Afraid so, at least there is no such page right now, and no saved draft on the wiki. It is possible that your browser has a copy saved, especially if it's Firefox: You might possibly be able to get back to the edit page, by way of the "Recently Closed Tabs" menu (under "History"). Aether

There is already an official Aether wiki here: aether.wikia.com/wiki/The_Aether_Wiki:_Genesis_of_the_Void Maybe the aether page on the Minecraft wiki should mention it, because it has a lot of information. –Preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.173.14.157 (talk) 17:52, 27 November 2013‎(UTC). Yes, I came across this post while searching for vandalism. Yes, The aether information provided here is terrible. Yes, there IS a much better aether information wiki. But still, we should be giving the wiki and its contributors some slack. --User:BrandSPim (Need help?) 18:57, 27 November 2013 (UTC)
Well if you mean giving the Aether wiki's contributors some slack, that wouldn't really be a problem. I'm the owner of the Aether wiki and his idea would actually help out (if you need me to verify that I'm the owner, you can message me there and I will reply back. I have an owner usertag on my page). The Aether wiki's purpose is to help people who are confused with the mod, and mentioning it here would probably help anyone who's looking for more information. --Istolethepies (talk) 19:33, 27 November 2013 (UTC)
It would be nice if we could maintain full subtrees for major mods like the Aether, but I suspect we'd be competing with their own wiki for "labor" -- that is, most Aether fans will be putting their effort in over there, and few will be moved to duplicate their efforts over here. Given that, a mod's page certainly should have a prominent link to its own wiki. --MentalMouse42 (talk) 21:16, 27 November 2013 (UTC)
Link added to infobox. Most of the information here still dates to the first version of the mod, so it may make sense to direct people to the Aether wiki instead of trying to update everything. -- Orthotopetalk 21:39, 27 November 2013 (UTC)

External-link filter false positive?

I tried to post something on the Talk page for Music discs, and it was blocked for containing "external links". There were no URLs in the post, nor any code at all. I'd paste the content of the post here, but obviously that would be blocked as well. Furthermore, I was already able to post external links in two other pages. Did it flag me as a spambot and just not correctly identify why I'm being blocked from posting? Stevethepocket (talk) 23:28, 2 December 2013 (UTC)

The YouTube link in the text above is erroneously catching your edit. If you use the "new section" feature, it should ignore other text. For some reason, the filter catches surrounding text when looking at added text. It's a known issue with the actual extension. Cat CAPTCHA and external links

That "click on the cats" thing counts as an external link, which is not allowed for anyone not logged in. To be clear, this means no one can post if they're not logged in. The cats must be clicked, but they invalidate the post. Apparently this page is an exception. –Preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.68.154.229 (talk) 07:31, 8 December 2013(UTC). It does not count as an external link. The CAPTCHA has nothing to do with the abuse filters. Looking at your attempted edits, it's a minor glitch of data collected by the filter for an edit. I fixed the issue and you should be able to post now. Make sure to sign your talk page posts and next time don't spam admin talk pages especially when you already posted here. Update of Tutorial blocked

Hey there,

I read Setting up a server and noticed that part of it is obsolete, so I tried to update it, section Running a 1.7.2 Server is the particular section I wanted to update. Although that section contains links to minecraft.net, so I'm not allowed to post the edit until an admin allows it. I'm not sure if I'll be returning to the wiki in the next few days, it would be great if an admin would post this. The edit I made can be found at pastebin: ZagPfPqf, Summary is: "/* Running a 1.7.2 Server */ Updated links and text to newest version; Removed Notepad++ reference (works with N++ just fine); Replaced line about cracked clients with authentication notice; removed obsolete direct links to the .jar files" Thanks! Cheet4h (talk) 07:13, 11 December 2013 (UTC)

It's a limitation of how the BlockGrid template works. The best solution is converting them to use {{Schematic}} instead. Larger ones may need to be moved to subpages and dynamically loaded to avoid over-stressing the server. -- Orthotopetalk 23:03, 13 December 2013 (UTC)

Collapsible table css polish

LoadBoxes and collapsible tables add a [show] link to the title text:

The link added to the loadbox has margin-left: 10px, nicely spacing it away from the title text (though maybe 1em would scale better?), but the table link doesn't have anything. Could a little margin/padding/spacing be added to the table's link?

munin · 16 px 16 px · 06:03, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

The table links have margin in the form of a set width which is larger than the text, so it doesn't change size and cause centered text to move. The loadbox used to have load/collapse/expand as its text, so a set width wasn't practical, thus it used margin. Now that it just uses show/hide it can be changed to use a set width like the tables. MattTalk

"…a set width which is larger than the text…" – that will give different results for different fonts (some will have no spacing, some will have lots). Hmm. I think it needs to be at least 4em to ensure wider fonts (e.g., Courier, Monaco, Verdana) still get some space.
munin · 16 px 16 px · 08:31, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
Hmm... I expected ems to scale by font width, for some reason. Setting it larger would mean there is a big gap (for me the gap is already about 10px) on some fonts, so I'll probably have to just set a margin then set min-width with JS to stop the wiggling. That'll be fine since the button can only exist with JS anyway. MattTalk

Curse Videos

I have been trying to add some of the curse videos to the wiki, however I need some pages to be locked, and others to have videos added to them (as I do not have sufficient rights).

Could an admin please lock the following pages:

Could an admin add http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wN1ZgpqYr6Y (Baby Zombie) to Zombie/video

Could an admin please add the following videos to Biome/video

The following should be added to Generated structures/video

Done, thanks for compiling this list. Changed Biome and Generated structures to use {{LoadPage}} due to the large number of videos. -- Orthotopetalk 06:56, 29 January 2014 (UTC)

Spectator Mode

Hello,

My username is MinecrafterMew. I just got finished attempting to add a new page for the newly implemented Gamemode 3, or spectator mode. I am here because it rejected my post as something the "admins may not want posted here" <-- I think that's what it said. I just wanted to make sure that nobody has forgotten about the new gamemode, and hope to see a new thread/page on this wiki soon about it!

Thanks a ton, ~MinecrafterMew

Module:Sprite/Item

I was trying to add the barrier to the list, when I noticed it's editing was admin only (cascading from main page). Can an admin change it to registered users only. --KnightMiner (talk|contribs) 19:08, 30 January 2014 (UTC)

Added; AFAIK there's no way to override cascading protection. It's possible to turn off cascading protection for the main page and manually protect templates used on it instead, but I'd like to see if other admins have arguments against that before going ahead with it. -- Orthotopetalk 19:55, 30 January 2014 (UTC)

Separate pages for each 1.8 snapshot

This looks like a mistake, which has grown out of control. It used to be the organized system where everything was in colapsable tables on Development versions, but now it is on separate pages. People have even edited the template. However, it should be either:

  • a: Each snapshot gets its own page, with the old ones being moved to new pages, or
  • b: these rouge pages are returned to the proper place.

That's where they're supposed to be. MattTalk

I don't see why, as this trend is not expressed on any of the other versions. Pokechu22 (talk) 01:57, 4 February 2014 (UTC)
Because this is the test version. It will be applied to all previous versions later. MattTalk

Chunk Format NBT Sprites

On the Chunk Format page, the icons for the NBT tag-types stops displaying after the "Bred" tag for EntityHorse. I've tried restarting my browser, clearing cache, and trying different browsers to see if an issue on my end. I've checked the page but there doesn't seem to be any issues with the formatting on it (well, none obvious to me that is). I've checked the history of the page but all of them presented the same issue, so I'm still unsure if it's on my end or not. Skylinerw (talk) 21:49, 3 February 2014 (UTC).

I noticed it too, on several browsers. Weird since I just read the article yesterday and it was fine. --KnightMiner (talk|contribs) 22:03, 3 February 2014 (UTC)

TESO Beta Key Giveaway ad

It blocks text on pages. Image:

It even blocks the "Save Page" button when editing pages. Zooming does not affect it. user:Meeples10t ~ c 00:57, 5 February 2014 (UTC)

File Moves

Sometimes, when a file move, it fails to redirect and deletes the file. Most recently with File:NewSandstoneGrid2.png being moved to File:SandstoneFace-Unused.png, but it happened before with File:Grid_Stone_Brick.png to File:Grid_Stone_Brickd.png --KnightMiner (talk|contribs) 15:59, 5 February 2014 (UTC)

Curse videos (part 2)

More curse videos have been released, so that means more pages need to be locked and more videos added. Could an admin please do the following:

Pages to lock:

Replace the old video on Wood Planks/video with the new one (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DqajeigWlWQ) with all different wood plank varieties.

Add to Biome/video

Add to Generated structures/video

The templates are not getting along

Template:crafting usage breaks Template:Crafting, Template:Smelting, and Template:Brewing if the latter is after the former. --KnightMiner (talk|contribs) 04:18, 23 February 2014 (UTC)

I messed with the preview for a bit, it seems if you remove any one of the templates, it works fine. --KnightMiner (talk|contribs) 14:04, 17 March 2014 (UTC)
I believe the problem is the parsed html from each infobox row has to be loaded into lua, which uses up a lot of its memory (and the memory used by the sprite module contributes twice: first to actually generate the HTML, and again to put that HTML into the navbox module). However, lua doesn't need to do anything with that data, other than just output it in the correct place. Since our navboxes are so simple, I had an idea to make a version where you just use a normal wiki table, with a template to populate the title and classes, which I will be trying soon. MattTalk

Even with the navboxes as tables, the memory usage is quite close to the limit. It'll be the huge number of sprites doing that. MattTalk

⎜ 04:07, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
I've made {{SimpleNavbox}} which is better for our usage, and just converting {{Blocks}} to it was enough to fix that page. The memory usage is 49.27 MB / 50 MB now. MattTalk

Once new blocks and other blocks are added, will it reach the memory limit? User:GoandgooTalk

Eventually. The sprites don't actually use that much memory (a single one doesn't even register a difference in memory), it's just that page has an obscene amount of them. MattTalk

Can't Create a Page

Hi, I was automatically blocked from creating a new page when I was making a page about live streaming. I wish to help others by posting this but I can't. Please help. Imnooby (talk)

Short-term login

Usually when you login you can click a box to have the wiki keep you logged in for 30 days. But it seems that if you just click the login link at the top of the screen, it logs you in without giving you the option for 30 days so you have to keep logging in every day or so. The only way I can find to get to the login screen with the 30 day option is to click the link to login, then log back out – then I finally get the login screen.

Perhaps the link at the top isn't aware that I have my preferences set to 30 days?

Vandalism of Redstone circuit

Will somebody with privs please revert BeckNoda's edits to http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/index.php?title=Redstone_circuit –Preceding unsigned comment was added by 75.81.142.114 (talk) 19:18, 5 April 2014(UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

I assume you're referring to these edits to the Thai translation of the redstone circuits page. In that case, a cursory examination of their changes and additions via Google Translate suggests there's nothing wrong with their edits that would warrant a revert. Can you specify why you think these edits should be reverted? User:Dinoguy1000Special:Contributions/Dinoguy1000? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 20:50, 5 April 2014 (UTC)
My humble mistake; that URL does not take the form of a normal 'in other languages' subdomain, so I mistook it for an English page. Similarly, the 'in other languages' section does not include English, so I wonder if it is somehow meta-flagged as an English page (I'm clearly not familiar with how that works -_-). My apologies. 75.81.142.114 03:22, 9 April 2014 (UTC)
