A pre-Classic version of Minecraft (Java Edition), referred to by Notch as "minecraft alpha", was released on May 16, 2009, at 16:07 UTC.[1] This was the first version of Minecraft released for private testing.[1][2]


  • Issues reported were bad mouse movement[3] and a lack of a Y-axis invert.[4]


  • The URL for Minecraft was given to users dock and fartron for testing.[5]
