This is a list of Launcher 2.1.523x development versions.


2.1.4976 (Windows), 2.1.4975 (macOS), or 2.1.4974 (Linux) was a launcher beta version released on June 14, 2019, which redesigned the look of the launcher.[1]


  • The launcher now a sidebar with tabs to select which game to play, in preparation for the release of Minecraft Dungeons.
    • Currently only Java Edition can be launched here.
    • News tab is now located in this sidebar.
  • Added "patch notes" tab, which displays the changelog of the latest major version.


  • Redesigned the launcher's style.
  • Launcher now defaults to a size of 984×600px rather than 600×600px.
  • Renamed "Launch options" tab to "Installations".
  • Launcher versioning information is now located in the Settings menu instead of appearing when clicking the version number displayed in the bottom left.



2.1.4998 (Windows), 2.1.4999 (macOS), or 2.1.5000 (Linux) was a launcher beta version released on June 17, 2019, which updated translations and fixed a bug.[2][3]

  • Fixed patch note link leading to the incorrect page.
  • Fixed taskbar icon and WM class on linux.
  • Fixed crash report not showing up immediately if launcher was re-opened on game crash.

  • MCL-11027 – Beta launcher: cannot launch 1.7.10
  • MCL-11038 – Dropdown arrow moves down when width is too small
  • MCL-11039 – When on the login screen, pressing tab after entering username selects "?" instead of password field


2.1.5127 (Windows), 2.1.5128 (macOS), or 2.1.5129 (Linux) was a launcher beta version released on June 19, 2019, which fixed bugs.[3][6]


  • Added more logging for connectivity issues.
  • Enabled selecting of text for copy-paste in various parts of the interface.
  • Spell checking is now disabled in input fields.
  • Clicking outside a create/edit installation dialog no longer closes it.
  • Updated translations.

  • MCL-10817 – Crash after fastly closing and restarting the launcher.

  • MCL-11026 – Beta launcher cannot establish connection to the internet.


2.1.5197 (Windows), 2.1.5196 (macOS), or 2.1.5195 (Linux) was a launcher beta version released on June 20, 2019, which fixed bugs.[3]


  • Updated translations.
  • Reduced the launcher update download size.
  • Enabled linux versions of the launcher beta.


  • Fixed being able to resize the launcher window to too small size on Mac and Linux.
  • Fixed linux versions showing update notifications despite no new versions being available.
  • Fixed the launcher crashing when reopened quickly after quitting.
  • Fixed being able to open duplicate instances of Minecraft without seeing a warning message.
  • Small layout and style fixes.
