Changes[]

Gameplay[]

  • Made the day/night cycle 20 minutes long, with day and night lasting 10 minutes each.
  • Stars now appear in the night sky.

Other[]

Blocks
  • Blocks that can be replaced (fire, water, lava), no longer get used up when placed in a space with the same Block ID.
  • Torches require support.
  • Unsupported non solid blocks will now drop themselves.
  • Sand and gravel fall immediately when placed once again.
  • Glass no longer drops itself.
  • Torches no longer automatically rotate based off block around them.
    • The player can now choose which direction torches will face.
    • Because of this torches placed in existing worlds always face straight up.[1]
General
  • Removed rain.
  • Items drop in a straight line with little variation.
  • Changed texture of splash particles.
  • Added an "L" (lighting updates) value to the Debug screen.
  • Skins now display in the inventory, however, the player appears completely black unless a skin proxy is used. In this version, the player model is always shown with Notch's skin.
  • Caves darkened.
  • Pressing ESC now pauses the burning animation.
