talk) 14:27, 11 April 2020 (UTC)
Yeah, see this. If any page is still not showing up correctly for you, purge the page (under the "More" options in the top sidebar).--Madminecrafter12 (Talk to me | View what I've done) 14:29, 11 April 2020 (UTC)

Ok, thanks. I'm not too sure on all this editing stuff - the interfaces are new to me, so I'd rather just have someone more experienced do it correctly, but thanks for the fix and the quick response.--2057clones (talk) 14:37, 11 April 2020 (UTC)
